Lost folder after packaing a document for print

Has anyone had a complete folder deleted after packaging it to send to print?

And I mentioned a known problem with names changing to aliases on a network, but you didn't respond about where this folder was located, so I wasn't sure.
As Dov said, nobody has ever reported a complete loss of a folder after packaging. Since as far as we know this has never happened, we hardly are in a position to say why it happened, if, in fact that really is what happened.
You said you searched. Was that using spotlight, or did you openthe location in Finder where the folder used to be and look to see what was there?

  • I would like to print out the icon and title of each of my apps to another document for printing and sharing within my family

I would like to print out the icon and title of each of my IOS apps to another document for printing and sharing within my family.  My son has my old iPod touch so I erased it so he could put whatever games he wants to play on that I used to play with.  It is difficult to download every game at one time because there is too much to download at one time.  I have many hundreds of apps.  One way I found was to create a screen grab of each page in iTunes  then open it in Preview contact sheet but that is really tiny unreadable image of each screen.  I also tried importing a screen shot of the contact sheet into Paint 2 and magnifying it on several pages but that is really blurry.  The ideal solution would be to import the icon and text to another app or to provide a print list of apps solution within iTunes.

Create iPad screen shots by briefly pressing the home and on/off buttons together.  You will hear a shutter click sound and find a screen shot on your iPad's Camera Roll.  You can then print these screen shots as you would any iPad photos.
UPDATE: I assumed you had an iPad.  Hopefully your iOS device does have an on/off and home button and is capable of producing screen shots.

Idon't need the text which couldn'be seen.

  • Location of Book folder after creation of Book for validation

As part of the Print Book process in A3 one can request that a softcopy of the book is made available for inspection. This is viewed automatically by Preview.
If one asks to Save AS the file one sees that the file is in a folder called Book with a name that starts fstpBook.....
Where is this folder located? - I have used Tinkertools to make invisble items on the drive visible but cannot seee the folder or the pdf file.
Of course I can complete the Save As process to save the file to a known directory - but I would like to know where Aperture puts the file
    Thanks for any info

I've just had this. The dropbox preferences are in a hidden directory (.dropbox) in your home folder. Delete that and it should start up as it would with a clean install.
    To do this:
    Open terminal
    run 'sudo rm -r .dropbox'
    enter your password
That *should* sort it. I'd renamed my home directory and this messed it up, before I did the steps above I created an alias to my new location that matched to old name, I'm not sure if this is needed but worth a try if the above doesn't sort it..

  • HT201302 How to move photos from a folder onto the Camera Roll for printing?

I have a folder of photos that I imported to my iphone4, I want them in my Camera roll instead of in the folder so that I can get them printed. How can I do this?
All the digital printing places here will only link to the camera roll, not to the folders, for some reason.
Would appreciate any help with this, Thanks.

That is dissappointing, but expected I guess. Thanks for your help!

  • How do you use RGB And CMKY colours in the same document for print?

I want to create a piece of work with a navy blue back ground and a font on top but don't want to change the colour just the RGB to CMKY mode so the colour looks slightly brighter sitting on top. I have seen this printed out in black and looks amazing but don't know how to create it. Could someone please help?

    Sophie,
Your File>Document Color Mode (along with the Edit>Color Settings) determines how the colours are interpreted, more specifically fitting it into the colour gaumt in question. CMYK Color (Mode) had a narrower gamut of less bright colours, RGB has a wider gamut of more vivid colours.
Your Window>Color palette expresses the colours in terms of your chosen combinations of CMYK or RGB (or a few others) values, which are then interpreted by the colour mode.
This means that you can have four combinations: you may insert CMYK values in both CMYK and RGB mode, and you can insert RGB colours in both CMYK and RGB mode.
You will find that most CMYK/RGB values will change once saved, owing to the fundamental differences between the two colour modes.

  • Lost photos after syncing iphone 4 for the first time

I just connected my iphone4 to my pc for the first time and now my pictures are all gone (on both computer and phone). Any way to get them back?

Sounds like you performed a sync to an empty Outlook, correct? You never want to sync to an empty application. Doing so will erase the data on your phone. Before you do anything else, put one unique contact, calendar & note entry in Outlook.
As to restoring your lost data, the key question is have you performed a sync since the sync that erased your data? If not, restoring from backup will restore the data. If you have synced since that initial sync, your data is gone. So, if you have not synced, do this: First disable auto-sync in iTunes>Preferences>Devices(under the edit menu if using Windows). Connect your phone, right-click in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings". Right-click again and select "Restore from Backup". If prompted to create another backup, decline. When the restore completes, you must then sync to restore your iTunes content. You'll get a popup regarding your contacts, etc., asking to "Merge" or "Replace". Select "Merge".

  • Plugging values into a document for printing

    All,
I have a scenario where I will have online documents. The documents themselves can be formatted in HTML so I don't have to worry about Word or PDF format interfaces, but look and feel of the layout is a big concern for me since they will be used as legal contracts.
I will have a table filled with values (i.e. name, address, email address) that I want plugged into specific areas of the document.
For example, the document will read:
    <sample>
For and in consideration of the sum of #value_here# to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, #another_value# hereby grant bla, bla, bla
    </sample>
I'm looking for the best advice on how to implement this solution, keeping in mind that layout has to be very precise.
    Thanks!

if your htmldb application has items like :VALUE_HERE and :ANOTHER_VALUE, then you can refer to them in your HTML using our substitution string syntax like...
For and in consideration of the sum of &VALUE_HERE. to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, &ANOTHER_VALUE. hereby grant bla, bla, bla
...and that way you can make the layout as precise as you need it to be. also, even though you said you didn't need it, the thread at...
    PDF file creation
...offers good pointers for generating pdf docs from your htmldb app, and better yet, improvements in this area are soon to come.
    hope this helps,
    raj

  • I want to create a document for printing and when changing the cropping area data log restart

    PLE

    Tom,
In addition to what Monika said, the document can be either CMYK or RGB Colr Mode, but not both.
And you are right in starting with the CMYK because that will ensure (to the degree possible) that the CMYK and RGB versions match in colour (gamut, the CMYK gamut being the more linited and almost entirely included in the RGB gamut); this will prevent more vivid RGB colours which will make the CMYK colours seem duller.

  • Help - setting up a document for A4 printing

    Hi everyone,
I am very new to InDesign - using CS5.5. Trying to set up my first A4 document for printing. I an unsure of the printers settings but just want to check in the document - i need to have my background image right to edge of the bleed (3mm), and any text needs to be kept inside the magenta box - or can it go right out to the black line?
My image isn't quite big enough to go right to the top on the bleed line so i have used the same color rectanlge at the top . . . will this work? You can tell its a differnt image. Needs to go right to the edge of the page.
Is there any I need to do specifically to set this up to be printed ? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/comments

Bleed is area outside the theoretical trim area of your page and it is used to compensate for misalignments during cutting. A typical bleed would be 1/8" or 3mm and any art or color that is intended to reach to the edge of the page after trimming should extend beyond the page edge (black line) by that amount. Set up the document at the trim size (in this case A4) and then press the more options button in the document setup dialog to reveal the Bleed and Slug fields. Enter the bleed amount and press OK and you'll see a new red guide outside the page boundary. Is this a facing apges document? How many pages? How will it be bound?
I'm guessing the Magenta box woould be the margin guides. These are set by you according to what you want, so there is no hard and fast rule for where they might be. Text and other critical content should always be set inside the page bound at least as much as the bleed allowance, however (and I prefer more), because if the cutting is off it will shift the trim outside the page area on one edge, but also inside the page by the same amount on the opposite edge and you don't want the text to be cut off or crowded at the edge.
If your photo is not large enough to extend into the bleed area you shoud either enlarge it, if that won't reduce the resolution too much, find another photo that is big enough, or redisign the page so the phot itself does not need to bleed. A transition form a photo to a colored background, no matter how similar, is nearly always visible.

  • Embedding fonts and images for printing (press quality PDF)

I have a question about a document I have produced in InDesign that needs to go to the printers. They have told me to make sure it is a print ready document with all of the fonts and images embedded. When I convert an indd document for printing 'locally', I normally just use the Adobe PDF presets and select press quality. I thought ID works its magic and does everything required to make it print ready. Is there anything else I need to do regarding fonts and images to make the PDF ready for print?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Thank you.
As to bleeds, the printers came back and said my pdf is okay but that yes, I need to set an extra bleed edge of minimum 3mm. Do I set this when converting to the print quality pdf or do I set this whilst working in the actual INDD document itself?
Is the bleed then on every page regardless of the content?
What are the steps for setting bleed and crop marks. Does that mean when I place an image for example on a page the image needs to hang slightly off the edges by 3mm or am I barking up the wrong tree?

  • Export file in specified format for printing labels etc (BOnewbee question)

    Hello to all,
has anyone experiences with generating a export file in special text-format to a directory???.
Is ist possible to generate this file after some action in BO?? (Printing delivery form and after that generate file for printing barcodelabel in special application???)
Sorry, but i dont have any programming experiences in BO - only in SAP R/3 with ABAP.
Thanks in advance for your replies!

There are a number of ways to do this.  You could use the SDK to trap an event and then automate your barcode printing from .net.  You could also use middleware (iBolt, K2, biztalk, etc) You might also write a SQL DTS job with an associated trigger to save out a text file.
I guess the answer to your question depends on how big your company is, how spread out your IT resources are and what technical resources you have to dedicate to the project.

  • Adobe 9.2 "preparing document" when printing

I have a new HP laptop here at my property with Windows 7 (x32) and when she selects "print", it pops up the "preparing document for printing", but you can click past this window, but it still shows up.
She tried it on our 4250 HP Laserjet, it also does the same thing on out Ricoh MPC7500 color copier/printer. The HP is using PCL drivers, while the Ricoh is using it's own "brand" of drivers.
    Anyone have any ideas?

You are not at the latest version of Acrobat 9. Keep updating. The latest is something like 9.5.3

  • How can I save a Adobe document to print duplex for other users.

I want to create a doc using Adobe and be able to set it to print duplex by other users without the user needed to go into printer settings.
All the user has to do is click print on there computer and the doc. will print duplex. The users have Adobe Reader installed.

It is possible to set a default value for the Adobe Reader or Acrobat print dialog on a document basis. After the document is created, go to Document Properties (Ctrl-D), and select the Advanced tab. Go to the DuplexMode setting. Normally, this is set to Simplex, i.e. single sided printing. You can also set it to either Duplex Flip Long Edge or Duplex Flip Short Edge depending upon your needs. Duplex Flip Long Edge is normally used for printing of “portrait” orientation content with Duplex Flip Short Edge typically used for printing of “landscape” orientation content. Then save the PDF file (typically, “save as” should be used).
Important notes: Obviously, this only works if the PDF file is being opened by one of the applications that even bothers to look at these settings. Adobe Reader and Acrobat do. Don't count on MacOS Preview or other applications to do so! Furthermore (and somewhat obviously), this setting is only observed with print devices that directly support duplex printing. And finally, this does not force the user to print duplex. It simply pre-populates the print dialog; the user can change the setting.

  • HP Laserjet 3055 printer "waiting for printer to be available" after HP Printer Software Update 3.0

I have an HP Laserjet 3055 All-in-One Printer. It has been printing just fine from my iMac running OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks) until after the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0, that I installed on 1 Oct 2014. Although the 3055 is shown as connected/idle to my iMac via USB, after clicking "PRINT" for a document, the print queue status soon changes from "printing" to "waiting for printer to become available", and the printer never becomes available. I have tried rebooting everything (printer, computer, text software), checking USB cable connections and changing USB ports, deleting and re-adding the 3055 printer (numerous times!) even after resetting the print system, but could there be something inherently wrong with the latest HP driver (version 19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052)? Or is it possible something else is going on?  In other words, I have exhausted all the solutions I've found in these and other forums to no avail.
I have tested this printer by connecting it to my MacBook Pro (also running OX 10.9.5) but without having installed the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0. (Hadn't gotten around to this update...) The printer works fine, even though the driver has the same version number--19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052. So could the version 19.9 driver in the latest HP Printer Software Update be corrupted? Is there any way to reinstall that driver? Or copy the 19.9 driver from my MacBook Pro and install it on the iMac? HP only refers to the Apple Software Update process for Mavericks compatible drivers for this printer. Can I manually uninstall the HP driver for the Laserjet 3055 from my iMac and then have the iMac download the driver again in the process of re-setting up the 3055? Any suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks for your suggestions. After creating a bootable back-up, I tried the first suggestion--downloading and re-installing the HP printer driver update kit for which you kindly provided the link--but to no avail. Before downloading the driver update kit, I "reset the printing system", clearing all the installed printers, queues, etc. After re-installing the HP printer drivers, I went to System Preferences>Printers & Scanners to once again add the HP LaserJet 3055 only to discover it was already listed as installed! This I find baffling, to say then least. I tried printing and again got the "waiting for printer to be available" message. I subsequently tried deleting and re-adding the printer, going through the printing system reset again, but still no-go.
I also tried another approach to adding the printer which perhaps will shed some light on the problem. After clicking on the "+" button to add the printer, I select the "HP LaserJet 3055" which shows up as available via USB. Then, instead of using the "HP LaserJet 3052" driver that automatically appears in the "Use" [choose a driver] field, I chose "Auto Select" to see what happens. As the computer processes this request, the status message changes from "Gathering printer information..." to "Waiting for printer to become available..." And, of course, it never becomes available. This strikes me as odd, that the printer set-up system "sees" the printer accurately enough to list it as available to add but can't find it with the "Auto Select" approach to getting the appropriate driver. Of course, when I simply go with the "Use HP LaserJet 3052" driver option that, naturally enough, is the one automatically suggested by the printer set-up system, the printer is "successfully" added. I say "successfully" in quotes because it never becomes "available" to print something.
Before I try your second suggestion--downloading and re-installing the 10.9.5 combo update--I wonder if it's possible that the printing system reset process is "broken". It's as though the reset fails to clear the printer queue, making it appear that there is a pending printing job that the system is waiting to be finished. Also, as noted above, I reset the printing system prior to re-installing the HP printer driver update kit and then, after installation, the HP LaserJet 3055 magically had already been added. This makes me wonder if the printer wasn't properly "cleared" from whatever makes up the printer System Preference process during the reset.
    Any other thoughts?
