M9 not working via USB connection.

From the card directly onto the macbookpro it recognises only the camera not the lens in the metadata. Nothing via the USB connection. Does anyone know if we are still waiting for an update to Aperture for this? If so that's ok, I'd just like to use Aperture rather than Lightroom.

Login to airport utility via Mac or windows pc. Look under connected usb devices and it should say your manufacturer for the printer. If not try rebooting both printer and router with them being plugged in or try different usb cable or port on printer.

New Officejet Pro 6830 will not print via USB connection. It scans great to PC. It copies.

New HP Officejet Pro 6830 for user to have local USB printer/scanner at desk. User runs win 7 64 bit on a network. Raninstall through setup.exe. Followed steps, connected printer via USB when it said to and it detected it and finished install.You can use HP Scan software and it scans to the PC perfectly. It will not print from any application or even a testpage from the Printer Properties page. If you go to the maintenance application it will print status and test page. If you run HP Scan and Print doctor it does it's thing, gives all Green Check marks and lets you print a test page fine, but it stillwill not print even a test page from the printer properties page (start/Devices and Pritners/right click on Officejet Pro 6830, select Printer Properties for Officejet Pro 6830 (not the Fax 6830), and click print test page. It does not seethe printer. It is a networked PC and has network defined HP network printers as well but user wanted a printer/scanner at his desk. I actually took the unit and connected to my laptop which is same win 7 64 bit platform and it does the same thing. I disable the virus protection to do the install so that is not an issue. It clearly sees and installs the printer, andlike I said the HP Scan works fine so it is connected via the USB to the PC, but it will not print. I have tried to install from the CD, and removed device and tried to install from the new downloaded drivers as well and it just does not want to print.I have conected to different USB ports, and like I said actually tried it on a different PC and had same results. Hi , I see by your post that you can scan, but are unable to print over the USB connection. I would be happy to help you.
I have provided a document for setting Security permissions for printing to see if that will help. If the issue persists, reinstall the printer on the Administrator Account to see if you have the same results.Unlock Hidden Administrator Account and install the printer on this account: Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD. CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'. Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter. Next, close CMD and restart your computer. When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it. If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked.Under the Administrator account, install the printer software. Test the printer. IPOD WILL NOT WORK VIA USB WITH MY HOME TEATHRE

When I plug my iPod to my stereo via USB that came with iPod, stereo says no USB device connected and then after few seconds, it starts playing, although, iPod displays same screen as when synching with the Do Not Disconnect logo and cannot stop it from playing and when I disconnect it, I can't turn it off. This also happens occasionally, that I cannot turn it off.

You might get better answers if you included the exact make and model of the home theatre system. You should also search the forums using the "Search Discussions" box to see if there are any other threads about your particular brand of home theatre. Also, did you ever check the support site or contact customer support for the home theatre and car stereo?

N9 not detected via USB connection

Since last few months I have observed that my Nokia N9 is not detected via any PC if connected via USB cable. The USB cable is OK because my other devices are easily detected through same cable. Can anyone suggest solution. I have already try to "Clear device" under settings->Reset.

Presumably your N9 still charges when connected to PC USB?
Does this apply to both Nokia Suite and Mass Storage mode presupposing that Nokia Suite is installed upon PC?

Personal Hotspot on iPhone 4s not working via USB cable

In the last couple of weeks, I have not been able to use the Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4s via the USB/sync cable to either of two 2011 Macs, both running the latest version of Lion, with all relevant software updated, including Flashback removal & Java updates. The connection via Bluetooth & wi-fi is unaffected.
Opening the Network System Preference pane, the connection is shown as iPhone USB, but it is not connected, even with all other internet access methods either deactivated or disconnected.
This issue is related to Lion, as the G4 & G5 PPC Macs running 10.5.8 which I either use or administer are not affected by this problem. The iPhone is running on iOS 5.1 and is not jailbroken.
Is it possible that the Flashback/Java issues and Apple's interpretation of their prevention/removal has affected this aspect of internet access via Personal Hotspot?

A wireless printer connects to the network just like your computer, or iPhone/iPad, etc. connects using wireless.
The printer must be set up intially to scan to "find" available wireless networks, then your specific wireless network needs to be selected. Then the password for the network needs to be entered.
Once the printer is configured to join the network, it is always connected to the network. No further configuration is required.

I called this problem into Apple and they solved it for me. The problem is in the downloader associated with iTunes. Skip that step and go to Apple.com and download the new iTunes softwere update (Version 11.1) directly. I did this and installed it successfully. After restarting the computer iTunes recognized my phone and all was well. Then I updated and installed the ios7 update without any problems. No charge. Full cudo's to Apple!

Keyboard & Trackpad not working but USB are...

Hi - 2007 white Macbook, 10.6.8...
Today the machine appeared to keep freezing completely... after numerous checks (including booting in 10.5), it transpired it was the keyboard and trackpad that weren't responding, not the OS. I know this because I plugged in a USB keyboard/mouse to check and they work fine.
That said, the onboard keyboard & trackpad do work upon boot up for anything from 1 to 10 minutes. Then they just stop responding and I have to resort back to USB again. I can see others who've had similar problems but I can't find a solution.
It doesn't appear to be a fatel hardware error because they will always work on boot up for a limited time. All updates are applied and disc permissions repaired.
Anyone know how to solve this? Appreciate the help - stars all round, thanks.

It doesn't sound like a fatal hardware issue but I think your Top Case Assembly or the connection cable are going bad. The top case is basically the plate containing your keyboard, trackpad, and power button.
The fact that it works via USB basically confirms that, but there is the outside shot that the connector on the Logic Board could be the problem....
Before you take it to an Apple Store, try to boot it up from your software discs that came with your Mac (disc #1, you can do this by restarting your Mac with the disc in and holding down the C key after the startup chime) and see if the problem occurs. If it does, I would have an Apple Service Provider or an Apple Store replace your Top Case for you.If it's okay on the discs, run your Disk Utility on the software disc and reinstall the OS.

Printer settings not working on USB network printer since update to 10.6

I have a Canon Pixma IX4000 that is via USB connected to my server. We all print to it over ‘Printer Sharing’.
Under 10.5 you could use any setting on a computer, print it and the server would pass the settings on.
Since upgrading the server to 10.6 (not the server edition) I can for example no longer print in Grey.
All other computers are still on 10.5.
As a first step I upgrade the driver to the CUPS Printer Driver for OSX (10.26.0) ,as I figured that might be it (is also the only one for 10.6). (http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010322.asp)
No luck.
Next I updated the drivers on the other machine. No luck.
Any suggestions as to what to do to fix this?

Hi Uriko - this sounds like something has gone wrong with your routing. I assume that you still have Internet access and the problem is limited to a specific domain.
Can you open your terminal program and type "nslookup URL" where you replace URL with the "specific url" you mentioned in your post.
For example for "nslookup www.demon.net" you get

Name: www.demon.net
Address: 212.69.213.230
The last line contains the IP address. Use this instead of the domain name and see whether this works. For example, instead of pointing your browser at "http://www.demon.net/about-us" you would write "http://212.69.213.230/about-us"

Usb composite device is an older usb device and might not work in USB 3

I recently bought one Lenovo Yoga 2 11 laptop running Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
When I try to connect my old Brother MFC-3240C printer using USB (2.0), it doesn’t work.
Below are the steps performed:
Connected the printer to USB 2.0 port on laptop (on the right side). Automatically installed the printer driver (no exclamation mark beside printer icon)
When the printer didn’t print, I tried to use troubleshoot as below:
Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Devices and Printers->Right Click on Printer Icon->Troubleshoot.
It came up with USB composite device is an older usb device and might not work in USB 3.0
Removed the printer and re-installed the driver. It is all the same.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
FYI – the same printer works fine with my older laptops running Windows 7.

Already checked Brothers website for the printer drivre for Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
It says ... The built-in driver is already included with Windows® Operating System or is available through Windows® update.
So, installed the default driver for the printer that is available with Windows 8.1.
Even connected the printer with USB 3.0 port on the laptop, but it is all the same.

Then you won't be syncing your notes anymore.

My Mac Mini will charge - but not sync with - USB-connected devices (ipod, camera, memory card reader). I have tried unplugging the devices, restarting the computer, selectively unplugging and plugging in the devices, closing and opening the relevant applications (iTunes, iPhoto, etc). I have tried using different USB cables.
It's like all of a sudden the synching service stopped functioning or recognizing these devices for some reason. The other ports work just fine (monitor).
The only USB-connected external device that appears to be unaffected is the USB SuperDrive and it works on all the USB ports into which I plug it.
How do I fix this?

Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens or doesn't happen.

Satellite M50D-A : USB 3.0 devices not working in USB 3.0 ports

I can use 2.0 devices in the 3.0 ports fine, but my 3.0 device Flash Voyager USB3 8GB will not work. It connects then disconnects once, not showing up in device manager at all.
I've tried installing the USB driver off this site version 2.0.10.273-130101a for my model. That made no difference.

I found in Corsair forum some threads and complaints about the troubles connecting the Voyager USB3.0 stick to USB 3.0 ports. Here the link the Corsair threads:

It looks like there are some compatibility problems between the USB controller (from AMD but _not_ Intel) and this USB stick.
One of the solutions could be the usage of other USB 3.0 flash memory sticks which are supported by AMD chipset.
You could also try to update the driver manually. You will need to check firstly the chipsets specs and name. To do that, I recommend you to install some kind of hardware diagnostic software (Everest Home Edit or Sandra Sisoft).
Then you could check on AMD page if an update for this chipset is available.
