Mail merge functionality

Hi I am trying to import an Excel spreadsheet with highlighted columns I have assigned into a working PDF document with the fields assigned so that it pulls similar to a mail merge in Microsoft Word.
Your copy and paste ability on the FormCentral community form doesn't work? You might want to fix that as well. Back to my issue:
Here is the PDF with the fields I am using as an example:
Excel:
Can't find the FDF option under the 'Save As', tried XML, tried .TXT file save as, CSV, etc. Doesn't import correctly with TXT file as Adobe suggests. Please advise as to how to fix this issue.:

How does one go about saving as an FDF file that  Adobe suggests? I want to pull the info from the table fields I have created in Excel to show up or populate in the PDF form pretty much like a mail merge you can do with Microsoft. It pulls part of the fields for a TXT file if I save it as that, but, does only one of the people I have have assigned and not the others. For example, pulls Mary (FIRST_NAME table), but, doesn't pull LAST_NAME for my example if you reference the second image I have included in this inquiry. So it should pull 'Clark' for LAST_NAME, but doesn't. Also, only one page it populates using the import function for a .TXT file. I have three rows of content and only pulls the middle 'dummy' Mary information and it's not complete even though I assigned the text fields to be parallel. So, if the TXT functionality doesn't work, where or how do I go about saving as a FDF file since I don't have this option in EXCEL, but, that's what Adobe is "screaming" for. I don't need a workflow, just want to pull the fields from the table names I have setup in Excel.

    Is there a way of using a mail merge function while on the iphone or ipad, i wish to email a "Word style, ot TXT" document to 250 of my contacts, I have tried downloading my contacts to my PC's outlook but only 1 contact comes across at a time despite the fact that Icloud says downloading namedperson + 249 other contacts to a CSV file

    Hi everyone!
    Looking also for an app that allows me to merge email and send them out to each recipient individually. Apparently that's not possible yet. Here's what the guys at RedbitsApps told me about Group Email capabilities:
    "The current version of the app relies on the device operating system to send the emails. For this reason, sending individual email instead of a single email to multiple recipients is not possible. Apple doesn't allow apps to send single emails to many recipients easily. We may use a custom sending software in a future version."
    Let's keep looking guys...

  • Mail Merge Function in Adobe Professional 8?

    Hello,
      My company will soon be implementing an Electronic Document  Management System (EDMS).
    One of the major hurdles were facing is that the new system will not be  able to generate copies of documents with controlled sequential numbers.   Presently we use Mail Merge to implant the controlled copy numbers on our Word  documents (using excel as the data source).
    When we switch over to the new  system (EDMS), we would need to do the same thing but only on a PDF version of the  document. I've looked into the use of forms but don't think that's going to work as these are multiple page documents that need to have the same information on every page.
    After reading about forms I get the impression that you would have to do every page separately (as opposed to having a data source like excel and fields in the PDF to accept the data from the excel file).
    Is there any function in Professional 8 similar to Mail Merge in Word?
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
      I was thinking of a Mail Merge function in Adobe Professional 8 itself, in
    other words, performing a Mail Merge on a PDF document, as opposed to what I
    think you're suggesting which is to create the Mail Merged document in Word
    and then convert to PDF.  That wouldn't be a solution because these
    documents will be residing in an EDMS database (Electronic Document
    Management System which will hold both the Word and PDF version of a given
    document), which creates it's own headers and footers when printing from the
    system. There's no way to place a stamp at this point in the process because
    you're within the EDMS system, no way that is without an expensive plug-in
    or work around to the system, and with the way that Word doesn't always
    convert so neatly to PDF, and the need for this stamped document to be an
    exact rendition of the EDMS (printed) version, I would need another
    solution.
    My original solution was to print the PDF version of a document from the
    EDMS system, hence it will print with the appropriate EDMS Headers and
    Footers (which only get added inside of the EDMS printing process), take
    that print, scan it, and now with the scanned version (after setting up the
    fields where the merged data will go), merge it with a data source (excel)
    and print it out.  We would then have a document with a controlled copy
    number that has all the appropriate formatting of the EDMS version, plus of
    course a unique copy number stamped where we choose.
    Of course none of this will work unless Acrobat Professional 8 can do Mail
    Merge from within itself.  This is what I need to experiment with....any
    ideas?
    Thanks!

  • Mail Merge Function

    I miss the mail merge of Appleworks. A second program was designed for my job that relies on mail merge but I am fed up with Appleworks. Is there a function to merge documents that I am not seeing? I have three weeks to figure out if I want Pages or not but without the mail merge it won't happen.

    Hi,
    There's NO mailmerge type functionality in Pages as of version 1.0.2.
    However, a creative AppleScript wiz has managed to do something which is a workaround..
    ..So you could follow this link and try it :-

  • Mail merge like functionality

    Is there anyway to create a mail merge functionality in Apex. In the simplest form I need to create form letters, with variables that are populated such as, the variables are in upper case.
    Dear P1_CUSTOMER_NAME,
    We are contacting you about order P1_ORDER_NUMBER. blah blah blah.
    Please contact us at P1_ PHONE_NUMBER for questions.
    thanks
    Any ideas? I know I can build it via pl/sql program unit but that gets ugly
    :p1_text :='Dear '||P1_CUSTOMER_NAME||
    We are contacting you about order '||P1_ORDER_NUMBER||'. blah blah blah.
    Please contact us at '||P1_PHONE_NUMBER||' for questions.
    thanks'
    I'm trying to avoid that, some thing a user could take care of.
    I discovered I could do it if I populate the "source value or expression" field of an item, but that requires a programmer.
    Any other ideas?

    A (or shall I call you ABD?)
    There are four (4) options I can think of here..
    1) There was an article posted a while back on doing a mail merge with APEX and MS Wordpad (NOT Word). I have used it for demo purposes and it seems to work okay. Your document can NOT be larger than 64k (The limit of Oracle with BLOB variables I believe).
    2) Look at PL/PDF as a means to generate you document. Not the best solution, but it is cheap and would allow you to code this up in PL/SQL and generate a PDF for printing.
    3) Look at Oracle Reports to generate the documents. Not the friendliest report around, but it would do this..
    4) Look at BI Publisher (This is what I use for report generation in APEX). You can build the document in Word, and then load the required document into APEX and deliver a nice document in Word or PDF format..
    Let me know if you have more questions..
    Thank you,

  • Why do I receive "4.3.2 connection rate limit exceeded" error message using the mail merge extension and what can be done about it?

    I am using TB 31.3.0 with Mail Merge 3.9.1. I routinely send an email to 435 members of an volunteer emergency responders group that I coordinate. I do so using a .csv list with mail merge. While there were no problems in the past, more recently the mail merge function will hang after sending a varied number of messages successfully and I get the following error message:
    "An error occurred sending mail. The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 4.3.2 connection rate exceeded.."
    There is an "OK" button in the error message pop up that can be clicked to resume the mail merge process. It would appear that if I click the "OK" button immediately whenever the error message is received I must do so frequently and some members do not receive their email. If I delay clicking the "OK" button, I found that I only needed to click the "OK" button twice to send to all the members.
    An on line search suggests this is the result of some sort of throttling by my ISP, Sonic.net. There is also this comment: "If you are receiving this error, you are likely using mailing list software which cannot decipher the temporary fail codes. If so, you will need to set your software to slow down its delivery rate and/or reduce the number of active connections per remote host."
    I am not super technical. Is it realistic to think that I can tweak mail merge to that I do not have to babysit my email to this group?

    then I suggest you send using a mail provider that is not actively trying to block your outgoing mail. Or use a yahoo / google groups mailing list feature so you only send a single mail.
    Or use a free account from the likes of http://www.ymlp.com/ who limit free account mailing lists to 1000 subscribers. ( Googled them this morning)

  • Is there a mail-merge type feature?

    We have a form that was created using Designer 7.0 and we have collected the transmitted XML data into a database. We'd like to push the data from the database back into the form, similar to the way you'd do a Mail Merge function with Microsoft Word. The end result should be a multi-page PDF (or many single PDF's) that we can print, where each page is filled in as if the user had done it.
    I know this kind of defeats the purpose of PDF, but we've found out that the physical forms need to be printed on paper so we can have people verify and sign.
    We also have Acrobat 7.0, and it is all running on XP SP3.

    Not as you are describing, but you can do a work around. Move your clips into imovie and create a continous movie.During the process add in chapter markers between your clips. Then share the project to idvd. You will get a play movie (to play the entire movie and a scene selection menu that will have your individual movies in it. You can then rename the play movie and scene selection buttons to whatever you want. Or, you can click on folder icon at the bottom of the screen and move the clips around.

  • Mail merge ('09) is giving spurious results

    I am trying to do what should have been a fairly simple mail merge function, but it is producing weird results.  I am doing date calculations in Numbers, and using that for producing a document with different date elements (all are in the spreadsheet).  The formulas are working correctly, and the cells contain the correct information, but when I do the mail merge, Pages picks up data from different cells.  I can even change the target cells, and it still picks up the same data.
    Here is a portion of the Numbers data.
    The first entry (B2) is entered as a date.  The rest are all calculated using date functions.  The pattern is: Date, Month Name, Day Date.  Then repeat for the next day, etc.
    And, here is what it produced, with the target cell name preceding the merged data.  The text in blue worked correctly.  Once I created a text box, and put merge fields inside it, though, it started falling apart.  As you can see, the data did not match the cell data associated with the column name.  I then tried using the same data outside of the text box, and it was again spurious.  It seems that using a text box messes it up.  What I am using this on is very graphically oriented, and I hate to think of the challenge of not using text boxes and lining up graphic elements with underlying text… ugh….
    After spending a full day on this simple project, I gave up and went to Word.  I exported my Numbers data as an Excel spreadsheet, and it merged beautifully on a test run.  So, I reformatted all my documents (with a lot of images, which is part of why I wanted to use Pages). After spending another day getting it laid out in Word, I did the final merge.  Success!  It looked beautiful.  I cut the documents to the size I needed, only to find out it had resized them!  Back to Pages, which I prefer.  I can't get past the spurious results.  I've tried reloading Pages and the documents, but it doesn't work.  I have a number of templates in Pages that I need to use for this function, and I hate to think of finding a different program and redoing all of them.
    I am using iWork 09.  My Pages is version 4.3, and my OS is 10.7.5.
    Any ideas?

    Oh, one other quirky thing happened.  In the text box I entered "mon1" for the starting date.  When I highlighted it, and added it as a Merge Field, it immediately changed the text to "mo1n".  I tried to correct it, but it changed it every time.  I have had that happen a number of times with other merge fields.  The "n" shows up after the date in the merged document, suggesting that the Merge Field was "mo1".  However, in my list of Merge Fields, it shows as "mon1".

  • Mail merge security

    I am creating PDF documents using the Mail Merge to Adobe PDF function in Word.
    Is there a way I can prevent recipients from altering the attached PDF file?

    Michael,
    Thanks for responding but I need to find a way (if any) to have the PDF files created as Secure so that they can't be altered an re-saved.
    BACKGROUND INFO:
    Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard
    Word 2003
    We are a training dept. and use the Mail Merge to PDF function to issue training certificates to students.
    The mail merge function works fine; however, the PDF files that are created are not secure.
    A recipient of the PDF can alter the student name using Advanced Editing in Acrobat and save the file with a different name. This is critical to us as we are in the field of Life Safety and there are potential legal issues if someone presents a falsified certificate as proof that they were factory trained.
    I would like to know if I can add Security to these files so that changes are not allowed.
    I have a password set up in PDFMaker but this doesn't seem to work with the Mail Merge to PDF function but it does work if I use Convert to Adobe PDF and Email. Both of these functions use PDFMaker as far as I know.

  • How to mail merge a document with in database?

    Dear All,
    I would like to know how to implement mail merge functionality in side pl/sql body. I could open, edit a document using the package ORDWord. Morethan, that anybody know, how to merge the documents ?

    Hi,
    There are tow ways :
    The first one is :
    - load the list of tables of the Database in a Vector for exemple by using methode DatabaseMetaData.getTables () and you can test if the table exist or not in the vector by using methode Vector.contains(Object o).
    The code seems Like that :
    // Loading List Of Tables
    // you need to load the list of tables at the begening of
    // your class
    Vector listOfTables = new Vector();
    try
    rs = yourConnection.getMetaData().getTables();
    while (rs.next())
    listOfTables.addElement(rs.getString(3));
    catch(SQLException exp)
    // When you need to test the existance of table name
    // you add this line
    if(listOfTables.contains(tableName))
    // your code
    The second one :
    try
    //execute your query
    catch
    //Create your default JTable
    I hope that my response can help you!

  • Is "mail merge" supported by Pages 5.5.2?

    I want to enter text in a Numbers spreadsheet and then "merge" it into a Pages text doc to create a customized form letter. I used to do this in MS Office using the "mail merge" function.  Does Pages 5.5.2 support this?

    Emily,
    Pages v5 (any version) does not provide built-in mail merge functionality. Apple's answer to this is that they provided AppleScript hooks that one can use to program their own mail merge functionality. That is a bit of a stretch for most Pages users. However, a downloadable mail merge solution for Pages v5 has been done for you via this recent post.

  • Mail-merging from Oracle HRMS - Web ADI vs BI Publisher

    Hi
    I'm currently involved in a project to automate the production of candidate offer letters and contracts from HRMS for our shared HR service centre. The solution I've built to date uses custom database tables and PL/SQL to select the relevant text for the candidate based on a set of criteria, and views to supply the necessary data to Web ADI which then performs the actual merge into a template Microsoft Word document on demand from the end-user.
    The issue we're facing is that the Web ADI to Word interface can't handle more than 64 merge fields (Word basically throws up an error saying the maximum number of fields has been exceeded) so I'm looking at alternatives which will still provide the same (or nearly the same) functionality in terms of mail-merging. From the looks of things it seems like BI Publisher could be a potential alternative; I do however have a few questions which I hope someone can answer!
    1) How easily can BI Publisher be integrated with HRMS to provide such mail-merge functionality on demand? How would such integration be achieved e.g. concurrent program, button on the toolbar in HRMS?
    2) How many merge fields can BI Publisher handle? Our largest letter has nearly 100 unique fields, a number which could go up or down over time.
    3) I understand from looking at some of the tutorials and demos that an RTF template could be used as the basis for the mail merge - where would this be stored, on the database or the file system?
    4) Are there any case studies out there which cover such an implementation of BI Publisher? This would be really useful as it would help in formulating a recommendation to my project manager!
    Many thanks

    Well, glad you got soemthing. Now I try to be more "properly" for you :)
    Good that you are trying.
    The LDAP users do not show up in my Web Logic console. Is a functionality available to allocate the LDAP users to Oracle user groups in web logic or do I expect too much?LDAP = what in your case, do you mean Active Directory .? or any other LDAP directory .?
    You need to configure that in weblogic as one of the authentication providers if you have not done so yet, otherwise they cannot magically appear in WLS console.
    So I am assuming you are expecting too much if you have not configured and trying to look for LDAP users. Let us know if you have already configured one but having trouble managing these users.
    If the functionality (allocating LDAP users to groups) exists in the oracle web logic console,Even though you configure LDAP users in WLS , you cannot assign LDAP users to LDAP groups in WLS since you have to do that in your LDAP not in WLS.
    why does this functionality also in the Oracle BI Publisher Admin screen?Oracle BI Publisher security is managed by Fusion middleware security model not Weblogic , so to get the LDAP users to BIP you need to integrate OBIEE security to BI Publisher.
    Hope this helps. ! Mark if it does.

  • AppleScript for mail merge with Excel data?

    Is there any approach for an AppleScript that lets you use Excel data as source for some kind of mail merge operations? If not, would anyone here be interested if someone (I?) would take a closer look at some kind of a (AppleScript Studio) solution for this?

    I'm not sure I get the question.
    If it is "could you use AppleScript to create mail merge for Pages with Excel?", the answer is, Yes. Both Pages and Excel are scriptable.
    If the question is "has anyone done it yet?", I don't know, but it could be a fun exercise.
    If the question is "would there be a market, if someone (you?) wrote and released such a script?", I cannot tell, but personally I would probably write a hack that worked only for my own needs - if I had them. The overhead with usability, testing, different address formats, languages, different Excel sheet formats, and so on, makes me guess that the investment wouldn't pay off for a generic solution. Especially considering both Pages and MS Office already have their own mail merge functions.

  • AppleScript for mail merge

    What is AppleScript for mail merge

    AppleScript is a programming language that is tied to certain Applications that support it. Pages v5.5.1 has a scripting dictionary of the terms it will support via AppleScript. Apple's answer to not including Mail Merge functionality in Pages v5.5.1 is for individual users to roll their own, download an example and adapt it, or use another application with built-in Mail merge features.
