Low speed download

I bought a macbook pro retina 13 few weeks back, every thing was ok till I realise the very bad speed download.
I have an 8 Mb speed internet connection and I'm usually using wifi, with my old PC win 7 I'm reaching easly 1 Mb/s of speed download.
with my new macbook pro I'm surprised to have juste 300 kb/s and dropping till reaching 60 to 70 kb/s.
this problem was reported by several personnes, and as I understand the problem is with mountain lion version, and no real solution is available to fix it.
and the solution remain with apple, then any plan to fix it? any update scheduled?
spending 1700 USD for a laptope to continue using my old win7 PC for downloading???

oldink76,
if your MacBook Pro’s connection to your router is over wi-fi rather than over wired Ethernet, then it’s not surprising that elevating its antenna (which is behind the display) could help. Enjoy the speed!

  • Low speed downloading when uses URL class.

    In normal downloading(such as "right click -> save as" in ie), my connection speed can reach up to 1.8MBytes/s, but when I use URL to download a file, the speed is obviously lower than the normal one, each read procedure gets 4KBytes ~ 5KBytes
    pseudo code here:
    URL url = new URL("...");
    URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
    conn.connect();
    BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(conn.getInputStream(), 1024*1024);
    while ((len = bis.read(buf, 0, buf.length)) > 0) {
    System.out.println(len);
    }

    sorry for my mistake.

  • Low-Speed download from iTunes in UK

    Hey all,
    recently, i have seen a dramatic fall in the download speed from iTunes.
    I have a 10/2mb line, which runs absolutely fine for everything else.
    Currently, i am downloading an App on 68mb, which currently says it will take 42 mins to download.
    In my calculations, it should only take about 5 minutes as max?

    hello?
    I really want to know! Thanks!

  • Firefox used to download with Speed download along with other browsers, but since updating to version 6.0.2 it no longer does so; OS Z 10.6.8 and Speed Download v 5.2.28; what do I need to adjust and how, to get it working 'in the team' again, please?

    I have had problems with Safari and OS 10.6.8 (I think caused by Apple getting ready for Lion!) but after a lot of uninstalling etc I now have Safari, Camino and Chrome (all most recent versions) automatically sending downloads to Speed Download.
    Speed Download Plugin v 2.1.5 is installed; I do not know what or where to adjust or reset to get Firefox letting its downloads be picked up automatically once again like the other three browsers.

    Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
    And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
    The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
    Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
    (You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
    I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
    Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-)

  • High speed and Low Speed CAN

    Hi
    This is my first time to use CAN.
    I have LabVIEW  2010 and  LabVIEW FPGA
    I have NI 3110 Dual-Core Industrial Controller with Windows OS, NI 9157, NI 9852 CAN Low Speed Module and NI 9853 CAN High Speed Module to be used to monitor the CAN messages from an ECU unit.
    The connection is done as the following:
    ·         The High speed CAN is connected to the NI-CAN 9853 (Port 0)
    ·         The low speed CAN is connected to the NI-CAN 9852 (Port 0)
    ·         The baud rate of the 9853 is 500kbps
    ·         The baud rate of the 9852 is 50kbps
    ·         Both modules are set to “Listen Only”
    ·         “Module Clock” in both modules is set to 20MHz
    ·         CAN networks are 29-bit and 11-bit.
    My consideration is to read all the messages from both modules without losing any message. Below is a picture from the block diagram on the FPGA target, is this the best way to read CAN messages from both modules? Also, could you please suggest what is the best way to read the messages on Host vi?
    Unfortunately, I do not have the module right now to do some test, so that I cannot get the iteration time (“CAN Low Speed Loop” and “CAN High Speed Loop” show in the picture below), could you please tell how to calculate the iteration time needed for each loop depending on the above information.

    The way that you have proposed to use the CAN module to monitor the BUS is a bad idea.  We have a prebuilt driver that will do most of this work for you.  You will need to download and install the NI-CAN 2.7.3 and then you will be able to use the example finder.  In the example finder look for.
    The example finder is accessed through the Help menu.

  • Low speed

    Have very low speed - 0.225 mbs, download. On signing up I was told I will be receiving minimum of 8mbs, average of 15mbs and a maximum of 19mbs. Besides being passed from pillar to post as no-one understands why the broadband is so low I have just been informed that the maximum I can get is now 10mbs - quite a big difference? I have also been told I will be charged to have the phone line looked at even though it was only installed by BT two months previously so I will be paying twice. Is this right? I have been lied to, called a liar, transferred to every department within BT. Each member of staff has told me they can't help that I need to be transferred to a different department so after five hours on the phone I am still at square one! This has been going on for two months. Oh I was also told I would receive compensation for not receiving a service but apparently I'm suddenly not eligible for this. I can get faster broadband (more than 10mbs) for cheaper elsewhere. BT have broken the contract by not supplying me with the service that they promised. BT staff don't seem to know much as they can't even agree on the rate of broadband I should be receiving. This is not to mention how rude they have all been towards me. I am thankful that everything is recorded as this proves that I am not at fault and there are obviously training issues that need to be addressed within all departments in the company. Has anyone else had the same experience? Can any moderators respond?

    Hello, thanks for your response.
    I can assure you that i have tried absolutely everything including replacement router, filters etc.
    The line was only installed on the 14th April, and BT only guarantee their work for a month! I paid £130 to have a line installed...
    They have admitted there is a fault in the line, but even after 6 hours of diagnostic tests still cant find the problem. These tests werent all carried out today but over the past 2 months yet they still didn't send another engineer round to check the line had been installed correctly. I was only offered this option once the "28 day" warranty on the line had expired hence I was expected to pay for it. If this information is incorrect, i have been lied to by the Technical team at BT once again.
    The end result after approx 6 hours on the phone today was that i demanded a full refund for the past 2 months of broadband that i was paying for but not receiving, which was granted after a struggle, and a cancellation of the contract due to BT breaching the contract on at least 2 counts. The first being that i was lied to by the initial sales advisor about the speed of the internet connection i was to expect and BT could not honour this and the second due to paying for a service that i was not receiving. I still have not resolved the problem with the line itself which needs to be looked at by BT regardless of which isp i decide to go with now.
    I think BT really need to look into the staff they have on the end of the phone as they have been nothing but helpless and i can imagine that they have lost BT 1000's of customers due to their lack of knowledge or training.

  • Low Speed Internet - on iMac Only

    Hi,
    I have an early 2008 iMac running 10.9.5.
    Recently the WiFi on it has been running painfully slow, compared to the other devices in my home.  I thought it was due to the location in my home but it doesn't appear so as I've compared it to a Macbook.
    The iMac's speed test results in download speeds between:  1.2 and 5.6 mps.
    The Macbook's speed test results, when right next to the iMac:  25 mps.
    Around where my airport is (downstairs), speeds on the Macbook are 50+ mps, which is what I am paying for.   (The iMac is upstairs.)
    Is there a way to fix this so the iMac runs at the ~25 mps like the Macbook does?  Is this a general problem with Mavericks, which I've read from others?
    One solution I tried which did not work is:  Go To> /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration > Delete the files, reconnect and get a fresh reconfigure.  This did not solve the problem.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    On the iMac (machine getting the low speeds)
    PHY Mode: 802.11n
    Channel:   1 (2.4 ghz)
    Security: WPA2 Personal
    Signal/Noise or RSSI:  -81
    Transmit Rate: 39
    On the Macbook Pro 10.9.5 (machine getting high speeds)
    PHY Mode: 802.11n
    Channel:   1 (2.4 ghz)
    Security: WPA2 Personal
    Signal/Noise or RSSI:  -75
    Transmit Rate: 156
    Hmmm, so clearly the Macbook Pro has a much higher transmit rate.  Is that fixable?

  • In Firefox can not see the Downloads window, in the jump in the boot to be seen - the download speed Downloaded much and now can not see how to fix it?

    in Firefox can not see the Downloads window, in the jump in the boot to be seen - the download speed
    Downloaded much and now can not see how to fix it?

    I hate the new downloads-in-a-tab scheme. This was an unnecessary change in my book (if it aint broke, don't "fix it").
    So in order to get it back, I performed the about:config browser.download.useToolkitUI change, but now all I get is a blank download window that pops up every time I download something.
    Is there something else that I need to do? I've checked the change and it was saved, but it didn't resolve my issue as much as it just caused me a new issue.

  • When home sharing songs are transferring at an extremely low speed. why is this happening??

    Hi
    I shared my library with my Husband's library using the same apple id. I then tried to copy songs from that library to mine. But the songs are transferring at a ridiculously low speed. When he copied the songs from my library it did not take as much time. Can you please tell me why this is happening?? Is this a problem with the itunes??

    Hi systemBuilder, you are not alone in your frustration. The problem is the plugin model: plugins are allowed to do much more than they can be trusted to do intelligently. Without a change to that, Firefox cannot stop the Flash player from changing window focus.

  • I Can't Burn a CD any more! and a lower speed does nothing - HELP!

    I have been burning CDs on this machine (imac 10.3.9) the same way for years and years. (7)
    Up till last month.
    This is what I get when I burn a playlist.
    "itunes can not burn this cd because your burn speed is too fast for you cd burner or media. Choose a lower speed in the burning pane then try burning again."
    I've tried that - even though that seems silly considering I've had no problems at my current settings until now. The lowest burn speed (1) gives me the same error.
    I'm hating life and my mac right now, something I though I'd never say.
    Anyone?

    If you don't have Nero, check out http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9229334#9229334. I think some people have found a way to get just the Burn Rights program.
    If that doesn't work, some people seem to have luck with editing the registry or messing with filters or gear drivers. Check out this discussion starting with Tytus (he came up with the Nero fix) on March 22:

  • Low speed connection, but still have input history.

    Hi there,
    We have done some tests in our business to see the performance difference between "low speed connection" being enabled and disabled for a system, both from a network perspective, and from a performance perspective on Citrix servers.
    We have determined that the 'input history' feature doesn't cause much performance impact, but a lot of the other 'high-speed' features like images and tool tips do.
    We would like to be able to have "low speed connection" for our system, but still enable 'input history'. Is there any way this can be achieved, such as through INI or registry changes?
    Thanks,
    Michael.

    I raised a message with SAP, and they responded saying that this is not possible

  • Incredibly low speeds, ongoing for numerous years.

    Have had countless problems with BT from line being installed a month late to being put on wrong exchange and at my previous address where speed was also the issue had around 10 engineers over a 4 year period.
    The issue after a house move in August is exactly the same. The speed, I see most people complaining onother threads about what i would consider an amazing DL speed (2MB), our actual DL speed is around 40-100KBPS, and speed tests run at around 0.4MB, with 3 avid gamers in the house and numerous downloads a day going on. I thought posting on here may help as get some progress on line speed increase as surely this is not the maximum attainable by any BROADBAND connection, dial-up speeds were advertised higher than the connection we are getting at the moment, now i know most will say move closer to an exchange or something unhelpful but looking for any sort of help i can gear, here are stats from home hub:

  • Speed Download 4.1.12 interfering with Safari 3 Public Beta

    I recently tried speed download 4.1.12, and it worked fine for the duration of the 21 day trial. After the trial, I decided not to purchase it and since it came up every time i tried to download something, I deleted the speed download application. Now that it is deleted, I cannot seem to download anything using safari. For example, when i tried to download TheFilter from the apple site, Safari just quit and the download did not occur. Similarly, I cannot seem to download anything by clicking on links on sites. I was wondering what I can do to restore safari to its normal pre speed download condition.

    I think Safari Beta has an uninstall feature, while not certain, I read that it reenables Safari 2.
    You don't have Firefox or IE as a backup eh?
    As a precaution, you might do AppleJack first... if you can get it...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
    After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
    Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
    At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
