i got a problem here, i couldn't start listener, then i couldnt start the oracle console...
how could i solve this ?

To start the listener (with the default listener name):
$<DATABASE_HOME>/bin/lsnrctl start
Should you need to drop and recreate DB control, refer to Support note 278100.1.

IPod Touch location service doesnt work at all.
Hi guys, just having this issue, I have my iPod touch since 8 months ago, It worked fine, perfect. I upgrade it to iOS 5 and it worked fine, it was perfect.
But today the location service doesnt work, I triend with the google maps app, the Facebook and Twitter app and the location icon doesnt even appear in the screan, so I restart it and then I restore all the network configuration and the location warings, but the location service doesnt work.
I also tried to use Find my iPod on icloud.com but it says that couldn't locate it.
Any idea?

Today I went to my college and guess what? the location service was working perfectly again, but when I get home it didn't work, I was thinking about this:
I know iPod doesnt have a GPS, it use WiFi to find where you are, but, a week ago it was working fine at home, now it doesnt, the funny thing is that even if the iPod can not locate you, it should show the little location icon on the top of the screen. Dont you?
I mean, even if the iDevice can't find any know hotspot near, it should show the little icon. So, does the ipod connect to any server somewhere arround the world? or use any special port that maybe my router/ISP is blocking?
Any idea?

I restarted my itouch using the home button and top button...it restarted but it only shows the apple logo and that is it. I deleted all files from ifile and then it froze... any ideas of how to make it work again?

The Samsung Fascinate is a CDMA only device, which makes it great for use in areas were CDMA signal is available. Unfortunately, the country of Poland does not have CDMA service providers so the Fascinate will not work there. I recommend seeking options for equipment with your local carriers. Best of luck!

How to make PRINT QUOTAS WORK in 10.4
After struggling for quite some time, I finally found a pretty simple way to make print quotas work.
First, I’ll tell you our setup. We have 3 different computer centers with a variety of eMacs and new Intel iMacs, all clients are running 10.4.8, and each of those 3 centers has its own HP Laserjet 4200 printer. Our dual G5 server is running Server v.10.4.8. Client computers and printers have static IP addresses. All clients are bound to the server with the standard WorkGroup Manager/ LDAPv3 Directory Access scheme - such that all students login to the clients with their network username/password to mount their home directory on the client.
Next, I’ll tell you what does not work. IF YOU WANT PRINT QUOTAS TO WORK, you cannot use Workgroup Manager to assign a printer to any managed user account, user group, or computer group. Why? Because when you go to a client, and Show Info on the printer that is being pushed by Workgroup Manager, you’ll see that the queue name is not the queue that you’ve setup in Server Admin. Instead, you’ll see the queue name is “MCX” or something along those lines. Even if you manually edit the Workgroup print preference file that is being pushed to clients, it still will not work.
Drawbacks of my technique: In my case, students will see all 3 printers (1 from each lab) available to them no matter which lab they are in. Not the best, but for now I think it’ll be worth it to be able to control wasteful printing. Students may be able to move/delete the preference file (see below), but they’ll only be hurting themselves, as they won’t have any printers at all then.
Okay, here’s how I did it:
1. If you have setup any printers to be pushed out via Workgroup Manager’s preference enforcement to individual users, usergroups, or computer groups, turn those preferences off and leave them off.
2. Delete any existing printers in your Printer Setup Utility and/or Server Admin. Add and setup a new printer queue using the Server Admin> Print service. I added the printer through the Server Admin application, not Printer Setup Utility (may not matter). However, I did go into that latter utility to set the model of the printer. Now, back in Server Admin, edit the printer queue to turn on these services IPP, LPR (bonjour off), and of course check off the enforce quotas box. (No student Windows clients, so I didn’t tinker with SMB print service). I went ahead and specified the standard cover sheet – it will be handy while troubleshooting.
3. In Workgroup Manager, select the users that you want to enforce quotas upon, go to the Printer Quota tab (not the preference pane) and, in my case, I selected All Queues and specified a quota, and clicked Save.
4. Delete all printers that appear in the Printer Setup Utility from each client computer (I know, UGH).
5. For all network users, you need to edit a preference file and put it into each user’s home directory. That file is “com.apple.print.favorites.plist” and as you guessed, it needs to go into the Library> Preferences folder of every one of your network users’ home directories. Now, the content of that file is crucial… what it should show is the name of the queue(s) you created in Server Admin above, and be immediately followed by an “@” and the address of the server that is hosting that queue. For example, my queue’s name is TCStudentQ and the server’s address is student.mydomain.org… so my preference file has this entry: [email protected]. If you have more than one queue, you’ll have more entries. Be sure that the network user has at least Read level access under Group or Others. I’d recommend making the server System account the Owner of the file, and be sure to lock the file so the users can’t easily trash it. If you don’t know how to create this file in the first place, what you can do is go to a client computer, and log into the client with a dummy network account. Then open Printer Setup Utility, and you should see the queue you created in step 2. Add that printer, and then the file will be created in your dummy account’s home directory under Library> Preferences. Now you can use that file to distribute to other user’s folders… but don’t forget that each user needs Read level access.
6. That’s it. Works for me. When they exceed the quota, all that spits out is the cover page. It’d be nice if there was a quota monitor utility on the client side so users can see how many pages they have remaining and when the quota will automatically reset. I plan to start the quota on a Monday morning and go on a weekly duration. Not sure what a good starting point is… perhaps 25 pages every school week.
7. Hey Apple Computer, Inc. Server Developers & Project Managers, I truly hope you’re reading this and can explain why print quotas don’t function as you have documented and advertised. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I’ve spent way too much time discovering this workaround, and I know it will help thousands of others with the same problem. I can see where your Print Quota system breaks down, and I think you need to fix these issues or at least document them. Don’t forget to fix serious 10.4 Server bugs before leaving it behind for 10.5 Server – many of us will continue using 10.4 Server for at least another year or two.David,
Your assumption that I didn't read the documentation is incorrect. I read that 10.4 documentation over and over - followed it to the letter to no avail. Perhaps it was updated in the last few weeks? So, do you have a fully operable printer quota system in conjunction with a managed computer or user group that has a managed printer pushed to the group via Workgroup Manager? I can push a managed printer to a managed group without a problem, but the quotas won't be enforced unless I use the workaround above and cut Workgroup Manager's managed/pushed printer out of the picture.
I know this is a user-to-user forum - however, I'm also aware that Apple tech support often chime in here, so it doesn't hurt to post a message to them in the context of a larger posting about a 'known issue'. I have used the server feedback form... hasn't seemed to me to be very helpful in the past. -

I booked a genius bar service to see the technical consultant at 1:00 pm yesterday. I came at around 1:15 pm and I was told by the order person (i.e. the person who holds a list of bookings on an ipad and instructs customers to queue) that I had to book another service time (i.e. next week).Our conversation was not pleasant and is (roughly) the following one.
Order person: You missed your appointment so book another one and come next week.
Me: I had my work and that is why I am late.
Order person: Sorry you need to book another one.
Me: No other alternative? I took a bus and came all the way here.
Order person: Or you can try Bondi.
Me: ............No other alternative?
Order person: Or you can wait for half an hour to one hour. You have seen how many people there are here.
Me: All right. I understand so can I ask you some technical questions?
Order person: You need to make a booking and talk to a genius service person.
Me: I just want to know given the issue I have if I can make a replacement.
Order person: What is your problem?
Me: I bought this iphone here in Sydney and gave it to someone who lives overseas as a gift. When he made a call he frequently could not hear anything from the other end. I bought two iphones, one black and one white. (I showed him my reciept.) The white one works but the black one doesn't.
Order person: Did you restore it?
Me: Yes and I brought it here. (I showed him the iphone.)
Order person: You do not have a micro-SIM card in the phone?
Me: No because I do not use an iphone.
Order person: If you do not have a SIM card then how can we assess it?

Order person: Yes.
Me: I came here three times and different people told me different things. The first two times both the came-up people said just take your phone and we can offer you a replacement. So I think this is how it should be.
Order person: Well, I'm sorry!!! Now you know you need to have your micro-SIM card.
Me: Can I see your manager? I want to know exactly what I need to do.
Order person: I am the manager at the moment.
Me: So that is all I need to bring? Iphone and its SIM card.
Order person: Yes.
Me: OK.
Order person and his colleague had an unpleasant laugh after I turned.
There are a few things I want to make a complaint on and I'd like to see you guys' opinions on this.
The order person's attitude was not very acceptable. I understand he is an expert in this area but I believe there are non-expert customers like me who takes time to understand. Some of his words and his laugh made me very uncomfortable.
Even I have come three times I am still confused about what I need to bring to see the genius service person. I can bring an iphone but I do not have an Australian micro-SIM card (since this iphone is a gift to other people who lives overseas).

Having said this, using all the modern technology of identifying and tracking my device to e.g. figur out the warranty status, I find it not satisfactory. People like in my case relocate from time to time and Apple as an international company with employees world-wide should know better I think and I expect a more customer oriented problem solving attitude and -if you want to make a difference - it sure is possible.

For me there is a gap between the glamourous coolness, hand-shaking and introducing oneself on one hand and the unsatisfactory problem solution from the customer's perspective. As such I am already annoyed/frustrated when my device is not working as it is supposed to. Getting just process-required and not flexible responses does not help.
And no, I don't feel well, if I have an appointment scheduled for 10 minutes, invest already hours to make it happen and stay for much longer.
What annoys me is that I get the impression despite the fact that as an 'already educated customer' I do a lot myself in figuring out what to do best and be considerate and I am still confronted with an attitude as if I don't 'function good enough' as customer and should know this and that and better. I bought a macbook off of a friend but the CD drive to the computer doesnt work and was broke awhile ago. I needed to install some software onto this computer so I bought the Apple USB SuperDrive thinking it would work, but later finding out that it is only compatible with macs that dont have a superdrive built in. An Apple support technician told me that it could be done through a process, but she couldn't help me with. So it would be greatly appreciated if someone can help me with this problem. Thank You!

I just got a new macbook pro (my other one stopped working). I am trying to sync the music on my iphone to my new mac's itunes library. I've clicked sync in iTunes but it doesnt work. how can i do this? I don't want it to delete everything from my phone or old computer.

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...

Basic Authentication, how to make it work?

I am trying to make http basic authentication work in BEA Weblogic, and I am using
'examplesWebApp' as my sample program. So far, I can see the browser popup dialogbox,
but I always got authentication failure message after I gave login and password.
Steps which I did:
1. Start server - Start examples server which is weblogic700/samples/server/config/examples/startExamplesServer.sh
(I am on Sun's Solaris).
2. Start descriptor editing window -- In Management Console, select Deployment -->
Web Applications --> examplesWebApp, then start "Edit Web Appliation Deployment Descriptors.."
in another browser window.
3. Login Config - In the new window, select "Web App Descriptor", then "Configure
a new Login Config...", then select "Basic" for Auth Method , and type in "myrealm"
for "Realm Name".
4. Specify constraints - Select "Security Constraints", and then "Configure a new
Security Constraint". Use "MySecurity Constraint" as the display name, and use "MyWeb
Resource Collection" as Resource Name. Type in /* in the "Url Patterns" field.
5. Configure a security role - Select "Security Constraints", and then "Configure
a new Security Role". Type in Admin for "Role Name".
6. Configure a Auth Constraint - Select "Security Constraints" --> "MySecurity Constraint",
then "Configure a new Auth Constraint...". Click on Create button in Configuration
tab, then move Admin from Available to Choosen column, then click on Apply
7. Persist these changes and then restart the server
That's all what I did, and then I use 'weblogic/weblogic' as login/password to try
to login to http://localhost:7001/examplesWebApp/HelloWorld2. I can see the popup
dialogbox, but I always get a failure message. By the way, weblogic/weblogic (login/password)
always work for Management Console window.
The user "weblogic" is a user defined in myrealm, and it is also in Administrators
group. The role definition of "Admin" in myrealm has "Caller is a member of group
Administrators" as one of its conditions. So my understanding is that it should work,
but unfortunately it doesn't. I must miss some steps or part of my understanding
may not be right.

lets check what is the authentication selected for the Central Admin web applicaiton.
go to CA --> Appliaction management --> manage web applicaiton --> select the central admin web app --> on the top ribbon select "Authentication Providers".
here , verify under IIS authenticaiton settings section, which option is selected, if the basic authenticaiton check box is checked, please uncheck it and select "integrated Windows Authentication".
if this doesnt work,
try unprovisioning and reprovisioning the CA usning command ..
psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs -unprovision
psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs -provision -port 0000 -windowsauthprovider onlyusentlm

if you have other servers in the farm, you can just start the Central Admin service on other server and stop it on the current one from "Services on server

ECC 6.0 Upgrade - Lot of Custom Objects - How to make it work ???

My client is on HR 4.6c and ESS in standalone ITS and upgrading to ECC 6.0 and EP7. They have lot of custom objects ( Reports, ABAP Queries, Function Modules etc., ) and lot of customization done in ESS ( Std tcodes copied and developed ESS services in ITS). What is the approach to be followed to upgrade these custom objects/transactions into ECC 6.0? Once up gradation done, Is there any changes to be done either in EP 7 side or R/3 side ( ECC 6 ) in order to call those z tcodes in EP7 ( ESS )?
Client is happy with the current functionality in ESS ( ITS ) , wanted to use the same functionality in new system. Any clue on how to make use of those Z transactions useful in ECC 6? Can we call these transactions in ESS in EP7? Your response will be highly appreciated. Example: For open enrollment, instead of std PZ14 , they have copied and developed their own transaction to use in ESS ( 4.6c ). The same one should also work in EP7 and ECC 6.

Thank you for your reply. But we have custom transactions( Screen based , module pool ) used in 4.6C, ESS ( ITS), What are the changes we may have to make potentially to work those programs from EP7 ESS.
What are the changes you suggest to make in R/3 ECC6 ( after upgrade )and also EP7 side ( Like crating custom I Views would be a best bet ? )
