Major frustration; no tears YET

Hi - I posted a message last night - 22 hours ago - on the
Active HTML category and haven't gotten a reply. I know it's a
constant problem for new users to connect to the testing server
using IIS and Windows Vista and DW CS3 and MS Access. (Not to
mention that it's a holiday weekend.) I have tried multiple fixes
and posted a detailed list of what I have tried over the past 2
weeks. After reading the 'I'm in tears' posts I have to say I feel
the same way! About 10 years ago I created a website using a
combination of Winword 97, I think and tweaking the code in a text
editor and have gotten a fair number of compliments. It uses tables
and still works well. Transitioning to DW up to this point has not
been too bad - usually I just have to re-read the tutorial - but I
have hit the wall with trying active pages. That's my main reason
for creating my site - I have about 4 years working with Access,
and like it.
Well, I can't link to my post but the title is: ASP on
Localhost / LiveData View or browser - Long and it is currently the
6th item down the list in the Dynamic HTML General Discussion
forum.
Can somebody please, please take a look and let me know what
else to try? Thanks - Lisa.
PS - I have also posted the message on the IIS forum but I
suspect am running into the holiday weekend problem there

Okay, first, most of us don't know anything about the forums
you're
mentioning here. We're just on this forum and we read the
posts in various
different programs, so the way the threads are listed will be
different for
different people. It would be best if you would just ask the
question *here*
clearly.
Second, a subject line that only describes your emotional
state is not
helpful! The purpose of the subject line is to allow
volunteers to scan the
many different threads and find the ones in their area of
knowledge. If/when
you start a new thread, a subject line that mentions the
problem would
really help you to get more useful answers.
Third, I've read your post a couple of times now - your
second post which
was supposed to clarify the problem - and I still can't even
tell *what* the
problem is. You say that you've "tried everything" - tried
everything for
what?? What is the problem you need help with?

  • Major graphical issues, tearing, random pixels (10.7.2, 5770HD, Dual)

    I am having major issues with my Mid 2010 mac pro. ATI Radeon 5770 in dual 22" monitors and I'm getting triangles flashing on the screen, random pixels, tearing, etc.

    I'm using (currently) 1 Mini display port to single link DVI to primary, DVI to DVI on secondary.
    I've tried 2 mini ports, 2 dvi's and a variety of combinations. Eventually after hours of doing this the mac will sleep, or just during use, go complete grey or blue screen and hard lock.

    It can be a driver issue, especially when it happens from scrolling and such.
    However: Here's some more information about what I've done.
    1) Reset the SMC/PMC
    2) Moved the ATI card to the other PCIex16 slot, and changed the AUX power plug from B to A
    3) Sometimes it works great for hours, other times...the second I sit down.
    This Mac was purchased in June and is in a very clean room, dust is not an issue (it's not even on the card).
    AppleCare apparently expired...but I've noticed that I'm not the only one with issues, maybe the only one this severe but apparently there are issues with the 5770 and Lion and MacPro Mid-2010.

  • Frustration: Airport connected yet not *connecting*

    My airport recognizes its apple network and registers four full bars in the airport icon, and yet, try as it might, it still can't/won't connect to the internet. I'm not sure what to do. It's happened before and fixed itself--or perhaps I did something to make it work and now I've forgotten what it was. In any case, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
    (I've installed the latest airport software, too.)

    Try turning airport off then on again from the menu bar and see if it reconnects. I suspect it will.
    If so, I suspect you're running 10.5.2 or 10.5.3. And unfortunately there's no definitive fix, but a lot of people suffering.

  • Need Help - Majorly Frustrated!!!!

    Everytime I go into iTunes and do something- like attempt to buy a song, or redeem a gift card it says Error 9808. And that theres a problem with the iTunes store. Well this has been happening for about a week or so. I am so frustrated!! It used to work- now it doesn't! I have uploaded iTunes like twice- deleted it and re did it. And nothing- the same dang thing! I have talked to one support person who couldn't really help. I did everything she said and nothing. I am tempted to leave iTunes but don't know where else you can download songs to your iPods!!! And not to mention I have a 25 dollar gift card! ugg!
    Any help would be great appreciated!!!!

  • Flashing Color Bars - major frustration

    I'm a recent convert from Final Cut Express to Final Cut Pro. I've got a brand new setup using my 15" Powerbook, a Miglia Director's Cut SCART to convert my Firewire to analog video for use with an external video monitor. I'm currently working in PAL with a PAL monitor.
    I just created my first project in FCP; it's set up as DV PAL and I've imported just one PAL DV clip into the timeline.
    My problem: about every 57 seconds I get about a one second flash of colorbars on my external monitor. This is driving me bonkers. It doesn't matter if FCP is playing back the clip, or simply sitting idle.
    I've discovered if I start another app and FCP is no longer the active app, these same bars come on the external monitor all the time. When FCP again becomes the active app, my external monitor again correctly shows video...but with that once a minute color bar flash.
    These bars also don't look like what I'm familiar with in the past. They consist of a single row...there's no second or third row of patches. The first column is half-width and white, followed by the colors and last column is half-width black.
    This flashing is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?...and how to stop this?

    Andy, your response is well thought out. Shortly after my last post, I discovered for myself these bars are indeed being output by the Miglia box. When I shut down the computer for the evening, only the Miglia box and monitor remained on...and you guessed it...I still had bars on the screen. So the bars themselves are coming from the Miglia box.
    Also, as you deduced, this apparently occurs when the box receives no input. The next logical deduction is that Firewire communication is being interfered with. I was suspicious of that myself. At the moment, I have no anti-virus software installed. Furthermore, I was certain to have all programs shut down and used Activity Monitor to insure any unnecessary processes were shut down as well. (The only thing running was Snaps Pro, which I shut down; everything else appeared to be system stuff.)
    I've used two different cables and two different Firewire inputs. One configuration had the Miglia box on its own bus with nothing else connected. None of this made any difference.
    So at this point, I'm getting suspicious about the Miglia box itself. I'll give them a call today and see what they have to say.

  • Frustrating - freezing film playback problems

    Ok, first of all I should say that I was one of the many I saw on these forums who was having big problems with the 10.6.8 OS with my Mac, the too numerous to count problems of freezing/crashing/hanging being one of the reasons I recently downgraded to 10.5.8 (archive and Install). So far, it seems to have been running a lot better, but I will be working back up to the 10.6 (maybe not 10.6.8 though) maybe starting today. I may return to the forums to add my voice to the 10.6 problems very soon i predict...
    However, one problem (which was also there with 10.6.8 and became another reason to downgrade) is that all my downloaded films/series were suffering from incredibly frustrating freezing problems (most of them are avi. files) - I can't complete a full episode or film of anything. The film will reach a point, and freeze - for many minutes or so long, sometimes I have waited 20+ mins, that I simply exit the application. Initially, I thought this was maybe a VLC problem, but this also happens with films I burned to DVD many months ago (and which I have enjoyed countless times without any problems with playback before). The film will reach a certain point (often the same point) and freeze and not continue. Skipping forwards/backwards does nothing as does moving the slider around. The same happens in Quicktime (maybe even worse). Sometimes the critical freeze is preceded by moments of stuttering playback, but these more often than not go back to normal after a few seconds, a minute or so (still annoying though). The only option I have left is to exit the player. Same thing all the time. I had never experienced this problem before on the Mac (well, before 10.6.8 that is) and now all of a sudden both my burned DVDs and my downloaded film/series are suffering these problems, I'm close to tearing my hair out.
    It can't be corrupt files because, as I said, burned DVDs that were working fine and I played without problems so many times before, are suffering this problem too, although they tend not to freeze and never recover, they do freeze for many seconds and sometimes a couple of minutes. When I thought it was a VLC problem, I went through all the options there (deleting the preference files, resetting the cache, getting the latest version, uninstalling and redownloading) and no joy. I have reset the PRAM (two chimes on startup is it?) ran verify disk, repair disk, verify permissions, repair permissions - I downloaded Onyx and did all this again and again till I was going insane. When I thought it was maybe a lack of disk space, I bought an external hard drive and now have 77GB free on my Macintosh HD and still this happens. I had thought that archiving and installing 10.5 would mean that this problem, like the many other problems I was having with 10.6.8, would correct themselves, but this is now a major frustration for me. When I can't enjoy films I have downloaded or films burned to DVD, when I have so many many times in the past, it makes me mad. This is a basic feature of any computer - Mac or PC surely?
    What on earth is going on, can anyone help me please? I feel like I'm going mad here.

    What type of media did you use? Verbatim DVD-R 4x or less seems to work very well.
    Len Goff (iDVD Guru)often suggests this:
    Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...

    This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
    There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
    Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
    -->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
    Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Verizon FIOS Intermitte​nt Packet Loss Problem - How to Convince Verizon Support it's NOT ME

    Hi,
    I have been having a problem with Verizon FIOS Internet AND Phone since Thursday afternoon.
    Basically I have intermittent outages several times a day of 15-40 seconds where my download doesn't work, but upload still does. This happens on BOTH my phone and internet. Therefore it's not my router or computer equipment causing the problem.
    Here's what happens:
    - On the internet: I have a periodic download problem where I can receive no data for about 15 - 40 seconds. After that it returns to normal
    - On the phone: If I'm on the phone at the same time then during that period of internet loss I also can not hear anything that the person I am talking to says. However they can hear me just fine (ie. download only problem)
    I have been talking to Verizon technical support and they have blamed my router and ONT. I have tried switching off the router, and using a different one. Also they have replaced the ONT twice.
    * This problem occurs on BOTH the phone and internet at the same time. This clearly suggests the problem is not in my own house.
    In fact I know exactly where the problem lies. I did a traceroute to google below:

    Then I pinged each device for hops 2-4. When the problem occurs the first one in the hop - 74.105.157.1 - runs fine. The second device - 130.81.133.156 - times out, and all other devices further down the chain time out. This clearly suggest that the device:
    130.81.133.156 has major problems.
    I have mentioned this to tech support, but they have no way for me to send them logs. Apparently the support technicians at Verizon can not be trusted with even the most basic of tools like email and the web. They also shield me from the NT (Network technician), who is so special that even the tech support guys are only allowed to text chat with him, not actually talk to him. I have enough logs here to clearly show what the problem is.
    The latest from tech support is that they are sending yet another guy by my house tomorrow to witness this problem firsthand. Then he will call support that will text chat with the NT, and MAYBE they'll start thinking it's not me.
    My main question here is: "How do I get Verizon to believe it really could be a problem in their own network?"

    One person said Verizon finally fixed it by replacing a PON card. I'm not sure if this is the same problem as that though.
    I am an avid Starcraft player and this is driving me crazy because I am getting dropped from my games all the time. Also phone conversations suck when there's these big lags where I can't hear who I'm talking to.
    I have had Verizon FIOS internet for 3 years now and this is the first problem I've ever had with it. But I'm starting to get majorly frustrated at how long it's taking to resolve the problem.

    I understand your logic, but you have not eliminated 74.105.157.1 as the problem.  It could be allowing packets out, like outside callers hearing you, but not allow them back in. Since you have results pinging out, trying ping back in. Use this packet loss tool.  You do not need to catch it when it's not working because this tool will ping your IP address (and all the hops in between) for up to 7 days. You will easily see when packet loss is occurring.
    If it can successfully ping 74.105.157.1 when the problem occurrs, then 130.81.133.156 is not the issue. This may not help dealing with the personalities at Verizon, but it will help definitively knowing which device is the issue.

    I subscribed to 1 year with Adobe Creative Cloud more than a year ago. I got a discounted price of $29.99 per month instead of the normal $49.99 per month, because I qualified being that I had previously purchased and installed Adobe Creative Design Suite 4. I thought it a great idea to have all the software that the Adobe Cloud offered. A few months into that yearly subscription, I had been using Adobe Muse which was wonderful because I could actually create websites without knowing a bit of code. Yes, I was designing one site and had major difficulty and failed to publish many times. No fear, because a very king gentleman on Adobe Support named Zak did all his best and gave a great amount of attention to resolving this problem. While building that website my client lost patience with me in that I could not publish what the client wanted within reasonable time period because of all these failures in publishing and time in between each staggered resolve periods. I lost that client and ended up with a live website with a great deal of my artwork collected and established there. I decided to keep that website active if nothing more than to present it as a portfolio of sorts. Apparently, Zak, understood my disappointment with losing this client and actually provided me with a years, 12 months subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. Unfortunately every month I was subject to having to reaffirm the license for this yearly subscription! I began what ended up to be having to contact support each month for assistance in doing so. For without reactivating this yearly license each month I was subject to interruptions in accessing the software's usage or unable to use it at all. Major frustration...So come the nearing end of this Adobe Creative Cloud's subscription I contacted Adobe Support to voice my complaints on having to do this every month and once again get the subscription activated in order to use my software. This one support technician was giving me a difficult time for some reason and broke our telephone conversation many times as it was necessary for him to update himself with my file??? He came back to me astonished to find 12 months credit and asked me where did I acquire these freebies and on and on. He wanted proof that I had gotten these credits legally even though I reiterated the true story of benefiting from Zak's kindness. He wanted me to provide proof of the letter giving me all these credits and I told him I could and would. But he wanted to keep me on the phone for any duration until I could search my documents and find this letter and show it to him. I told him that I did not have time to search for it that moment and I could provide it later? He was really reluctant to allow this but eventually he requested I post this letter as proof onto my support ticket? Which I got around to do soon after. When posting that proof I asked to be given extra time on the subscription for being so to suspected of fraud? I asked for the hell of it a year or 2 more for Christ's sake? You know what, my support post has yet to be answered and actually I see that it was dismissed to no fault of mine. You haven't heard the most of what I went thru every month with this year’s subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. Yes, I'm pissed because now they are wanting me to spend $49.99 every month for another year’s subscription? Besides now the Creative Design Suite 4 that I had originally purchased as a full legal copy and acted to provide me with the original $29.99 discount qualification, they say is an OEM copy and does not qualify for the discount...                         As of today, Sunday, November 3rd, 2013, I'm still blocked from accessing my ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD SOFTWARE! I have submitted screenshots and whatever else to Adobe Support and have had no contact. I get a message that states it cannot go online to renew, confirm, update my subscription and therefore I can't access my software. Do you know how long this has been goping on now and how many times i've been interrupted from using this software over the last year?????

    Most of us in this forum are users who volunteer on technical issues, and not Adobe employees although they do drop in from time to time. As users we simply have no control over activation and that's why you are not getting responses.
    If you havn't done so,you might try the Muse forums and see if you can get a staff member to look into it. Have your case numbers and phone transcripts handy.
    Last option is to keep calling customer service until you get someone who will help or ask for a supervisor.

    I subscribed to 1 year with Adobe Creative Cloud more than a year ago. I got a discounted price of $29.99 per month instead of the normal $49.99 per month, because I qualified being that I had previously purchased and installed Adobe Creative Design Suite 4. I thought it a great idea to have all the software that the Adobe Cloud offered. A few months into that yearly subscription, I had been using Adobe Muse which was wonderful because I could actually create websites without knowing a bit of code. Yes, I was designing one site and had major difficulty and failed to publish many times. No fear, because a very king gentleman on Adobe Support named Zak did all his best and gave a great amount of attention to resolving this problem. While building that website my client lost patience with me in that I could not publish what the client wanted within reasonable time period because of all these failures in publishing and time in between each staggered resolve periods. I lost that client and ended up with a live website with a great deal of my artwork collected and established there. I decided to keep that website active if nothing more than to present it as a portfolio of sorts. Apparently, Zak, understood my disappointment with losing this client and actually provided me with a years, 12 months subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud.     Well John, it looks like you are talking to yourself on this one despite some 78 Views? I can't help to reiterate that I am still unable to access any of the software within my subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and therefore not able to do any work! What the hell? I thought I would get 1 reply back but so far nothing but your own dismay? Perhaps this is normal in the manner in which Adobe treats its customers and therefore complete indifference to my problem? Or perhaps I'm just percieved as a trouble maker within the lowest ranks of membership in this forum? None the less John, you as a begger gets what you receive? I'm just guessing that I be a real trouble maker and expose my frustration with Adobe to the rest of the worlds forums? Someone at least should consider that once I was a devoted customer in using Adobe products and spread by word of mouth the advantages in professionalism that Adobe promotes itself to. What else you gonna do now, John? Well I guess go broke because no software equals no work and that equals no monie. No cash flow to even resubscribe To Adobe Creative Cloud at any price!   • InDesign Borders

    I'm facing a major frustration, and I'm wondering if there's already a solution, or if this needs to be a new feature to be implemented in future InDesign versions.
    Adobe Illustrator has a wonderful palette for brushes which can be used as borders for text, etc. However, InDesign seems to be at a standstill in its border palette development since.. well, since the beginning of InDesign. With the exception of some minor corner style developments, designers still seem to be constrained to creating flat, simple multi-lined "Quark" style borders. (e.g.: Thick-Thick, Thick-Thin, etc.) with a propriatory file type: *.inst.
    It's impossible to find designers trading *.inst files online, versus the Illustrator Brush file types, *.ai files which can be found in abundance both for free or charge. My theory behind this is that, at some point in the last 10 years, a developer must have intended to expand the border creation abilities in InDesign, but never received any attention and concentrated on other more important features. Well, I'm here to appeal to the developers! It's time! Time, I say!
    Now, why would I want the Illustrator Brush/Stroke functionality in InDesign?
    Well, it seems like a no-brainer to me; it's a matter of workflow. When I'm designing anything more complicated than a logo or digital illustration, such as a flyer, a book, or any other multi-page piece with text and illustrations, I use InDesign for its pre-press abilities, bleed setups, typography styles, linking, etc. Thus, it just makes sense that if I make a border around a page, I should have a nice, wide variety of borders to choose from, or create ones on the fly from Illustrator *.ai files just like in Illustrator.
    This apparent lack of cross-compatibility means in order to achieve anything more than a flat line or easter-egg smiley faces, I'm limited to creating a pre-shaped border Illustrator and placing it into the page. Resizing becomes a disaster as they end up having to be treated as illustrations rather than borders. "Edit original", "Edit original", "Edit original".
    During my scouring of the net for a solution, I've found many other designers out there with the same question., some dating all the way back to CS2 days.
    Incidentally, while we're at it, heck, I'd love to see the same abilities in Photoshop. I mean why not? It's got vector tools in there as well. There really needs to be more universal palettes in the entire Adobe Creative Suite series. It just makes sense. The unification theory of palettes! Mwahahaha! *clasps his hands* Yes, I ask for too much.. but.. well, it's a good idea, ain't it?
    But seriously. It would be of massive use in InDesign; I'm surprised that it doesn't yet exist ten years into InDesign history. Is there a solution at this point? Or is this more of a feature request?

    I know I'm a trifle late as this question is shown as answered. Anyway, a couple of points. I used to use an app called Graphic Type Designer (GTD for short).

    It could create borders,corner peices, lines and corner effects using specially designed fonts. It would save these designs in WMF (Windows MetaFile) or plain text formats. I used it a lot with PageMaker and for a short while, InDesign as InDesign barely improves on the border selection that came with PM. I had to stop using it as it does not wotk with 64 bit Windows as although it is a 32 bit app, it retains a 16bit installer.
    Anothe alternative I have found today by searching for, and finding some great Illustrator brushes is this site:

    There seems to be a hell of a lot of brushes, borders and patterns for Illustrator on this site alone. As bob says, it is probably best (unles they add a ton more borders and effects in InDesign) to use Illustrator's borders and brush libraries to create custom borders. Hope this helps...

  • Lightroom Mobile stopped syncing my photos after the first collection.

    Has anyone else had similar issues? My computer has the files described as complete, but the app is simply not syncing.

    WWWHHHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHH.... Can you tell I am frustrated???? I have 10 collections synced without a glitch, but all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, the last two do not want to sync. AT ALL. It says on desktop they are syncing, I see the syncing animation on ipad, the two collections have showed up on ipad, but that is where it stops. Those two test collections have  a total of 9 photographs in them, LRdesktop says that it is syncing 9 photographs, but nothing happens. The animation keeps going, and by now those two collections should have long been on ipad...
    So for some reason to me unknown, LR mobile randomly stops working and syncing, and the only option is delete all data so far... Since I have 10 collections that have a total of 2882 photographs in them, I am not very happy to have to delete all data and have to start it all up from scratch again, yet this seems to be the only thing doable to get out of a gridlock...
    Major frustration is that I can only reach a call center in India where I presume they are working from a script, and if the problem does not fit the script they can NOT help you. I have now spoken to four people overthere and they all promise to call me back, but of course nobody does call me back.
    I have been waiting for a couple of days now, and the suggestion I got in the last call half an hour ago was to wait longer, they are researching it.
    Why can I not talk to a guy in England and what if their research takes them 50 days? Who is to say...
    It is not acceptable to have to delete all data time after time till mobile decides it has enough, and wants an delete all data again. This is all very confusing for my workflow of course, because in the end I forget which ones I did and which ones not.
    I am ready to pull out all my hair... strand by strand. The most frustrating thing is that you can not reach a real live person in England or USA who could actually troubleshoot live... Althoug I can imagine now that the only solution will be delete all data again...
    It means that you are never sure whether mobile is going to work or to act up. It seems that if it starts to act up, the whole thing is messed up... It means that for the last four days I had moments of utter happiness followed by utter dispair, the latter on now again, because I seem to spend time that I should be working on photographs on browsing the forums to see if anybody else had that problem and how they solved it.
    Is Delete all data really the only way out of gridlock??? Where is Julianne Kost when you need her...

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen stuck in "infinite loop"

    I updated to iOS 5 and the update went smoothly but when it came to restoring the device from my last back up, the same message has popped up a dozen times.  It starts by saying that the restore was interrupted and asks if I wish to continue the restore.  When I click yes, it gives me the error message (-34).  I have no idea what this error is supposed to mean.  Anyone have any ideas?  I'd like to get my iPod back to what it was.  Majorly frustrating.

    Try what you have not yet tried:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer                            
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I need help exporting on CS3 to tape

    Hi! I'm having some major problems as I'm completely 100% lost on what to do here and frustrated to tears to boot. I have some movie files I've made (.avi) that I want to export to Mini DV tape (back to my camera). The problem is that I have absolutely no idea how to do this. Not even the slightest inkling. Importing is a piece of cake, but exporting I am completely lost. I know next to nothing about this process or what I'd need to do. If anyone has any tips at all in layman's version that I could understand to be able to do this, I would appreciate it so very much.
    I am running Premier Pro CS3 on a Windows XP PC, I have the iEEE 1394 firewire cable and the capture card is installed on my computer (obvious, i've been able to import footage), and my mini DV camera is a Sony HDV 1080i miniDV. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reverse engineer this and scowering the internet for any tutorials or help has been completely useless so far. Please, someone, lend me some knowledge :)

  • Problem with my Canon PIXMA iP6600D printer

    My Canon PIXMA iP6600D printer suddenly will not print black ink. At the time I thought it was just out of ink (that cartridge was low and I knew I needed a replacement) but I have since replaced it and the printer will not print the black (other colors appear just fine). I have cleaned the nozzle head at least a dozen times and deep-cleaned it at least 4, and it will still not print black (and this is with a new cartridge). I have tried to print the auto head align but I get this message after it tries to do it:
    " Auto Head Align has failed. Press OK and repeat operation. (see manual)"
    And I have looked in the manual but there's no information on this. The manual's advice (if there are 'white lines' or whatnot in whatever is being printed, which I figure is the closest to my problem) is to wait 24hrs and try cleaning the nozzle again.

    Can anyone help or suggest anything I haven't tried yet? Worst comes to worst, is this something I can bring in to Best Buy to have checked out and/or fixed? D: I'm at the end of my tether here frustrated to tears.

    made the change, but doesn't fix my issue of not being able to re-add the printer... will play around with the printer to make sure it's on and actively connected, but at this point, that fix does nothing for me... thanks though... I'm sure it fixed the printing problem I was having before I removed the printer...

    Yes, this is another new "feature" in Mtn Lion.
    I have a Canon S95 camera.
    My Lion Mac Minis show the name of the camera on the left and on the desktop. So did my Ubuntu and Win7 laptops. This late 2012 Mtn Lion mini does not.
    I can specify to open Image Capture when the camera is connected.  But I.C. is more complex than just using the camera as an external drive in the finder. I have decades of photos organized in subject folders.
    This is my 6th major frustration with Mtn Lion.  They should've called it "Lame Giraffe" or "Know-it-all Chimp."  Mtn Lion tries too hard to think for us, like Microsoft "products" do. They've also removed too many good features, like iDVD.
    What would Steve say (RIP)?
    I am watching the clock on my return capability at Best Buy.  I may yet go for a Lion mini if they have one left, or just go back to Linux.
