Many JavaFX issues pushed out of JavaFX 8 (to 9) today

I received a bunch of emails today from Jira as Kevin Rushforth triaged numerous JavaFX Runtime issues out of JavaFX 8. I read through The openjfx-dev Archives and didn't see any plans announced for a major triaging effort or how to respond if your issue is pushed out of the release.
Some of these issues are regressions introduced in JavaFX 8 and others are important bugs that my company and our customer needs resolved in JavaFX 8.
Here are the main issues that I would like to see fixed in JavaFX 8 that were triaged to JavaFX 9 today:
WebView select bug: https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-33717
WebView select bug: https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-16078
Regression: https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-32355
I made a comment in the issue to this effect, but I'm not sure that will make any difference.
What is the process to go through in order to get these issues looked at in JavaFX 8?

Hi all,
I'm an engineer in the JavaFX team, and I thought I'd just clarify a few things. Firstly, we're now in rampdown for Java / JavaFX 8.0. This means we are (and have been) actively moving low priority work out of this release and retargeting it at 9.0. Right now we are only working on what we call P1-P3 bugs (or, in Jira terms, showstopper, critical, and major bugs), and in fact we are also deferring many major bugs out of 8.0 too.
This is not because we don't value your bug reports or think lesser of you as a human being - it is that we work to a schedule and the 8.0 train is getting close to leaving the station, and we have to be on it. This requires us to get our actual bugs in the 8.0 release to zero, which requires the deferrals that you're now seeing happening. And, to be clear, we think the JavaFX community is wonderful ;-)
It is very important to understand that just because we are retargeting our work to 9.0 does not mean that these bugs won't be fixed until whenever 9.0 is released! Once 8.0 is out the door (well, once we stop working on it, because there is a long period between the engineers stopping the bulk of their 8.0 work and the 8.0 release actually coming out) we will all fully evaluate our backlogs and target many of these bugs to the interim 8.x releases. This means that many of these bugs will be fixed next year in follow-up releases to 8.0, just as we have done with follow-up releases to JavaFX 2.x.
So, in other words, targeting to 9.0 is a placeholder for us to say 'some release in the future'. You can of course leave comments to impress on us the importance of your favourite bugs (and I encourage you to do that and also vote). Unless we hear from the community on the bugs that are important to them they tend to get prioritised by the engineers based on their own opinions, which doesn't necessarily show us the full picture.
To answer KonradZuse's comment about 9 and "Van Ness": we did call the project "Van Ness" in jira for quite some time, but we had people complain (on openjfx-dev I believe) that Van Ness was meaningless, so we changed our jira to instead just use version numbers, hence 8u5, 8u20, 9, etc. For all intents and purposes "Van Ness" was a nebulous phrase intended to mean "some future release", so we've basically tightened up our definitions a bit by splitting Van Ness into a number of versions now.
I hope that helps to clarify some things. In short, we're working as hard as we can, and definitely want to keep you happy. Get on to jira and leave bug reports or comments on bug reports. Do not count on comments left in these forums to necessarily reach the engineers responsible for the bugs - go to them via jira.

Issue with ARD 3.0 not pushing out Installs, Says its installing but not
Has anyone seen this. It seems to happen with ARD 3, have not seen this in ARD 2.
I go to the Install Packages on Target Computers, put in: 10.4.7 Combo (for the correct CPU, PPC or Intel), security updates, QT 7.1.2, etc.
Push it to Macs I can connect to, observe and control.
The progress bar copies the files (in some instances it does not) and then it just hangs there, bar does not move, Installs never finish, not good, very odd.

Is it the same clients that have the problem every time? Are those clients doing anything cpu intensive? Have you tried rebooting the affected clients?
Maybe try a smaller package on those clients.

• Pushing out a .wmv

I am trying to crunch out a .wmv from Final Cut for a client (they want a .wmv.) I shot in HD and used AVCHD file type. I pushed out the .mov with no problem. What are the best specs to use to push out a .wmv? I tried:
Export using: WMV 9 standard
CBR
Quality Sharp/Best
Bit rate 300
In the Advanced tab I did key frame every 8 seconds
Interlace lower field first
Output progressive
Audio 48kbps, 44.1 khz Mono
The audio sounds fine, but the image is skipping many frames and moving slow. I have Flip for Mac, so that is not the issue.
Thoughts?

I have Flip for Mac...
But do you have the paid for version or the free one?
The free version only lets you export half of the video up to a maximum of thirty seconds.

• Error U44M1I210 - None of the NEW Mac's can install the latest updates Adobe CC is pushing out.

Here is the problem:
I have 3 new Macs (iMac, MacBookPro, Mac Pro trash can)
All 3 do have adobe CC installed with programs working at the moment.
However with the most recent updates to Premiere, AE, Photoshop and Media Encoder that Adobe CC is pushing out, none of the computers can update to them.
Receiving Error code U44M1I210
Here is a system spec:
For the Mac Pro, OSX 10.9.3 - 64GB Ram - 2.7GHz 12-core Xeon E5
What I have tried:
I have tried to do the updates from work, over wireless, and wired.
From Home wireless.
And from a Hotel wireless.
Older MacPros running CC but limited to CS6 Apps only, DO update over the same network as the Mac's that can not.
Strange? yes!
Why I think Adobe has made some type of coding mistake with New Apple Products:
All 3 computers could not install these recent updates, but could install CC originally (about a month prior to the updates), and made made other small updates prior to this as well.
The various locations I have tried to connect from have all failed, so I doubt it is a firewall issue.
Adobe's Help line, had took control of my Mac Pro for about 2 hrs and could not figure out why it would not update.
They uninstalled, reinstalled, the works...
The issues has now been in limbo for a week.
Will I ever be able to make an update to CC on any of my machines?
Since we are paying a lot of money for Adobe's services, and have paid a lot of money for these new computers, that is my question.
Thanks

Thanks Jeff,
However when the Adobe tech support person took control of my Mac Pro, this was one of the processes they tried that failed to produce results.
They reviewed the log files as well.
The downloads would fail after they reached 50%.
What does seem to be working for me, at least for Premiere and Media Encoder is manually installing the updates from this site:
All Adobe CC 2014 Updates: The Direct Download Links for Mac OS | ProDesignTools

• How can we stop iPrint from pushing out printers?

Is there a global way to stop iPrint Client Management from pushing out printers? Or, is there a way to report on all group objects that have a printer assignment? We are trying to stop printers from being pushed, but we have 100+ group assignments, as well as some printers that are specifically assigned to users. Trying to find them all and then change them all is going to be a difficult task. We're hoping there's a setting in the Driver Store or Print Manager that we missed.
Thanks,

• Pushing out a script to run via ARD

I have the following script I am running into two issues with
1) Instead of running it as root, can we run as a member of the admin group.
2) Can this be pushed out via ARD?
#!/bin/bash
#This script needs to run as root
ROOT_UID=0
if [[ $UID -ne $ROOT_UID ]]; then
echo "YOU MUST BE ROOT TO RUN THIS SCRIPT"
exit 1
fi
OLD="<string>The owner or any administrator can unlock the screensaver.</string>"
NEW="<string>(Use SecurityAgent.) The owner or any administrator can unlock the screensaver.</string>"
cp /private/etc/authorization /tmp/auth.tmp
sed "s/$OLD/$NEW/" /tmp/auth.tmp > /tmp/authorization
mv /private/etc/authorization /private/etc/authorization.previous
mv /tmp/authorization /private/etc/authorization
rm /tmp/auth.tmp

Do not remove the "root user reference" from the script. Without "the reference" the script will place a modified authorization file in the /tmp directory. To modify the /private/etc/authorization file you must be root or an admin user with the proper authorization (You would use sudo in the shell environment). Here's a safer and cleaner version of that script->
#!/bin/bash
OLD="<string>The owner or any administrator can unlock the screensaver.</string>"
NEW="<string>(Use SecurityAgent.) The owner or any administrator can unlock the screensaver.</string>
# use sed to make a backup of the original file then edit the file in place
/usr/bin/sed -i.previous "s/$OLD/$NEW/" /private/etc/authorization

• Windows Updates constantly failing and reverting after SCCM 2012 R2 pushes out updates

Hi folks,
I wonder could anyone help me with a strange problem I am having!
We use SCCM 2012 R2 and I am trying to roll out updates to a Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64 bit server.
When I deploy the updates to the server they get to the server and install but during the reboot it says Windows Modules Installer for a while then shows the failure configuring Windows Updates, reverting changes screen.
I’ve tried the suggestions of disabling 'Windows Management Instrumentation' and 'Windows Modules Installer' and renaming the repository folder but still no joy.
If I use Windows Update to install the updates the updates do go on but then when I add it to the collection in SCCM to push out the patches it sees the server as if the updates aren’t installed and begins doing the installs.
After the patches installs using SCCM and when the server is rebooted it goes back into the loop of saying Windows Modules Installer and reverts the updates and strips out the patches again.
I was hoping that when the Windows Updates were installed via Windows Update and once I put the server into the collection to push out the updates to the server it would have shown that the updates are already installed on the server and show that server
as being compliant in SCCM but unfortunately that isn’t happening.
It sights a couple of errors in the Setup event logs on the offending server: -
For multiple patches - Package KBXXXXXXX failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x80070643
For multiple patches - Initiating changes for package KBXXXXXXX. Current state is Invalid Resolved. Target state is Installed. Client id: WindowsUpdateAgent.
After doing some research,
0x80070643 refers to a .Net Framework issue so I’ve ran a .Net Repair tool but that didn’t work either so I’m running out of ideas so any help would be greatly appreciated on how I can get this sever updated using SCCM and showing as compliant.
Thanks,
Bonemister

Hi Torsten,
Thanks for your reply!
I was afraid you were going to say that as it just doesn't make sense that when I install the update using Windows Update via the Ire-nternet and when the install and re-scan no updates are required. It is only when I ask SCCM to check for patches
that it sees updates are missing and installed the updates before the OS reverts when.
Is there a way in SCCM to remove the record of what patches have been installed onto a particular server? I tried deleted the server out of SCCM then applying the Windows Updates via the web then added the server back into SCCM and see did it pick
up the newly installed updates on the server.
The thing is I don't think that WindowsUpdate.log will show any failures as Windows update is showing as no more updates required. It is just when SCCM installs that patches that the problem happens so that is what is leading me to think it is an SCCM
problem.
My main goal is to get the updates into the server and for it so show as complient!
I'll check back through the even logs again. Are they any SCCM logs that show patches failing to install and why?
Thanks again,
Bonemister

• Push out Adober Reader changes to Macs

I have a network with both Windows and Mac clients that use Adobe Reader. I already know how to use Active Directory Group Policy to push the necessary registry changes so that my Windows based clients can have their Adobe Reader settings updated.
However, for my Mac users where the settings exist in .plist files, I have been searching for a way to centrally update these same settings (I'm interested in pushing out security related settings when Adobe releases security advisories saying that the mitigation is to ensure that certain settings are in place until a full blown patch is released).
Does anyone know how to push out .plist settings changes from a central point similar to what AD Group Policy allows with registry changes?
Thanks,
Brandon

I ran into this issue some time ago as well and wrote just such a script!
Here's an exerpt from my documentation:
Lastly we need to add the Printer via the command line. Here's how:
First thing we need to do is copy the PPD file to the correct location. By default it's in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/
The PPD in question can be found specifically by typing lpinfo -m This lists all of the printer drivers available to cups.
You must copy the gz file using sudo. It needs to be copied to /usr/share/cups/model/
The copy command looks like this:
sudo cp /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/HP\ LaserJet\ P3010\ Series.gz /usr/share/cups/model/
Once there, you run the script to install it.
I've left the scripts in the Public/Techy Stuff for each printer we use in the highschool.
So, the command looks like this. It's a bit of a trick cause figuring out the details as to how it's supposed to work just by looking in the man pages usually *****.
I'll explain... The command is as follows:
lpadmin -p LabLaser -E -v socket://192.168.1.11 -m HP\ LaserJet\ 1320\ Series.gz -o printer-is-shared=false
lpadmin -p LabLaser adds the printer and calls it "LabLaser"
-E forces encryption while connecting to the server. It's probably not necessary but it's in all the examples on the web that I could find.
-v gives you the opportunity to specify the location of the printer. In ***** case they're all network printers with valid IP addresses and MDNS addresses, so yeah. socket:// for standard IP printing protocol (IPP) mdns:// for bonjour.
Get the mdns name from lpinfo -m
...the -m specifies the name of the PPD. See above. (this is the driver that I copied to /usr/share/cups/model/)
-o is pretty self explanitory... However I feels it's extremely important. This will prevent the printer from showing up in the bonjour list of printers on the network even if the user has printer sharing turned on.
Hope this helps!
-Graham

• Why did you push out your CEO for his political and religious beliefs?

It's sad that you chose to push out a CEO for his personal belief. What happened to freedom? I have happily deleted you from my devices and will continue to encourage others to do the same. Shame on you!

Would it really hurt you to ask for facts on what happened with Brendan Eich? before assuming the worst happened instead?. One could say shame on you for not asking first.
The knew about his 2008 donation as it was public record (due to California law on donations with name and employer being listed) and supported him for who he is to promote him from CTO to CEO. This was not found out after he became CEO as some mistakenly believed.
Unfortunately some media outlets will rather publish sensationalized stories generating many clicks and increased revenue by ads than perform the most basic fact-checking or even posting the truth.
In fact Brendan refused to step down (as first link from day before shows) due to the pressure from outside campaigning to get him to resign as CEO. However it just got so bad in increasing attacks that he felt he could no longer be an effective leader with people constantly attacking him. He decided to leave as his way of helping Mozilla however this then triggered attacks more towards Mozilla due to the misconceptions made by individuals and article writers thinking was fired or forced out.

• Pushing out a billing date through a project - affect the pricing in a SO

Hello
I have two sales orders for a customer with same terms of payment, pricing procedure and everything almost similar except dates (say billing dates). the company is mainly using project systems. they are using billing plans. even the billing plans, billing types are also same.
The Issue is that, for one sales order it picking the Gross Value (present in document header -> Condition tab) as Net Value for the sales order. However for the another sales order it is picking the Total (present in document header -> Condition tab) as Net Value for the sales order.
Can anyone please explain me why the system is behaving like that, what is the mistake I did. I want the system to pick total value.
"pushing out a billing date through a project would affect the pricing in a sales order. the netted discount is not showing any more." - this is the issue

• Pushing out Apps to iPad without Apple ID credentials!

When are Apple going to allow educational institutes and business push out apps without requiring the apple ID and Password. Im not the only one to mention this! Very common issue!
Whenever we push out an app using our MDM tool, it asks for the Apple ID password! Our only option is to give the password to the teacher or student, but then we risk them logging into the online account and locking us out! (changing the password and security details etc...)
Somthing NEEDS! to be done here, Ive been frantically Googling for days trying to find a work around that DOSENT involve the Apple Configurator (with **** USB cables!) and i KNOW im not the only person in this situation....
Or at least have a layered password facility so that if we do give out a password to the teacher or student, the password they have cant do anything but install apps... that might work...
Apple really need to look at this!

I'd give apple a call. I think that I read that you do not need to enter the password with iOS 7 for app updates.
Until something better comes along.

• Software update scan cycle not pushed out to new clients

I have a very odd problem that I'm not fully understanding why it is happening. I have my SCCM server pushing out updates to my clients and it works just fine. The issue happens when I push out SCCM to a new client. Heres what happens as
far as updates go when I push SCCM out to a new client:
-Push out SCCM to client
-Client suddenly starts looking to Microsoft for Windows Updates
The only way I can get it to change its policy to look to my WSUS/SCCM server is to manually run the "Software updates scan cycle" job on the client. As soon as I do that then the clients Updates show it is manged by the systems admin, which
is what I want.
My question is why is this policy not pushed out by default as soon as I push out a new client? I shouldn't have to wait 7 days for the client to look back at the software policy before it updates because by then its already downloaded 100 new updates
from Microsoft, which I don't want. Does anyone else know how to fix this? Hopefully it all makes sense.

Yeah I tried to build my own custom client settings package and push it out with the client, but it still didn't change anything. I can get on the client before I push out the SCCM client to it and look at gpedit.msc and go to Comp Config > Admin
Temp > Windows Components > Windows Update > and it shows all fields are set to "Not Configured." Once I push the SCCM client to the client I can go back to that same location and check and all the fields are still set to "Not
configured." But when I manually go into that clients control panel and select Configuration manager > Actions tab > Software updates scan cycle > Run now, I can then go back into the gpedit and under windows Update the Specify intranet
Microsoft update service location will then have the FQDN of my SCCM/WSUS server in there so it works then, but for some reason its not doing that part automatically.

• 2.2.1 (?) being pushed out today

I just got off the phone with Verizon and I was told a second Froyo update will be pushed out today. Supposedly this update will correct the battery and incoming calls not ringing issues among others. WIll have to wait and see.

It is being reported on another forum that the upgrade is ED03. Current is ED01. I haven't seen anything official yet from VZW.
