LR 2.6 - woo-hoo!

A woo-hoo because the problem I've always had with scrollwheeling (is that a word?) corrupting the scrollbars and not scrolling when all the panels are expanded (and currently also present in the LR-3 beta) has apparently been fixed! At least it has evaded my various attempts to bring it on so far.
Thank you!

Hi Geoff - actually no, I've just adjusted to it thinking maybe it's a video driver thing and mainly just annoying sometimes and God knows there's enough work already. I do have the bug report link right under the Lightroom link, but thanks anyway .
BTW, I was in NZ (South Island) back in 03 - what a gorgeous country!

  • Apple store gave me a new iPhone, woo-hoo!

My old iPhone (a 51 week old 3GS model) had a problem with overheating....so the Apple store gave me a new iPhone, woo-hoo! However, I'm not sure if this is a new model or a reconditioned phone. How long can I expect it to last? It has a 90 day warranty.

    I just got a replacement 3gs too.
It's running much better than my original.
The replacement is running 3.1.3 and I will NOT upgrade to iOS4..which is what trashed my original 48 week old 3gs.
Really appreciate that year warranty when they have so many bad OS updates.
My Apple Store made me jump thru a few hoops before replacing it, but it was all worth it to get a 3GS that works right and is MUCH faster than the original.

  • D200 Support in 10.4.6! Woo-Hoo!

We can load D200 NEFs now! Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.

    Hello Tyson.
For me it was a question of cost and reach.
I mainly do wildlife, so I like having the 1.6x crop factor so my 400mm becomes 680. I think this would be very important for surfing as well. However I bet you would find an extremely fast AF and the weather sealing of the 1D Mark II N very nice for sports. I would of loved to get one, but I could not justify the ~$3500. So i just upgaded my 10D and I love it so far.

  • 7d Mark II with a 1.4x teleconverter -- WOO HOO!!!!

So, just a couple of weeks ago, I found myself in an interesting position -- let me explain.
I had a 60D that I had loved for the past 3 years.  But......I have a 100-400 f4-5.6L that I also love.  BUT, I also have a 1.4x teleconverter that I occassionally like to add to the 100-400, for extra reach.  BUT, when I bolt it on, I loose autofocus -- **bleep**!  I do mostly wildlife photography, especially birds, and autofocus makes my life much easier.  I've done my homework, and I understand (as a physicist) what the limitations are, but it is a HUGE thorn in my side.
So, back to my "interesting position" -- my best friend/cousin had a Rebel that he had been doing great work with, since he discovered photography about two years ago.  He was ready to upgreade, and I was in a position to upgrade, even thought I didn't need to (at least, I didn't THINK I needed to).  So, as a (self-serving) action, I decided I would upgrade, and sell my cousin my 60D for a bargain.  I did my research, and decided that my next camera would be a 7d Mark II.  So, we moved on it -- he ended up with a MUCH better camera for a bargain, and I got back onto the "learning curve" that I love so much.
So, to shorten this (already too long) story a bit, I JUST discovered that the 7D Mark II actually permits the 1.4X teleconvertor to actually AUTOFOCUS with the 100-400!!!! Okay, so you have to be in the "center-point" or "center-point + 4 surrounding points" modes, I don't care.  This allows me to do what I need to do, WITH autofocus.
    YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY -- thank you, Canon!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

AF at f8 is becomming VERY popular isn't it.

  • Woo Hoo !! Downgraded Safari to 4.0.5.... ALL of the performance is back !

    Hello All,
I used Pacifist to downgrade from Safari 5.0.3 to 4.0.5.
Wow ! Now I remember what a great web browser my Mac offered !
FAST refreshes, FAST screen paints, NO...and I mean NO Flash issues.
I highly recommend you downgrade your browser from 5.0 to 4.0.
You will immediately see the difference and remember what a fast, efficient browser looks like on your Mac.

I couldn't believe the astonishing and immediate difference.
THIS is the fast MacBook Pro I bought. Safari 5 had me feeling like I was stuck back in IE w/ WinDOS.
    It's a very easy procedure....
    1) Download Safari 4.0.5 from here:
    http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/Safari-Download-25616.html
    2) Download Pacifist from here:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    3) Close safari 5.0
    4) Launch Pacifist
    5) Click the "Open Package' button
    6) Navigate to, and select the Safari 4.0.5 package you downloaded
    7) From the Pacifist window you will be navigated to, select the top level of the package in the"Package Contents" box
    8) Click "Install" in the upper left of the window.
    9) When prompted, Select "Use Administrator Privileges"
    10) When prompted select "Replace" and check the "do not ask me again" box.
    Done !
Enjoy having your fast browser back !

  • Installed a new logic board, Woo Hoo!-Except...

except that the computer won't turn on. I pressed the power button and the light didn't stay on and the screen never came on.
I seem to recall hearing about this happening after logic board replacement but don't recall what the solution/remedy was.
Otherwise, the replacement was pretty easy as Japamac had said, so thanks for the help!

Well, to be sure, better test the power supply.
My post here provides the description:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11687012&#11687012
Testing needs to be done with the PSU connector connected to the logic board.
Jamb the tester probes in the back side of the connector, along side the wire, to get the probe down to the pin for proper contact.
Oh, make sure the PRAM battery is installed properly (plus and minus properly oriented).

  • Trend Reporting!  Woo hoo!

    Thanks Apple
    Hope everyone is rich, now.

Will I lose the songs on my iPod when I plug it into my new Mac?
I don't have an MBP yet, and I don't have the latest version of iTunes, but I'm assuming that the answer to this question is the same as for anytime you hook up your iPod to iTunes.
(Please forgive me if I cover material you already know; I find it easier to assume nothing.)
The best way to ensure that you don't wipe your iPod is always -- always! -- manually manage your songs and playlists.
To do this, you need to open your iPod options and click the "Manually manage songs and playlists" button (at least, that's what it is in iTunes 4.6). This will prevent the iPod from synching with your base library (on the computer). You can still add songs to your iPod: you just need to manually drag them in either from your base library (as visible in iTunes) or from a folder elsewhere on your computer. You can also delete songs on your iPod in the same way that you would delete them from the base library.
The problem, though (and again, I'm talking v4.6; I'm not certain about later versions), is that the default setting on your iPod is for it to automatically sync with the base library, which will wipe your iPod and replace it with your base library (which will probably be empty, given that you're moving to a new computer). And you can only change that setting once you've hooked up your iPod to your computer and opened iTunes.
What you need to do, then, is hook up your iPod and let it open iTunes. As soon as iTunes registers the iPod, it will try to sync the libraries. Immediately press "apple key" + ".", or mouse click on the "x" showing in the window at the top of the application. That will stop the syncing before any damage has been done. Then you can open your iPod preferences and change to manual management of songs.
BTW, if anyone knows of an easier, safer way to prevent iTunes from wiping their iPod, please let me know

  • New Air - woo hoo!

I have the new Air up and running, transferred files via Airport because I couldn't find the Ethernet adapter in stock - most excellent.
Now - prior computers had support for almost every language on the planet installed but we only speak one here in my house. Do I need to purge all that with Delocalizer, or something similar?
And how about bloat/demoware? - I didn't see an Office Demo like the last MacBook...did I miss it? Is there other junk I should purge?
How much disk should the Apple standard stuff take? Looks like about 40GB?
    Thanks,
    Michael

Congrats on your new Air. Search these discussions for "XSlimmer" and "clean install" and you should get some good info to get you started.

  • WOO HOO it works

I finally was able to get the JNI example that is shown in the Java tutorial. I kept getting the dreaded UnStatisfiedLink exception. I removed the class from my package, and voilla. Now to figure out the naming issues when your class is in a package or JAR....

class from my package, and voilla. Now to figure out
the naming issues when your class is in a package or
    JAR....
To use with a package, use this:
    javah -jni packageName.ClassName
and do this at the package level, meaning at the directory where the package directory is sitting. You will see that the header files now have the format:
    packageName_ClassName.h
and the native methods have the format:
    JNICALL Java_packageName_ClassName_methodName
    Hope this helps.

  • Woo Hoo! FREE MONEY!

$100..thanks, Apple. As an intelligent consumer who had no expectation that a company should refund me money for a purchase I willingly agreed to a few months ago, I am extremely happy to get $100 from Apple.
Leopard, here I come. Or maybe a new Nano? Or maybe a second iPhone for net $299? Awesome.

Hmm cashbook and Buddi don't seem to offer what i want (or maybe i just couldn't figure it out?)
I tried to download EZ Money but it came up with a 404 error.
And no, my imac doesn't come with quicken.
I'm just looking for a really simple program that will let me put i my daily transactions.
Say the first one is Starting Amount and I have $100, then the next transaction i'll put 20 in the withdrawal column and then it will calculate what i have left. then in the next transaction i might deposit or withdraw and it will recalculate. I hope that all made sense and wasn't to confusing.
I don't need it for a budget or anything just to keep track of my transactions so i can easily open the program and see what i have left.
    Thanks for your replies though!

Ordered my MBP 2.0/7200-100/1gb on the 13th, just got the email, it shipped today, should be here in the middle of next week or so. Very nice, original estimates were april 3 for shipping.

Let us know how it sounds when you get it. Calibrate your battery, seems I may have received somone elses battery when it went in for repair and I was experiencing random re-boots and a bad whine associated with screen brightness. Now it seems to be pretty quiet and stable.
Conclusion: Battery should be calibrated immediately to prevent issues. I did calibrate mine upon reciept but had a very bad whine. Logic board replaced in a 4 day turn around. When I was recharging the battery from zero to full is when it was shutting down. Maybe charging and running CPU intensive tasks causes to much draw on the power supply and casues MBP to over heat and shut down. Just an observation. VERY noticable change! Runs much cooler too, still hot on the belly side maybe due to the dual core processors need for juice.
Whine is now not so irritating. A clean install helped alot with my AirPort issues as well. Had to re-install all programs manually rather than use the Migration Mode via Firewire Disk Mode. I did see my Keychain was pretty messed up via Firewire Disk Mode and using Migration Assistant to transfer files and applications.
    Feedback please.

  • Security update fixed my last remaining problems!! Woo hoo!!

I ran the security update and now mysteriously all of my remaining issues I've had since updating to 10.4.9 went away. Great news indeed, just wondering if apple puts some system updates in with the security updates?
Here were the problems I was having still after massive amounts of troubleshooting after the 10.4.9 update. But hey, they are gone now!!!
    • System freezing up several times a day
    • Ichat continually loosing its connection
    • certain apps crashing
I'm looking forward to 10.5, I know apple pushed it back, do they have a release date yet? Any word on Ilife 07 or are they skipping that one?

    10.5 - October. Don't know about iLife 07.

  • BOO HOO!!! Now really stuck... SONY DSR1500p... HELP NEEDED

    Hello there...
From a couple of posts i put up today i explained i have a problem with connectivity to our deck... i trashed the QT receipts (605, 701, 702) and got connection back again... but we still have a problem... i still can't insert edit to tape... When i try, i get a message (from the deck) saying - 'Input video signal does not synchronize with REF. VIDEO signal' ... In the deck manual, as a solution to this message it says -'Use a reference video signal' , but i can't get a signal out TO the deck??!!! I can capture media ok... and assembly edit to tape ok.... it's just insert edit that i'm having the problem with... it just won't do it... Does anybody out there use a SONY DSR1500p deck, who might be able to go through the settings with me?
We urgenty need the insert edit sorted out.
    Cheers.

    WOO HOO!! All sorted now!
The problem seemed to stem from a combination of FCP 5 undate and QT receipts, which we trashed etc...
After updating to FCP 5, when the update came out (5.0.2) we couldn't download it for some strange reason... so we ignored it...
We carried on struggling with the Insert edit problem but to no success... more stress, more confusion, less hair...
We then decided to try downloading the 5.0.2 update again...we tried a few times, eventually speaking to apple tech help and being told that some people have a problem with this download and we'd have to create a New User, and download it to that users Apps folder etc etc... We didn't do that... if it was a recognition problem, you can simply delete the 'HD' off the FCP application name, so it just appears as Final Cut Pro...
We then tried downloading 5.0.2 and it went in first time...
After re-booting and going to FCP 5.0.2 our insert edit problem was solved! The connection between G5 and SONY DRS1500AP seems to be as solid as it ever has been...
Note to shane: it appears that you DON't need to invest in a black-burst box.
A LESSON LEARNED... No matter how much hassle it takes to download... the updates are there for a reason!!!
    All the best.

  • File wont read,  and I'm ready to tear my hair out!!!

    Good Morning
I wrote a short program to read a .txt file and assign values into an array. My program works, woo hoo (or so I thought...)
But when I took the same code, and pasted into a function of a larger program, the file doesnt get read! In my larger program, I need the function to return the value of the array so I can use the array elsewhere. II originally thought the file didn't read because the .txt file and program were not stored in the same folder, which is not the case. So now I am wondering if I needed to pass a value to the function, or to call the function from inside the larger file, or basically what the heck I am missing! I am just not seeing it and am totally lost and dreaming of this, when I sleep of course!
Code that works on its own -
    import java.io.*;
    import java.io.FileReader;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class readInput {
       public static void main(String args[])throws FileNotFoundException, IOException  {

  • USDA direct- my process-CLEAR TO CLOSE!

There is quite a bit of info out there on various mortgage processes but very little to be found by googling USDA direct. I figured I would share my experience so others might have some more info going into this process. I started rebuilding (in honesty building) my credit last may (2014). Took out a share secured loan thru my very local credit union to pay off some old baddies on my report. Got everything paid, and all but 1 negative off my report in a few months. (Lots and lots of phone calls, GW letters and a bit of luck (thanks for cramming all those bills T-mobile)).In December I submitted a pre application to my local USDA office. Got a phone call back a week later. She actually transferred me to another office in the next county (Thank youfor that.) I called the lady who was listed as the coordinator for that office on 1-7-2015. We chatted for perhaps 15 minutes, she explained the program very thouroughly, answered a few of my questions and asked very nicely if I would like her to send out the full application. She inquired about my credit, I gave her a basic rundown, relatively new, clean EQ (last collection never got to that report 1 very old paid negative on TU and EX.) She said that should be fine, might require a letter of explanation.Recieved full app on 1-9 (wow, thats flying for government work right?). Began filling out the app. Had a couple questions, so I emailed her, to ask. Response within 30 minutes. Finished application, printed out 4k pages of financial documents (OK very SLIGHT exaggeration). On a whim, decided to call TU to see if my 7 yr old collection could be early excluded before I sent in my app.TU early excluded. WOW nice. EX I spoke to a very nice lady who told me it wasnt possible to do until February. OK, I figured I will wait to submit my app for a couple weeks.Fast forward to 2-2-15, (of course 2-1 had to be a Sunday, so had to wait to call EX.) Spoke to the same very nice lady (wow dumb luck there). She granted the early exclusion. Told me it might take 24-48 hours to update. I printed out updates to bank statements that had changed to make an addendum to my application. Created a spreadsheet for my net worth to add to my app as the numbers had changed. Midway thru completing that I got an email from EX saying they had updated my file. Log on, print out (wow shiny) clean EX credit report.Stuff a novel's worth of paperwork in an envelope and mail to the USDA on 2-3-15. 2-23-15, get a ping on capital one credit tracker of a new inquiry. CBB Innovis. Shortly thereafter CK sends me an email, new inq TU and EQ. CBB Innovis. 2-26-15 my fico inquiry only on EX and EQ (still no inq on TU on my fico as of 3-17 lol). Go into work on 2-26-15 and find out they called to verify my employment.nothing happens for a week, so being me (impatient and curious to put it nicely) I send Amy an email. Simply asked if there was anything else she needed from me. 20 minutes later I get an email, my file is on her desk for review, hopefully next couple days.3-15 I send an email to her to update info (secured loan will be paid off as of 4-1-2015 13 months earlier than the term just wanted to let her know in case that changes anything) 3-16-15, first thing in the morning she emails me back says fantastic as that helps with DTI, will give you some flexibility on amount of loan, please call me. I work nights so first thing in the morning is the crack of noon. I call her, she asks when can I come in for my homebuyers meeting. She suggests Friday 3-20-15 or the following week. Well Friday 3-20 is march madness. and while buying a home > just about everything, march madness for me is one of the rare times all of my very old friends get together for 4 days of pretending we aren't middle aged. I say Monday, Thursday or Friday of the following week would be perfect. Meeting set for Monday 3-23-15.Will update as things progress. Honestly the only real advice I would give someone going into the process is follow up when you know things have happened. Patience may be a virtue, but advocate for yourself, do it nicely but don't let yourself get tossed onto a back burner. My coordinator has been friendly and knowledgeable every step of the way, but it has been more of I send an email or make a call and we move the next step. Simply sending a polite email asking if anything else is needed can move you along. The other thing I would advise, send anything they could possibly want. She thanked me for the completeness of my financial documents when I sent them in. I sent 3 months of paystubs rather than 2 pay periods, an explanation on 1 of my bank accounts (only had 1 statement as they are quarterly) and a current register print out. If you think they might need it, just send it. Pro tip: your 6th grade report card is not neccessary. As I said I will add to this as it moves along. Thanks for reading,PF update.... had my orientation meeting 3/23/15She went over the program, no big suprises. She told me what my pre qualification amount would be. (It varies depending on the overall monthly payment, selling price is not the main focus here (northern illinois) as property taxes can vary wildly). Basically i can go up to a payment of around 700 dollars a month (which she was fairly negotiable on because of mitigating factors (MY HIGH CREDIT SCORE (Hehehe) and having relatively high cash reserves.) I was told i should have my Certificate of Eligibility in my hands by 3-30-15. She emailed me on Friday 3-27 to tell me it was on its way.I responded with an email containing several properties to confirm they were in rural areas (we have some strange islands of non eligible areas). Response within a half hour confirming all homes met the criteria. Met with a couple realtors during the week, found one with usda experience that i liked, start the looking for real process on 4-01-15.Will continue to update as I move along.oh, i will qualify for subsidy, but probably won't use it. My payment will put me right where I wanted to be anyway.Update 3-31-15 certificate of Eligibility in my hands. Talked with a few realtors, 2 which had USDA experience, 1 who didnt. Didnt like the two who did, so rolling the dice with the other one. Went and looked at several houses that fit my budget and needs. Have a handful more to look at next week. The one i like best is 6 sq ft over size restrictions, but well under budget, coordinator says a waiver should be no problem as my payments will be low enough to allow higher utilities. And I told her i would turn off the heat in the bathroom Did some more looking, found a great house in almost the exact neighborhood I would have chosen, impressive considering my search comprised of 6 whole counties and parts of 3 more. Saw the house on thurs 4-30-2015. Made an official offer today, Sunday 5-3-2015. My agent has been fantastic, and my USDA coordinator every bit as good. They have seemed to kind of start working together, almost seamlessly. It is my agents first USDA loan, so he is learning as he goes, but after being skeptical at first he seems to have embraced it. Hes been in the biz for a long time and is positively mystified he hasnt seen one based on the amount of his areas that the USDA covers. Moving on, I have an email into my coordinator as i need an updated prequal letter. She wrote the prequal based on considerably higher taxes and made me a friendly bet I couldnt find a house with taxes less than 2400/yr. I believe she has lost that bet, my offer has taxes of 1884. With no exemptions. So i need a letter that says i can go a bit higher, based on the lower tax number.5-4-2015 Woke up to a response, letter will be in my and realtors hand first thing tomorrow. Also confirmed that my coordinator is fine with me doing my homebuyers education class in the online form.5-4-2015 pt 2 seller countered my offer up 2k, I accepted. not worth wrangling over nickels. I want the house, he wants to sell, everybody seems to be happy. now on to the annoying stuff and waiting to hurry up I guess.5-5-2015 completed homebuyers ED course. Honestly they should just send people here. This place has taught me way more have a short phone meeting with the lady in charge of that and another box checked off. Call scheduled for 5-7 afternoon.Home inspection and radon test scheduled for 5-7-2015.5-6-2015 Homeowners insurance quotes. Got full replacement coverage lined up, 579 for the year. Far better than expected Also dropped my car insurance by a not insignificant number. Woo hoo. Now on to the inspection and waiting!5-8-2015 Inspection! Cue the darth vader music. Actually my inspector was a good guy, and in another 6 weeks will likely be one of my neighbors (well a few blocks anyway) He took us around the outside first, showed us where there was an addition to the foundation (a screened in porch was made part ofthe house). He was impressed with the job done. Proceed inside,he did a quick walk thru, then we started from the basement up. All of the systems of the house had been redone 20 years ago, house was built in 1900. He looked a bit, and was thouroghly impressed. He said I may have one of the most modern 100 year old houses he has ever seen. Move to main level, appliances work, but are a bit dated. Everything functional and well maintained. A very few very minor things (he said "I am actually nitpicking just to find some things.") Main level bath all good, move to upstairs (just one bath and bed). Toilet is loose in the bath, everything else looks good. We check the attics, clean, well WELL insulated. We finish up, he tells me I will have the report in my hands, and that with a few cosmetics the house could easily be worth 25-40 over what my offer is in at. I tell him to come over for some barbecue in a few weeks. (I have 2 commercial smokers and can do a few things.) He tells my agent and I "Good find guys." Thanks again. Well, that wasn't nearly as scary as I had feared. One breaker is double tapped (an electrician will tell you the reason for 2 taps is to use them ) reccomends a few extra inches of downspouts on 2 of the gutters ("the foundation's rock solid lets kep 'er that way") fix the toilet (DUH) and a bit of backfill at the back of the garage.Up next- Radon test scheduled for5-11-2015 Radon came back slightly elevated. 4.5 microwhatevers.Submitted repair request to seller on 5-13, for the toilet, tuckpointing the chimney, smoke/CO detectors, door closers (whatever the heck those things are called), double tapped breaker, and radon mitigation.5-21-15 Seller agreed to all repairs (phew it wasn't the money but the PITA it would have been to have a supervised bank account for piddly stuff.)Next up,6-4-15 the appraisal!Apparently appraisal was done early, as today 6-3-15 I recieved my Funding commitment letter, and a likely moving up of closing by a week, to 6-22-15!6-16-2015 Seller was not able to be ready early, so my closing is back to the original date of 6-29-2015. Recieved conformation of closing being scheduled today. Also notified that the last 2 items on the repair list have been completed, tuckpointing the chimney and radon mitigation. For anyone curious, mitigation cost 1075 dollars, radon levels initially at 4.5 post mitigation 0.9. Also after getting quotes I agreed to pay for the chimney @ 750 dollars which got me metal flashing rather than tar. Seller absorbed all other repair costs.6-18-15 got clear to buy 1st year HO insurance policy.6-23-15 official CLEAR to CLOSE. Final numbers confirmed. I do qualify for a payment subsidy of around 90 bucks a month, going to find out what deducts from subsidy recapture to decide whether to accept or reject which is done at closing.6-26-15 Recieved HUD1 from the title company, via the lawyers. Everything matches and looks correct. Final walk through Monday morning before closing.6-29-15 Closed. Was a very simple and painless process. the lawyer and agent both said it was the least paperwork they had ever seen. Seller actually left me a bunch of tools (shovels rakes etc.) Was a very cordial process, I think everybody got what they wanted out of the deal. Thanks to all who gave me guidance, prodding and keepingme moving along. If anything in here isn't clear, feel free to PM me any questions (I have fairly detailed notes and almost all of my emails).Good luck to everybody else. Remember be proactive, but with USDA you need to have some patience too.

Pfarro1, you're about 3 weeks ahead of us on the timeline. I was just telling our realtor today that having a government mortgage application should be marketed as being a lesson in self-control & patience. I don't feel like it's time for me to start bothering our USDA rep yet. Maybe I will in another week or 10 days.(?) Here's our timeline so far: Submitted pre-qual via email 1/14/15 -- USDA did a single hard credit pull 1/23/15Invited to apply 1/30/15 -- Submitted application via email 1/31/15 Mailed requested documents via USPS Priority & payment for credit check 2/20/15 (delivered 2/23/15) At least 2 credit inquiries by USDA 3/10/15 -- $32 check to USDA for credit report hit the bank 3/17/15I would not bug them, just a simple email asking if there's anything else they need, like most recent paystub. I'm sure they don't need it, but it puts you back on the coordinators mind. Out of sight out of mind, so this wheel has no problem making a little squeak every once in a while.
