MANY smtp server listings in iphone email...

I have my email (IMAP) set up, and when I go to settings/mail.../account/smtp/ I see a list of about 8 smtp servers (all the same exact one/settings) listed under "Other SMTP Servers". All are set to 'off'.
Why are these there and how do I remove them?
Thanks

BAM 11g uses UMS (like other components in SOA 11g) to send email. Take a look at the following document

  • SMTP Server issues on iPhone

I use an IMAP email account administered by my university and I have it set up on my iPhone 4. The incoming mail server works fine on both wifi and 3G but the smtp server only works on wifi. If I attempt to send a message while on 3G the phone attempts to send for about 5 minutes and then gives up. I called TELUS and they had me add their smtp server smtp.telus.net which works fine for sending emails on 3G but an error message pops up when I try to use it on wifi.
I currently have my university smtp server as the primary server and the TELUS server as secondary and this works ok except that when i try to send a message on 3G the phone tries the university server for at least 5 minutes before switching to the TELUS server. If I set the TELUS server as primary the phone gives me an error message right away if I try to send on wifi and won't even try the secondary server.
Does anyone know a way to make it so that the phone will send the message with the correct server without waiting 5 minutes to send each message?
    Thanks

With one of my users this same issue was occurring.
No matter if he used ATT primary SMTP or our SMTP server as a primary/secondary, going from 3G to wifi and around the environments through out his day would always end up with either side going well and the other end not sending at all.
We used this work-around I saw posted in some other forum:
Disable the primary (whatever SMTP it is set to) SMTP selection.
Put both 3G SMTP and local SMTP as secondary servers and active.
For some reason if the primary fails to connect, the switch to secondary does not seem to occur or does not occur within the time-out period causing mail sending errors. With the primary SMTP setting disabled, both servers in the secondary list will be checked promptly with no issues.

  • SMTP Server set up for emailing

Can anyone advise which BO documents sets out the procedure for setting up the job server for emailing, etc? The Admin and deployment guides talk about it, but don't specify how it's done.
    Thanks.

CMC > servers > job server > destinations
enable SMTP and configure the default options from there. Some information may be required from your email admin.
Then schedule a report (that uses that job server) and select email as a destination. You will have the ability to select a specific address or use the default (configured on the job server in the 1st step). The accounts used will have to have access to send to the email SMTP server.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Outgoing SMTP server refuse to send email on 3G network

I am frequently using my Iphone5 to reply to my Hotmail. Recently, the phone (when I am on 3G) has started to refuse sending my emails. Message on screen says "Cannot send mail. The user name or passwrod for "SMPT:[email protected]@smtp.live.com" is incorrect". The problem is I have not changed my password without also changing the outgoing mailservers. I receive incoming emails all the time, also when on 3G (which makes it more weird when incoming mail server is fine, but not outgoing). Then, as soon as I get wifi, the emails are being sent as they should. But not as long as I am on 3G. My husband is experiencing exactly the same problem. Pls help... many thanks,

I don't think that [email protected]@smtp.live.com" is the correct name for the SMPT server.  I would check that setting

  • SMTP Server not responding to emails sent to 1 address externally

I've set up a mail server on a 10.4.11 machine. Everything was working fine until I accidentally deleted my personal account via Workgroup manager, I figured since it was IMAP I could just recreate it and everything would work as it once did. It didn't, now when I send emails to that address, the smtp log shows nothing, but yet I do not receive a failure message back to the sender. However, the messages sent internally from other addresses in that server work properly. In summation, I can't use an external address to send emails to one of my accounts, the smtp log doesn't even show an attempt made to connect to the server.
Also, all the other addresses work fine.

Ok, so I used mailfbr to try and fix it anyways, just to see what would happen. That didn't fix it, so I thought I could use the Backup program and just restore to an earlier point to see if the original settings could be restored, tat didn't work either, that totally messed everything up worse. I've had problems connecting to the lmtp socket, reading the mailbox file, permissions, but I think I've fixed all those. The only problem now is that everything gets stuck in the queue. I've checked these topics almost the whole day for these problems, but the cause and solution are not the same for me. Anything I can do? Or should I just start fresh again?

  • Trashing SMTP server listings??

i have a boatload of SMTP servers listed in Mail settings on my iphone 5 using ios7. in most cases these are duplicates.
i am having trouble getting this error message and i would like to clean up this section of my settings and basically start again with SMTP settings. is there a way to delete all the junk in here?
feels like i have been carrying this around since iphone 3 ios-beginning-of-time.
    THANKS

I don't think that matters, but here's an older document:
iCloud- Configuring Mail with Mac OS X v10.6 or iOS 4

  • Send iCloud email from alternative smtp server?

How do I send iCloud email from alternative smtp server? The setting is 'greyed out' on my iPhone so I cannot tell iCloud to use another server.
The reason is so I can have my outgoing email appear from my own domain email address rather than my me.com address. Mobileme would allow this - and Mail on the Mac does allow it, but the iPhone under iOS 5 seems not to allow it....
    Any ideas?

I have spent about 4-6 hours working directly with folks from Tim Cooke's office, various support levels, and through them their engineers.
As much as I tried to convince them their logic is flawed, the engineers for iCloud come back and say this is expected behavior because somehow it helps secure iCloud from being a spam source. The fine and helpful gentleman from Cooke's office now understands how it is a MobileMail.app client issue, having nothing to do with iCloud servers (because we are in fact trying to bypass their servers) still totes the "it's expected behavior" line from the server engineers.
I have implored him to follow up with the iOS MobileMail app programmers and not the iCloud programmers. I am hopeful he will. Until then you have to choose between having iCloud push and losing your online identity, or losing push email and keeping your preferred address.
Fun to try: turn off all smtp servers. Send email. Gets stuck in outbox. Turn on your preferred smtp server. That one email will use your preferred alternate address, but subsequent ones revert back to the old .me.com smtp servers. Personally I believe this points to a client programming error more than reinstating a preferred behavior. Aggravating!
I spend $500 on a new phone. Google takes away my exchange client ability and apple makes me choose push email vs outgoing email address.

  • I cannot acess some of my emails. Thunderbird keeps saying "connection to SMTP server (email adress) timed out. What does that mean? What do I do please?

I purchased 2 new email, adresses a few weeks ago. Both were fine but a few days ago I was stopped sending and stopped receiving emails on the one. The message comes up on my screen "connection to SMTP server (followed by my email adress) timed out. That does not mean a thing to me. What should I do please?

    Thankyou.
I had been asked by ICANN some days ago to do something but I thought it was a scam so ignored it. Most other users I have spoken to have never heard of ICANN or been asked to 'register' with them or whatever. Anyway, post writing to you I have now 'registered' with them . When I now click on my incoming email adress it just says "failed to connect to server" but why it fails I do not know.

  • How to send email to a SMTP server over a secure channel using STARTTLS setting of a send connector (Exchange and SMTP server are in the same domain)

I’m trying to send email using exchange send connector STARTTLS setting to the SMTP server. I have read multiple documents on configuring TLS for send connector, but they talks about outbound connections to internet facing servers. My Exchange 2013 and SMTP
server is in the same domain (let’s say A.com) and I’m creating dummy domains on my SMTP server (e.g.
    [email protected],
[email protected] ) and their respective send connectors on the exchange server end. In the smart host section added the IP address of the SMTP server and in the scoping section added the SMTP domain address (e.g. dummy1.local ). In the FQDN field, added
the FQDN of the exchange server 2013 which certificate is enabled with SMTP service.
Could you tell me a step by step procedure, where I’m going wrong or any extra settings needs to added?
Presently, it is giving me an error that 530 5.5.1 TLS encrypted connection is required.
Note: I’ve created the Microsoft CA certificates for the SMTP and exchange servers and imported them in the personal certificate container. In which, the exchange certificate is created with FQDN name of the server and enabled for the SMTP service.
I’m using OPENSSL certificate for making the SMTP server TLS enabled. (let me know, if I need to import the OPENSSL certificate anywhere on the exchange end)?
    Thanks!

-IgnoreSTARTTLS is set to false on the send connector properties.
I'm trying to established a HTTP over TLS connection. I'm not using mutual TLS between these two server.

    i doubt if it's a verizon issue.

  • Can I change the smtp server with Yahoo push account?

My yahoo email account will send and receive over EDGE using the default yahoo mail settings. On my home Cox internet WiFi network I can retrieve messages but cannot send. When sending it says it was sent and makes the "swooshing" mail sent sound, but the message disappears. It does not appear in the "sent" folder or "drafts" folder either. No error message is returned.
I suspect this is related to Cox blocking the smtp server, but the iPhone does not allow me to change the smtp settings on the default yahoo account. Does anyone know how to do this? I can set it up manually for POP access, but then I'm flooded with spam.

No, you cannot change the SMTP server on the Yahoo push account.
Yahoo push only works if you configure your account using the Yahoo! Mail shortcut on the iPhone, and that shortcut does not allow for ANY customization.

  • Changing verizon primary smtp server??

    hi,
i'd like to change the primary smtp server for my verizon email.
    it's currently set to : outgoing.verizon.net
and according to a recent email from verizon, i should change it to|
    smtp.verizon.net
(all the other info doesn't change (passwords, ports, etc)
if i tweak the primary smtp server and change the hostname from 'outgoing' to 'smtp'
then hit 'done', the settings app crashes and doesn't update the settings.
any help would be appreciated, since i can currently recieve mail, but can't reply on that account!

This probably means that your mail app data are corrupted. First, try resetting the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears. The try to change the setting again. If it still fails, delete the Verizon account, Reset the phone again, and add the account back.

  • What is the AT&T smtp server for? The SSL is set to "off"

I was looking around at my Mail settings on my iPhone and noticed there's an AT&T smtp server window. You access it my Settings/Mail Contacts Cal/one of your email accounts/SMTP server/. At the top is the smtp server for your email address which is on, and below are smtp server panes for your other email accounts which are set to off. But one of those smtp server panes is for the AT&T smtp. For what function is it used for? It's vreyed out but SSL set to OFF for the AT&T smtp and the Yahoo smtp, but all the other smtp's are set to ON for SSL.
Isn't it better for the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to be on? Why is Yahoo's and AT&T's set to OFF. I can't find where to access a non-greyed out AT&T's smtp window pane.

Also, the GSM encryption has been broken a long time ago, but someone whould have to sit between the phone and the basestation to capture and decode the traffic (or they must have access to the network operator's, so called, Legal Intercept interface).

And, AFAIK, the GSM encryption is only in use on the wireless connection between the device and the basestation it is connected to (not on the operator's backbone network, and not when the traffic exits the operator's network and goes to the Internet outside, which it must, in order to get to SMTP servers not in the operator's machine rooms).
And a last point: Even if you use SSL/TLS between the client and the SMTP server, it is not necessarily used from the SMTP server to the receiving email server (which might mean that the message travels through tens of systems unencrypted until it reaches its destination).

  • My external SMTP server went offline

    Hi,
I have been using my domain's SMTP server forever to send emails from my domain's email accounts. All of a sudden last week, the server went off-line.
My hosting provider says that nothing has changed on their end and all the tests I can do seem to agree with their position.
I can send emails from the web-based email application which uses the same server, I can telnet to the server using the same port that I use to connect (465). I can ping the server, but my email application (Apple Mail) will not connect to the server anymore no matter what settings I try.
Has Verizon made any changes to their system that would cause my not to be able to connect to the server?
Although I can get mail out using outgoing.verizon.com, I am having email deliverability issues becasue many of the receiving incoming servers think the email might be spam because the email address is from one domain, but the SMTP server is from another. I have tried to remedy this with updates to the SPF record but that has had limited success.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dom
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have exactly the same problem.
I have been using the same account for years. I can access email through web browser, and forward e-mails to my blackberry. Mac Mail, Mac Outlook, IPAD can no longer access my verizon yahoo email account. I have tried every suggestion to date. Tried every port combination suggested. Deleted all accounts and started from scratch.. Reset IPAD from scratch, with SSL on  and off, and just about every port possible. The last email I recieved through Mail was Feb 3. Downloaded the automated program which didnt work, I tried onlinechat  with Verizon tech, but they claimed that since I could still access email through the web, its an Apple software issue. The Apple store is blaming Verizon for not providing the approprate port info etc to access. And truthfully, with all of the information on the verizon website to set up mail client software, there is no set of rules that seems to apply. Every one is suggesting hit or miss solutions.
Sorry to ramble on, but this is really frustrating, and I am not a novice at this.

  • IPhone email (one acct dead, other receives but won't send)

I usually use Entourage, so I set up email in Mac Mail since that's the program iPhone reads from, correct? I have two email addresses, both with same provider (our own website via Hostway) and I receive and send both accounts fine in MacMail. On the iPhone however, I'm getting email for only one of the two accounts. And for that one that i can receive email from, I can't send to.
I am used to the SMTP settings, but if I change it on the phone won't it just override it the next time it syncs with MacMail, which works fine?
I've tried to look through other threads but I didn't see anything for this specific problem.
    thanks
    enzo

The iPhone only reads settings from mail.app if that option is checked in iTunes under the info tab when the iPhone is connected. You can set up the email on the phone independent of what is on your computer. Are these pop accounts, and what type of error do you receive for the account that can't receive email? And for the account that can't send, what errors are you receiving? A common problem is that the outgoing mail server for most ISPs can only be used when on that ISPs network without authentication. If your ISPs smtp server does not allow authentication from other networks, you'll have to use another smtp server for the outgoing email.
In my case, my cable internet provider's email is received fine, but I cannot send email from that account using their smtp server (either on the phone or my MBP). So I have that account set to use a gmail smtp server instead so it can send email from any network.
