MacLockPick device by Subrosasoft access to your passwords through Keychain
So is this a hole in OSX security if this device can unlock and gain access to all of your passwords including your iPod, email, iChat and root passwords through keychain?
This worries me and I want to know if by locking the keychain it would prevent such a device from being able to gain access to all of my password information? Why you ask? Because some yahoo will eventually get access to this kind of device and reverse engineer it for evil that's why.
This also gives a hint to the hacker community on how they may attack OSX as well. (Good going Subrosasoft)
So is keychain a weak point or if it is locked is all of this mute?
The following is a list of file items that can be extracted using SubRosaSoft’s MacLockPick:
Apple Keychain Passwords
• System - The user password of the logged in user. Often this is shared for root access and FileVault encryption.
• General - Includes (but is not limited to) passwords for encrypted disk images, wifi base stations, iTunes music store, iChat login, Apple Remote Desktop.
• Internet - Includes (but is not limited to) login and password details for web sites, email accounts, some peer to peer networks, online services and stores, auction sites, and .mac accounts.
• AppleShare - A list of login and password details for appleshare servers this mac has connected to.
Files and Folder details
• Folder Dates - A list of all the key user folders along with their creation date, date of last modification, date of first access, and date of the most recent access.
• Disk Images - Paths to the most recent disk images that have been mounted on this mac.
• Preview - Full paths to recent files that have been viewed in the preview program.
• QuickTime - File names for recently viewed movies fro the QuickTime player applications
• Recent Applications, Documents, and Servers - Program names for the most recently used items on this Macintosh computer.
Instant Messaging
• Default Login - for iChat instant messenger system.
• Complete buddy list - including buddies who have since been deleted.
eMail
• Account Details - login names and server addresses used.
• Address Book - Address details for entries in the address book including contacts that have been deleted. This address book is used by most communication programs on the Mac and is used to synchronize with the iPod and other portable devices.
• Opened Attachments - Paths to files that have been received as an attachment then saved or opened including the date and time of opening.
Web History and Preferences
• Search Strings - The most recent items that the user has searched for using the google toolbar in safari.
• Cached Bookmarks - Sites that have been bookmarked in Safari including items that have been deleted.
• Current Bookmarks - Sites that are currently bookmarked in Safari.
• Cookies - A full list of cookies include the server address the cookie value and the date and time of assignment.
• History - Complete details of browsing history including the number of times visited and the date and time of the most recent visit.
Hardware Preferences
• iPod - Serial numbers of any iPod that have been connected to this Mac along with the date and time it was first used.
• Bluetooth Devices - hardware address of any bluetooth devices that have been paired with this mac along with the most recent time these devices have been paired.
• Wifi Connections - Listings for wifi base stations that have been used on this computer including the base address and the date and time of the first connection.

When trying to launch iTunes on my PC running Windows 7 it freezes and I get the message: "Authentication Required. To access this site you need to log in to area "100656 on mellor.co. Your password will be sent in the clear." Because iTunes is frizen at this point I am unable to enter a username or password, or in fact do anything. Please help!! I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes numerous times as well as attempting all of the fixes that I could find on-line and still no joy.
That sounds extremely phishy to me... iTunes does not require authentication simply to launch it. I suspect you've got something nasty intercepting network traffic. That server may be set up to log the Apple ID that you enter so it can be used fraudulently. Try ComboFix from Bleeping Computer.
FWIW the domain mellor.co is registered to an accountants in Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, and produces the same authentication request if visited with a browser. There is no sign of a "real" publicly visible website at that domain which is a somewhat odd.

How do you get your passwords on itunes if your device is disabled?
How do you get your password for your device on itunes?
If you mean passcode, you can't get it from iTunes. You have to follow one of the solutions listed at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.

I am trying to restore access to another Apple ID via the ‘Forgot your password’ link. I enter the e-mail address as an apple ID and click ‘Next’. This offers 2 options:
1) Email authentication: To access your information, we will send an email to the address(es) on file for you.
2) Answer security questions: To access your information, you will need to answer the security question(s) provided when you originally created your Apple ID.
Selecting the first option, the message ‘Email has been sent’ is displayed. However, no email is ever received at the address entered. I have tried this numerous times.
Selecting the second option offers the prompt ‘Please verify your birth date to continue.’ I enter the date of birth and am presented with the message ‘The authentication information provided does not match our records. Please verify your personal information and try again’.
Catch 22 - can anyone help me, as this seems an impossible situation for me to rectify?I had a similar problem. I had to call Apple support via phone and ask what apple ids my email was associated with. He was able to give me the email server it was associated with (ex: yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc) and that sparked off the memory I needed to recall that ancient and unused apple id. Then I had to recover the password, log in to that old id and change the primary email address.
As for no verification email sent, there is a major lag between changing your settings and them actually changing in Apple's system. I don't know why this is. I couldn't delete a secondary email no matter what I tried. Then 4 hours later, it finally let me do it.
hope this helped a litte, good luck! -
I tried to access my books on the IPad Mini through the Kindle app. The message reads "Please remove the books from your device and redownload them from your Cloud items if possible. If the problem persists, try to deregister your applications and register it again."
When the Kindle app was updated - none of my books showed up on my iPad. Here is what I did and I did it all on the iPad.
Go to amazon.com
Sign into your account
Tap on - Your Account - in the upper right corner
Tap on Manage your Kindle - next to the Digital Content section on the left side.
Find your books in the next window
Tap on the Actions Icon next to the book title
Tap on deliver to - select your iPad
Go back to your Kindle app and see if it downloads -
Hi everyone,
it's probably just me but I have tried real hard to get a simple AnyConnect setup working in a lab environment on my ASA 5505 at home, without luck. When I connect with the AnyConnect client I get the error message "User not authorized for AnyConnect Client access, contact your administrator". I have searched for this error and tried some of the few solutions out there, but to no avail. I also updated the ASA from 8.4.4(1) to 9.1(1) and ASDM from 6.4(9) to 7.1(1) but still the same problem. The setup of the ASA is straight forward, directly connected to the Internet with a 10.0.1.0 / 24 subnet on the inside and an address pool of 10.0.2.0 / 24 to assign to the VPN clients. Please note that due to ISP restrictions, I'm using port 44455 instead of 443. I had AnyConnect working with the SSL portal, but IKEv2 IPsec is giving me a headache. I have stripped down certificate authentication which I had running before just to eliminate this as a potential cause of the issue. When running debugging, I do not get any error messages - the handshake completes successfully and the local authentication works fine as well.
Please find the current config and debugging output below. I appreciate any pointers as to what might be wrong here.

If you enter your password on the ipad too many times and your sim card locks, is there a way of recovery without replacing the sim card?
That doesn't lock the SIM card, it just locks you out of the device.
If you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.
See this for more info... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 -
One device has Internet access through MHS291L, the other doesn't.
I have a MacBook Pro which is connected to my MHS291L by Wi-Fi, and it works great. I also have a Windows Vista PC connected using a Wi-Fi adapter, and it does not have Internet access. I got the Wi-Fi adapter about a week ago, and it was working for a while, but it has stopped. The Vista PC shows that it is connected to the Jetpack, in the list of wireless networks, but my browser is informing that I am not connected when I try to visit any website.
I thought it might be because both computers were using the same IP address, so I renewed the IP address on the Mac. No change. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting from the network on the Vista computer, but that didn't help, either.
What might the problem be? Thank you.If your Vista PC is not receiving internet but the MacBook is then that means there is probably an issue with the WiFi adapter on the Vista PC. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling it from the Device Manager. This should refresh the hardware and driver connections and allow you to better communicate with the Jetpack. Make sure you have your wireless password entered correctly and that you have a valid IP address (192.168.1.xxx).
A reset of the Jetpack may also be helpful here incase the Jetpack is suffering from a temporary problem. There should be a reset button somewhere on the device that will restore it back to defaults for you. Any time you perform a reset I suggest taking a moment to setup a custom wireless password. I'd suggest creating your own password according to strong password security best practices that takes at least a few years to crack.
Strong Passwords:

My computer continually asks me to enter my password for Keychain access. This problem is continuos and I am having trouble with eliminating it.
I have changed my password through Security and my Accounts numerous times to no avail.
Is there anything I can do other than Resetting the entire computer and re installing all of the software, apps, etc.etc.Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ First Aid
There are four checkboxes in the window that opens. Check all of them. if they're not already checked. Close the window.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.
If you use iCloud Keychain, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device. -
Things were going well. Mail was working fine and then the following error message appears out of nowhere. I had not changed any settings. From that point on all efforts to send mail failed, and the error message appeared even thought I used the password to log back in after I quit. Now, an hour after the problem started it takes my password (on the second try after the error message appears) once and sends a test message. Then, one minute later it gives the error message again and refuses to send anything. Why is mail so inconsistent? What can I do in the future to address the problem?
Error message reads "The SMTP server "xxxxx" rejected the password for user "xxx" Please re-enter your password or cancel.
When mail does work again. Should I click the remember this password in keychain or am I just asking for more trouble?
I'm writing this using my IMac computer in a different room. The error also occurs on my powerbook running my new MacBook Pro 12 inch.
Fed up Mac user.I"m no expert but this used to happen to me all the time (stop downloading, asking for my password, nothing downloading, walking away- 24 hours or more later, all is fine, only to later start all over again)
Well, i gave up for a long time and stopped using that account with mac mail and only accessed it online..recently went and changed the pop3 to only pop and now it works beautifully and seamlessly. Don't ask me why or how, but it does so thought I'd share. -
Please help!
It would be tremendously helpful to be able to access, set restrictions, and make changes from the parents device, to all devices under the same iTunes account, so that I could make changes to my kids devices without physical access.
I understand that I can set up a different Apple ID for the kids devices, or take physical control of the device and make the changes myself. However, my teenage son is technically savvy enough to have a job in Silicon Valley, as are most young people these days. However, in order to access his devices the current way, I first have to bypass the four digit pass code. This starts a fight of why I need in the device and continues to escalate. The argument that I am the parent will gain access but the fight is simply exhausting, and quite frankly shouldn't have to happen at all. He is not yet an adult, he did not pay for his iPad or iPhone and I, as a parent, should have not only have the right to change options at will, and from anywhere, but look at history or current activity when I feel like it.
I currently have the settings where app and in-app purchases require my password to be put in, and he must come to me to type it in, but I need more control and would like, and should be able to access any of our six devices and make individual changes simply by logging in to my account, with my password.
If I can see all my devices on the "Lost My iPhone" app, this technology should be easy to make happen.
C'mon parents! I have a pretty good kid, given all things that they can get into, but I am not stupid. For everything I see has been done, there is much more I haven't seen. I want my children to be kept safe and be able to know what they are looking at or listening to. We parents are the only ones who know our beliefs and what our kids can handle and when.
Thanks for any support or information that I may be missing in order to fulfill my request. There are mobile device management solutions that can do this, including in Apple's OS X Server system, but most parents generally find that setting this up is more work than it's worth. If you're interested, though, there are a couple that at least purport to be free (I don't know if there are any hidden "gotchas"):
http://www.unwireddevicelink.com/features/
https://meraki.cisco.com/products/systems-manager
and Apple's system:
http://www.apple.com/osx/server/features/#profile-manager
I don't think any, however, allow you to see current activity or browser history. iOS doesn't expose those to access from MDM solutions, to the best of my knowledge.

I have old email address's I used for iTune music purchases and cannot change password on several old accounts. Now some of the music I purchased I can not download and authorize it on my device. What can I do password security does not match my birthdate on two of the accounts. Apple can not send me email with a password authorization on several current accounts that I have with them. How can I contact Apple with this annoying problem I can not fix.
settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
You can't merge apple id. -
I have accessed the Apple Support site http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627 but I could not find the "Manage Devices" link on iTunes. The advice they give is as follows:
You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer:
Open iTunes.
Sign in to your Apple ID by choosing Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
Choose Store > View My Account from the iTunes menu.
From the Account Information screen, click Manage Devices.
Next to each device or computer name, you will be able to see when each was associated to your Apple ID. You will also be able to track how many days are remaining before your associated devices or computers can be associated to a different Apple ID.
Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!Hello from Albania,

I can't seem to get my iPod touch (4th Gen) to play photo slideshows or videos through my TV. Is this a design flaw? Or is it me? My old iPod used to do it no problem, but now I can't even find any video out options in the settings.
