Mac Pro 2013 will not boot up

After Power on, the Mac Pro (the newest) does not boot up. I have 2 Monitors connected to the Mac Pro. The first via HDMI, the 2.nd via Thunderbold. Also there a 2 HD Devices connected via USB. So when the Mac Starts up on the left (the main screen) a spinning wheel behind a grey Screen appears. The 2.nd Screen show graphical errors. And nothing happen. Onlny when i turn power off an i try it a 2nd. time the Pro starts up correctly. This appears nearly every day since two weeks. I have to start the Pro always two times before i can work with it. I have run the hard disk utility an i have repaired the permissions. the were no errors. I think the build in SSD may have a problem. So is there anyone outside who knows the problems i described ?

Product recall?
I doubt it. Considering demand for this product was so high it was on allocation for six months, the number of reported problems falls far short of a recall-level problem.
It just sounds like this unit and a few others need service.
Regardless, do not wait for Apple to take action. Focus on getting YOUR specific problem solved. Contact Apple as soon as possible.

  • 2009 Mac Pro Quad Will Not Boot

    Hi.
I have a 2009 Quad 3.0Ghz Mac Pro that will not boot up.
I went to it this morning and the beach ball was spinning. I could not get it to stop and as a last resort, turned it off. It has been working fine, although
I have noticed a little slow (Could be me, though).
When I tried to reboot it, it tried to start, chime went off, but it stayed on the light grey screen and eventually, it had a folder with a question mark in it
    that blinked.
I disconnected all peripherals, no change.
Tried to boot from the optical drive  with Disk Warrior, no change.
    Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Brian

The Chime is generated in Software when the first part of the Power-On Self Test has passed. If an appropriate source of software can be found, booting is likely.
it had a folder with a question mark in it that blinked.
That says it could not find the last-specified source of software. the drive may be damaged, or it may have forgotten where it should be looking.
Tried to boot from the optical drive  with Disk Warrior, no change.
Next try a 10.6 DVD. "A Mac that cannot boot from an appropriate Installer/Utilities DVD has a Hardware problem".
One of the simplest things it should be able to do is Startup Manager. Hold down the Alt/Option key at startup and it should draw a gray or blue screen and slowly draw an Icon for each potentially-bootbale device (including a bootable DVD, if inserted).

Yes the original Install Discs can be replaced for a nominal fee. Call AppleCare, you will need a credit card and the serial number of the machine. You can use the AppleCare Contact Info for the phone number on your part of the planet.

dunno, Lynn--maybe Etrecheck. trying running disk utility to verify the status of your hard drive. That may give you a basic idea. Perhaps tech tool pro.  As for it running hot, I can't say for sure. try shutting it down and using a vacuum clearner +crevice tool around the back of it.  It's been my experience that hard drives usually fail without a lot of warning, luckily you have a backup. Afterwards you can say "Yup, that went bad".  I've done a little research and found out that your MacBook Pro doesn't come with a conventional hard drive as such, but an SSD (solid state device) . It's upgradeable (up to 1 TB ) but not cheaply
go here for more info (OWC) :http://eshop.macsales.com. For right now, I'd recommend resetting the SMC/PMU, maybe zapping the pram . to do that, reboot, hold down Apple+Option, P+R keys while rebooting. Hold down for 3 chimes, let go and let it boot. as for the SMC thing....
I'm assuming your battery isn't removeable-shut down computer, plug in MagSafe cable . On built in keyboard, on left side, press Shift-Control-Option and power button at the same time.  release all the keys and the power button. press power button again to turn on computer
    that is all

I have a MacBook Pro that will not boot up. The apple symbol is there and the spinning wheel keeps spinning. Any idea how I can fix this?

    Reinstall OS X.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    OR
Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

i have a mack pro which will not open in windows from boot camp get to the two options and select windows drive but it will not open can you help Please

Hi there, Well, i thing i might have had the same problem (if you dont mean the selecting part, then try keyboad with usb and without if u dont have a macbook pro or so), i did the same and after selecting windows it said "No bootable disk" or " no boot disk" or something like that and the installer wont start when i was trying to install via CD/DVD.
The sulution is to use 2 usb-drives, one for the support drivers from apple and one for the windows it self after burning the CD/DVD to the usb on a PC using the windows own tools and creating a ISO file.
(there might be problems whit CD/DVD install sometimes)
The ISO file on a own USB is the most importat thing!! (and even apple and windows didnt know that but me and a technikal support guy from the store i bought it managed to fix it after like 4 days )
    Hope it work now mate!

  • Macbook Pro Frozen, will not boot up

    Hi,
My MBP is continually freezing and it seems to only happen while Safari is running.  I reset Safari, cleared history and it worked better for a short time.  My notebook is now frozen and will not boot past the gray start up page. After the Apple icon appears the desktop goes to all gray and I cannot do anything.  I am nervous to continue the hard reboots (manually holding the power button.)  I cannot have any hard drive errors.  This is a mid 2011 model Macbook Pro.  Any advice?
    Thanks!

  • Satellite Pro 4340DVD will not boot up - pci.sys missing or corrupt

    I bought a Toshiba Laptop Satellite Pro 4340DVD Model # PS434C-3N152, Serial # Y0018185J, off E-Bay.
The original operating system, Win 98SE has been upgraded to Win XP Pro. No disks came with the laptop.
The laptop crashed yesterday while I was online and will not boot-up.
    _Error message reads:_
+The following file is missing or corrupt: System32\DRIVERS\pci.sys.+
Any suggestions on how to rectify this problem will be deeply appreciated. I would very much like to have a users manual for this unit but haven't been able to find one.
    Thanks!
    Sam

Turns out that the dirty dawg was Anti-Virus 2009 that caused the problem. Managed to get laptop to boot up in "safe mode," found the dirty dawg, deleted it, and the laptop booted right back up.
    This issue is resolved!

  • Satellite Pro M10 will not boot again and comes up with the error message

My Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 notebook will not boot again and comes up with the error message "load error" when I push the power button.
The problem arised after installation of "symantec system works" and trying to restart windows XP professional to make the installed program executable.
What can I do to get the notbook restart again?

    Hi everyone
If you cannot acces to the boot menu by pressing F8 you can try to recover the the master boot record from Windows Xp professional installation Cd, to do this:
Attention: don't run these commands if you have more than one operating systems running in your laptop.
Boot from Windows Xp installation cd
Choose repair installation from console by pressing "C" key.
A console will open asking you for administrator password, insert the password and press enter.
Run de command: FIXMBR (It will write a new boot record)
Run de command: FIXBOOT (It will write a new boot file)
Restart the laptop and now windows should start without problems.

  • Satellite Pro L300 will not boot after Bios update

    Help please.
I have just formated a Satellite Pro L300 laptop.
I used all the updated drivers from Toshiba and all went very well.
I then updated the bios with the latest version.
After doing this the laptop will not boot but just keeps scrolling through the start menu and no matter what option I choose it just keeps doing the same thing.
    Any ides welcome

    Hi
I used the Microsoft installation disk but just keep getting to the same stage until the blue screen appears. I have tried different installation disks and also changed the hard drives as well. I can do everything in bios, change boot device enable or disable devices but that is it. I have tried a few times to instal windows but it just stops at the same point saying windows is stopping instal to protect the system. I fear the bios update has done some permanent damage as I cant get past the dreaded blue screen. Thanks anyway

  • Satellite Pro A120 will not boot up

    Sorry for bad English!
    My computer will not boot.
I want to install a BIOS but connecting it to another computer but I dont know how?

In my opinion its not a faulty BIOS but I think the virus on your notebook caused this issue.
    The error message says everything:
+Malicious program will access to the read memory+
    +problems on bios+
If you are not able to boot up the notebook, neither from the Recovery CD, bootable CD (XP, Linux) nor from HDD then its a serious issue and you should definitely contact the ASP in your country.
If you are a lucky man then the ASP technician would be able to flash the BIOS ROM using a special procedure and the notebook should function again.
    Bye

  • Mac Pro 3.1 not booting anymore

Circa 12 hours ago, I've made it to first install Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro 3.1, and, using BootCamp, I put Windows 7 64-bit on it and made it my default boot partition. After installing a few simple programs on it (VLC, Firefox) plus a few automatic Windows updates (whereupon it crashed one time which made the update process a bit more difficult), I decided to migrate data from another computer on an external disk to use on my Mac Pro.
Considering it wouldn't take long, I just plugged in the monitor and keyboard + mouse into the other computer without shutting my Mac Pro off. Turned out that it did take a bit longer than I'd expected for the files to get transferred from my other comp to the external disk...8 hours, to be exact.
When I then switched everything (Monitor and keyboard) back and tried to wake Windows 7 on my Mac Pro up from "sleep" aka "standby", I found out that it had obviously crashed and didn't respond. Screen stayed black. So I used the front button on the tower to boot it. Ever since then, the machine just plain refuses to boot up.
When I'm trying to use the Windows partition, the Windows DVD, or the "EPI" option when using the option key, what I'm getting is a screen (white text on black screen, with very nasty green stripes all over the screen) similar to the one giving me the option of "save mode", only that it's telling me that Windows fails to start entirely, and I can choose either "try start Windows again", or run some diagnoses for hardware failures. Trying again will give me the very same screen again. The diagnosis tool looks like the Windows install screen again, with very low resolution and wrong aspect ratio. Diagnosis tool is telling me that it can't solve the problem, which is that it's suddenly missing "hardware support" or "drivers" in order to boot.
Next, it offers me to go back to a previous state of my Windows installation (similar to Time Machine in MacOS), but no matter which one I click, I'm getting the error that it can't reset the system to any of those earlier times as it's getting no access rights. At least I can see there that the last updates made to Windows, next to a few last automatic Windows updates, consist of DirectX9 and Nero 9 (the latter reading on the box "now with Windows 7 support!", but it doesn't say anything about support for 64-bit). If it's not the long sleep state, I wonder if any out of those two could be the culprit.
On the other hand, if I'm using the option key on boot in order to boot into my Snow Leopard partition or boot from my Snow Leopard DVD, all that happens is that the entire machine freezes on that grey BG with the Apple logo and the spinning clock symbol that just freezes right in the middle of its rotations.
So that's what I got now. Windows partition won't boot. Windows DVD won't boot. Snow Leopard partition won't boot. Snow Leopard DVD won't boot. I've tried resetting my SMC, but still the same.
What do I do now? Am I now in possession of a large chunk of newly bought scrap metal?

Great. No change on trying to use Windows partition, Windows install DVD, "EPI" mode (all three resulting in that very primitive Windows diagnosis tool that can't diagnose or fix anything!), *OR* Snow Leopard partition (freezing on white booting background). And when I now try booting from my Snow Leopard install DVD, the error I'm getting now is "Missing operating system"!
*HELP!* How do I reset my Mac Pro to factory settings now, like it was two days ago? All I had to do back then was wait until the white boot-up background came up, then insert my Snow Leopard install DVD, and all was fine!

  • Mac Pro Early 2008 not booting

    Hey guys!
I walked into a problem with a Mac Pro early 2008 model.
I got this Mac Pro from somebody since it wasn't working anymore. I was told there could be a graphic card (Nvidia) issue which I think should at least be correct but I am also having trouble with loading EFI. The following things happen:
When I turn on the mac using a DVI to VGA adapter i have no screen at all. (I don't have any other options atm)
    There is no HD inserted.
PRAM and SMC reset won't do anything, i'm not even sure it reads keyboard commands.
The fans all work even the one on the GPU.
    Front LED just burns steady.
No lights on my USB (non Apple) Keyboard turn on.
The lights of the mouse just flashes on start up.
RAM LEDS light up on startup.
Motherboard reset button doesn't make anything change.
When I Press the button for the diag LED's, the Trickle Power and the Good Power led come on, the GPU LED stays off. The EFI LED is off aswel.
No RAM errors show up. Tried switching RAM and disconnecting RAM and GPU.
No startup chime what so ever.
I figured there could be something wrong with the EFI firmware (or logic board is just broken). I am trying to restore the firmware with a firmware restoration cd, but I can't get the cd tray to open. I pressed the on button and kept pressing it for a long time. All it does is makes my status LED flash a couple of times real fast, but then it goes back to normal state. No cd tray is opening and its not flashing 3 times fast, 3 time slow, 3 times fast as it probely should be doing.
You guys have any idea what to try next or how to restore the firmware?
    Thanks in advance.

there's a boot code to run with the older machines
    Pike wrote this code
Using this code will get you around the efi/boot issue and move on to OS 10.10.02
Installing Yosemite just prior to entering the efi/boot, then restart twice.
You'll need to research Pike's code, but your 2006 to 2008 machines are long ways from trash.
I'm upgrading my 2006 to 8 cores, Yosemite and 32 gig of ram.
Long live these early Mac Pros
