Lync on Nokia N8-00 Belle: Not signing in/connecti...

Hi,
I recently installed Lync when it became available as an update on Nokia Suite. We use Lync at the company I work for, and the company allows personal mobile devices to connect to the service. I completed all the fields required to sign-in, but I never got signed-in or connected. The startup screen just tells me for 5-10 minutes that it is initiating a session, and then that it is trying to connect. This is where it gets stuck and idles forever. I tried to connect both while connected to a wifi network and to my provider's 3G network.
I asked the support staff at my company and they told me to try again providing the internal and external discovery address (https://......../Autodiscover/autodiscoverservice.svc/Root), but this didn't work either. I was also asked to try connecting to my account from two different Android devices, one with the same service provider I have and the other with a different service provider, and I was able to connect. I also tried to connect using a different phone (also a Nokia N8 running Symbian Belle) and, again, it failed to sign-in/connect. That's where we found out that nobody using a Nokia running on Symbian can connect to the Lync server in our company, while all iPhone and Android users can.
Of course, while trying to connect from my phone, we tried many different variations: entering username and domain in their own fields and only on the username field (domain\username), checking and unchecking the registration option, using the IP address for the server instead of its name, etc., etc. Nothing worked.
The support staff also confirmed that the Lync server has all the latest mobility components installed, as specified here: Set up Lync for mobile devices.
Can somebody here please provide a working solution that allows me to connect?
Thank you in advance!

Hi argie
Yes, one potential reason for the Lync sign-in failure has been found. Not sure if it's the issue in your case but please check with your server administrator that SSLv3 connections are enabled on the server side. Lync client uses SSLv3 for the communication and it has turned out that in some cases SSLv3 has been disabled on the server, causing the Lync sign in to fail.
The instructions for adjusting the SSLv3 setting can be found in the MS KB article below:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/187498/en-us
If SSL 3.0 is now disabled, turn it on and try signing in again.

@pj98
Hello,
Well, after more than a year, I can tell you now that the servers have SSL3 enabled. I am still unable to sign in. The support staf at my company was able to verify my connection attempts, with the server returning the standard messages to my device. Can you please provide some guidance?
Cheers,
Carlos

  • Random Lync Phone Edition Disconnections - Sometimes does not sign back in

We recently had a user who reported that his Lync Phone (Polycom CX600) was signed out when he came in first thing in the morning and it was sitting at a sign-in error page.  The phone then was having problems signing in.  We had to factory reset
the phone is order for it to get reconnected.
After the user complained once again about a week later that he found he phone signed out, I had the local tech take a look at the phone.  She tells me it was then signed in.  Now i'm baffled.  The phone was signed out earlier but then decided
to sign itself back in and was working just fine.  One thing else to note, we replaced the phone with a brand new one and still had the same issues.
I checked the DBAnalyze logs with snooper and found several errors that concerned me.  Here is one of the errors I found:

The part that concerns me is the "ABNORMAL SIGNOUT" message.  I found that this is happening to quite a few users around the company and quite frequently.  Has anyone else seen this issue before and if so, any clue as to what an abnormal
signout is?  Upper-management would like an explanation and i'm not quite sure how to explain it.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for responding Lisa.
I don't see the exact events described in the KB Article that you sent but I do see some similar schannel errors that are not descript at all.

  • Nokia N8 Symbian Belle - Mobile Data Auto Connecti...

I have recently updated my n8 to symbian belle and I am having trouble in disabling the mobile data. For some reason the 3G connection icon keeps on beeping in the menu bar. It keeps on trying to connect to packet data even though i have disabled  the mobile data from the menu bar. I also disable it from the connection and admin settings but its still trying to connect to the 3G network all the time. It is big issue for me because the battery is only lasting about 12hours where as before it lasted almost 2 days. Also I do not have any access points for the 3G network, I only got a wifi access point on it.

i had one program which kept running on the background, i removed it now but it still trying to connect somehow. I went through all my applications also. There wasnt any given net settings. Could it be because my mobile was locked to a 3 network before and the OS version is based on the 3 network? It comes with useless apps which are net based but do not work for me because you need to have a 3 network and they cant be removed.

  • Lync Client 2013 not Signing in, But Lync 2010 Do Sign In

    Dears,
I have a weird problem, I have installed Lync 2013 FE Server, after I finished installing it I tried to test the log in with the Lync 2013 client, it asked for authentication but everytime I enter the authentication it gives me an error of server is unavailable
    now.
I've checked the DNS records, ports and certificate everything is fine, but it doesn't sign in. The weird issue here is that I tried to use a Lync 2010 client and it signed successfully with no error and within 2 seconds!!!
The only thing different in my deployment here is that I've updated the Lync to CU1 before I start the services for the first time and also before requesting and assigning the certificates.
Please do anyone has an idea of why this is happening? I will try tomorrow to uninstall Lync and its databases and start fresh without the CU1.

    Hi,
Please check if the Lync 2013 uses the automatical configuration to sign in Lync seve.
Please check the Client version policy in the Lync server control panel. Maybe the client version policy block it with mistake configuration.
Have a test to install the Lync 2013 on other PC then check the issue again.

    Hi,
Have you checked the phone received a valid DHCP lease on the network after running cmdlets?
Please check SRV records as Lync phone cannot utilize manual configuration.
Make sure the sign in user has been Enterprise Voice enabled.
Please double check the steps configuring common area phone:

  • Lync 2013 mobility and external access not working

    Hi all.
I installed and configured Lync Server 2013 Front End and Lync Server 2013 Edge on Windows Server 2012 R2.
Internal lync clients (not mobile) can successfully connect to server and everything works fine for them. External users can connect only with manual configuration of address of external lync server in lync client, autodiscovery doesn't work.
I also installed and configured IIS ARR Reverse Proxy on Windows Server 2012 R2 using this article -
http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2013/02/19/using-iis-arr-as-a-reverse-proxy-for-lync-server-2013.aspx. But it doesn't work too. When I try to connect I get 'Unable to connect to the server. Check your network connection or the server address and
    try again'.
I configured dns records in the external dns zone.
    For Edge:
    sip.extdomain.ru – IP1
    lyncwebconf.extdomain.ru – IP2
    lyncav.extdomain.ru – IP3
    For Reverse Proxy:
    lyncdialin.extdomain.ru - IP4
    lyncmeet.extdomain.ru - IP4
    lyncextweb.extdomain.ru - IP4
    lyncdiscover.extdomain.ru - IP4
I issued all needed certificates by the internal CA and added following alternative names.
    For FE certificate:
    sip.cherry.loc
    lync.cherry.loc
    dialin.cherry.loc
    meet.cherry.loc
    admin.cherry.loc
    lyncdiscoverinternal.cherry.loc
    lyncdiscover.cherry.loc
    lyncdialin.extdomain.ru
    lyncmeet.extdomain.ru
    lyncextweb.extdomain.ru
    lyncdiscover.extdomain.ru
For Edge external and Reverse Proxy:
    lyncav.extdomain.ru
    sip.extdomain.ru
    lyncwebconf.extdomain.ru
    lyncdialin.extdomain.ru
    lyncmeet.extdomain.ru
    lyncextweb.extdomain.ru
    lyncdiscover.extdomain.ru
    cherry.loc
The root certificate of internal CA installed on all servers and client devices.
Using Wireshark I see that Reverse Proxy communicating with FE on port 4443.
Here is an excerpt from mobile client log.

  • Geocaching Live Nokia E7-00 Belle

Since Belle I can't install my favorite geocaching Java App. Nokia E7-00 Belle
On Anna it was not a problem.
When I try to install it I get an internal error "java.lang.SecurityException: METS_INF/LIVE.SF  has invalid digest for v.class in E:\Installs\GeocachingLive.jar"
    This is the app: http://live.geocaching.com/dl/GeocachingLive.jar
    Thanks
    Solved!

    Hi diggerholeKJ,
    Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Have you tried downloading the beta on the site you gave and see if the Geocaching works?
As Belle is an update and a different platform to Anna, certain applications may have not been updated to work along side Belle. IF problems still persist, we recommend you to contact the developers to see where they are with updating the application.
    Regards,

i want to change my symbian nokia 5230 to belle i want to try something new

    Hi kunal12345,
    Welcome to the Forum.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to upgrade your 5230 with Symbian Belle.  Only the Symbian ^3 can be updated with Symbian Belle and your phone being a S60 it's not possible.

    Hi everybody,
a few days ago, my Music Unlimited Service stopped working on my Sony Z1 Compact. I had the latest Walkman App Update installed. I just couldn't sign in anymore. It was very annoying - I am paying for this service.
Well, here is how I solved the problem and I please you SONY, please help your people! We really love your products but you have to keep on working hard and get things done! FIRST: Improve the conversation with us, do inform us about issues !!! SECOND: Better test your software and improve your quality management !!!
    ok:
    - Go to settings and apps, choose Walkman.
    - Stop the App. Uninstall all updates and re-activate the shipped version
    - Restart your phone
The old app is without the sidebar and all these bells and whistles but it is working at least ...

See my similar thread on "Email will not send on Nokia Email"...
I think a contract has expired somewhere in Nokia-land which was providing the connectivity to the outside world or they've had a major routing failure but it's very noticeable that it started happening on 1st April 2012 - which is when support contracts often run to.
I contacted them and I got a response (automated I think) saying "contact my email service provider" but it works just fine from everywhere else - and how come it worked fine on Saturday but was half-borken Sunday through my mobile (3 UK)?

  • Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284 "Could not sign in" problem (N...

    Hi,
I have just installed Ovi suite 3.0.0.284 as suggested through software update and it works but I cannot sign into my account. I enter my details and I get an error as attached.
    The following things are ok:
    I can check for updates
    I can sync everything
    I can download new maps
I can browse the internet on my computer and get my email, etc
I can logon to Ovi online with these details and I could be fore upgrading.
Does anyone else have this problem or a solution?
    Thanks, Rob
PS I have no proxy's set, this is at home on broadband.

    HI,
Some suggestions for your Ovi account issues:
I can not sign in my Ovi account with Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0, why?
With Nokia Ovi Suite there is currently a known problem with expired certificates that can potentially prevent OVI account sign-in.
As a workaround you can remove the problematic certificates manually:
Go to Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Content > Certificates > Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Delete all GTE CyberTrust certificates whose expiration date has passed. You should be left with one GTE certificate that is valid.
Why i am not able to sign my Nokia Ovi account with Nokia Ovi Suite?
-Intermittent problems are most likely network connectivity or server problems.
If the user cannot sign in at all through Nokia Ovi Suite (NOS) but can sign in to ovi.com through a web browser then the reason is most likely one of the following:
    - firewall settings do not allow nokia server process to communicate with the server,
    - proxy settings are not configured correctly in Internet Explorer (NOS uses IE proxy configuration),
    - proxies require authentication but credentials have not been provided in NOS settings,
    - the internet service provider does not allow access to ovi.com (but in this case sign in with a browser would not work either if the same network connection is being used), or
    - Windows WinTrust framework is not functional so nokia server cannot verify the signature of Nokia Ovi Suite (This may be a problem in pirate/unregistered versions of Windows or if the PC has been infected with a virus)
