    Hmmm, okay, here are some download pages for version 6.2 of the Palm Desktop and HotSync software. You can see that regardless of the carrier, the actual file you download is exactly the same.

  • Treo 650, Bluetooth, Internet access, and 10.4.6

    I have a Treo 650 on Cingular's network and would like to use it to connect to the internet using the Treo as a modem via bluetooth. I called Cingular and obtained the following information:
    User name: [email protected],
    password: CINGULAR1,
    connection string:7**#.
    (BTW this information is public.)
    I haven't spent a whole lot of time attempting to connect to the internet however I was able to pair the device with my computer and enter in the information that Cingular supplied. Of course they don't support this so I was unable to get a modem script which a few other providers seem to supply via their websites.
    I was curious if anyone else has a similar set up and has been able to connect successfully with reasonable speeds and up time. If so can you please provide the information that was used for the set up?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Oh also I am aware of the latest update version 10.4.6 of Mac OS and was wondering if this update adds better support for the Treo 650?
    G3, G4, G5, iMac G5, Xserve G5, XRaid, PowerBook, iBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Have used every Mac OS since version 8 to date.

    I do this with a Treo 650 and the MBP on T-Mobile and it works fine.
    I don't know about password so I can't comment. On T-Mobile you don't really need it.
    For connection string I'm sure it must be wrong. Every GSM phone in the world uses something like 99*1# (or similar with 1 substitute with something else). That is what I use.
    The other issue is the modem script. I've had mixed success until I used the shareware program called GPRS script generator ( http://www.macronsoft.com/pages/en/gsg.html ). It's costs to get it generate a script, but I use the one it made for T-Mobile and it's worked flawlessly with several devices including the Treo 650.

  • Versa Mail sync for Treo 650

    The company I work for recently changed the email server to an exchange server with Outlook as the front end application. Before we had an Oracle conduit to interface our Outlook applicaton with the prior email server and I was able to sync my Treo 650 with the server using a company-supplied interface and Chapura PocketMirror. Now with the exchange server, my company provides the Versa Mail application 3.5.4 but it only supports Treo 700 with 1.10 VZW software version. Can I use this software setup with my Treo 650? If not, is there a Versa Mail version that will allow my Treo 650 to sync? I only want my Treo to sync with the system, I'm not interested in receiving emails directly to my smartphone. Please help.

    What is the Exchange Server version? Is it 2007 or 2003? You should be able to sync with server 2003 with the version on the phone.

  • Software Installation CD for Treo 650

    I received a Treo 650 as a gift, but there is no CD in the box.  I went on-line and the owner's manual references a software installation CD that is needed to synch things up, etc.  Is the CD available through my wireless phone service provder (Verizon)?  Can I download the information directly to my PC some other way?  The phone looks like it will be terrific... when I can get it fully functional  THANK YOU!!!

    I have a ZEN Vision M and had no problem installing the Creative software on my windows Vista system. Upon placing the ZEN cd in my player I was prompted as to what action to take with the CD, I selected RUN.EVE. Then I was asked to verify that I wanted to allow the install application to run. t that point all I had to do was answer the Creative questions to install the software. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and the Creative Media Source version is 3.30.35.

  • Error when installing CD Software for Treo 650

    For some reason or another, it does not look like their are any scratches on my installation CD that I got with my Treo 650, but when I go to do the install, it almost completes the install and then it gives me an error message that says: Error 1316.A  network error occurred while attempting to read from the file
    C:\WINDOWS\Installer\palmOne.msi
    I have no idea of why I can not install this CD to my computer, any help?
    I no that this CD comes with the software so that I can sync my Treo with my Outlook, and that is all I am trying to do at this time.

    taoryu, Welcome to the discussion area!
    First of all how do you post a new topic on Apple Discussions.
    It' very simple:
    You go to the Apple.com > Support > Discussions > Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard > Mail and Address Book discussion area.
    Click on the link titled "Post New Topic".
    I have some friends who have prying eyes. I have some valuable information come through apple mail. They are not on the computer that often, so I'd rather NOT make a separate user account, but for the few times they are, I don't want Apple Mail so easy to access. Is there a way of securing the information like a password. EVERY email application I've seen has this option, Apple Mail must have something similar. Any ideas???
    You already know the answer. Create a separate OS X user account and force them to log into that.

  • Problems syncing with iCal and Treo 650

    I use iSync for syncing my iBook G4, .Mac, iPod Photo and Treo 650. It has worked fine until a month ago. The iSync conduit somehow works OK with the Contacts/Address Book, but doesn't for the Tasks and Calendar (iCal). It is a real pain the to write everything manually on the Treo and the iBook separately. Can anyone help me with this? I really don't want to replace (reset) all the info on my Treo; this will cause me to re-categorize everything in the Treo, for iSync doesn't take care of it as far as I know. Thanks, ~L

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    What does your HotSync log say about these unsuccessful attempts to synchronize your Treo 650?
    While it is important to correct this problem, if you want support for categories, calendar colors, contact photographs or icons, extended electronic mail addresses, URL and birthday data, you should ditch iSync in favor of the Missing Sync for Palm OS, a much more powerful and reliable program:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
    On advanced Palm organizers and smartphones like your Treo 650, extended support is available as outlined in this document, for contacts…
    http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=2560
    …and this document, for events and tasks:
    http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=2563
    In addition, it supports internet sharing, Finder mounting and file transfer with SD cards, conduit profiles, iPhoto and iTunes media file synchronization, the synchronization of AvantGo content, and network synchronization of supported devices.

  • Sprint Treo 650 connection with Apple Powerbook G4 867 MHz runing 10.4.6 ??

    I am trying to use my Sprint Treo 650 as a modem with the Apple Powerbook laptop running the latest version of Tiger.
    The old Treo 600 worked just fine using the laptop with 10.3.7.
    But the old 600 died and I was forced to purchase a 650.
    The Treo 650 manual says its possible to use the Treo 650 as a modem. The Apple manual says its possible to use a mobile phone as a modem.
    I have actually gotten to the point where, after inserting "passords" like 654379 on my Treo after they were issued by the Apple. I've been told:
    "Congratulations, you are connected"
    They lie to me.
    I've read about "hacks" for the TREO and the need to install special scripts. The instructions go for 26 written pages.
    Is there not an easier way? These are the kind of things that make me not even want to visit the Apple Store ever again.
    And I love my Apples!
    Thanks for letting me vent.
    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Don't know if it makes a difference (I don't think it does), but I have no problem connecting Treo 650 (Sprint Vision service) to my MBP 10.4.6 as a wireless modem. Make sure that you have the latest firmware on Treo 650 that enables DUN (Dial Up Network) on BT pref.
    I just simply used the OSX BT setup, making sure that my 650 is discoverable and with a code (paired) for security. It is also using 650 serial port as RS232 port.
    Connecting to 650 is done through Network connection on system Pref or via Airport menu. Under BT, configure as Other, the number to dail is #777 with account name and password to your Sprint Vision account (not your Sprint main account login or pw). It should be something like [email protected] for account name and corresponding password for that.
    I think this is all you need to do. Did not use any hacks (in fact I completely stay away from Hacks - I have simple needs and want to keep things simple).
    You'll have to probably try few times to get it all right and connect but it should not be too bad.
    Hope this helps
    Good luck....

  • ISync, Palm Treo 650, and my sanity

    Just bought a Palm Treo 650 this evening and I'm having the hardest time.
    Been trying to iSync via USB with mixed luck. I installed the software that came with the phone, made sure my HotSync settings were correct, and hit the Hotsync button on the USB cable.
    Nothing happened for several tries. Was as if the cable was broken as the Palm just couldn't contact the computer and would eventually time out.
    Then when I used the AC adapter along with the USB I got a different result. The Palm and Mac were now talking. But it did give me errors regarding the conduits being in conflict. So I changed the settings on some of the conduits and I finally got a successful sync.
    Well semi-successful. Some of the stuff didn't seem to be syncing. Like some of my iCal entries. So I found an article showing how to drag some of the conduits to the Disabled folder. Which I did. And now ever since I cannot seem to get the the Palm and Mac to talk again. I get the "Connecting with the desktop using Cradle/Cable" for a while and then the "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."
    Anyone know where I'm going wrong? Would really appreciate some help/advice.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    There are apparently several issues in play here. So long as you are willing to live the the limitations of the iSync Palm Conduit and synchronize via only one path—either USB or Bluetooth, but not selectively moving back and forth between the two—you can configure iSync to synchronize contact data with the Address Book and calendaring and task data with iCal.
    With the exception of non-conflicting conduits like Memos, you will be unable to synchronize at all with the Palm Desktop. [Palm conduits which conflict with iSync are those used by various models to synchronize contacts—Address Conduit and Contact Conduit—those used to synchronize calendars—Calendars Conduit and Datebook Conduit—and those used to synchronize tasks—Tasks Conduit and ToDo Conduit.]
    Unless you thoroughly understand how this technology works, it's not a great idea to 'experiment' by moving conduits manually. A properly configured Conduits folder for iSync users should contain at least…
    • Apple [the Finder name of the iSync Palm Conduit]
    • Backup
    • Install
    • Memos Conduit [only if you want to continue to synchronize memos to the Palm Desktop]
    • any non-conflicting third-party or additional conduits you want to use
    Other conduits should reside in the Disabled Conduits folder.
    You add a Palm device, either via USB or Bluetooth, using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option under the Devices menu of iSync. You set the synchronization parameters for your device in the drop-down configuration pane exposed when you press the Tungsten icon in the main window of iSync.
    You did the right thing by installing the Palm Desktop software using the bundled CD-ROM that shipped with your Treo 650. But, you should have upgraded that application by applying the Palm Desktop 4.2.1 revision D, available here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html
    If you elect to upgrade your copy, just run that installer. Do not attempt to remove any existing components of the Palm Desktop. And keep in mind that though you may not choose to use it at all, its HotSync Manager and Transport Monitor components are critical to the operation of iSync.

  • Mac and PC syncing of Treo 650?

    I had been successfully syncing my Treo 650 via BT using iSync until recently. I decided to sync via USB cable to my PC at work. This latter operation worked just fine, but when I took my Treo home and tried to sync via BT like normal it didn't work. The error said that "this user name is already in use by another handheld device". I have no other device with this name. I've searched for an answer on these forums and as well as treocentral.com and have no luck finding a fix. What dumb thing have I done to cause this problem and is there an easy fix for it? Thank you!!!

    If your Nano is formatted for a PC, it can be read by both a PC and a Mac but the software can only be updated from a PC. If you have chosen to manually manage your music, you can add music from both. If your Nano is formatted for a Mac, it can only be read by a Mac. Reformatting a Nano (by using the Restore option in iTunes) will delete everything on it.

  • Sync Problem with Treo 650

    When I try to sync my Treo 650 with Oracle Calendar, it does not work,. The Oracle Calendar log says, "The sync client service could not find a mandatory preference." When I go into CalendarSync settings, there is no time zone selected, and there are no options to select -- the box is empty. I have found other threads on the web regarding this which suggest removing a registry entry which will then get CalendarSync to function properly, but that fix has not worked for me. Does anyone have a fix? Does Oracle know about this problem? judging from the postings on the web, lots of people are encountering it.

    I have tried this fix that was posted on the forum, but it doesn't work. The date setting showed up in Calendar Sync settings, but as soon as I tried a HotSync it disappeared and my calendar did not synchronize. The following is the fix posted on the forum -- as far as I can tell, it does not work. Does anyone out there (Oracle people?) know what's going on?
    "I was having the same problem on my Treo 650. Don't know if this will work for you, but it did for me (at least, it's working right at this moment).
    "I'd installed Calendar Sync for Palm 10.1.1 on my Windows box and experienced "small heap" errors when syncing. At this point, I could see the timezone settings. Couldn't find anything on the small heap error, so I went to palm.com and downloaded/installed the latest Desktop software 4.1.4e, then reinstalled Calendar Sync. This is when I noticed there was a blank menu in the setup screen for the timezones. After poking around in the registry, I found the following:
    1. "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Calendar Sync for Palm" appears to contain all the correct calendar sync configurations settings.
    2. "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Calendar Sync for Palm" also existed that basically contained blank keys. I deleted this hierarchy, went back to my settings, and the proper timezone showed up, along with all the other timezone settings.
    I don't know if this was a fluke, or if it will continue to work, but the next time I synced, it worked.
    After this worked, I uninstalled Calendar Sync and manually removed registry entry #1 aobve. I then reinstalled the Calendar Sync and checked the registry-- only the one mentioned in #1 was there, and everything worked fine. I'm curious to know if this works for you.

  • Can't HotSync - Vista 32 won't doesn't recognize my Treo 650 (Sprint)

    I just purchased a Windows Vista32 laptop (Dell 1737).  I've installed Palm Desktop 6.2 (with HotSync Manger 7.0.2).  I can't get the hotsync to work.  I think it related to the fact that when I connect my Treo 650 to the laptop via a USB cable, I don't see a reference in the device manager to a Palm device being connected to the machine.
    If I select the Add Hardware function from the control panel and look at hardware types that can be manually setup, I can see an entry for "Palm OS Handheld Devices", but it grayed out and can't be selected.
    Any thoughts on how to get Vista32 to recognize that the device is connected?  Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to response.

    You may need to "clean" uninstall Palm desktop and start again. It sounds like the drivers are not loading.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    Palm One. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy.
    Then go to your PC desktop, right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    Skip the first step above because you have no data in Palm desktop.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer. Like the above folder, delete the Palm folder. Once this is done, you will need to delete some registry keys
    from your PC Operating System registry.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    to not start up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything
    they need to delete. To retain your current Registry settings, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    On the PC, go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
    Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As
    box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents or you can change to a location you will remember. In the file name box, type "Regbackup[todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are
    you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer
    Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
    you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you
    did not sync before you create a hotsync name.
