Mask is causing animation to reset/stutter

For some reason when the mask fully reveals the art, the waves stutter  (frame 26) and restart their animation from frame 1. Can anyone tell me  why this is happening? I've included a link to download the CS4 flash file. Thanks!

I am experiencing a similar issue. I am using gotoAndPlay(label) to animate a mask in my mcMain movieclip. The layer beneath the mask contains a movieclip called mcColour with several frames with various colours. In actionscript I change the frame of mcColour using mcMain.mcColour.gotoAndStop(label). When I then try and animate mcMain with mcMain.gotoAndPlay(label) the mcColour movie clip reverts back to the first colour.
My mask layer contains the animated key frames and the layer beneath it is only one keyframe that spans all of the animated keyframes of the mask.
I'm not sure why this isn't working. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

I am on CUCM version 9.1.2 ,whenever i add the subscriber /upgrade the subscriber to Cluster  ,all the registered devices drops .
Not sure why ,In Cisco Documentation ,it never stated this bug in 9.1.2 service release notes.
However , In 9.1.1 mentioned about this in important notes.
CSCub12922: Adding a new subscriber causes device reset
After you install a new node in an existing cluster, all phones that are registered to the cluster are reset.
Anyone experienced ? or aware about this bug?
Is this the case going forward in any version after 8.X? for subscriber addition to cluster will reset the devices?
    Thanks
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
    As per the following bug
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCub12922/?reffering_site=dumpcr
    Symptom:
Add new subscriber to existing 8.x CUCM cluster cause all device reset
    Conditions:
Adding a new subscriber to existing 8.x CUCM cluster cause all device reset due to database update. Issue recreated in lab when "Prepare Cluster for Rollback to pre 8.0" set to both true & false. The symptom and logs are the same in each scenario
This is not a bug. The condition is applicable only to CUCM 8.6 and higher releases. Whenever a node is added to CUCM cluster , from CUCM 8.6 onwards , the phones belonging to that Call Manager group will be automatically restarted
    Workaround:
    None
So, this applies to all 8.6+ releases of cucm.

  • Animated mask on an animated clip : huge problem...

    Hello,
Am I completely hallucinating or what ? That's several years I'm working with Flash, and today, i want to do the simplest animation ever, and it just doesn't work....
I want to mask an animated clip with an animated mask (a shape animation), but every time the mask arrives at a keyframe, the clip restarts to the frame 1 !!
I added a piece of code to see at which keyframe it is blocked, and at every mask keyframe, the code says 'TypeError: Error #1009: null property...'.
    What is this $@#?!@$ ???
Here is an example : http://moonpalace.fr/AdobeForum/testClipMasked.fla
    Thanks for your replies !

The 1009 error indicates that one of the objects being targeted by your code is out of scope.  This could mean that the object....
    - is declared but not instantiated
    - doesn't have an instance name (or the instance name is mispelled)
    - does not exist in the frame where that code is trying to talk to it
    - is animated into place but is not assigned instance names in every keyframe for it
    - is one of two or more consecutive keyframes of the same objects with no name assigned in the preceding frame(s).
If you go into your Publish Settings Flash section and select the option to Permit debugging, your error message should have a line number following the frame number which will help you isolate which object is involved.

  • Tiger 10.4 upgrading causes system to reset!!

    Hi
I have a big problem with my I-Mac. I bought it 2 months ago. Everytime I have upgraded the operating system (twice now) it
-looses all of my addresses and favorites,
-causes all my mail settings to reset meaning I have to set up my mail again and looses all my previous emails
-It changes the user home directory name and stores the contents of the directory into a different folder - meaning iTunes can no longer find any of the songs
It is very annoying so could anyone help.
The computer was a demo in the store and I was wondering if it might be something to do with the settings it had in the store, which caused it to reset to factory settings everyday??
    Cheers
    Hugh

Yup, your question and Diane's answer helped me also. Tho' I had had problems before getting into the iTunes store I always managed to find a way. Today they had me blocked cold with the "Update to 10" advert no matter what I did. Other questioners are being told, incorrectly as it turns out, that they have to update their OS to accomodate iTunes 10 and upgrade to iTunes 10. I did the download which did not take up much more room on my crowded old hard drive and now I'm back in business.

  • Background processing causing animation to stutter

On click of a button I want to play an animation as well as call a webservice. Once the web service results have arrived and the animation has completed I want to push to the next view. This gives a perceived performance boost as user doesn't feel like he is waiting for the result.
I've managed to do this using event listeners for the webservice result and effectend function for the animation.
However, I noticed that the animation stutters in between i.e. perhaps when the webservice results have arrived. Is there anyway to prevent that stuttering?
I did try suspendBackgroundProcessing but that didn't have any effect.

With all the latest news on Flex I wonder if the main contributors on this forum will still respond to queries with the same earnestness.
I started learning Flex just about a month or so ago and started building an app I was so excited about. I am certainly interested in finishing the app and perhaps do other apps on Flex too.
Can someone just answer "No" if what I'm looking for in my question above is not possible.

  • Typing invalid key in a masked filed causes the cursor to go in the end

We have a masked text field on one of the screens. It defaults to a mask string mm/dd/yyyy and as the user types in data, if it's a legal value each of the mask characters is replaced position by position. When the user tabs into the filed the default mask string is selected. The problem is -
If the user tries to type in an illegal character (say 9 for the first position where as it can accept either 0 or 1), the selection resets and the cursor is put at the end of the field after the last 'y'. And if the user tries to type in a legal character, the selection resets and the value is inserted into the first position.
My question is why the cursor goes and sits at the end if it's an illegal character? It's really annoying for the user as s/he has to put the cursor back at the beginning of the field before s/he can start typing anything in that field.
Has someone seen this or similar behavior with masked fields? I've tried it with JDK 1.3 as well as 1.4. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    > I am disappointed to see the shift key (left) as well as the CTRL key causing the screen to go black intermittently when typing my blog...
What does this means exactly? Pressing SHIFT and CTRL button disable the display and you are not able to see anything on the monitor?
    Is this right?
Did you check if this happens using an external USB keyboard too?
If not, I would assume that your keyboard malfunctions and needs to be replaced.
A friend of mine has had a issue with my keyboard. The cursor jumped around and some characters were displayed twice this could be solved by BIOS updateIm not sure if your notebook uses the latest BIOS but you could check this too.

  • Opening a video playback app causes a system-wide stutter...

I've been experiencing a very odd bug, and I can't find anyone else who's had it, let alone had a solution to it.
When I open any app that plays back video (iTunes, QuickTime, VLC, DVD Player, etc.), it causes the display to hang up every few seconds. The hang-up lasts about a second, and persists even after I've stopped playing video and/or closed whatever app caused the stutter. Audio is unaffected, but the entire video output stutters, so you can see it even when moving the mouse pointer, scrolling up/down in a browser, etc. I have to restart to make it go away.
Imagine trying to watch a movie or tv show, and the picture pausing every few seconds, and you can maybe understand how infuriating this is. It essentially makes watching video impossible. As a pro video editor, this doesn't really work for me. Launching Final Cut Pro 7 doesn't cause the stutter to start, but if I launch say, iTunes, before FCP, all video output is affected by the stutter, and I have to restart.
The problem started occurring when I updated Snow Leopard from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7, and has persisted in 10.6.8
I've tried messing with video card settings, Display settings, updating video card drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling Perian, etc., all to no avail.
I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

  • Masks and Photoshop animation

    Hello all,
I am have an issue creating an effect as a frame by frame animation using masks. I have been assigned a logo animation with a lower thirds by my art director. I am not working on After Effects because my knowledge of AE is zilch. I am fairly new to trying out Photoshop's video capabilities, but my ultimate goal is to export my animation as a transparent .MOV file for the video editor to overlay the logo over an interview video they are producing. Because it needs to be overlayed, my .MOV has to be transparent. I have figured out how to export my file with an alpha transparency just fine, but my issue is in the animation part.
The idea behind the logo animation is to have the letters reveal one by one. Imagine a script font with the words My Logo- I was thinking of masking the layer with the logo on it and revealing each letter one by one by painting the letters with white. Therefore, I created my first frame (I'm on the frame-by-frame dialog by the way), and my logo is completely hidden by the mask on the 1st frame. I create a second frame and I begin painting my letters one by one as I add more frames. The problem when I try to do this is that when I begin revealing my logo on the 2nd frame, the 1st frame reveals itself! The 1st frame isn't hidden as I had it, but begins revealing itself as I paint the 2nd frame!
This is my fictional logo I am animating:
The first frame shows my logo hidden by a mask with the 1st frame active.
Second frame is created and I begin revealing my letters by painting my mask so that it is recorded on the 2nd frame. ISSUE: The 1st frame, rather than keeping my letters hidden, it is beginning to reveal my letters such as in my 2nd frame!
Anyone have any thoughts on why I can't keep my 1st frame hidden? Any masking animation tutorial links would be most welcomed. Thanks!

You may be better off just creating you logo and animating it like a banner coming onto your image image using tween. Position you logo off screen. then on screen and have Photoshop generate frames between them. Something like the one I did through the clouds a while back in the forum.
I think I just created a layer masks  to show the clouds to show through in places. The layes mask was not linked to the layers content so when the logo  moved the mask did not.  You also be able to have your logo not move and have photoshop do the tween where you move the layer mask and leave the logo in place. So you logo goes from hidden to being revealed by a moving black mask off the logo. I do know if Photoshop would generate the mask coming onto the canvas as white when you move the black area off the logo.
Yes worked fine single text layer with a layer mask that was moved off text and tween used so Photoshop would generate mask between the two. I used a white background none is needed. Gif support 256 colors one can be transparent however partial tranparency a like drop shows would be done by deterring and not be partrial transparency.

  • PS CC (since JAN 2014 update) Layer-mask editing causes hangs/crashes

ONLY since JAN 2014 update, PS CC has been hanging/crashing when I paint/edit a layer mask. All may be well at first (or not), but suddenly the display of the mask (or mask overlay on the layer itself, as shown when hitting backslash key) is not shown in full but renders in s-l-o-w-l-y in rectilinear pieces <snapshot below was taken before video card upgraded but is still typical of what I mean>. When I view Windows' Task Manager for PS, I see my CPUs are each working at their upper limits (up to 80+-90+%), varying only by a few points, over a VERY long time... which could be MANY minutes. OR the System has decided PS is Not Responding.
In any case, whenever this happens, it means in all practicality PS CC is not working, so I either kill it or it's crashed.
Now, here's the thing: that VERY file, can immediately be opened in PS CS6 (which I have fortunately kept installed on my computer), and the mask will be as I thought it should be, and I can edit it as I always could, just fine! So it's obviously a PS CC thing, and I do NOT recall this happening prior to the JAN update. It is still a problem after the two subsequent updates.
I have not been able to determine the specific instances when this happens, as it seems to happen whenever I am editing a mask, no matter what size/softness/color brush, what magnification, what view mode, many or few layers, big or small file, etc.
I did upgrade my NVIDIA card (from GeForce GTX 260 [with current driver] to GTX660), just in case it was a factor (maybe kept it from crashing as fast? hard to tell... but it's still an unworkable problem). You can see from my Sys Info shown here from the PS CC Help menu  that it should be more than sufficient for any PS CC task, and it's running the latest driver:

I work on digital-photography files, and use a layer mask in almost every file, so this relatively-recent bug is a big PITA, having to switch back and forth between CS6 and CC!
Until there's a fix... is there a way to roll-back my PS CC version to BEFORE the JAN 15, 2014 update?

I am not qualified to comment on technical issues; I'm just a user whose son in IT is my 'technical support department.' (But he's not much of a PS user.)
I'm pretty sure, however, that all my Prefs were set to the same things BEFORE the Jan 16, 2014 PS CC update as after (unless the update itself changed something I was unaware of... the settings APPEARED to be the same but I can't easily locate my notes of what my Prefs were from long ago).
And they were the same as the PS CS6 I have had installed on this same system for a very long time, with older video card with older driver, with newer driver; newer video card with newest driver, etc. Yet after that CC update, CC has not (until this workaround) worked re 'the masking bug' for me, yet CS6 has always worked just the same.
So I conclude that the only variable (other than the video card upgrade I did in an attempt to solve this and of course those Windows auto-updates) in this scenario IS something to do with PS *CC*, and after Jan 16, 2014.
As for restarting the machine vs. restarting PS, well, PS is the major player of my system, so when I shut that (and LR) down, I might as well 'clean things up' by Restarting. BTW, I am in the habit of closing and reopening PS (CC or CS6) whenever I finish with a file and load another, in order to get back some of that memory which PS never seems to want to let go. (This is not new to the latest versions, I think. My son says it's a 'memory hog'? ;-) ) I track its memory use in Windows' Task Manager and find that seems to let it 'refresh' itself. (See, I told you I'm not a technical person. ;-) ) But I do not think this has anything to do with the bug. Just a quirk of PS. Like when a tool goes all wonky (for example, its little icon becomes just a 'plus' sign even though the tool is still performing correctly, it's telling me, I think, that it would like to be restarted. And that makes it feel all better... I mean, tool icon reappears.)
Anyway... it's up to Adobe to figure out IF and what may be wrong with PS CC -- it still doesn't work for me as I had it configured at first, and I think it should, right? -- and to fix that... PLEASE. SOON.

  • Imported image sequence in PP CC 2014 causes animated layers to flicker

I have a project which has a primary layer formed of imported JPGs that are in sequence. These are shots from a time lapse and are sequentially named and imported without issue into Premier Pro. I then have a secondary layer with a simple After Effects composition that comprises a slow fade and animation of some title text. The problem I have is that during playback in PP (or once rendered) the animation of the text in the AA layer flickers. Watching it frame by frame in the preview window it is slowly fading in but each alternate frame it's opacity seems to go back one frame before advancing.
Now I can completely fix this by exporting the image sequence clip in my bin to a video file. If I then replace the image sequence with a video made using exactly the same images it works fine and the animation is perfectly smooth. My question is why does PP not treat the imported image sequence the same as a video with its interaction with other layers?

    Hi there.
Looking at the footage, you are exporting at 24P. There are books written on 24P and how to shoot (or edit) for it. What I see as a possible mistake.
You are moving the photo too fast across the screen. That could be the same as panning too fast in 24P. Same result. The video clips are moving much slower and don't show the staggering.
    Give it a try.

  • Layer mask with background animation

    Hi all,
I am looking to create a video for my YouTube channel using Layer Mask but I am not too competent in using masks.
The logo for my channel is here:
I would like to create a moving background in where the coloured image is but I want to mask out the white areas and keep the text on top. Is it as simple as just creating a hexagonal layer mask with the text in a separate layer?
    Thanks in advance,
    M

Another way is to use a track matte.

  • SCOM 2012 UR2 - Flush health service state causes infinite agent resets

Appearing on several of our 2008R2 servers from our SCOM 2012 UR2 environment, set up with several management servers:
If I select a monitored servers agent in the Operator Console and click the task
Flush health service state and cache, the selected agent will restart as intended.
However, it will restart again every 2-3 minutes forever ever after, unless  you stop the agent service and delete the health service cache folder on the monitored server.
This is visible via the eventlog:
event 103, Healthservice. A task to reset the health service store has been submitted.  The service store will be deleted and re-created.
This was never the case with our SCOM2007R2 setup and started appearing with 2012.
Have anyone seen this before? Any ideas?
    Regards / Jon

    Might save someone some time....
Stopping the agent, removing the "Health Service State" directory + restarting doesn't appear to help.  I did this *and* deleted some agents from the console (then re-added them.  We turned auto approve off)  and it appears
it might have fixed it.  I'll know more in the morning if this actually does the trick besides doing a full uninstall/reinstall of the agent.
If you don't know what agents are constantly restarting, search all management servers for *many* file transfers (Event ID 2110 in Ops manager event log) all to the same Instance/GUID. Execute this powershell on a managemnt server: "get-SCOMClassInstance
-Id <GUID>" to get the affected agent. Alternatively, make a SCOM rule to catch event 103 and look for many repeats from the same server/agent:
    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: HealthService
    Event Category: Health Service
    Event ID: 103
    Description:
A task to reset the health service store has been submitted.  The service store will be deleted and re-created.
