Marvell mv64xx SAS controller and RHEL/CENTOS 5.3

I was able to install RHEL5.2 on my brand new ThinkStation D20 by using the Marvell driver provided here (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72070.html).  However, this driver only works with RHEL5.2 (kernel version 2.6.18-92.el5).
Whenever I try to update the RHEL kernel (the latest is 2.6.18-128.1.14.el5 part of RHEL5.3) I'm not able to boot into linux because it's missing the Marvell SAS driver for that particular kernel. I've been watching Lenovo's website for updated SAS drivers but none have been released.
Any ideas where I can find a kernel module for RHEL5.3 or the 2.6.18-92 -128.1.14.el5 kernel?
Thanks.

welcome to the forum!
unfortunately it looks like that's the newest driver available from lenovo at this time.   you might be able to contact marvell directly for updated drivers.

  • X4200 Lsi SAS Controller and...RAID??

    Hi all,
I've got an X4200 with a 4x73 GB SAS drives.
Accessing to LSI Logic configuration I've discovered something I really didn't like.
With 2 disks on a X4100 server I created a RAID-1 and that's ok but with these 4 disks on X4200 the only things I could choose was:
    1. a stripe of the 4 disks and that's absolutely to avoid :-/
    2. a mirror (R1) of the first couple of disks and the 3rd and 4th disks left alone...
I thought that I was able to create at least a stripe of two disks and then to couple in R-1 with another stripe of the remaining ones...nothing to do
I can understand that I can let the os to manage some R-5 but unfortunately I was installing an ESX server 3 that has no driver for dynamic disks...
    Suggestions?

  • RAID Card/SAS Controller Options for MacPro1,1

What options do I have with a MacPro1,1 for a SAS controller and/or hardware RAID?
The two products on the apple store (linked below) both have unfavorable reviews. It is also unclear what MacPro models the two cards work with.
My target configuration is 4 SAS drives in RAID 5.
Older? 256MB cache raid card: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA849Z/B
Newer? 512MB cache raid card: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB845Z/A
Thank you to for reading and for any assistance you can offer.

Any app on the iPad which has the ability to connect to the Mac over the network shouldn't care whether the Mac Pro is wireless or wired - provided your network is configured so that the iPad and Mac Pro are on the same subnet (basically their IP addresses need to be the same except for the last number). Have you tried using the controller app with the Mac Pro wired as it is?

  • D20 Blue Screen loading Windows 7-64bit using Intel controller and Marvell enabled

    Hi, Help,
    Hardware:
D20, 4158, Four 500GB Seagate SATA drives configured as a RAID10 1TB virtual disk (partitioned into five logical drives).
    Goal:
Recover or repair a degraded RAID array.
I want to be able to launch Windows 7-64bit using the Intel controller and have it access the virtual disk of the degraded RAID array attached to the Marvell controller.  Subsequently, I want to use the Marvell MRU utility to repair/recover the situation.
    Situation/Issue:
Things ran well for two years and two months until yesterday.  Now, when booting I see:
1962: No operating system found. Press F1 to repeat boot sequence.
If I use the Windows 7 installation CD and load the Marvell driver, the attempt to recover the operating system reports that the MBR is corrupt and cannot be repaired.
If I boot with the Marvell controller disabled in the D20 BIOS, using a Windows 7 installation (with Marvell drivers) attached to the Intel controller, everything works except (of course) I cannot access the RAID drives.
If I reboot with the Marvell controller enabled, using the same Windows 7 installation via Intel controller, I see a "Starting Windows" announcement followed by a flash of the blue screen of death.
The BSOD message is unspecific, no error code, just...
"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen,
    restart your computer..."
    Additional information:
If I access the Marvell BIOS (ctrl-M) and look at Devices, one of the four Seagate drives has status FREE instead of status ASSIGNED.  If I run the Marvell BIOS verify disk utility diagnosic on that FREE status disk, I get a fault error after about 30 minutes of scanning.  So, one Seagate disk is sour and somehow the MBR was corrupted at the same time.
    History:
Two years ago, during the intial configuration, I could access the Marvell RAID disks from this Intel-controller-booted Windows 7 installation, but my fuzzy memory is that I had to change something in the D20 BIOS, such as the AHCI setting or similar.
    Status:
Today, using the Intel controller to boot Windows 7 with the Marvell controller enabled is just BSOD.  What am I missing or failing to do or set?
Thank you in advance for any help and ideas.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update:
I replaced the 500GB Seagate disk with a new 500GB Seagate.  I ran the Marvell BIOS verify disk utility on the new disk drive and it passed with no errors.  Following the steps given in the Marvell MRU online help, I rebuilt the virtual disk.  Upon completion (which took a little more than an hour to complete), I rebooted.  Before the Seagate disk went south yesterday, the Marvell virtual disk contained one primary partition (C, and four NTFS drives (D:, E:, F:, and Z.  Now it contains three primary NTFS drives (C:, F:, and Z.  An extended partition contains D: (an unformatted volume of size 199.30MB) and an unused space of 199.30GB.
    Event log:
Looking at the event log, Windows reports that the disk in question raised a warning yesterday.  Three messages share the same timestamp (all from mv64xx (a Marvell process):
"Physical disk 16 is plugged out."
    "Virtual disk 0 is degraded."
"Physical disk 16 is plugged in."
    Eight seconds later, UserPnp logs:
"Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service disk for Device Instance ID SCSI\DISK&VEN_SEAGATE&PROD_ST3500418AS&REV_CC38\5&248BBE23&0&000100 with the following status: 0"
    One second later, UserPnp logs:
"Driver Management concluded the process to install driver FileRepository\disk.inf_amd64_neutral_10ce25bbc5a9cc43\disk.inf for Device Instance ID SCSI\DISK&VEN_SEAGATE&PROD_ST3500418AS&REV_CC38\5&248BBE23&0&000100 with the following status: 0x0."
    Questions:
Is it possible that UserPnp corrupted the Marvell virtual disk after an intermittent physical disk unplugged/plugged-in event that happened when the Seagate hardware went failed.  It looks to me like my D: and E: are toast despite RAID 10.
Any ideas?  Is there anyway to recover the Marvell virtual disk configuration to the state prior to the hardware failure?  If not, what good is RAID 10?
My apologies for the long posting, but I am an old software guy who does not understand the intricacies of RAID and disk management.
Thank you in advance for any leads toward a solution,
      -John

  • How to configure RAID 5 sys using SAS controller for APP CS4

Hi I would like to know how to configure my 3 HardDrives (600GB each) on RAID 5 connected to SAS controller to work smoothly with PremierePro CS4. I am in a little bit strife on this and Open for any good and effective suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks Nathapushpa

You even have three more connectors free on your Perc controller, so you could add three more disks, without using any motherboard connectors.
I think you have two alternative approaches:
    1. Add a smallish disk as a boot disk, i.e. a 150 GB Velociraptor and install OS and programs there and let your raid5 exist as it is, or
    2. Add another 600 GB to your raid5 to make it a four disk array.
Of course you could also do both. Breaking the raid out to individual disks means that all data on the current raid will be lost, unless you have a backup available, but it will still mean a fresh install of OS & programs, so remember to deactivate Adobe before you do anything to your disk setup like in alternative 1 or breaking out the array.

  • Configure SG-XPCIE8SAS-E-Z LSI 1068E(C0) SAS controller on Solarix 10 x86

I have installed a SAS controller SG-XPCIE8SAS-E-Z on SUNFIRE X4540 machine, this controller was recognized by the OS as mpt6:scsi
    cfgadm -al
    c5::dsk/c5t7d0 disk connected configured unknown
    mpt6:scsi scsi-bus connected unconfigured unknown
    usb0/1 unknown empty unconfigured ok
    I tried to use
    cfgadm -c configure mpt6:scsi
the command finished without any warning (return status was 0), but the controller is still in the "unconfigured" state. Do I need to connect some disks to make it "configured"?
How can I configured it as controller 6 -- c6 and make it "configured"?
    I am running on "SunOS bfs4 5.10 Generic_142901-07 i86pc i386 i86pc"
Thank you very much for share your expertise.

That situation can be becouse i compiled my kernel without initrd/or something like that support?
this is not related to mkinitcpio, you need to enable this option in kernel and disable generation of initrd (running mkinitcpio). Two different things.
I mentioned this before: you need to check build-in modules (fs, SATA/SCSI, disk driver all build-in), learn about VM (disabling swap is wrong and will not speed up anything), you have plenty of stuff enabled including massive debugging which will slow down system

  • PCIe eSATA controller and drive case

Can someone recommend the best external backup to purchase? I don't quite understand the difference between a regular external hard drive, like something that WD makes, versus an PCIe eSATA controller and drive case. What is all of that? Do I really need such a thing, and is it better?
    Thanks.

Can someone recommend the best external backup to purchase? I don't quite understand the difference between a regular external hard drive, like something that WD makes, versus an PCIe eSATA controller and drive case. What is all of that? Do I really need such a thing, and is it better?
    Dear kpdesigns,
No one knows what you need or want but you. I can provide some ideas of various external storage options that are available for the Mac Pro. The various storage protocols differ in performance, expansion and reliability characteristics.
    1. USB - external USB drives are cheap and readily available. They work good for backing up small amounts of data (10-50GB). The performance of a USB drive on a Mac Pro is limited to approximately 17-18MB/sec. This translates into long backup periods when trying to copy 100GB of data to a USB device. FireWire 400, 800 and eSATA enclosures are all faster.
    2. FireWire 400 - external FW400 drives are little more expensive than USB 2.0 enclosures but they provide approximately 32-38MB/sec transfer rates which is almost twice as fast as USB 2.0 on a Mac Pro. FW400 provides adequate speed for most backup situations where less than 100GB of data is in play.
    3. FireWire 800 - external FW800 drives can provide 52-60MB/sec. transfer speeds. This method works well as a backup drive for a Mac Pro as the FW800 ports are built in. It also works well as a boot drive if necessary. However, when using more than one FW800 drive, speeds can be lower and many users end up resorting to PCIe expansion cards when adding more than three FW800 drives. FW800 does not provide the RAID performance that external SATA solutions can provide.
    4. eSATA - external SATA hard drives can provide 57-70MB/sec. This is the fastest method for adding external storage to a Mac Pro. In addition to the Mac Pro SATA 4-bay tray system, there are also two more SATA ports on the Mac Pro motherboard (just under the front fan assembly). These ports are marked as "ODD SATA" on the motherboard. Users can install SATA cables on these ports and run them out of the back of the Mac Pro to SATA->eSATA converters like the Addonics model AASA2SAP15C. OWC also sells a kit that accomplishes this.
    Ecternal 2-Port PCIe Cards
The next level of external SATA on the Mac Pro is a two port card that utilizes the SiI-3132 chip. These PCIe cards provide great individual and dual SATA hard drive performance but are limited to approx. 125MB/sec when used with a SATA PM multi-drive setup in a RAID configuration. Examples of cards in this category include:
    Addonics PCIe 2-Port model ADSA3GPX1-2EM ($39.99)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/addonics/adsa3gpx1-2em/
    FirmTek SeriTek/2SE2-E ($99.95)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/firmtek/2se2e/
    External 4-Port PCIe eSATA Cards
The next step up of SATA controllers for the Mac Pro includes 4-port external eSATA cards that provide very good RAID performance and support port multiplier (SATA PM) and direct connect enclosures. These cards can support up to 20 hard drives using 4 SATA PM 5-bay enclosures and can provide 200-700MB/sec performance in RAID 0 configurations with 5-20 hard drives. Examples of Mac Pro host adapters that fall into this category include:
    Addonics ADSA3GPX8-4EM ($199)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/addonics/adsa3gpx8-4em/
    DAT Optic eSATA_PCIe8 ($189)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/datoptic/pcie8/
    NORCO-4629 ($189.99)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/norco/4629/
    RocketRAID 2314 ($200)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/highpoint/2314/
    Sonnet Tempo E4P ($299
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/sonnet/mac-pro/
    SATA PCIe RAID Controllers
The next step up for Mac Pro SATA host adapters is high performance RAID 5 and RAID 6 controllers that provide redundancy. Performance for this group using 8 drives in a RAID 5 configuration is 420MB/sec on average. Using RAID 6 performance is 350-380MB/sec on average. Mac Pro host adapters that fall into this category include:
    Apple RAID 5 internal 4-port card ($999)
    HighPoint RocketRAID 2322 RAID 5 Controller ($299)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/enhance/e8/
    Areca ARC-1221x RAID 6 SATA Controller ($680)
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/areca/1221x/
    RAID 6 SAS Controllers
The next upgrade for external Mac Pro SATA/SAS hard drive users is the new SAS RAID 6 controllers. These cards provide 8-12 ports that work with either SATA hard drives or SAS drives. They also have the capability to support up to 128 devices using SAS Expanders. This new category of external storage provides almost unlimited expansion capability with a single Mac Pro PCIe host adapter. An example of this category is the bootable Areca ARC-1680x SAS RAID 6 SATA Controller ($845). AMUG is currently reviewing this card and the review should be available soon.
As you can see the Mac Pro supports a wide range of external storage options. Users simply need to decide how much storage they need and what performance level they desire. Typically, as the volume of data being maniplulated grows higher the need for higher performance also grows higher. Users working with uncompressed HD video will find large high performance RAID systems provide a great platform for video editing.
    Have fun!

  • Disable MegaRAID SAS Controller in ESXi

    Hi there,
Is is possible to completely disable the MegaRAID SAS Invader Controller on a B200 M4 blade? We do not use this controller as we boot over the network using Auto Deploy in ESXi 5.5. I would like for it not to show up in ESXi.
I have created a BIOS Policy which sets to disabled the 'Intel Entry SAS RAID' and 'Onboard SCU Storage Support' options but this has not helped.
    Thanks
    Chris

If that is the embedded RAID controller, you might want to enter BIOS and disable it from there.

  • Multimedia Audio Controller, and Video Controller(VGA compatible) are missing on Windows XP(32Bit) SP3

    Hi.
My Desktop Computer(Intel P 4, 512MB of RAM, and Graphics Card  with 256MB of RAM)
Also, My Desktop Computer with P 4 doesn't have any access internet since there is no network adapter is installed. As a result, I would not be able to run the pc scan utility, or  Reader a web-based applet that identifies my GPU or Audio controller
and finds the latest graphics driver for my GPU, and Audio.
I have two Windows XP installations:
Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is old and it seems it infected by some viruses.
I have installed another fresh clean Windows XP(32Bit) SP3. However, I have two devices not detected well by Windows XP.
First of all, when saying that I have multi-operationgs systems, I mean there are two operating systems installed on my PC(SP2, SP3) both are 32Bit. The first Windows SP2(NOT installed by me) has all multimedia audio card installed well,
and has SCSI and RAID Host Controller shown the device manager. However, only the VGA is not installed on Windows SP2. However, the second one Windows SP3(Installed by me) has VGA not installed, Multimedia audio NOT installed, and there is no SCSI and RAID
    Host Controller in device manager.
First:  Yes, my motherboard has integrated video, and integrated audio card
According to the screen shots above, then
The vendor ID of Multimedia Audio Controller  is 8086 and the device ID is
    24D5.
The vendor ID of Video Controller  is 8086 and the device ID is
    2572.
I AM EXPECTING THAT KNOWING THE VENDOR ID AND THE DEVICE ID WILL LET ME QUICKLY FIND THE APPROPRIATE  DRIVER. HOWEVER, I COULDN'T FIND THE APPROPRIATE DRIVER.
Thus, could you please help me to find them?
I have tried installing a soundMAX card  driver, however, I found this error.
I have checked the other Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is oder installed, and it seems it infected by some viruses.
However, the Multimedia Audio on that Windows is installed well. As here: I only posted these screen shots to show what kind of device is Multimedia Audio Card

  • Upgrading Controller and AP Help

I'm planning on moving from 4.1.185 to 4.2.130 tomorrow late but am having an issue in testing. My original plan was with 3 4404's and one of them being emtpy, have the 3rd running 4.2.130 and just move AP's from one of the older controllers over to it until it was empty. However that doesn't seem to be working. In WCS, my test AP is registered to Controller 1, I set it's primary to Controller 3 and it doesn't do anything. How can I force AP's over to the controller with the new code so they'll get updated? The reason for this is I can't take down the whole Hospital for a period of time while I upgrade a controller and wait (and hope) all of the AP's come back up over a period of time.

First verify that the mobility groups is confiugred with all the mac and ip address of all 3 WLC's. Make sure you can mping from one controller to antoher. Then what you can do is change the name of the primary controller to that of the new upgraded WLC. Now you can either enable ap fallback on the wlc that the ap is on or reset the ap, so when it boots back up it will try to join the new wlc.

  • Creating Planned orders and Requisitions for a particular MRP controller and for all the others only Requisition is to be created.

    Hi Experts,
Currently we run Program 'RMMRP000' as a batch job to create Planned orders and requisitions.
The client wants that Planned orders and Requisitions should be created for a particular MRP controller and for all the others only Requisition is to be created.
I implemented Exit 'EXIT_SAPMM61X_001' in the following manner by passing MRP controller to user_key.
      IF mt61d-dispo <> user_key.
        no_planning = 'X'.
      ENDIF.
But as you can see that this will not meet my client requirement.
If any of you has worked on similar requirement / if any one knows that this is achievable or not,
    please share your inputs.

Do someone know how can I setup dual boot of Windows Server 2008 R2 and RHEL 7 Server?
I've tried to install Windows first, then shrink, then install RHEL there.

  • How do you create an installer/bundle for PPro with extension, a plugin (export-controller) and some

    Hi
    As my topic says
How do you create an installer/bundle for PPro with extension, a plugin (export-controller) and some custom presets?
Assume you have Flash Builder 4.5, CS Extension builder 2.0, Xcode 4.5.1 running under MacOS 10.8.

I understand why you need updated running headers in your book. To a sighted reader these serve as a guide to where you are and help you find things quickly.  In addition, if you are exporting your data to XML or HTML from the tagged PDF it would also be important to have these in the proper location.
But for accessibility purposes, it doesn't have to be there because the screen reader reads everything in linear order, line by line.  No one is looking at the page.  A user listening to the screen reader read the page is going to hear this heading, just before the actual word itself. So they will hear the first word on the page twice.  It's not the end of the world if it's there, but such headings are not necessary for accessibility unless they are not repetitive and contain information that is not otherwise available.
So I would say, fine if you need them or want them there, it's just one word.
I think you should try exporting your book to PDF (or even just a chapter of the book) and look at the tags panel in Acrobat to see if you are getting the result you want.  I can't tell you exactly what you should do to get those results, you are using a plug-in I don't have.
I can tell you I didn't have to add the headers to any article at all, they just automatically export if the other articles in the file are added and you don't select the header style option "not for export as XML."
You may not experience the same results with your plug-in, but I think it will probably work the same way.
Give it a try and best of luck.

  • Problems with Ethernet controller and PCI device driver on Satellite L30-10X

    Hellow!
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Russia.
Just few days ago I bought Satellite L30-10X with W Vista on board. My opinion, that this OS does't very good on this computer, so I install W XP.
I have some problems with drivers. At first, I dont know what model I have:PSL30 or PSL33? I download all drivers for both models. But, after installation, computer doen't find drivers for Ethernet controller and PCI device...

    Hi
Satellite L30-10X belongs to the PSL33E series. This number can be found on the label placed on the bottom of the unit!
You have to choose this number from the driver download form to get the compatible XP drivers.
I dont know why you are not able to install the LAN driver. Ive got the same notebook with Vista and Ive installed the XP and all drivers run fine.
I assume you have installed the drivers in wrong order. Please take the look in the Toshiba installation instruction txt file. In this order you have to install the driver! Its important.
I think you should install the XP again to ensure the clean registry and then download and install the compatible XP drivers like mentioned in the installation instruction file.
    Good luck

  • Diff between Component controller,Custome controller and  View controller

    hi,
Can any body tell me the following details,
1.difference between the Component controller,Custome controller and  View controller in WD-ABAP.?
    2.what is Lead Selection?
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi.
The component controller is visbile to all views in a component. So all context nodes and methods you create here can be accessed from all views in the component. This way you can share data between the views by mapping context nodes or thru method calls. You can also mark methods and nodes as interface so that they are acessable from other components that define component usages to this cmponent.
Custom controller is quiet similar to the component controller. You can define it if you want to group some views with a custom controller for a certain functionality.
If you want to access a custom controller in a view you have to define the usage first on the properties tab of the view.
A view controller is only visible in the view itself. So all methods or context nodes you define here are only accesable by the current view.
The lead selection is in most cases the current selected element in a context node. The lead selection is used by many UI elements to determine which element has to be shown (e.g drop down).
If you have a table with single selection the current selected table row is the lead selection element of the bound context node.
SO you can get the lead selection element easily in any mthod by calling context_node->get_element( ).
    Hope this clears your questions.
    Cheers,
    Sascha
