  • Why do I loss internet connections at frequent intervals while watching netflix moviesx

I have airport express which serves as wireless connection to my tv to watch netflix movies.I have roku xd as a streamer. At almostevery 7-10 minutes, I loss connection to the internet interrupting my movies . This happens at least 9 times thru a period of 1 hr. watch. Any thoght on this.

I would suspect inadequate bandwidth as the most likely reason ... and potentially Wi-Fi interference as the most likely culprit that is causing it.
Have you done any data transfer rate measurements on your local network or checked for any type of Wi-Fi interference that may be present in the area that may be preventing the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) from providing a clean signal to the Roku & TV?
Is the AXn the only wireless router in your local network?

    Thanks!

Mine forgot all my passwords few days back, I re-installed firmware using Nokia software updater. I didn't charge immediately after phone battery went dead, when I charged it phone wouldn't connect to any of online services. First try 'Restore settings' under settings > Reset. Go for firmware re-install if that didn't work. Good luck.

  • Loss of internet connectivity after upgrading to windows 8.1

Hi, After upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 i am experiencing major problems , loss of internet connectivity for no reason both I.E. and G/CHROME are now taking an age to open there are no virus issues as far as i can see.
I have uninstalled and re-installed  windows 8.1 about four times over the past 9 months or so and the same thing happens after all the updates are in it runs like a dream for say 6weeks or so then i get the same faults as described above then i uninstall/ re-install ok for 6 weeks .
I would apprieate any help or advice thanks

    Hi @BMATH
    Thank you your query.
I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 about every 6 weeks you loose wireless connectivity for no reason  and the web pages are very slow to open.  If you uninstall and reinstall Windows 8.1 it works fine again for about the same amount of time.  You have done this about 4 times with the same result each time.
Do you know if there is any changes at that time , perhaps an update?
You stated you do not believe you have any viruses.  Just to be sure here are two links that will help confirm that.

  • WRT600N loss of internet connection on reboot

    Folks
I realise this is an older router, but its been very dependable with one exception.
I have the latest flash installed. I am making use of all the options available to this router. USB drive set up as a file server, both radio bands have devices which attach. All wifi security is wpa2 with a complex key string. Also have pc’s attached to all lan ports. I also have all the wireless devices registered on the mac address filter for access set to enable/allow. I have a total of 9 mac address in the list. One lan device is on the DMZ. One address is reserved. Not sure what other details you need.
Router is used for online gaming, video streaming, and typical internet browsing.
The problem I have is if the router is powered off for any reason. After power back on, the internet access is severed. Intranet activity works fine, and even can run a “trace” to an out side address, but devices on the network don’t have access. The only way I have been able to recover the access, is factory reset the router, and reprogram it from scratch, which it will then work again until the router has a loss of power.
When I look at settings after a power outage, all setting seem to be there. I don't see any loss or change of settings.
Any ideas? (config save/restore never works)
    Mark

This isn't a really cheap answer, but I'd consider having my router and modem on a UPS (uninterruptible power supply).  This will save your router, in most cases, from experiencing power outages and brownouts.  My router and cable modem are both on a UPS, and they stay on for quite a bit of time after the power fails, and usually don't even experience a power outage.  This is kind of an indirect answer to your concern, but I'm a firm believer in UPS's for the health of my electronic devices.  They provide both power and surge protection as well, but do cost a little money.  I've lost some expensive items as the result of power failures that did weird things (like rapid on/off cycles).
This doesn't help you if you have to power it off yourself for some reason.  I can certainly see how this would be frustrating, but I don't know if there's a solution to the basic problem of loss of connection after you power it back on.

  • Sporadic Rotating Loss of Internet Connection for Just Some Devices

    Hi,
We've been having a problem where one or two of our devices (phones, laptops, iPads, Apple TV) lose internet connection for 10-30 sec at a time, while the others are fine.
As best as I can tell it's a full loss of connection, not just something running very slowly due to us pushing the bandwidth limits. I've experienced the latter elsewhere and this manifests very differently. It will instantly and fully disconnect a person from an online game or drop a skype call without the accompanying prolonged lag or distortion of bottlenecked bandwidth.
It happens at all times of day, and does not seem related to our peak times of bandwidth usage, nor the general public's peak times of usage.
We should have enough bandwidh for our usage, and usually we do. Our system is 25/25 Mbps and during our peak use at most we would probably have 1 laptop gaming, 1 HD video stream, and 2 non-HD streams. However, like I said before, the problem seems unrelated to overall bandwidth usage. The same problem occurs even at midnight when our local usage is minimal.
Overall we have 6 laptops, 5 phones, an iPad, 2 microcell signal boosters, and Apple TV, in total connected to the FiOS. We have a property with tenants where the signal is distributed via 3 WiFi routers and one direct ethernet cable to my laptop, and one to the Apple TV.
It happens on devices that are both connected through the WiFi (wife's laptop, phones, iPad) and ethernet (my laptop, Apple TV). It can happen with devices that are a few unobstructed feet from the WiFi router. However, it anecdotely seems to happen more on our phones than laptops.
My hunch is it is something outside our local network. This is because our equipment  and usage has basically remained unchanged over the last couple months. (We got one new microcell tower for a different carrier, one new wifi router, but overall same # of people and patterns of usage.) And yet the problem seems to be getting worse. Back in probably early November I don't remember this problem occuring at all.
My second best guess is there are more devices connected to the network than it can handle simultaneously, and it rotates which gets kicked off. Maybe this was occuring before but we didnt realize it.
My third guess is it has to due with signal interference with the various WiFi routers and microcell boosters. However, this seems less likely since it also affects devices connected via ethernet cables.
Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated! Thanks!
    -Ned

Ok, so in the mean time we decided to upgrade our service so I've only tried this solution now.
My problem though now is I can log into 192.168.1.1, then give my verizon admin password, and then set my channel preference. That seems fine for changing the main network input and wifi router (call it A).
However, we have another wifi router (call it B) which is fed from A via a cable. I cannot figure out how to change B's wifi channel. Therefore I worry if we have only switched A, since A feeds B (as well as the 2 microcells) they will all still be on the same channel and therefore still interfering with each other.
I have tried www.routerlogin.net (and .com) as written on my netgear router and I get "http://searchassist.verizon.com/" telling me "Sorry, We could not find www.routerlogin.net". I have also tried logging into wifi router B via all the 192.168.1.X addresses I see listed on the Verzion account when I log in via 192.168.1.1 (in total I tried all the 192.168.1.[1-24] options).
    Thanks for the help!

  • Internet connection loss...

Hi there... I'll try and explain this as best as I can, I don't think this is exactly a Mac problem but we don't seem to have the issue with the PC's in the house.
Basically, for one reason or another I seem to get 'interruptions' of some sort in my internet connection which seem to cause very brief losses in my internet connection resulting in my computer thinking that there is no internet, even though as soon as you go back to something it's working again.
For example, I'll be downloading something and the downloads will suddenly display 'no internet connection' and as soon as you hit resume it's fine again. Or in YouTube the video will stop playing halfway through even though the red line has reached the end (if that makes sense), it's as if it got a signal saying 'you've got the whole video now' even when it hasn't.
This makes life difficult for lots of reasons, but the main one being that certain updates or large files I can't download because they don't let you 'resume' from the amount it's already downloaded. Subsequently I have to start again and you can guarantee that it won't get up to the 130mb (or whatever) before it seems to lose the connection again.
I hope this makes sense! I've just lived with it ever since I moved here but I'm getting continually fed up with it. I do live in a small village at the very end of a phone line and I do get very slow broadband as a result (they told me that on the phone), but how I check for what's going on here I don't know.
The strange thing is 2 PC's in the house don't seem to suffer from the same problem. You can always download anything on them and no interruptions (at least I think that's true, I don't actually use them much but I did recently download a 450mb file that the Mac just wouldn't do).
I will happily provide more info if it's useful, I'm just trying to get the general idea across here. If anyone knows where to point me or what I should do I'd be very grateful.
    Cheers! Sidx

Hi, I've only just read the 'Intermittent WIFI' thread here, and wonder if this is the problem I'm experiencing? I do get what is being described in that thread (and will add to it later), but I experience drop outs even when airport doesn't visibly start scanning, i.e. the dropouts happen when I appear to have full connectivity to my router. I only get the 'airport scanning' issue every now and then, maybe once a week, maybe less. But then I'm nearly always plugged in if that makes a difference..?

  • Airport + WDS: Internet connection losses

    Good morning all!
I have a WDS network with
    - one Airport Express (Called "A") used to ditribute an Internet connection. This is the WDS main station.
    - one Airport Express (Called "B") that extends the initial network AND that streams audio with Airtunes. It is a WDS remote station.
When I surf the net (via "A") during a song is streamed on "b", I loose my IP address, the audio stream is down, the Internet connection too, and I must ask a new IP address (via the "repair" button) to restart a new stream on "B".
Each time I click on a link the same problem repeats!
Could somebody tell me how I could solve this problem please?
Thank you so much and best regards,
    Geoffrey

I am going under the pretense you have seen this set-up diagram.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107454
Be sure to take special care to read this set-up thoroughly. As another point of interest sometimes Interference can cause a loss of or interuption in the signal. Sometimes a simple relocation of the main can do the trick, while at other times it may require you to find and eliminate this issue such as.

The above link will give you some guidelines to follow.

  • Internet Connection loss after losing connection between 2 sites

    Hello,
I have started working for a company over a year ago and recently we are running into an issue with losing internet after a loss of connection between companies site.  Below is a summary of setup.
Company has 2 locations, Site A and Site B..both same domain
Site A has DC and other servers such as ERP, Document Control Software.
Site B has DC, Printer Server, File Server and other essentials servers.
Each site has own independed 20 MB connection.
Site A and B are linked via MPLS and only used for ERP, Document Control software, and DC traffic.
Recently we started to have frequent connection issues with the MPLS and as a result I started to notice none of the users at Site B can access the internet such as google.com, msn.com...etc. As soon as MPLS connection is restored interent works.
The DC at Site B was setup before I started working for company.
I have been trying for the past few days to figure out why Site B is losing connection when MPLS Tunnel is not operational...but so far no luck.
I am very sure that internet traffic is not routed via MPLS because when internet is working the IP lookup such as "whatismyipaddress.com" points to ISP IP address for site B. Also when doing tracert to external website the route is via ISP for
    Site B.
I think this issue is related to DNS but cannot tell the cause or how to fix?
    Thanks for assistance in advance.

    Hi
Having said internet is not routing via MPLS, Even i think to be a DNS issues,
    Try to check the below
Ensure all the client DNS is set to AD DNS server
In AD DNS server ensure its not forwarding DNS query to Other site
During outage check any client PC manually changing the DNS IP to 4.2.2.2
    - all client DNS are set to AD DNS server
    - I checked the properties for the AD DNS and found there are 3 forwarders listed.
The first IP is at Site A which is resolved.
The second IP I am not sure about since it is not even in our subnet (not resolved)
The 3rd IP seemed to be for an old DC that is no longer operational (not resolved).
    - During outage if I change client machine DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.2 they can access the internet.
I guess my issue is with the forwarders. Would the right step be remove all 3 forwarded and add 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2?
    Thanks.

  • Frequent loss of internet connection has me stumped ideas anyone???

I have an almost new 24" Imac and I have been having connection issues recently with Comcast and I am going, no wait am insane. I had a Belkin router that was going flaky and got a new one but it was worse than the old one and after trying no router for a week and no lost connections I bought a Linksys and it was great for about 3 weeks and then suddenly loss of connection again. I used to have both a G4 QS733 and also an Intel Mini that had similar problems, the Mini was so bad in fact I ended up exchanging and selling the new on Ebay without even opening it up. I have replaced EVERYTHING in the past year startiing at the pole every cable and ethernet cable as well as the modem and the router (3x on that) and the computer has been changed out. I noticed when this happens my pc is still able to connect which makes it even worse because it all leads back to the apple being the problem. I noticed the problem returned a few days ago and I think it was right after a bunch of updates ( I currently am running 10.4.10) so maybe that is the problem??? Just seems weird to have a total of 8, yes 8 macs have the exact same problem but I have had about 40 different pc based laptops hooked to the same connection at various times and NONE had a problem. I get the feeling this is a simple incompatibilty issue between the Apple and the routers but I am out of ideas.
24" iMac 400 Pismo Panasonic Toughbook cf-28 for work   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Tim Hartzell!
I may be off-base here, and my apologies if so, but I have a feeling you're having exactly the same connection issue with each of your Macs, not because they are not compatible, because they are in fact compatible, but due to misunderstanding how to perform one particular step of the initial setup of the Mac. This comment is not meant to slight you, as at one point I did EXACTLY the same thing and had the same results (I once used Comcast), and that's why I'm answering your question.
This isn't unusual if during setup of a Mac (the Welcome! procedure/program) you incorrectly identify and answer the question at the top of one particular page in the setup process:
"How Do You Connect to the Internet?"
    Recall that one?
The question means how does your Mac connect - not how does your network connect. Therefore, if you are connected to Comcast via a cable modem, then have a router wired to it, and your Mac wired to the router with an ethernet cable, the answer should be:
"I connect to my local area network (LAN)."
You should NOT answer: "I use a cable modem to connect to the Internet."
If your ever change your Mac's connection back so that it is no longer connected to your network, but is instead connected directly to the cable modem, you'll find the same issue in reverse, and you'll have to reconfigure by answering with: "I use a cable modem to connect to the Internet."
The good news is that there's an easy fix, and you don't have to dig out the Install Discs and re-install your OS to fix your problem, nor do you reconfigure all your settings each time you change your connection method. Simply:
Open System Preferences, open the Network panel, click on the "Assist me..." button at the bottom of the panel, followed by clicking the blue "Assistant..." button in the drop-down box. [Do NOT click the "Diagnostics..." button.]
"Network Setup Assistant" will open while System Preferences will remain open behind it. On the "Introduction" pane, for convenience enter "ethernet to router" in the "Location Name:" box and click the "Continue" button. On the "How Do You Connect to the Internet?" pane, activate (by clicking) the radio button left of "I connect to my local area network (LAN)." and then click the "Continue" button.
Read and proceed. After configuration is completed you will see in bold at the top "Congratulations! You Are Connected." Click the "Done" button and Network Setup Assistant will close and quit. There should be a message box in front of System Preferences stating that "Your network settings have been changed by another application." That's as it should be, since you just used another app to make those changes, so click "OK" and close.
Finally, change the "Show:" selector to "Network Port Configurations" and select (highlight) the line "Built-in Ethernet" and simply use the mouse to drag the entire line to the top of the list. If you use wireless to connect to a printer, move "AirPort" into second position on the list, and follow by clicking the "Apply Now" button at bottom right.
The above will change none of the previous settings in other configurations that are maintained in the Network panel of System Preferences. The name of each of those different configurations is displayed in the "Location:" selector for you to choose how you wish to be connected. You should now see on that selector the name you earlier gave this new configuration - "ethernet to router"
While it may appear to be confusing, you'll notice that after you switch from one configuration name to another and have clicked the "Apply Now" button - the settings that you will see on each pane will be the ones that are appropriate for that configuration. That means that if you want to connect directly to your cable modem again, bypassing your router and your network, you'll need to change the "Location:" selector back from "ethernet to router" to whatever the current setting is called, followed by clicking the "Apply Now" button.
Once you have a working configuration, be careful not to edit any of its particular settings followed by clicking the "Apply Now" button, as that will alter the configuration so that it may no longer work.
Rather than haphazardly editing a working configuration, it's less confusing to simply initiate an entirely new configuration, as you've just done above. If that would then continue to work better for you, say for a month or so, then the prior configuration, and other old configurations, may no longer be necessary, and can be deleted from the "Location:" selector.

  • Intermittent loss of internet connection on Homehu...

    Hi Everyone
I have recently taken out a new contract with BT and connected my new Homehub 4 on the 14th February.  Seemly it was okay for at least 5 days then I started to experience some intermittent loss of internet on all of the devices, i.e PC, laptop, xbox, it effected both wired and wireless.  The hub was showing orange light, which then prompt me to press the reset/restart button on top of the hub.
I have try out my old Homehub 1 for 3 days to see if it effected that one too, but the hub 1 was perfect in term of no loss of connection for 3 day.
Then I connect homehub 4 again on Fri 28th February it was okay for a day, except on 1st march in the morning hub seem to disconnect/reconnect itself. Then around 2310 pm I have loss all connection to the internet through all of my devices again.
Does anyone know what this problem is?  It is to do with BT-Wifi Fon, or is the hub 4 faulty and need replacing?
    Many Thanks

It was orange central broadband light, there were no other light showing on the silver part.
I have not tried test socket yet, however, I did have a new master socket and line replaced couple year ago, so it would have the new faceplate on there. Plus, the external line etc must be working since hub 1 was working perfectly.

  • Unexpected shutdowns and loss of internet connectivity on brand new 420t

    Hi,
I was experiencing unexpected shutdowns (would see safe mode choices when turned PC back on) and also intermittent internet connectivity issues.
    To Fix:
In device manager, I turned off the option in the Realtek Network Controller Power management tab to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
It's been working like a charm so far (2 days). I'm not so sure HP should be building PCs with this option set. There are no updates that I haven't installed either. PC still sleeps (can see nic lights go off) and wakes up just fine.
Other that that we really like this PC...Beats Audio wasn't impressive with only the internal speakers, then I tried a good set of external tweeters and a subwoofer and then it was realized.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Troy,
Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds like you've heard that others have had this problem. Is that right?
And are you suggesting that the kernel panics and the loss of Internet connection are related? They often happen independently of one another.

  • Apple Mobile Device Support uninstall and itunes install causes loss of internet connection

Whenever I uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS)  I lose my internet connection. The only way to fix this is to restore Windows to a previous state. I've tried  troubleshooting my internet connection when this happens but Windows tells me something is wrong with both my wired and wireless connection drivers... and of course I need the internet to fix said drivers :s
I've tried repairing AMDS and this doesn't help either.
I've been trying to download itunes but it tells me a program needed to install it cannot be run. After this I can't get back on the internet without first restoring windows to a previous state. I thought that uninstalling everything apple from my system would do the trick but I can't seem to uninstall AMDS without messing up my internet drivers. What else can I try?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • 10.7.4 causing hangs and loss of internet connection

Since the update I have had applications hanging and crashing. Mostly Mail, iTunes, and Safari.  What is more annoying however is when the computer is inactive for an hour or so, I lose internet connectivity and have to shut down and reboot in order to get it back. I am on a wired connection and sharing another wired connection through the second ethernet port. Has anyone had these issues? It seems like 10.7.4 really messed with my machine...

Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.
