Lots of network devices in SCOM are showing grey status

I have added an additional MS to the resource pool, but the network devices still show a grey status.

  • Play To device error / libraries are showing up empty

    Media is not fine yet.
When i try to use Play To another device (different Windows 7 pc) it fails. (failed to retrieve media information)
The WMP instances are seeing each other and the libraries are showing up, but no Play to
The libraries are also showing up but, they are all empty, except pictures and video's.
Could this be caused by indexing, perhaps i first need to leave all my Pc's on with Media Player running until the index blackboxes are done withe there indexing magic...????

I am not sure if this is solved or not...but I found the solution last night after I spent the most frustrating 5 hours of my life! This is surely a windows problem. I recently replaced my HP laptop with a Dell Vostro 3450 and I suddenly found that 'Play
To' feature wasn't working with my Samsung LED TV UA55C8000 .To confirm that it wasn't a firewall or format related issue I even used Samsung PC Share software on my PC to act as the DLNA server...With PC share as the server WMP12 didnt find any problems 'Contacting
the Media Server' ...but with its own library it just remained stuck there, with an eventual failure message. [Point to be noted was that even when it failed to contact the media server, I could control the TV volume using the same window!]
This is what did the trick for me:
    1. Closed WMP12.
    2. Go to Services [Control Panel->System and Security->Administrative Tools->Services]
    3. Locate the service with name 'Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service'
    4. Stop the Service manually.
    5. Locate the service 'UpnP Device Host'. Stop the service and start it again.
    6. Start 'Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service' now.
    7. Close control panel and all associated windows. Open Windows Media Player...right click on a playlist and see if PlayTo option lists the TV. Try playing now...it started playing for me at this stage!

  • Jco destiantions are with greyed status in webdynpro content administrator

    Hi All
In webdynpro content administrator of BI System all the jco destinations are displatyed with greyed status, even i tried to create new destination with any name the message comes use another destination,it is already used in sld.the connection to sld is working fine.i am using the user as j2ee_admin.
    kindly help me out.
    Regards
    Pranav

    Hi Pranav
If the SLD is working fine then you need to check the below thing :-
    1. Check the SLD Data Supplier in the Visual Administrator and update the correct information and test it.
    2. Update Host and service file for server in the server system for jco destinations visibility.
Refer to [System Landscape Directory Process and JCo Configuration|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0c1d495-048e-2b10-babd-924a136f56b5?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
    Hope it will helps.

  • How to remove network devices through powershell? (scom 2012)

    Hi
Could anyone says how to delete network device in SCOM 2012 through powershell?
    In 2007 we have Get-RemotelyManagedDevice.
I have a big number network device in monitoring and now need delete some of them with specific filter, all switches.
    How to do it?
    Thanks
    Alex

The devices were discovered by an old Management Server that was reinstalled.
I finally got those devices out of my SCOM environment using this SQL query (just replace networkdevicename):
    UPDATE
    BaseManagedEntity
    SET
    isdeleted=1
    from
    BaseManagedEntity where
    BaseManagedEntityId in
    (select
    BaseManagedEntityId from
    BaseManagedEntity where
    displayname like
    '%networkdevicename%')

  • Multiple Network Device Groups when importing to ISE using template

I have a question about importing a group of network devices into ISE using the template provided. The template only has a single column for Network Device Groups - is there a way to import devices and include more than one NDG? For instance, the NDG's we use are "Device Type" and "Location". I'd like to include both when doing my import and I've tried multiple ways to seperate the two strings within the column (comma's colons, semi-colons, spaces, pipes, tabs, etc), but i always get an error message that "NDG group does not exist". I also tried adding a new column into the template, but that just plain failed to import.
If there is any way to do this, I would appreciate any advice on how - I have to add about 40 devices per week to our ISE deployment and I'd rather not have to go in and add any parameters manually if it can be helped. Thanks very much!
    Ross
BTW, we are running ISE ver 1.1.2 in case it is relevant.

Yes, you can do it. You have to use the pipe "|" to separate the groups. But please notice you must create the network device groups in advance.
For example, I have the following groups in my csv file to import a lot of network devices
    Device Type#All Device Types#SWITCHES#375O-X|Location#All Locations#PERU#LIMA
But as a pre-requisite I have to create the network device groups.
If you have lots of network device groups, you can mass import them instead of creating them one by one.
    Please rate if it helps

  • Network device disappeared

    Hi!
I was adding some network devices to SCOM 2012 R2. One of my network devices appeared as a pending device. Reason: No Response SNMP.
After I added my scom management server to the accepted list on the server I wanted to monitor under the SNMP service it just disappeared from my SCOM management console. I cant find it under pending or Network Devices now.
If I try to run a discover again I cant find the device again, even if I remove the scom management server from the accepted list on the SNMP service. The only way to find the device again is to discover it only using ICMP.

    Hi,
Please check the event log of the Management Server where you assigned discovery to run. If discovery was a success, you will see your network device show up in the Admin console, under Network devices.

  • Agent is up but targets are showing

    Hi
My agent is up and running. But target databases are showing Current Status Agent Unreachable
Agent Unreachable Since Nov 26, 2008 9:51:51 PM
I don't want to remove the targets and re add them back here. This will affect our
regular monthly database availability reports which we take. As scheduled
standard exports and other jobs are on hanging situation in Grid.
In the Grid what could be the reason it is showing on
databases status pending since Nov 26 2008. I have done more than 3 times agent clean restart. Agent is coming up but databases are showing not available. I configured using dbsnmp password in the Grid. Physically databases and listener is up and running.

    Hey Raffiecat,
Thanks for the question. If your iPod is setup to manually manage content, you can add content from multiple libraries:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod

When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad.
You can also learn which content you can import to your new computer from your iPod:

  • Remove network device inventory from SCOM database

    Hello Gurus
I have a quick question. I think one of the internal connectors in my SCOM environment has got deleted by mistake. As a result all the network devices that were being monitored previously has now disappeared. I believe because they were present in the database,
I can't discover them now. Is it possible somehow to list those network devices from the database, and then delete them, by using powershell and/or SQL.
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,

    You can delete them by:
In the Discovery Rules option under the Administration Tab, you will be able to see all the network devices that are discovered. This shows the devices that are discovered and currently getting monitored in SCOM. You can select multiple devices and then
    remove them.
Then Run in powershell Get-RemotelyManagedDevice to check that all Network devices deleted.
you can also check below link to remove/restore network device

  • Same network device gets discovered multiple times in scom

    Hi All,
In SCOM 2012 , Same network device gets discovered multiple times.
For example, if we have an ip address 10.91.180.43 added to Network discovery rule.
When Discovery is run few times.
its gets discovered multiple times and shows 3 or 4 times under Network Devices.
Please help me to fix this issue.
    Thank you
    Siva

    Hi dktoa,
Thank you for the quick reply. i would like to explain my issue in clear.
For example, if we have an ip address 10.91.180.43 added to Network discovery rule.
When Discovery is run few times. its gets discovered multiple times and shows 3 or 4 times under Network Devices. And it gets listed multiple times with same ipaddress not with different ip.
    it will look like this
    10.91.180.43
    10.91.180.43
    10.91.180.43
----  I read both articles, they are were interesting.
Do you mean to say that my issue will get fixed , if i change the AccessAddressFormat = "AUTOADDRESS" as
    AccessAddressFormat = "LOOPBACKADDRESS"
Please guide me if i am wrong.
    Thank you once again.
    Regards
    Siva

  • SCOM Network Device Alerts

    Hi,
In our environment we are using SCOM 2012 to monitor Servers and network Devices.we discovered network devices but the display name of the device is looking like 134.sub-91-245-149.ymzvw.com  and the same is displayed in alerts so it is very difficult
to trace out the name and location of the device. But and in the property of the device it shows location and primary owner name of the device it will be helpful if i change the display name to its location name.
Is there any way to change the display name of the device to its location name.
Is there any way to modify the alerts so that it will be easy to figure out the location and name of the device.
    Thanks in advance
    Thanks Siva Aadhi-CIT. MCITP

I have resolved part of my issue. Display name and full path name
is now same as MIB2 System Name. Apparently Display name and
Full path name is  pulled from DNS. So i was about to resolve part of
my issue with just deleting the device from SCOM. creating DNS A record
and re-discovering the device. but still when it comes to alert.. it shows
MAC address as part of Path instead of display name or MIB2 Displayname.

  • I need help setting up my Apple wireless network so that there are no conflicts with IP addresses for any of my devices.

I have 2 Airport Extreme Base Stations, 1 is a 5th generation 802.11n and 1 is a 2nd generation 802.11n.  I have 2 Extreme Express Base Stations which are 2nd generation 802.11a/n.  The idea is to create a network that works throughout my 2 story house and extend into the garage.  It's not a large house 1400 sq ft wood construction.  The internet feed comes into the Hughes Net modem upstairs.  This is where I want the main base station (5th generation). I eventually will connect a network drive and printer to it.  I then want to place the second base station in the room directly under the upstairs room where the main base station is and connect my desk top computer to it.  In the living room I will have one of the Express Base Stations connected to the Micro Cell and house stereo system.  In the garage (50' away from the living room Express Station & 75' from the Main Base Station) I will place the other Extreme Express Base Station to be connected to the garage stereo system.  All of this is with the idea to extend the range of my network for all my devices and airplay to my stereo systems.
Ok, so I have a lot of wireless devices. 2 2nd geneartion iPads, 2 iPhone 4s's, 3 Wi-Fi enabled Sony TVs, Apple TV (near the house stereo Extreme Express), AT&T Micro Cell connected to house stereo Extreme Express, Lorex Security DVR system (connected to main base station upstairs), Whole-House DTV Network system,1 Macintosh Quicksilver Desktop computer, 1 MacBook Pro, and 1 Mac AirBook.  As you can see I need a lot of DHCP IP addresses.
So, how do I go about setting this all up?  I have read countless articles and discussions but I still have conflicts.  It usually mostly, but not limited to, effects my wife's AirBook.  Not good at all!  I used to have a WDS setup but I understand that the 802.11n Airport Extreme's do not support this.  And when I try to distribute a range of IP addresses I run into problems.  So can someone please help me resolve this headache?

Configure the Extreme connected to the Hughes Net modem as your router. In other words in AirPort Utility, Network tab > Router Mode should be set to "DHCP and NAT". It will provide IP addresses to all the devices on your network.
All other AirPort devices on your network should be configured as bridges: Router Mode "Off".
You may want to configure static IP addresses for any equipment that is likely to be permanently installed. For them, there is no reason to have the Extreme issue an IP address, and they can keep the same one forever.
The Microcell may be able to connect to the Express's LAN port such devices that have to handle voice or other real time audio or video streaming are generally best installed using a strictly wired connection. The same applies to the Sony TV and AppleTV. Keep them on a wired LAN served by the Extreme, avoiding any reliance on a wireless link if at all possible.
The way to implement a complex network like yours is to add one device at a time. Ensure it connects reliably, then add another. You have a lot of work to do.
WDS can be implemented even with new Extremes but its performance is likely to be so unacceptable that it would be nothing more than an exercise in frustration for you.

  • SCOM 2012R2 Network Vicinity View doesn't show agent managed PCs

    Hello,
Network Vicinity View in my SCOM only shows other network devices+management server, but does not show any agent managed computers, why is that? Or is it supposed to be like that and i'm missing something here?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Things to try in the vicinity view:
Select a node or connection to view details for that node or connection in the
    Details view.
Change the levels of connection to be displayed in the diagram by selecting a new value for
    Hops in the toolbar.
To include agent computers in the view in addition to network devices, select the
    Show Computers check box.
Select a node in the vicinity view. In the Tasks pane, click the option to launch the Network Node dashboard.
To change the central device of the view, select a device, and then click
    Vicinity View.

  • SCOM Monitoring Multiple interface of a same network device

    hi
I have deployed SCOM 2012 R2. I have discovered around 200 network device by using device's loopback IP adress with SNMP v3.
100 dvices are in the branch offices those are connected with 3 links in three interfaces respectively. Even if two link is down, i can see that my network device is healthy since network device is discovered with the loopback address. How can i configure
my network monitoring so that even if one link goes down i can see some kind of warning or error in the particular network device in my monitoring pane. Please say if my infrastructure is unclear.

    Hi,
You can create built-in network ICMP only network monitoring for the three interfaces respectively.
