Make Portal masthead's help link languague independent?

Hi Team / Experts,
I need to make the help hyperlink in the masthead languague independent.
I know that the content of the help page is stored and maintained in the Portal KM content but it is an HTML file.
And the link to the help page is specified in the ***.masthead iview property
So what is the best solution to do this?
- Shoud i do it with a parameter and control it in the htlm file by reading the parameter and changing the content visible or redirecting it to another page? (then i have to change the html to some jsp file)
- Can i redirect to another page by clicking the help url directly
Regards,
Michael

Hi Jithin,
The link that you've shared talks about a different scenario.
In my case, I want to pass the portal user id when the user clicks on the Help Link present in the header area.
I am trying to pass it along with the Help Link Url property of a masthead iview but it is not getting passed to the target Url.
I would like to know if it is possible to pass the Portal User Id in this way or not.
Though if we create a appintegrator iview and pass the user id <User.UserID> along with the target Url, it reaches there.
Thanks & Regards,
Anurag

  • Portal roles as Hyper Links

    Hi Gurus,
    How to make portal roles as hyper link?
    Regards,
    venkat

    Hi Venkat,
    To provide access to a workset or page within a role via URL, just copy the '<b>PCD Location</b>' parameter of the object within the role and use the following syntax:
    <i>http://<server>:<port>/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://<PCD_LOCATION></i>
    You could also use the short URLs to link directly to a page object:
    1- Goto '<i>System Administration -> Navigation -> Short URLs</i>'
    2- Search for the page object, and find the corresponding short URL to the above mentioned PCD Location
    3- Use the short version of the URL '<i>http://<server>:<port>/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=navurl://<SHORT_URL _ID></i>'
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,

  • Customizing the Help link in Portal Masthead

    Customizing the Help Link in Portal Masthead is easy.
    But what if we need to point that help link to another site that is require a user to logon?  Is there any way we can have the other site to bypass the logon screen?
    But than how will it check the logon credentials?

    Hi,
    you can use the user mapping functionality of the portal.
    - Create an HTTP system in the portal and configure the user logon part.
    - Define the user mapping per use in the user administration or let the user do it (personalization).
    - Create an URL iView for that system.
    - Configure the Help link of the masthead to use this URL iView.
    When the user clicks the help link, the portal will use the URL iView and use the user mapping SSO mechanism.

  • How to find out URL of Masthead Help Link

    Hi Experts,
    I am working for a support project. Implementation team has long back left the project. I have to change the 'Help' link URL of Masthead area. There are three links in Masthead - Logoff, Personalize and Help.
    At present when we are clicking on 'Help' link of  Masthead, user is routed following website:
    https://www.xyz.com.
    In the new scenarion, when the user will click on 'Help' link of  Masthead, user should be routed following website:
    https://www.abc.com.
    I can see the following property of Masthead iView:
    Show Link in Masthead: Help
    I am unable to find out where the URL has been stored.
    Can you please let me know. Is it in UME or any other place? If yes, where excatly in UME.
    I searched a lot in the code. I got the file (com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead) from server. After that I imported it in NWDS. I searched a lot in various places of NWDS. I can not see the URL.
    It seems that javascript:openHelp is helping in getting URL. If yes, how?
    <TD nowrap >

    Hi Sushil,
    It seems that I don't have the correct masthead  par file. I have got the masthead file from BASIS. It is com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead
    The existing masthead par file has following setting in portalapp.xml
    <property name="HelpUrl" value="http://help.sap.com/content/documentation/netweaver/docu_nw_04s.htm">
              <property name="plainDescription" value="Help Link URL"/>
              <property name="category" value="Navigation"/>
            </property>
            <property name="ShowLogInLogOffLink" value="true">
              <property name="validvalues" value="4/true5/false"/>
              <property name="plainDescription" value="Show Link in Masthead: Log In / Log Off"/>
              <property name="longDescription" value="Show or hide the 'Log In' / Log Off' link displayed in the masthead iView at runtime."/>
              <property name="category" value="Navigation"/>
            </property>
            <property name="HelpUrl" value="http://help.sap.com/nw04 ">
              <property name="plainDescription" value="Help Link URL"/>
              <property name="category" value="Navigation"/>
            </property>
    This does not contain link https://www.xyz.com
    Does this mean that the mathead par I am having is wrong.
    Please suggest.

  • Customize portal "Help" link based on user roles

    Is there a chance to customize the Help link URL in Masthead iView based on user roles? The use case we have is that the "Help" should be different for users of the purchasing company from those of the supplying company.
    Thanks.

    Hello Jay.
    This is a multi step process.
    Step 1 : Create 2 desktops with everything as same but different mastheads.
    - Copy your existing desktop and paste it in your working folder in PCD (Not select Delta link)
    - Now download masthead par file.
    - Modify your masthead par file where you will disable help link. Rename you masthead file (newMasthead.par) and export it from NWDS. Now import it in portal.
    - open your framework page in desktop2. Just add your new masthead in it. Enable the new one and disable the existing one.
    Step 2 : Create 2 groups of users. (First one belong to users who wish to see help link . i.e existing desktop) (Second of thoese users who do not have to see help link i.e. newDesktop)
    - Assign users to appropriate groups.
    - Assign same roles to both groups.
    Step 3 : Modify main rule section in PCD.
    - If group = HelpLinkUsers Then Desktop1
    If group = NoHelpLinkUsers Then Desktop2.
    You may find above process bit tedious and lengthy.
    But if you wish to further customize your portal then this will be needed one day.
    If you find problems in implementing any step then please search in google or SDN.
    Please revert back on any specific question on above approach you may face while implementing.
    Thanks

  • How to Update Function Link Text in Portal MastHead

    Can someone please advise the steps to control the link text in the Function section of the Portal MastHead (e.g. Log Off, Help, etc...).
    Thanks for your help!
    Scott

    If you just want to remove these simple links, you do this within the configuration of the masthead iView:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/97/d4ee3d6434445ae10000000a11405a/content.htm
    If you want to change the functions within the portal personalisation:
    Look in the 'Portal Personalization' workset of the 'eu_role' . Im assuming that you have the eu_role assigned to the everybody built in standard group.
    This workset has all the options within that list.
    ¡        Portal Theme (page)
    ¡        Portal Language (page)
    ¡        User Mapping (page)
    ¡        User Mapping (Remote iViews) (page)
    ¡        User Password (page)
    ¡        User Profile (page)
    ¡        WorkProtect Mode (page)
    You can modify this, or copy it and modify it as you please.

  • Help link in SAP portal

    Hello Portal Guru,
    I need to change the url of help link which is next to logoff in the top right of SAP portal. I thought it is on masthead iview. But it is not. Could anyone here help me to find the souce of the link please? Thanks.
    Bai

    Dear
    Masthead: contains branding elements, user identification, and the appropriate (based on the portal configuration) function links, such as Help, Personalize, New Session, Log Off, and Log On.A link can be displayed or hidden by setting the Show Link in Masthead: <Link Name> navigation property of the Masthead iView.The Help link, by default, launches SAP Help Portal. You can customize the URL so that the link goes to a site of your choosing.
    In the Portal Content, go to Portal Users -> Standard Portal Users ->Default Framework Page -> Masthead iView. Open the Masthead iView in the Property Editor, and in the Help Link URL property, enter the URL of the site you want launched when the user clicks the Help link.
    Hope I will solve ur problem

  • How to add "Search button" in portal masthead

    Hi Experts,
    We have to add search button in the portal masthead. We have not installed TREX. We want that on entering some text, the text should be searched in Google and result displayed in some nice way.
    Can you please help me?
    Regards,

    You have to create your own Masthead iView.
    1. Download the Par file for the Masthead iView and setup a project in Netweaver Developer Studio. Name of the par file is com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par
    2. Modify the JSP file and make the needed changes
    3. Deploly the Par file with a new name.
    4. Create new masthead iView
    5. Edit the framework page and replace the masthead iView with the newly created masthead iView.

    Hi Rabih,
    Finally, I solved it on my own.
    Here is the soln.,
    First create a copy of the Default framework page and edit it. Untick the visible checkbox for Portal masthead, toplevel navigation and detailed navigation.Save it.
    Create a URL for accessing this link like irj/servlet/pcd...
    Now coming to the coll. room URL, create a URL iview with the above URL and pass the Collaboration connector as parameter to the URL iview.
    It worked for me.
    If u need further clarification,mail me at [email protected]
    If the above answer is helpful, consider rewarding points.

  • How to dynamically dispaly Help Link

    Hi All,
           I have a few dynamic requirement regarding the portal help link.
            I wanted to display the help content dynamically.
    My scenario is like this.
    If I am in page Google in the portal content area when i click Help I should be able to sdispaly about Google in a seperate window.
    If I am in page yahoo in the portal content area when i click Help I should be able to sdispaly about yahoo in a seperate window.
    By editing the default framwork page and giving the help url to my requirement I can give only one url under navigation.But my requirement is dynamic which will be depending on my page which I browse.
    I also opened Headeriview.jsp from PCD folder and found the javascript method for displaying help.Is there any way where in i can pass the context of my page iview dynamically to the help function in headeriview.jsp.
    Does Portal support this?
    Helpful answers will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    B.Narayanan

    Nope, sorry that ain't going to work.
    You have to remember that the tags on a JSP page are translated into servlet code. THEN the page is run.
    This code is being generated at runtime - well after the custom tags have been translated. Its not going to translate it for you now.
    Instead you should have an <html:link> tag on the page that takes its attributes dynamically.
    something like the following:
    <html:link action="<%= actionName %>" paramid="<%= paramId %>" paramName="<%= productCode %>">Product - <%= productCode %>
    If you are using JSP2.0 you can use EL expressions to make it more readable
    The problem you have is that you are trying to shift the view logic into the action. Instead your action should pass a bean to the jsp so that it can use the info in that bean to render the link.
    Hope this helps,

  • Documentation missing about iView properties of com.sap.portal.masthead

    Hi,
    I configure the available links in the portal masthead. When switching "Show Link in Masthead: Help Center" (property ID: ShowHelpCenterLink) from "No" to "Yes" I get the link "Help Center" in the portal header, but when clicking the link nothing happens.
    Is there any documentation how to use/implement this feature?
    Best regards,
    Johannes

    Hi Keshari
    I already provided a valid URL but this URL is only being launched when I  choose the property "Show Link in Masthead: Help" (ID: ShowHelpLink).
    What I noticed is that when I click on the "Help Center" link in the header, the currently displayed page gets compressed creating about 1/3rd empty space on the page on the right hand side.
    How can I configure that help gets displayed in this area?
    For "help center" I only found some ABAP-related documentation (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/c2/00976e34ef4397b082acb7d934d373/frameset.htm) which does not contain any Portal related configuration.
