LR in 64bits architecture

Hi,
quick question. Does LR handles 64 bits OS (WinXp in my case) and is there any real improvements?
Or it has only be implemented in 32 bits and uses the 64bits emulator of WinXp to run (resulting in the same performance)?
Thanks !

No 64 bits yet.
We are looking at it, but I can't make any promises.

    Hi,
I need to install windows 8 64bit on a 64bit architecture Tablet(acer iconia w4-820) by removing the preloaded 32bit windows 8.1 or should make it as dual boot. For a project purpose.
I tried booting the tablet from windows 8 64bit DVD for installation but it does't even detect the DVD Drive. when i insert the recovery DVD which came with acer it gets detected.
The windows 8 64bit DVD which am trying to install is volume licensed which we use to install on our laptops. That works fine with Laptops.
Is their any different version of windows 8 do i need to try for installing on Tablet(acer iconia w4-820) or where am i going wrong.
    Thank for your help.

    SM
DISCLAIMER.  I would contact Acer about this to be safe, but if you only have one HD in the tablet you are going to have to do a clean install by formatting the HD.  You cant run 64 bit & 32 bit on the same drive AFAIK.

    Hi All,

When I was searching for a solution I found post related to the same error "http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5217069"
and there I got the solution. from the post send by don_mahantya post 41.
I was facing the same problem as well.
I use Netbeans 6.7.1 on openSUSE 11.1 64-bit and I would get the error whenever I tried to invoke the Java ME emulator.
All I did was edit the emulator script i.e.
    $ vi /opt/netbeans/netbeans-6.7.1/mobility8/WTK2.5.2/bin/emulator
and I added the path to the 32-bit Java directory
    javapathtowtk=/opt/java/jdk1.6.0_14-32bit/bin/
NOTE: Make sure to put 'bin/' at the end
Hope it helps.. works for me The same solution works with my case very well.
    I wonder why can't I use Java 64bit with this WTK ?
Is there a diferent WTK version to use with 64bit? I'm using WTK which comes with NetBeans 6.9.1

I had the exact same problems (MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 + Intellitype 7.0), and it was driving me nuts. But I've found a solution (as laid out on my blog @ http://carlo.zottmann.org/2009/09/11/upgrading-to-snow-leopard/):
Get Ukulele (http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?siteid=nrsi&itemid=ukelele), the Unicode keyboard layout editor. After downloading it, look around the DMG and find these two files: LogitechGerman.keylayout and LogitechGerman.icns. After copying them to the /Library/Keyboard Layouts/, all that's left is opening the Language & Text preference pane and activating the "Logitech German" layout.
At that point, the Intellitype drivers can be uninstalled, but that'll disable most of the keyboard's special function keys (1-5, ★, home/search/email/calculator).
    Hope this helps!

  • 64 bit and 32 bit architecture

    Hello,
I've been trying to understand the principal of MDT 64bit architecture and MDT 32 bit architecture.
The architecture refers to the WIM boot image I'm adding to WDS (Boot image: Add Boot image) or to the MDT? If to MDT in what manner?
The reason I'm asking is that I need to inject a package (Microsoft windows fix:
    kmdf-1.11-Win-6.1-x64.msu)
to my image (according to this site) to fix a problem I'm having. When running the command and trying to
inject the 64bit fix, the command fails, and when doing the same thing, but with the x86 fix, the operations succeed.
So i guess my environment is 32
bit, but I don't understand why for the OS
I capture is 64 bit OS, My WAIK is 64bit.
When performing what the site suggested (link above), I mount the WIM from my capture folder. Should I perform this on the WIM file from the DeploymentShare\Boot folder?
This question link to another issue I'm having, when trying to open the unattend.xml file from within the MDT TS (TS - OS Info - Edit Unattend.xml) I'm getting an error, when looking for a solution on the net I encounter a solution where I need to open the
'Windows System Image manager' from the WAIK installation, add the windows image
i want and make the xml
i want, but then I'm getting an error saying I cannot add 32 bit xml to 64
    bit (or vice versa).
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
I think it doesn’t matter which MDT architecture to use. It does matter the system architecture you are deploying.
According to your description, you are trying to deploy windows 7 x64 version which is captured form another computer. I guess you chose the wrong boot image. In case any
problem occur, use an original windows 7 x64 image. You can find boot.wim in sources folder.
I recommend you use WSIM to create the unattended file, you won’t make any mistake with it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I run a 4-arch binary as 32bits on a 64bit Mac?

I created a 4-arch executable (ppc/intel & 32/64bits). On a 64bit Mac it runs as a 64bit program. On a 32bit Mac it runs as 32bits. I would like to force it to run as 32bits on a 64bit Mac, without stripping out the 64bit architectures. (some seldom-used plugins for the program can only be built 32bits on OSX)
64/32 bit OSX applications have a checkbox in Get info to open in 32bit mode, but CLI executables don't have this option.
    Can this be done?

If you using Leopard, look at the 'arch' command. It has been enhanced to allow you to change the search order for the universal programs. They also talk about using it to set up the specific type through an arch command. I could not find where they are keeping the search order yet and personally have not used 'arch' in this manner.
The man page for Tiger does not mention this functionality. So, I assume that it is not in Tiger. You might get further explanation from my message:

  • 2003 32bit - 2012 64bit path

Hi - I have a windows server 2003 32 physical server that houses an in-house application and is on our corporate domain, and I'd like to attempt doing an upgrade to the current windows server 2012 64bit R2
The physical box most likely has a CPU that won't support 64bit OS, so I'm thinking to virtualize it in vmware and perform the upgrade that way, leaving the physical box safe from upgrade destruction.
    I guess I had 2 questions,
    1) when something becomes virtualized can you change the bit-ness of the OS? I mean, I suppose it would still be 2003 32bit that exists on the VM, but the fact that the VM is housed on an esx server that clearly can handle 64bit architecture am I safe to
assume I can install 64bit OS on the VM? Is this even a viable option?
    2) Can you even do a straight upgrade from 2003 32 bit to 2012 R2 64 bit? This probably should have been the first question.
Thanks in advance - my first post please let me know if this is the wrong place to ask.

Hi - I have a windows server 2003 32 physical server that houses an in-house application and is
on our corporate domain, and I'd like to attempt doing an upgrade to the current windows server 2012 64bit R2
In-place upgrade is not supported from a 32bit OS to a 64bit one.
You will need to install a new server running Windows Server 2012 R2 and then proceed with a migration. Once done, you can decommission your old server.

  • Licensing costs 32bit vs 64bit

    Hi,
we are evaluating the pros and cons of designing a system based on 64bit vs. 32bit processors. Can anyone comment, based on their experience, is there a (substantial) difference in licensing costs for Oracle 10g depending on the processor type? Also, are there any other considerations to be taken into account between both versions of Oracle (Installation, stability of the product, etc)
    Thanks in advance!

    [email protected] wrote:
    Hi,
the basic drawback of 64bits, it is more expensive in general terms (HW and possibly COTS products) than 32bit. We are not sure if the advantages are worth the effort, specially taking into cosideration that many of the applications we need to integrate in the system are COTS products which run on 32 bits. These apps wont be able to take full advantage of the 64bit architecture.
    Thanks
JP.You shouldn't be running the apps on the same box as the db anyway, and a 64-bit db will happily serve 32-bit clients.

  • Why Forms 11g 32bit forms cannot run on 64bit without recompiling?

    Hi gang
Hopefully one of the Forms gurus on this forum can give me a quick and succinct answer to the following question.
We're just setup a Windows XP 32bit install of Forms 11g on our developer machines, and a WLS install of Forms 11g and relating services on Windows 2008 64bit.
Question is, why do Forms compiled on the 32bit architecture not work on the 64bit architecture? Why do they need to be recompiled? I'm aware of the difference between 32bit/64bit OS environments, but what's that got to do with the FMX, PLX (etc) files? What are those files doing internally that's specific to the 32bit/64bit platform?
None the wiser. Your thoughts appreciated.
    CM.

    Hi Chris,
Nice to see you on FORMS forums
i queried myoraclesupport and got few answers hopefully you find them helpful
    Applies to:
    Oracle Forms - Version: 11.1 to 11.1 - Release: 11.1 to 11.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.
    Forms 11g
    Symptoms
    --A form is compiled against a 32-bit platform, Ex(Linux 32-bit)
-- Move the .fmx to a 64-bit Platform, Ex (Linux 64-bit) and try to run it and you will receive the following error message:
"FRM-40010 : Cannot read form xxxxx"
    Solution
+ Re-compile the form against the same platform where it will be launched .
For example, if the production machine is 64-bit, all forms must be compiled against the production Server (64-bit).
    Disclaimer :-
    ===========
+ Moving an FMX from one machine to another is NOT supported. This is especially true when using Unix based platforms
See Note 299938.1 Moving Forms Applications From One Platform To Another
B - Is 64 bit Developer 11g version required for developing 11g forms and reports running on a 64 bit Deployment environment in WebLogic ?
There is no need for this. The fmb files are the same on all platforms.
Only the fmx files have to be compiled/generated for each platform.
For reports it even easier: you do not need to generate/compile the rdf, jsp files etc before running them.
C- Does it matter if the development platform for Forms and Reports developer is Windows or Linux if one is going to migrate the Forms or Reports to a 64 bit Linux platform and recompile?
No this does not matter, you are able to migrate from Windows to Unix - you must use the frmcmp_batch utility to generate the executables files.
Builders (Forms/Reports) will not be supported on 64bit operating systems.
Therefore, one can develop on the available 32bit Builders and then recompile/deploy to the 64 bit environment.

  • Waterfox or Mozilla developer version? (for 64bit Users)

which one is faster for win8.1 64bit? Mozilla Dev version or Waterfox?
    Thanks

I'm pretty sure because those browsers are comared with 32bit versions of browser. As Waterfox is solely made for 64bit architecture. It could utilize system resources from 64 bit OS more resulting faster performance. I've installed it and saw the process manager on my windows 8.1 64bit machine. which showed it is running on 32 bit. So technically waterfox should give more performance than firefox dev version.

    Hi Dude,
    Thank you for your response.
I didn't choose upgrade. I chose Fresh Installation.
Sorry for not giving background about the problem
The OEL 6.0 x32 was installed on a server with 64bit architecture, so the power of the server is not utilized well.
I want to completely replace the OEL 6.0 (32 bit) system with OEL 6.3 (64 bit)
Just I choose the mount point of /root and /boot and leave the all partitions with no formatting to save the old data
The above warning in the first post appears. How to avoid it?
