Macpro will not go to sleep, just by relocation macpro?

I have a 12core 5,1macpro with mavericks.
Sleep always worked fine untill I moved my macpro to another location in my house.
All connections are the same, no new deviced.
The macpro will not go into sleepmode, the screen goes dark but the computer is still awake.
I tried SMC and Pram, both did nothing. I typed 'wake reason' in console with zero hits.
Any ideas?

I did a 'pmset -g log' in terminal.

  • The effects and adjustment will not work. I just bought a MacPro and had everything moved from my old laptop.

quick fixes won't work either and there is nothing in the levels file - no histogram. my photos are in raw. I tried deleting the IPhoto plist file and restart but no luck.

Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new library.  Import a couple of photos and see if you can edit theme there.  If not I suspect a reinstall of iPhoto might be necessary.  To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,

  • LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw will not go to sleep

I just bought a LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw. Through the LCD Control Panel I set it up to go to sleep after 5 minutes. It will not go to sleep, the LCD panel is always on.  I did the following from the LCD panel: Setup Menu >>System Setup >> Energy Settings >> Sleep/Auto Off after >> 5 Minutes Printer is connected via wireless. I'm using this printer on a Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) and have installed the latest driver software from HP Support website. Anyone has noticed this problem and is there a solution to it?  Thanks.

Hi tuanomsoc, I hope you had a good weekend!
The printer has a built-in surge protector, so by plugging into a surge protector or a power bar, it can cause power drains that affect the functionality.  I would recommend the post below by , who has provided a helpful write-up on this exact question: Power Supply Related Issues Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Computer will not go to sleep

I just installed Snow Leopard, upgrading from Leopard. Everything seems to be working fine, except that my computer will not go into sleep mode. Please help.

This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
Here is Apple's KB article HT1776 with their tips.
    Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to receive faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Receive Faxes On This Computer box.
If that doesn't work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.
Some have resolved sleep issue by downloading the 10.6.6 Combo update, from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse,Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try
    USER TIPS……..
Check in System Preferences > Energy Saver is "Wake for network access" checked? If so, uncheck it.
One user reported, " I couldn't make my macbook pro to go to sleep because I had my wireless headphone receiver still plugged in. I unplugged it and then it went to sleep."
Also, if you have an External Western Digital (WD) hard drive and have installed
WDDMService and WDSmartWareD on your Mac, it may not sleep. Fix is to un-install those....you don't need them to use the drive.
"I have had this problem with my IMac G5. It is surprisingly irritating. LaCie's Silverkeeper backup software was the cause. By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"
One provided this link, xlr8yourmac.com, to a member, which addresses failure of deep sleep with some users that updated and added new FireWire and USB card.
Also, here is Apple KB article TA2469 about PCI cards and sleep.
After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
"I have a Canon printer(shared) and my imac would not sleep. I opened up printer/fax in system prefs and noticed it said the printer was in use when it was off. Opened up the printer queue and noticed about 7 pending documents. Deleted them all and now it sleeps.
    Check the printer queue!"
One user has had success, after trying all these tips, using an App. called PleaseSleep. I've never used it though.
    Good Luck!  DALE

  • IBook G4 will not go to sleep

    Hello Everyone,
This is a problem I've been having for about a year but now I'm finally trying to fix it. My iBook G4 will not go to sleep. It doesn't matter what method of putting it to sleep I use. Using software to select sleep, or the power button and clicking on sleep don't do anything. Closing the lid just turns off the screen, but then the computer doesn't have power if I open it much later and is still running if I open it quickly.
After trying to put the computer to sleep, it takes several minutes to turn off, so I'm guessing something is screwed up as a result of trying to make it sleep. Additionally, although possibly not related, sometimes if just left on but unused, it will lock up so that it doesn't respond to anything (no keyboard inputs and the screen is dark) but the power is still on (caps lock light will turn on and off).
Here is what I have tried to fix the problem so far:
    Reset PMU
    Reset PRAM/NVRAM
Ran techtool deluxe - says everything is OK
tried without additional memory (which came with the ibook) - didn't help
tried without airport extreme card (which came with the ibook) - didn't help
tried booting in safe mode - didn't help
tried putting it to sleep when logged out - didn't help
i tried to run the diagnostic cd that came with the ibook, but it gave me error messages (both with and without extra memory)
    Invalid memory access at %SRR0:00cadcbc
    %SRR1:00003030
and had a flashing file folder with mac symbol and a "?"
i reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled 10.4.11 (through CD and software update) - didn't help
Does anyone have any thoughts on what else I can try to figure out the problem? The only thing I have thought of is that maybe one of the updates might be the problem, since when I got the ibook it worked wonderfully. (Sadly, when reinstalling I didn't think to check if it would sleep after each update).
Is there a way (other than safe mode) to find out if it is a 3rd party software problem or an OS problem?
Is there any way I can get the mac diagnostic CD to work so maybe that could tell me something?
Should I just stop calling it a laptop and use it as a desktop where sleeping isn't as important?
Thanks for any help you can give!!!

Hey Spherical (cool name but weird),
Now realized that I don't know the CPU speed and size of your iBook but it probably doesn't matter since they're all pretty much the same but then again....
Here's something from that post that I referenced:
    It's official designation is PMU99.
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/DeveloperNotes/Macintosh_CPUs-G4/12inchPowerBookG4/2_Architecture/chapter_3_section4.html
    "Power Control IC
The power manager IC in the 12-inch PowerBook G4 is a Mitsubishi M16C/62F microprocessor, also called the PMU99. It operates with its own RAM and ROM. The functions of the PMU99 include:
*controlling the sleep and power on and off sequences
    *real time clock
*controlling power to the other ICs
    *monitoring the battery charge level
    *controlling battery charging
*supporting the interface to the built-in keyboard ( and also the trackpad )
The PMU99 also provides the hardware interface to the keyboard. Software in the PMU99 IC scans the keyboard, then sends the data to the system in packets like those from the ADB. To the system, the keyboard behaves as if they were ADB devices"
So try detaching the keyboard and trackpad from the logic board. Be careful doing this. Email me for instructions. Be especially careful with the trackpad flex as it's real easy to mess up that socket. While you're doing that inspect the connectors/sockets for any evidence of liquid spills .

  • HT201210 My phone is telling me to restore it as it will not come on and just shows a plug into itunes sign...however there is an error restoring it. HELP?!

My phone is telling me to restore it as it will not come on and just shows a plug into itunes sign...however there is an error restoring it. HELP?!

    You might try:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • My ipad will not charge up. it just shows the red battery signal and then switches off

my ipad will not charge up. it just shows the red battery signal and then switches off. The same charger succesfully charges other idas so i know it is no the charger that is faulty.Any suggestions

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Will not wake from sleep mode

When I close then open the lid on my MacBook, it will not wake up from sleep mode.  I have to reboot by holding down the power button for 10 sec.  When it restarts, it takes a long time to get past the gray screen with the apple logo.  I also have this same problem when it goes into sleep mode, when left idle.  I have since changed the settings so it will not go into sleep mode when idle in system preferences.  I have reset PRAM and SMC, but the problem still persists.

I have the same problem, intermittently.  I think it has something to do with full-screen mode, which I use intermittently.  Have you noticed this happening only when you are in a full-screen app?
I also have a MacBook Pro from 2011, and I know for sure my MagSafe power adapter is fine and not part of the problem.
I have noticed a few things that may be hints at what is happening:
one time, (all??) while my screen was basking in the glow of sunlight from the side, I saw that the screen pixels were indeed "on", that the back-light of the screen was just off.
Which led me to the conclusion that my MacBook Pro was indeed waking from sleep, the screen was just not lighting up.
But that theory was disproved this morning, when when waking from sleep, the screen was black, except for my cursor. My cursor was completely visible on a black background.  Huh??  It was like some software was putting up a black modal dialog over the whole screen. Also, the Apple Logo on the back of the laptop screen was fully lit -- meaning the backlight was on.  The machine was awake (curson moving on a black background), and the screen was fully back-lit.
I'm not sure yet how consistent this behavior is...  I will take more careful notes each time this problem happens in the future...  But, it looks like I have rogue software that is trying to make my machine look like it is sleeping.
To "capture" the culprit I think I could set up a hot-key command that takes a snapshot of all running processes in Activity Monitor. This could show what processes are running when "waking" from sleep. nabbing the culprit?
I use Snapz Pro. That is non-standard software running with control over screen functions. Maybe Snapz Pro has a problem?  I doubt it, but maybe, because it has hooks into background tasks with video. Snapz Pro is my only 32-bit process. Could Snapz Pro be the cause?  I use Snapz Pro all the time.
The problem seems to be related to Full-Screen mode.  Could it be possible that full-screen apps sometimes have problems returning from sleep?  I know there are viewControllers responsible for handling events when waking. Could the symptoms of not waking from sleep be caused by bugs in full-screen apps?

Angry Birds Friends on Facebook will not load in Firefox, just white screen. Will load using Chrome, etc? Checked for malware, cleared cache, re-installed Firefox, disabled add ons, enabled java, updated flash and shockwave, etc.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Hi - looking forward to your help!
My Macbook Pro simply will not go to sleep - not by shutting the lid or pressing the sleep button in the Apple dropdown.

The poor thing is getting really tired and bad tempered, so your help will be appreciated!
    Many thanks!

Some have resolved sleep issue by downloading the Combo update, from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update  disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse,Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try
Also, if you have an External Western Digital (WD) hard drive and have installed  WDDMService and WDSmartWareD on your Mac, it may not sleep.
    Good Luck! 

  • My macbook pro 2.0 early 2011 will not go to sleep with the power source connected. only enters sleep mode when running on battery. Someone did this happen, and it could solve?

Alo, my Macbook pro i7 2 GHz Intel Core i7 (early 2011) will not go to sleep with the power source connected. only enters sleep mode when running on battery. Someone did this happen, and it could solve?

There is no output from that command line?   Maybe the pid changed.
I'll repeat what I am trying to find out...
    1. You do a pmset -g on the terminal.
    2. The output from that pmset should have a line that says "sleep 0 (imposed by n)" where n is some number.
    3. The ps ax | grep n is supposed to display what the process associated with n is.
It's the output from step 3 that should indicate what is causing you not to sleep.
But speaking of sleep, that's where I am going.

  • 2007 macbook pro will not go to sleep...

Whether i close the lid or use the command it will not go to sleep. If i close the lid the little white light in front goes on bright and stays. If i use the command the white light goes on dim & stays that way. I've tried resetting the SMU (?) by removing the battery and holding the power button down for 5 sec, but no luck.
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

    OK.
Right side of your original post under More Like This,  there is an answered question marked with a green
Check mark. Check it out . It is about Mac not sleeping when charger attached.
It is about file sharing being on.
    Best.
