Loosing focus, any suggestions????
I am running a signed applet , which has Internal Frame having Menus, One of the menu item is having Ctrl-P as hot key for bringing up the customized print dialog box. On pressing "OK" on this print dialog box two things happen
another browser window pops up for the user to show print preview.

If a say cancel on this windows print dialog box and close the print preview browser window, ideally my focus should be back to my applet window, so that I can use hot keys again, but on Win 2000, I am loosing the focus somewhere. I am using java 1_3_1 plugin. It works fine on Sun.
Any suggestions???????

2. parent.setFocus (): I'm not sure about the parent bit but I think it's correct

Treo 755p camera is out of focus, any suggestions how to fix?
I bought the 755p used, everything works great, but the camera photos are blurry, out of focus. I have checked the online User Guide and I can't find any adjustment or correction for this. Hi,
I'm shooting white screen and FINALLY have my lighting, white balance, exposure and focus making a great looking, crispy clip! But when I key out the white background in a short segment, I'm left with a very thin, white outline around my person that I don't know how to soften, without loosing facial opacity. I only tried using the 'Edges' tool. Any suggestions?

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.

The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?

My iphone4's battery went dead and when I put it on charge it asked for itunes. I dont have my macbook at the moment and I am worried I may loose content. Any suggestions how I can get into my phone?
Copy the iTunes folder from the disk to the Mac, and the iPhone backup to the right place on the Mac (Google for "iphone backup location"). Then when you restore you can reload the last backup.

I had a friend replace the battery in my iphone 4 and now itunes does not recognize it. The phone just has the apple coming on and off on the scree.

Window looses focus seemingly at random
This is very frustrating. Whenever I am working in any application, the active window auto-magically looses focus. I don't have a lot running by way of background processes and the computer is fairly new and running all latest software. I can't figure out why. Hoping someone from the Apple community can help out...

There are many background processes running on that Mac. The following will determine its peformance without several that are likely to be causing the problem.
Please determine if the problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well. -

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

New in SAP world. Need suggestion on how to start to learn SAP business Intelligence.
My background is oracle E-Business developer. For reporting purpose, I am using Oracle discoverer, Oracle Report and BI publisher. My manager wants me find some class to learn the SAP Business Intelligence.
Question :
1) Any suggestion What class should I take?
2) In SAP, what is Business Intelligence? Is that a reporting tool? What is the role for developer in BI? Does the developer build the basic report and then user can further manipulate the final "look" of the report?
2) I found the SAP certification for SAP Business Objects BI. It suggests to take Crystal reports too. What is the relationship between Crystal report and BI in SAP world?
Any advice is welcome!
FushanSAP BI has many areas to master. You need to decide if you want to focus on the front-end or back-end.
For front-end, you will specialize in Business Objects Business Intelligence and learn the reporting toolset. You will need to develop skills for gathering reporting requirements, and visualizing data graphically or in tabular format.
For back-end, you will specialize in designing data warehouses in SAP BW or SAP HANA. You will need to develop skills for data modeling and ABAP programming.
For certification, go to the SAP Education site and look at the recommended courses. I also recommend the SAP PRESS certification guides (eg. BI 7.0) to help study for the exam. You can also find lots of training videos and free content online thru SAP. -
JTable - loosing focus without tabbing out
Hi all,
I have a JTable and when the user goes to enter some text in a field I would like the value entered to persist to the underlying object as soon as the text is changed. This is without the user tabbing out of the JTable.
Currently when a value is changed and the user hits a save button the value is not saved as the focus is still in the table, it all works fine as soon as the user enters the new value and tabs out of the table and then selects save,
Does anyone have any suggestions?
THanks,This can be done via your own TableCellEditor class. Create a TableCellEditor class. Implement KeyListener in this editor to save whenever the data is modified.

How a custom control is advised it gains or looses focus?

Actually, I already asked it in another thread, in one of my answers: [onMouseClicked Event Is Failing To Fire|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5391008] but I fear it is lost in a rather lengthly message, so I ask it in its own thread, because I was to bring the attention of knowledgeable people (hello Sun people! :-D).
The question is simple: In a custom control in JavaFX 1.2, with skin and behavior, how a control is advised when it gains or looses focus?
The purpose is to let the skin to change the look of the component upon these events, like it is done for standard controls (eg. putting a border around the focused control).
If the control is clicked, you know (unless it is disabled) that it will have the focus. But I see no way to see the lost of focus, nor when we gain (or loose) it with Tab/Shift+Tab (if it has focusTraversable to true).
I looked for onFocus() and onBlur() events (or similar), but found nothing. No mixin, nothing related in javafx.scene.input.TextInput and friends, etc.
I explored the Web but since 1.2 is still new, I found not much information. Only a fragment of source code in [Re: Further location optimizations|http://markmail.org/message/gsevtlkeq45rrdun] where I see scene.getFocusOwner() but this one isn't easily usable because it is package protected (and it is not an event, anyway).
A possible solution would be to have a timer to inspect the state focused of the nodes, but it is so kludgy I didn't even tried to implement it!

Here's my problem: (Lightroom 4) I will edit a photo in "Develop" to the point where it looks great and I'm satisfied with the results. Then I click back to "Library" and the photo seems to go a little out of focus. When I export the photo, it doesn't seem to be as sharp as it is in "Develop" mode. This seems to occur more with wide angle than macro. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Norm
Okay guys, some good news!
First of all, thanks again to Sean for his suggestion to look inside the transaction log!
Indeed that specific table that I noticed was filling the transaction log, is the largest table in my database. Its size stands at about ~65GB. Like I said earlier, it has no LOB or Overflow columns. But one interesting fact about it is - it had absolutely
no indexes! It was a heap, but it was also partitioned. I didn't know a case like this could cause such problems with shrink? It's weird but it also kinda makes sense in a way.
Anyways, I ran a script to create a partitioned clustered index on that table. That took pretty much all day long due to the table size (almost 7 hours). But once that was finished, shrinking the data file was a breeze!
At least... Until the shrink started "hanging" again because now it started dealing with my
second largest table (~55GB). Like the first one, this one is also a partitioned
heap without any indexes. So I expected this to happen. I guess the solution this time will be the same: Create a clustered index.
Does this make sense to you? A partitioned heap table causing such heavy workload to SHRINK, but when it's moved to a clustered index, suddenly it flies?

I Just found it on the apple site, it arrived on a cd a few days later and worked just fine again.
i would recommend backing everything up just in case. Better safe than sorry, trust me. I've lost so much when i didnt back up once when re-installing the system.

I find the Air easier to work with if I need a keyboard if, for no other reason, that's more compact to carry around than the iPad and a keyboard, even one that is part of an iPad case. I also often have to access data from one application when using another, and iOS is not at its best when having to do rapid application switching (Command-Tab switching is a lot faster than the double press home, scroll the icons at the bottom and swap).
As well, for editing I find the lack of sandboxing on OSX allows for efficiency enhancing utilities across applications, something you don't get in iOS. I understand the reason for that, but while more secure it also creates issues of its own in terms of usability in a number of situations.
I prefer the iPad for totally single application focused situations where little or no input is required. I use my iPad to hold copies of manuals when I'm doing a full day continuing education presentation for CPAs. A MacBook Aire can't really fill in very easily for that usage.
I see them each as tools appropriate for different jobs.
