Losing GPRS connection on HWIC-3G-GSM

Hi,
I have configured Cisco 2801 with HWIC-3G-GSM to work as a GPRS router.
The configuration is:
chat-script gsm "" "atdt*99***1#" TIMEOUT 60 "CONNECT"
chat-script pin "" "at+cpin=xxxx"
interface Cellular0/1/0
  ip address negotiated
  ip virtual-reassembly
  encapsulation ppp
  dialer in-band
  dialer pool-member 1
  dialer-group 1
  async mode interactive
  ppp chap hostname ""
  ppp chap password 0 ""
interface Dialer1
  ip address negotiated
  encapsulation ppp
  dialer pool 1
  dialer idle-timeout 0
  dialer string gsm
  dialer persistent delay initial 20
  dialer-group 1
access-list 1 permit any
dialer-list 1 protocol ip list 1
line 0/1/0
  script startup pin
  script dialer gsm
  no exec
  rxspeed 236800
  txspeed 118000
Normally it works fine, but when the signal level is very low it stops to respond. So this is normal, but when the signal is back again, the connection is still lost, or more specific, in my eyes the router (dialer?) doesn't know that the connection is lost.
The test scenario looks like this:
- ping 172.16.1.1 repeat 500
- ping response is received
- I'm disconnecting an antenna
- pings stops working
- connecting back the antenna
- pings are still not working, and all I can do is just to reboot router
I think that it might be a problem with interoperability with a specific GSM carrier.
I have checked what is going on with modem during this test and it looks like this:
- before test

  • N73 keeps losing gprs connectivity

Two weeks ago my phone started to lose GPRS connectivity. The GPRS icon is gone and I cannot connect to internet or send MMS.
I have to restart the phone to restore the connection, and after less than 24h I will loose it again. It is lost randomly, without my interaction with the phone.
I updated it to 4.0735.3.0.2 but the same again.
In the past I had the same problem with handy taskman 1.05 and I solved with the newer version, but now it happens withou any change in the phone.
    Any help?

OK - so I've given it a reasonable amount of time to settle down again after the factory reset but it still keeps failing to connect and giving me 'resolving host' messages and then the 'unable to connect to web page'.
I've never seen my hub any colour but blue - so I presume it thinks everything is OK.
This happens oven wired connections as well as over wifi. I have 2 x Desktop PCs, Playstation and BT youview connected by wire and 2 x Ipads, 1 x kindle fire over wifi.
Now I have ditched sky and use Youview most of the time it is beginning to become irritating as my Internet Channels suddenly stop!
Has anyone any more suggestions please before, out of desperation, I ring the helpdesk and go through all the things that I've already done and then get told to see how it goes for a while?
    Thanks

    But whenever I issue
    microcode reload cellular 0 1 gsm modem-provision
    I get
Modem returned following error to Download Start Request:Wrong image for this product
So what might be wrong here?

Did you extract the firmware before the upgrade?  archive tar /xtract source-url destination-url
Can you post the log of the whole process?
Do you have the same results with a H firmware, for example H1_1_9_33 ?

I have done research on the topic and not enough to go with but i still move forward never to let go so do the same and keep me posted, but my ideal situation would be developing a application so that you have control over the device over a gsm network rather, still trying out the MIDP and others

  • IMac keeps losing network connection

My iMac keeps losing the connection to my AirPort very sporadically, but very often. I keep having to open Network Assistant, choose the AirPort and the network, and re-enter the password. I then get a message that my network connection appears to be working correctly, which it then is. This could happen several times in a few hours.
I have tried creating a new network, but it still happens. We have 6 other devices on this network and do not have a problem with those devices.
    Any advice?

here's a (very crude) screen shot of an iStumbler scan on my MBP
my network is called pegasus. see that it broadcasts on channel 11 (2.4 GHz band) ? see also that there are six other networks broadcasting on the same channel ? now, ideally i would change my channel to broadcast on "5" or "6", but since there are so many networks around, even those would give me interference from other networks nearby.
in the end, i decided to hardwire (using ethernet cables) most of my devices to my router (time capsule) in order to avoid interference alltogether.
also, there could be closed (hidden) networks around that only KisMac would be able to pick up.
lastly, as the read about *wireless interference* revealed, there are other sources that could interfere with your network performance: microwave ovens, cordless phones - heck, even enabling bluetooth on your very own Mac could be a source.
as an alternative to running ethernet cables throughout your place, you could consider *powerline adapters* _*such as these*_.

  • Randomly losing network connection over wireless

Shortly after installing the 10.4.5 software update, my G4 iBook with built-in Airport Extreme card has been losing connection with increasing frequency. Built-in Ethernet use is unaffected. I'm calling this problem thrash-and-drop.
    1. When it's losing signal, processor activity goes through the roof. I had Activity Monitor running during a thrash-and-drop. kernel_task CPU consumption goes from under 1% before the event, to over 80% during the thrashing, and back under 1% after the thrashing stops. The activity is so bad the cursor can't be controlled: using the track pad sends the pointer all over the screen or nowhere at all.
    2. This has been observed to occur with two different wireless base stations: A Linksys WRT54G and an older SMC 802.11b router. Either router is within 10 feet of the computer. Only one is running at a time. There are no other base stations in range.
    3. Another iBook G4 (OS 10.3, Airport Extreme card (not built-in)), sitting next to it, shows no change and its wireless behavior is unaffected.
Initially, this seemed more likely to happen when Safari was loading Flash-heavy pages. And after thrashing and dropping a connection, it was able to reconnect after either a reboot or a five minute sleep. Currently, it can't connect to a base station for more than a minute. Most recently, it thrashed and dropped while I was selecting the base station to use. This is true regardless of the application running. In fact, it will thrash-and-drop when there are no user applications running at all, after a fresh reboot.
I've tried the following things to address the problem. None have affected the thrash-and-drop problem. Admittedly, most of this is random:
    1. Back up and delete network preferences in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    2. Turn off IPv6 in System Preferences/Network
    3. Back up and delete network preferences in ~/Library/Preferences (com.apple.NetInfoManager.plist and com.apple.NetworkUtility.plist)
Has anybody else seen this problem? I want to blame it on the 10.4.5 upgrade but I haven't seen anybody else complaining about 10.4.5 doing this to them. If there's something I can do to fix this in a software setting, I'd much prefer that to yet another roadtrip to the Apple store.
    1.33 GHz G4 iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hi!
I have the same problem of randomly losing network connection over wireless, though mine is hardly related to surfing.
I have an external storage drive in which I use for backup of my stuff, and I access the drive via my modem, using the airport. Of late, I noticed that when copying files from my iBook to the external drive, the connection would suddenly drop before the transfer is completed. This began to occur with increasing frequency, particularly when transferring large files.
I have since abandoned wireless connection, and reverted to my trusty cable. Still, I admit that I'm really curious about the cause of the apparent lack of reliability with my wireless connection. Has it something to do with the airport?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus losing wireless connectivity, cannot scan to computer

In our office, we have roughly 4 computers using the HP Officeject Pro 8600 Plus, all of which are connected wirelessly. The printer was previously connected to the internet wirelessly with no problems. A couple of days ago however our computers started randomly disconnecting. The printing function would work for a bit, then disconnect. I found the only solution to this problem was to hit the button on our wireless router that resends the wireless signal out for connectivity.
We hardwired the printer with an ethernet cable and I myself didn't see any further problems regarding connectivity but a couple of the other computers had spotty connections.  Again, each time this can be remedied by hitting the button on the wireless router.
Today  however we had an additional problem, after trying to scan a document through the automatic document feeder, the printer said it was jammed (although it wasnt). When we went to rescan, the scan to computer function was no longer working. I can scan by hitting the scan button on my HP Printer Assitant interface, and I can also scan to email, but cannot scan to computer.
I have gone through several forums and haven't been able to find a solution. I personally use Windows 8, but other people in our office are using older versions of Windows. We've tried unplugging, restarting, hardwiring, resetting wireless settings, uninstalling, etc. etc. Before a few days ago the pritner was working fine for a number of months.
If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

  • TS3623 IN THE MIDDLE OF A MOVIE ... APPLE TV STOPS WORKING. I HAVE YET TO WATCH A MOVIE FROM BEGINNING TO END WITHOUT APPLE TV LOSING ITS CONNECTION TO MY NETWORK

I PURCHASED MY APPLE TV ON FEBRUARY 7, 2012. I HAVE YET BEEN ABLE TO WATCH AN ITUNES PURCHASED MOVIE FROM BEGINNING TO END WITHOUT IT LOSING ITS CONNECTION TO MY NETWORK.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Sharing an Bluetooth Internet GPRS connection in MacOS and Windows...

    Hallo!
I sucsessfully set up an Bluetooth Internet GPRS connection in MacOS and my phone (SE W880i) added "MyName's Mac" record into its list of trusted devices.
Then I loaded Windows XP SP2 on the same computer and tried to set up Bluetooth Internet GPRS connection there: I paired devices and my phone has OVERWRITEN "MyName's Mac" record, created during MacOS setup, as I think because Bluetooth MAC adress remain the same...
Internet is Windows XP worked fine until I rebooted my Mac back to MacOS where I tried to luanch recently created Bluetooth Internet GPRS connection. MacOS reported the it cannot initialize communication device... Then I reconfigured my phone in MacOS again and Internet worked fine until rebooting to Windows XP, which reported that it cannot open COM port because it's busy...
Main clue of it is that I have to reinstall my Bluetooth Internet GPRS connection each time I load to different system either MacOS or Windows...
Could you please help my to obtain very needed friendship...

Grrrrr.....makes me miss my stupid PC set up as I could force it to do what I want!
Intermittent connection screws up Netflix, VOIP phone, Amazon, Streaming music via Spotify/Pandora, general internet access.....whole family is ****** off.
    Any tips/tricks/ideas???
    dave

Downgrade firmware to 7.6.1 .. as the latest is just lousy.
It is easy to downgrade.. hold down the option key whilst you click the version number. in Macs.. lots of stuff is hidden behind an option key.
I also strongly recommend a factory reset and use all SMB names.. not apple type names..
    ie TC name.. TCgen4
Wireless name TCwifi (or give names to both bands.. TC24ghz and TC5ghz).
That helps all the non-apple part of the world.. connect.
Also Mavericks has now changed over to SMB as well. So even Mac is now windows networking.
Generally these two things. .7.6.1 firmware and SMB names will fix it.. if not post again as is another step that is possible.. controlling the WAN speed of the TC.

  • Losing Internet Connections

I switched from a Linksys wired router to the Airport Extreme wireless and did not experience any problems until recently. For the past couple of weeks I occasionally lose connection to the internet. The 4 lights on my cable modem that are suppose to stay lit sometimes flashes. Computers that are connected to the AE includes an iMAC running Snow Leopard, a Windows Vista machine, and 2 XP machines (through a Linkysy hub). The problem happens regardless of which machine I use (ethernet cable). When I called my cable company they claim everything is fine on their end and suggested I get a new modem.
Before spending $75.00 for a new modem, which might not fix the problem, I decided to re-boot the cable modem and attach it my original Linksys router and hub, and it seems to be working fine. I've been using the original configuration for about an hour without losing the connection (i.e., all of the lights on the modem that are suppose to be on are on).
Are there settings within AE that I need to change to address this issue?

I've been having the same problem ever since I updated my software. I only have access to dial-up which makes downloading anything a pain in the ##%! In the past I have been patient, but now I get a message indicating that I have to chose to stay connected. Can't say how often it occurs, but it is at least less than an hour. I cannot sit at my computer while a file, that is going to take 4 hours is downloading, however if I don't I am disconnected and would have to start the download all over again. I have looked at all possible preferences to see if there is somewhere to resolve the problem, but to no avail. There has to be a way to get rid of this annoyance. Please help!
