Make my iPhone stop downloading Match songs I do not want on it

I tried deleting 60+ music disks from my iPhone so I could
fit new music. I noticed it getting warm in my pocket. I found all the 6.9 GB
had re-downloaded. Now I have deleted them again and have turned off Match. How
do I stop it from downloading older stuff I do not want on there anymore? I hate
to pay for wasted bandwidth. Or how do I cancel the service since I know that will
stop it?

I understand that you are experiencing some difficulties with iTunes Match. It is possible that you may need to simply adjust a setting to affect the behavior you are having issues with. Try using the information in this link to adjust your Music settings to see if this accomplishes the desired goal:
View only music that’s downloaded. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Under Show All, turn off Music.

I can't get itunes to stop downloading a song. I have tried everything I know how which probably isn't much, however it isn't fixing the problem. Please someone tell me what to do!

In a peculiar twist, in 11.1.1 two particular podcasts (Science Friday audio & video) have two particular weeks of episodes (one was last week, so it may extend to the future as well) that won't delete permanently. When you delete the already played episodes, they just download again on a refresh. That behavior is described in lots of places. I thought it might be a bug in the RSS code, but I've compared SciFri with some others that don't have the problem and can't identify anything glaring.
The peculiar twist is that if I mark the already listened to episodes as Played (so I don't have to look at the large counter number), after awhile they show up as unplayed again! Some bit deep down in the iTunes innards is not sticking as it should once episodes are played, and it's apparently an intermittent issue that affects only certain podcasts. One would think it couldn't have anything to do with the actual audio or video content, so it must have something to do with the XML or the metadata being read or set wrong.
Very vexing, because without constant policing, downloads and disc space keep accumulating - a problem for those on limited data plans.

Iphone stopped downloading Gmail

Upgraded to OS 4.1 on wednesday...iphone stopped downloading my gmail, but will SEND from my gmail account. wierd. I tried setting up a new gmail account; same result--no email download.
I keep getting a message that the imap.gmail.com server is not responding, but this is limited to my iphone--messages are visible on gmail webmail. No problem downloading other mail accounts. This is imap on gmail, imap is enabled. Everything worked fine until I installed 4.1.

I've been having this problem as well a lot lately (1.5 years with no problems).
If you change the imap server to imap.googlemail.com it seems to solve the problem, at least temporarily. Then when it arises you have to change it back to imap.gmail.com

Forward it to another email address, or print it, or copy and paste it into another app, then delete it.
Your iPhone mirrors exactly what is in your iCloud email account. If you delete the email from your phone it will be deleted from the iCloud server.

What happens after you select an app to be downloaded direct with your iPhone? Any error message provided? Does the download begin but is not completed? Are you able to download apps with iTunes on your computer?

Stop Download Of Songs To Iphone

I was out the other night & as you do after a few beers I started messing about with my phone & I decided to download all of my music to my phone. Bad news, I have 10,000 tunes in my library & according to Apple support there is no way to stop them downloading except by deteting them individually! I only have 5,500 to go lol!!

Sure. As long as the "live updating" option is selected in when you create the playlist new music added to the iTunes library will automatically be added to the playlist. The playlist will be automatically refreshed when opened on the iDevice.

YOu can't use the whole song for a ringtone, you would have to create one 30 second or less.
YOu can download an app to create the ringtone.

IPhone automatically downloading matched music?

So I have been using iTunes Match since it first came out and I have just recently noticed something that I am not sure if is common or not. I don't have my phone synced because I use iTunes Match over wifi which works out pretty well (105GB of music on my phone is really convenient). However, recently I was on a road trip and forgot to sync some music onto my iPod since I wouldn't have an internet connection. Without thinking I plugged in my phone and I noticed that there was some music on my phone but obviously not the entire amount.
My question is this: Does the iPhone automatically download music on to your phone from Match? Perhaps the most played ones? I mean, it would make sense and it would be quite smart of it to do that but is that actually the case? I'm interested in knowing. My second question is, how do I get those songs off without turning iTunes Match off and syncing it to be cleared, then turning it on again?

Hi,
Music played goes into a temporary cache which allows you to listen to them offline. It takes up space on your iphone and if you go to settings > general > usage > storage and select music app. You will see amount of space used - you can delete this.

Matched songs in library not showing on ipad/iphone

Some songs in my itunes library (windows) that indicate matched or uploaded do not show up at all on my ipad2 or iphone 4s. If I switch to "shared" (over the network), the do, but not through icloud/match. Any ideas? Thanks

In iTunes on your computer, you can stream purchased media, but the TV shows will need to be downloaded to your computer before you can sync them to your iPad.
You will see an iCloud icon on the TV show in iTunes if you are streaming it:
If this is the case, there are two options transfer your shows to your iPad: (1) download the TV shows directly to your iPad from your previous purchases list on your iPad and (2) download the TV show to iTunes and then sync. You can find the steps to download these purchases to your computer or your iPad at the following link:

I subscribed to iTunes Match and I want to download the matched songs/albums from the cloud but I can't figure out how...I'm sure I'm missing something simple, please help!

I had the same exact problem. I would set my imac to download a batch of songs by iTunes match, I'd go do something else and every time I would come back to a crashed computer. No "Force Quit" possible, just plain crashed. So I would start it back up and have a go again. Finally after several days, I realized that it was a handful of specific songs that were the culprit. Now I don't mind if there's a glitch with a few songs. It was the fact that it ALWAYS crashed my mac. Come on iTunes team!
I found this article on Apple's support siten which has you restart iTunes Match:

It fixed a couple of the songs, but still the crashing on the remaining dozen. It appeared that the download was trying to reconnect with a previous attempt and for whatever reason, it caused it to crash. So after lots of trial and error, here is the solution for downloading a song that won't download (I don't think this is on Apple's support site):
1. Start playing the song. The iTunes Match cloud server will be forced to reinitiate a new download.
2. Watch the grey bar creep to the end of the load.
3. Right-click and download the previously undownloadable track!
