Unable to get filename from mail to XI to file scenario
Hi
How could i get the name of an attachment to be used as the file name on my File Adapter in a Mail to file scenario?
I recieve the files as attachments and I have used the payload swap bean to swap my actaull message content to attachment. That works perfect, the contents of the file are saved successfully on my file system. The file is sent as a plain text file and not xml and no mapping is done, I just get the files from the mail and save them into a file server for further processing.
Your help will be highly appreciated
RonnyHi
I have installed my Module, but when I try to call it from within the adapters I get an error

I have searched all the logs and the module is active. I even restarted my J2EE engine, twice but still nothing..

Receiver Determination Problem In Mail to File Scenario.
Hi All,
I am trying to do Mail to File Scenario. I defined two business systems, one s/w component in SLD and in IR I defined a DataType , MessageType and Two MessageInterfaces. In ID these are mail adapter settings I gave :-
Message Protocol :- POP3
Message Protocol :- XIPAYLOAD
MAIL ATTRIBUTES -- Enabled checkbox for "Use Mail Package"
Content Encoding - "base64"
Enabled checkbox for "Keep Attachments"
DEFAULT XI PARAMTERS --
Default Interface Namespace -- http://mtf
Default Interface Name -- mtf_mi1
And in Modules Tab I also defined the "PayloadSwapBean" module and swap.keyName and swap.keyValue.
Infact I followed all the steps specified in /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/12/18/xi-sender-mail-adapter--payloadswapbean--step-by-step
But in SXMB_MONI this is the error I am getting :-

File to mail adapter scenario.
Hi All,
i have a file to mail adapter scenario.
here i get the data from tthe different vendors and what ever comes in should be validated and if needed sent as an attachment or detached from the message and then from receiver mail adpter to application server..if possible content conversion has to be done.
my questions are...
<b>1.whare should we validate the data..is it in the XI server or receiver mail adapter..
if so..how to do that validation
2.how can we send as attachments ..
3.how can we detach them..i.e if attachments are not required 4.if content conversion conversion has to be done where is that done..
4.after coming out of the receiver adapter....how can we send it to the appliocation server.</b>
Thanks in advance..

Not sure if i follow the entire question.
><i>here i get the data from tthe different vendors and what ever comes in should be validated</i>
I guess you are getting files using the file adapter.
><i>and if needed sent as an attachment or detached from the message and then from receiver mail adpter to application server..if possible content conversion has to be done.</i>
Not sure I follow this part. You validate your incoming file and what do you do
1. If the file is valid?
2. If the file is invalid?
are you sending mails in both cases.
Like pinted out there are multiple places where validations can be done,
1. Module --> https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f013e82c-e56e-2910-c3ae-c602a67b918e
2. Mapping --> Graphical / Java
There are many options and they all depend on the incomuing payload and the entire process.
So , if you can give us more details, maybe an optimum solution can be discusses.

MAIL TO FILE SCENARIO--3 MAILINBOX configured in the same Outlook
Hi All,
I have a below requirement :
A vendor is sending an e-mail with attached an invoice (PDF, TIF, etc) to a common Outlook (But can have several mailboxes: eg abc@xxx. com ; xyz@xxx .com)
When a new email arrives in these inboxes (Note : Same Outlook Server ), XI needs to pick up the attachment of the unread mails and place it in the network folder.
I did go through this SDN Link (Mail to File Scenario ) : http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/StepbyStepMailToFileScenario , but have few queries:
- Mail Sender CC should be configured as IMAP4 to read the unread mail , pick up the attachment and place it in network folder.
-Here , how do we configure for several inboxes of same Outlook..?
-Secondarly i believe , mapping is not required in this case as xi just picks up the attachment and place in File location.
Could you please me any info that meets this requirement .
Thanks,
VaraHere , how do we configure for several inboxes of same Outlook..?
Configure as many sender mail channels as the number of mailboxes.....each pointing to a different mailbox. -

Mail Adapter Scenario ----- Need help
Hi All
Again with same mail adapter scenarios .
I am trying to send my e-mail on Microsoft Exchange server to a FTP server .
So flow is like Mail system->XI-> File system.
While configuring sender mail adapter , i gave the following URL imap://S4DE8PSAANH.ibm.com/InBox as i am using IMAp4 as the protocol.
Now i have set of doubts and questions for which i need input from you all
a>I am still seeing my sender communication channel with green light (running ), its not picking up any new mail i came to my inbox. Any reasons why it did not pick up ?
b> Now to set up Receiver Determination and Interface Determination , i need to have inbound interface created, but here when my requirenent is just to send a e-mail content as XML to fle system , what interface should i use or how should i create a interface with interface mapping or message mapping ?
c>Any idea whether just configuring a sender mail adapter with certain poll interval will result in a XML message that can be seen in SXMB_MONI txn ? Or do i need to fullly set up my receiver system and complete whole configuration of the entire flow.
My intent is just to get a simple mail body into XI , how do i achieve it ?
I gave URL as imap://S4DE8PSAANH.ibm.com/InBox , still i did not get any XML message in SXMB_MONI txn ..or should i give IP address of my exchange server instead of S4DE8PSAANH.ibm.com ? ...
Can we see a XML message if only a sender communication channel is set up with no receiver ? .. I am just wondering why new mail in my inbox is not getting picked up into XI.
Thanks a lot to all who helped to me earlier , i guess i rewarded points to all those who guided me : -) and will do same again as promised.
Please help .
Thanks and Regards
rohanHi Rohan -
Here's what I can tell you:
- if the hostname is wrong, you'll get a 'UnknownHostException'.
- if the path (e.g. Inbox) is wrong or doesn't exist, you'll get a 'IOException... The requested item could not be found'.
- if you don't configure user authentication, you'll get a 'NullPointerException'.
This is all within Adapter Monitor - so since your mail CC status is green, we can only assume that your mail host is valid, your path is valid, and your user id/pwd is valid.
One thing to try, since 'Inbox' is common to any mailbox, try creating a new folder at the Inbox level (e.g. called 'Test1') and specify the URL as:
imap://S4DE8PSAANH.ibm.com/Test1
and see if your CC status is still green in the Adapter Monitor (make sure to look at the ID Cache Notifications and the timestamp in the adapter monitor).
Outside of this, SP9 is relatively old. You should patch your XI system as soon as you get a chance - with or without this problem.

Hi
I require some input on including a mail adapter to an existing scenario
The scenarios is as follows,
I have to create some files around 20 and place them in two folders , that build has been done and tested , so I have a multi mapping , for those 20 files , and enhanced interface determination and is working fine
Now a new requirement is to send an email ,
kindly tell me the steps in IR and ID to include the mail adapter in this interface ??
considering it as an additional feature, nthing to do with Files ,,,
which means that an email adapter has to be called with the file adapters ( not before not after....the precedence doesnt matter )
its just that along with creating the files an email has to be sent ... thats all
I want to know what am i required to create :
in IR : is there a separate interface required .. smthing to do in mapping also ? i am presuming not since it is inbound
in ID : can i create a dummy busines service and what all do i need to create ???
please help
thanks
DevHi,
You create a message type for mail adapter and an message interface. You can also use the predefined message type from sap. So now in multimapping you add this message type and map from your source to this mail mapping. Add the same message interface in interface mapping.
Create a mail receiver communicaiton channel with your mailbox parameters. Then add this to your receiver determination. Also you need to create a receiver agreement for this one.
You can see some help here:
/people/prasad.ulagappan2/blog/2005/06/07/mail-adapter-scenarios-150-sap-exchange-infrastructure
You can do a search for more blogs and tutorials on mail adapter.

Source of Flat File in a File scenario
Hey guys
i was just wondering wats the source of flat files which are used in File scenarios,i know it can come from anywhere but in a real world scenario, where do we usually get these files from(is it any server?)also if anyone of u has worked on any file scenario can u please tell me where exactly u were getting this file from.
all the scenarios i have worked with i waz just placing the files on FTP but i m pretty sure in a real world scenario, there should some central repository where all these flat files come from.
please tell me from ur real world experience where u were getting the file from.
you can e-mail me at [email protected]
thanx
ahmadHi,
The answer for this is , it depends . I mean it depends on the Project Requirements, Organization , Company Policy etc..
So some project may implement these file servers as a part of the SAP system itself.
But many are not .. Because as per security rules, etc, there will be separate FileServer outside the SAP Landscape , but will in the same system landscape. So XI/PI will communicate this directly via FTP connections . So this folder will act as a FileServer.
for a XI developer, generally these file location informations will be given. so you need to pick or drop the files over there
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Moorthy -
Do we need a sender channel for IDOC to file scenario.
Hi,
Do we need a sender channel in IDOC to FILE scenario.
Because IDOC is being sent by SAP R/3 System and when creating objects in ID using wizard, it doesn't ask for sender channel.
What is the reason for this?
Regards,
YounusYounus,
to add more...
From <b>WAS(Web Application Server) 6.20</b> and above BASIS is not the runtime for SAP.WAS is the runtime for SAP.
And it has got ABAP and JAVA engine in it.
It handles connections made over various protocols such as SMTP for mail, HTTP(S), and SOAP/XML.
<b>
The SAP Web AS 6.10 did not have a Java engine.</b>
and IDOC and HTTP are present on the ABAP engine and the rest reside on JAVA engine.
and that is the reason why IDOC and HTTP doesnt require Sender Adapter and Sender Aggrement aswell.
Hope i cleared ur point...
Cheers,

Hi all
We have configured the sender mail adapter to receive attachments (.txt or .csv) using the PayloadSwapBean. Our next step is to save the attachment to a file. We don't want to do any mapping, just save the file. Is it possible? How?
Waiting for a response
Regards
Salilhey
u have to do it like a File to File scenario, only difference u can download the standard mail package from marketplace and import tha as an XSD in IR and use that as sender MT.
then do message mapping and interface mapping, and in ID configure a sender Mail adapter and receiver File adapter.
infact u might be able to do this scenario withour any IR objects, have a look at the following
/people/william.li/blog/2006/09/08/how-to-send-any-data-even-binary-through-xi-without-using-the-integration-repository
u just need to do mail to file instead of File to file.
i frankly never tried without IR but i dont see any reason why u should not be able to achieve this without IR
try it and let ur know if u hit any roadblocks
thanx
