Making an entered value negative dynamically

Hello,
Does anyone know the simplest way to automatically convert a number entered into a field to a negative value? For example if 7.5 were entered the value stored would be -7.5 Users often forget to add the '-'before a value and I want to elliminate this problem.

this works.
abs will always return a positive number.... even if it was negivite like example below -10... then lead with "-" and it will make it a negitive number.
example:
select - abs(-10) from dual;

I am trying to make a chart with data that spans -10 to -6. When I chart it, Numbers makes the maximum y value zero by default. I would like the y axis to span -12 to -4. Any help would be appreciated.

Making a Field Value Always Negative in Acrobat

Hi,
I am trying to create a field in Acrobat that will always be read by the calculation tool as a negative number. For example, I have a filled-in form with the following (where the blank lines are the form fields):
Base Salary               $_____________
Pre-tax deductions     <_____________>
401(k) deferrals          <_____________>
Incentive bonus            _____________
Total                         $_____________
I have set the total field as a calculation of the sum of the first four fields, but I need the two fields with the chevrons ( < > ) around them to be negative numbers, without the user having to enter the value with a negative symbol ( - ). Is there a way to assign the value entered into those 2 fields as negative so that Acrobat will subtract them from the other two values when it caculates?

I am unclear on what exactly you are saying. Can you give me a little more detail.
What should I put in the "Custom calculation script" to make the calculation work correctly?
And how will I know if my field names meet the requirements for the "Simplified field calculation" method? I don't know what those requirements are. If I use this method, what coding do I need to put in the "Simplied field calculation" box?
I don't know any JavScripting so that's why I was using the "Value is the _______ of the following fields" option. How would creating a hidden field to compute the negative value of the fields help if I can't make a field negative? All I was wanting to do was see if there's a way to set any value entered into that field as a negative value. Is there not a way to make anything entered into that field negative? Do I just need to tell the user to enter a negative symbol ( - ) before the number so it will calculate correctly?

Switching dynamic tabs causes loss of entered values

I am running into a fundamental issue with dynamic tabs.
When the user has multiple tabs open, and he is busy entering values in one tab, and then switches to another tab without saving the values in the first tab, the entered values in the first tab are lost when the user triggers at least one http request in the new tab. If the user switches to the new tab, does not do anything and returns immediately to the first tab, the entered values are still there. I understand that the JSF model update phase is skipped when switching tabs because immediate="true". But the apply request values phase is still performed, so the UI components should still have the submitted value. Somehow, these values get lost when a subsequent request is send while those UI components are no longer visible. I tried changing the rendered property of the regions in the page template to "visible" so the UI components are kept in the component tree, but that didn't help.
Th idea of temporarily switching to another task, similar to switching browser tabs, is undermined with this behavior because end users don't like it when some of their work is lost.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?

I think you need to use static instead of dynamic regions that way you can keep the region modification across all the tabs. The visible property on the regions some how its not working for me so I am surronding each region with PageGroupLayout and setting the visible property to it and set rendered property to region. The visible property and rendered property condition can be controlled by the tab action.

How to Change Value set Dynamically for a Parameter in Apps?

I have a requirement where i need to change the value set dynamically for a given Parameter. This goes as, I have a Concurrent Program with 4 parameters. First Parameter is mandatory Business group.Second Parameter is Warehouse. Based up on the First parameter the second parameters LoV's are displayed, the third and fourth parameters value sets are dependent up on the Second parameter value. Parameter 2,3,4 Value sets are Table type. So i Used .$FLEX$.Value_setname to retrive the LOV's
The Requirment now is that if the User doesn't enter the Parameter 2 than the Third Parameter field must be Open and he must be able to enter the Free text. In my case it is an Order Number. If the User enters the paramter 2 value than LOV's for ORder number pertaining to that Warehouse must get displayed. I've figured that this can be possible only if i change the Valuesets Dyanamically. I'm not sure if that is possible or not.
I have tried :
Using a Dummy Parameter with a new valueset(Transactable Independent) and giving Y and N based up on Warehouse parameter input.
SELECT (DECODE ( :$FLEX$.WAREHOUSE_NAMES,NULL,'Y','N')) from dual;
The default type was SQL.
Then in the 3rd Parameter i have used Case function to differentiate Y or N. The third parameter being ORder number, is a table type and derived from Oe_order_headers_all.
In the Query section i tried using dummy parameter value set to retreive the values. I was terribly Unsuccessful in doing so.
Does the above Case exists or is Doable? Please, Help me out if somone had worked on Similar thing or have any idea of standard report/program using it in Oracle.

You will probably have better luck on the eBusinesSuite forum. This is more of a setup issue when defining your LOV and program parameters than it is a SQL or PL/SQL issue.

I checked with the screen and report which is mentioned by you. But I want to modify/make changes that should appear in the screen when you view details for a particualar employee in Qualifications(IT0024).
Please refer the screen 2000 of module pool MP002400 in SE80. In that screen I want to make change as listbox with key.
Can it be achieved in the same way as mentioned by you before by making standard SAP report as Z and then modify using layout editor?
Please help me out. I think I am almost there.

Values of dynamic selections for LDB DDF

I have to customize a SAP standard program which is using LDB-DDF. As per client requirement, we have to add a few select statement and there we have to add the selection criteria of dynamic selections.
The problem I am facing is that I dont know how and where i can track the values given in the dynamic selection screen.
I did some research and I found out that values entered in the dynamic selections is stored in complex data object (deep structure) but I am not able to find it where and how we can use it.
The name of the SAP standard program is RFDZIS00.

In SE36-> DDF-> select the Selections radio button.
Menubar Extras->Selection Views-> Here you can change the "origin of view" which is created by SAP or we can create our own views under "origin of view" CUS.

I have capitalized an AUC but after capitalization only i came to know that it has been over valued for 2000 BHD now i want to reverse that 2000 BHD which is over capitalized , i tried doing this in f-02 with transaction type 101 and i am getting the below error

Asset affected: 000000400012-0000
I have to pass the following entry

Credit Asset
is the way i have done is correct if not please guide me in this issue

Diagnosis
With the transaction entered, the balance for the transactions in group 10 in area 01 will be negative in this fiscal year. However, the balance of transaction type group 10, according to its definition, must be positive in each fiscal year.
System Response
The system rejects this posting.
Procedure
Check the transaction type, the amount and the fiscal year in your posting. If you want to post a credit memo to an acquisition from the previous year, then use a transaction type for a retirement. If necessary, you can change balance rules after talking with your SAP consultant.
Please help me for the above issue.

A dynamic action has the following components.
Infotype Number (INFTY): specifies the infotype for which you want the dynamic action triggered
Subtype (SUBTY): narrows the focus to a specific subtype
Field Name (FIELDN): starts your action when a maintenance function is performed on a particular field
Function (FC): specifies the various maintenance operations to which your dynamic action would respond. They are 02 (change); 04 (create); 06 (create and change); 08 (delete); 10 (change and delete); 12 (create and delete). Dynamic actions are only applicable in maintenance operations, not in display functions.
Sequence Number (NO): refers to a sequential number.
Step (A): specifies a particular type of action. No dynamic action is executed if the function character has a value other than one of the following:
             P: Plausibility checks, which allow you to check certain conditions.
             I: Calls an infotype for processing
             W: Called after the I statement and used to assign values to screen fields while creating or copying another infotype record through the I statement
              F: Calls a FORM routine (subroutines in ABAP) during your action. The routine may reside in or out the module pool MPNNNN00.
             V: Lets you treat collectively a number of fields for which you want to define a common dynamic action
              M: Sends SAP Office mail
Variable function part: The variable function part along with the step indicator forms the core part of your action. It specifies the processing details when the dynamic action is triggered. For example:
Requirement: When the postal code or the city of an employeeu2019s permanent residence is changed in infotype 0006, an email should be sent to the administrator.

AuC Settlement- Acquisition value negative in Area 01

Hi,
I´m trying to execute the transaction AIBU (AuC settlement: Initial screen) for a specific asset; however, every time that I´m trying, I´m getting the following error: u201CAcquisition value negative in Area 01".
But actual Asset value is there in positive amount.

Suresh, did you try my suggestion? If not then please try it out....
Use AS02 and enter the asset, click on the Depreciation areas. Double click on Area 01 and check the indicator "Neg vals allowed". do the same for the rest of the ones. (Click next area or Shift+F6).
I will look for another solution if it doesnot work.
You can check the indicator now and after posting you can revert the changes in the master data.

Ensuring user enter value in the fields before proceeding to another fields

I am using Oracle APEX 4.1 in oracle 11g R2 database.
Here is the case, I have build a custom form in which there are 20 fields. I want to ensure that end user enters value in sequence one by one.
For example:-
First Name should be entered before Last name or Date of birth.
Please help guys...

Use dynamic actions for that and disable the element Last Name if the element First Name is empty. Enable it if the First Name is entered.

Validation of column fields while entering values in editable ALV

Hi,
I am currently working on a ALV,I have to validate the editable field of ALV,while entering values.SO if there is a field Item number,the range should be between M01-M99,and user should not take any value other than the F4 help assigned to the field.Can all this calculation be done using a FM & Not OOPs process for making ALV.

Entering values in the layout

Dear All,
In IP, I have created one layout by taking 'Project' in the rows section, 'Fiscal Year Period' and 'Amount' in the columns. When I execute the query I am getting 'no table data found ' message. This is because there is no data in the cube.
But, I want the format/header to be displayed atleast so that the user can enter values in that format.

Hi,
Have you restricted period in columns to single value? If you are creating individual columns with single value for period in each column, then this can work, but if you are creating multiple (dynamic) columns, using period above key figure(s), then new blank rows wont appear in case there is no data.
Also, in the layout (in case its in web), you need to specify no. of blank rows required at the bottom of layout.

Unable to enter value in editable field of ALV (set_current_cell_via_id)

In the Editable screen of ALV, I have to set the cursor on the 3rd field 'VBELN' ( which is editable ).
Using the method set_current_cell_via_id of ALV grid the focus has been set on the particular field. The field Sales order 'VBELN' is already set as editable (EDIT = 'X').
But still I am unable to enter values unless and until I click anywhere on the screen.
Please help me with the solution.

Believe it or not, the same FM worked for me in a dynpro. I will try to explain here how it works in custom screen and then you can do your work for other screens or program types. I am not going to write my actual work but will explain in general.
I have 4 fields (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4) and i made the search based on FLD2 and when user click on a line (could be any field), then this would bring the line on to the screens.
There are like 3 steps.
You have your value_tab for my fields FLD1, FLD2, FLD3 and FLD4. This is just the data that we pass into the FM. (data: IT_VALTAB type table of ZVAL_TABLE)
Next map the screen fields into an internal table (data: It_dynpfld type table of dselc ). I also have other internal tables defined (just to keep it straight, i will be putting here) data: It_return type standard table of ddshretval.
Next step is to call the function module. Make sure you have values in IT_VALTAB.
