Mail stuck in "limbo"...any suggestions?

Mail says the following:
"Some actions taken while the account was offline could not be completed online.
Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while offline.
Additional information: Operation could not be complete. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028.)
I keep having to force quit the mail application. Does anyone know what any of this means and how do I get my mail back up and running?

This info about the attempt to send the large video file is important. The impact is probably in the Outbox, or perhaps the Drafts folder.
Quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes and locate the Outbox.mbox folder. Open the Outbox.mbox folder, and then open the Messages folder you find within it. This would normally be empty if messages have all been sent, but I suspect you will find a xxxx.emlx file of some size. Whenever a message that cannot be sent remains in the Outbox.mbox, it can cause problems.
If you find this to be the case either delete the xxxx.emlx file, or you can even delete the entire Outbox.mbox folder -- Mail will create a new one when next you send.

It is now locked to the original carrier. Sounds like that was Orange. Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize the unlock of the phone. You may be able to use it again on Orange, or if they provide unlock services you may be able to get it unlocked, however I have read of many phones that have been hacked to unlock not accepting the factory unlock. I was also was stuck for a very long time (3 hours) with progress bar at 50%. I followed Bjerglund's bravery and held the power button down and restarted again. Happy to report, it also worked for me. Thanks Bjerglund for leading the way.

Try resetting the device by holding down the home and sleep key, past the red slider, and until you see hte silver apple. That will reset the device with no damage to your info.
What you probably did was try too e-mail something too big to be e-mailed. I shot a 3 minute video that was 80+ megs....e-mail often only allows a fraction of that. It's likely trying ot upload something it can't handle, and is hung up.

Ok first my Mail APP after 4 years stopped syncing with GMAIL and two days later ICLOUD. I deleted all accounts and readd them and nothing happens. How do I uninstall the mail app and reinstall it. Or does anyone know of a better Mail App to use.
Using Maverick and Mail 7.1

After some searching I have found a solution. I had to delete the contents of the following folder:
~/Library/Mail/myemailaccount/.OfflineCache/
Note: replace "myemailaccount" with the appropriate folder on your computer that represents your e-mail account. Once I deleted the contents of this folder (there were 2 files), and restarted Mail, there were no problems.
Hope this helps a few people in the future!

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.

HT5330 My icloud account on my macbook has stuck with the wrong info for incoming mail and I cannot change the info. Somehow the "box" is locked. Any suggestions ?

The box has never been locked before and now displays a different name to that suggested by Apple for iCloud.
There is obviosly something going on at iCloud as there seem to be large numbers of iCloud users having the same problem....
Works OK with the iphone but not the Macbook !!

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
