Mass deletion of email from iPhone is possible with Yahoo

I have been able to mass delete messages from my iPhone using Yahoo. I log on to the server and highlight messages in my Inbox that I want to delete and send them to the Trash folder. I then empty the Trash folder. I then log off the server. I then go to my Inbox on my iPhone, hit refresh, and once the connection is made, the email is deleted! This method of deletion only affects the messages stored in your Inbox. If you have any messages in your Trash folder on your iPhone it might be easier or quicker to move the messages back to your Inbox before deleting them. This does not work yet with Comcast.

This is the default behavior with an IMAP account. The same does not work with or applies to a POP account.
The reason you are able to do this with the iPhone's Mail client is because you are accessing your Yahoo account as an IMAP account with Mail on your iPhone.
Firmware update 2.0 nor any future iPhone updates will be able to provide this for a POP account - for any POP account. There is a different protocol involved with each account type which Apple, the iPhone or iPhone firmware updates have any control over nor can solve. There is nothing to solve here.

  • Emails from computer to anyone with yahoo account have no content.  works fine from iphone and i pad

Emails I send via Mail with my iMac show up with no content to anyone with a yahoo e mail account.  If I send from my iPad or iPhone, they do show up.  So it must be the computer.  Suggestions?

Thank you Return, I had tried this earlier thinking it might have helped, but unfortunately it didn't resolve the problem, everything like before.  Unlike others who reported problems with streaming which could be traced to poor signal strength, when I switched to Wifi, I had an excellent signal.
Oddly, when I switched on this morning with nothing changed from last night, the streaming worked perfectly in all scenarios (stream from internet, push from Airplay PC, push from Airplay IOS device, pull from ATV Home Sharing).  Wary however due to my previous temporary improvements, I stopped a movie halfway in an ATV Home Sharing pull, to see if the same movie could be pushed from the same iTunes PC from which it had been pulled.  No luck!  And now also no streaming from Internet.
    I really don't get it!
(Hmmm - for some reason this reply got marked as "This solved my question", when it didn't, I didn't say that it did, and I can't seem to change it.)

  • Deleting downloaded email from iphone but not web server

I recently purchased an iphone 3gs. My wife has had an iphone 3g for over a year. I am having a problem deleting email on my 3gs. Whenever my wife downloads mail to her phone, she can delete if off her phone but leave it on the web server for our internet provider. This way we can still download all of our mail into Oulook on our home computer. Whenever I download email to my 3gs and delete it from my phone it also deletes it from our web server and either puts iit in the web server trash or on my iphone trash folder, whichever I have it set to go. How do I set up my iphone 3gs so that after I download email to my iphone 3gs, I can delete it from the iphone 3gs and not delete the web server version?

Does the email account provider for the account support accessing the account as a POP or IMAP account?
If so, it sounds like your wife is accessing the account as a POP account with the iPhone's Mail application and you are accessing the account as an IMAP account.

  • Delete exchange email from iphone but not from PC

I just set up an exchange email with my outlook on my pc. We do not use gmail. I want to be able to have my calendar and contacts sync automatically. However, if I delete mail from my phone, I do NOT want it deleted from my computer. I've searched for answers and can't find any that solve the issue. The phone is 5s.

I really hate to disappoint you, but IMAP and Exchange both act the same way. Mail is stored on the server, when mail arrives, it is synced to all devices. When mail is deleted, it is synced on all devices. You cannot store mail locally in an IMAP or Exchange account. The best answer to your dilemma is to set the amount of days to sync on the phone so you are only observing a smaller amount of mail versus removing the actual mail. Again, as Meg mentioned, you can always manage your mail on the computer and move mail out of the inbox into storage folders if you really want to keep the mail to view/search on the computer, but it would not necessarily be visible on the phone. You can set your Inbox sync to as low as 1 day, so you would only see a single day's mail on the phone, while retaining all of your mail on the server.
    Hope this helps.

I create a new email and choose the recipient from address book. Even if person has other emails in address book, it doesnt allow me to choose one and automatically sends it to faceebook email. Hello All,
A few months back I got an iPhone 5 with unlimited data by using another line to upgrade, and then swapped the phones. No issues. Now, that iPhone 5 with unlimited line has an available upgrade - could I transfer it to another line and use it without losing unlimited?
I chatted with a helpful Verizon rep today and she said twice that it should be fine, but I wanted to confirm, since I went to a fair amount of effort to keep my unlimited. The chat transcript << has been removed to comply with Verizon Wireless Terms of Service >>
    Thanks,

If you transfer an upgrade to another line, it does not extend the contract of the line you move it to, it will stay with the line that it came from so you would extending the contract of the line with the iPhone 5 on it, and yes, you would lose your unlimited data because you are doing a subsidized upgrade on that line.

  • How do I delete an email from my iPhone 4S, but not have the email deleted from the actual email account?

I just got my iPhone 4S and when I delete my email from the phone, they are also deleted from my email account on the computer.  When I had a Blackberry, there was an option to delete from the phone only or delete from both.  Does anyone know if this is possible with the iPhone and if so,m how I do it?  Thanks.

Not sure what email you are dealing with but when I go into the setting for mail and choose one of my accounts I can go to the Advanced settings for that account and click on "deleted mailbox". Leave the setting for "On My iPhone" to Trash. Under "On the Server" you can change where the messages go. Default is probably set to "Trash". Change it to "Saved" (if that folder is there) or create a new folder in your email client (access it from a computer and see if you can add a folder. Then check setting on your phone to see if the new folder shows. If so, then have the emails go to that folder. I would think this should work the way that you want. Just test it out and see if that works.

  • How can I delete bulk emails from my iPhone?

I have an iMac, an iPhone and iPad, all running latest software.  My Mail accounts are with Gmail and Hotmail.  My problem is that I have a huge number of emails on my devices which I cannot delete.  The methods I have read about don't seem to work, everything reappears.  Is this because of synching acroos the devices?  How can I keep my iMac as the main repository for Mail, and from time to time delete all the copies on my devices knowing they wil be safe on my iMac?  I'd really appreciate guidance on this.  Many thanks!

  • Delete emails from iPhone but NOT server ?

    Hi all,
    I have just upgraded to a iPhone 5C from a 4S.
On my 4s, when i deleted my emails from the Mail app, it kept them unread on my computer/ipad.
With my 5c, it deletes them from the server when deleting on the phone.
How do I have it so when I delete emails from my 5C, it keeps them UNREAD in my inbox on the computer?
Looks everywhere, I have all HOTMAIL accounts
    Thanks

You will need to set up the Hotmail account as a POP3 account instead of an IMAP account.

  • When I delete an email from my hotmail account in the 'mail' application on my MacBook Pro, it is not deleted from the same 'mail' application on my iPhone 4s which my hotmail account has also been added. I thought my emails were synced over iCloud?

It is so frustrating because I cannot understand what is wrong. When I add an event to my calender on my iPhone it appears in my calender on my MacBook which is perfect and very convenient. The same thing occurs with reminders; everything syncs perfectly here. However when I delete an email from my MacBook from the 'mail' appliaction it doesn't delete from the same built-in application on my iPhone. This is extremely frustrating as I have to delete the same email twice on two different devices. I'd appreciate any feedback that would help resolve this problem!

Calendars (and contacts) can "sync" between your MBP and your iPhone through iCloud because they really live on the iCloud servers and the two devices are clients. iCloud can accomplish much the same trick for email messages because the email really resides on iCloud email servers.
If the email resides on some other server, that server is responsible for whatever syncing will be done. IMAP servers like the iCloud servers are built for such syncing; other mail servers may or may not be. iCloud would not be involved with email other than iCloud email.
I understand Hotmail has been changing how their email servers are accessed. Check with Hotmail support for any changes you may need to make to keep up.

  • Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone?

Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone? IOS 7.1. Every other phone in the market allows you to 'select all' then delete.
This trick of selecting one, then holding move, then unchecking (and subsequently moving all the emails to trash) doesn't work. I've read these suggestions and while it appears to work the emails just show up again once you leave and return to the inbox. Perhaps it worked on an older version of IOS.
It blows my mind this is not a standard function. I get a few hundred emails at work every day, and most of the time I just want to delete all of them from the phone as I've read them already. Currently it seems i can only click edit and then have to check each email individually to be able to delete them at the same time; this is the definition of tedious. I would think there are millions of other iphone users who get their company email on their phones that must experience the same thing. It seems now i either spend 20 minutes a day deleting emails, or just let thousands of emails accumulate on the phone (taking up space and also making it hard to just review the most recent emails which is all I want to be able to do when checking email on my phone).
I am hoping I am just missing some simple solution here that everyone else uses. Please help!!
    Mark

Only Apple could answer as to why there is no "select all/"delete all" function in the iOS mail app. Users have been bemoaning this lack of functionality for years now. Like everyone else, you can submit feedback to. Apple here.
    Apple - iPhone - Feedback
While I understand the whole idea of being able to use the phone on the run, if you have an IMAP email account, and if you have access to a computer at work during the day, use your "select all" function on the server and delete all of the unwanted email there and it will be removed from the phone as well.
That doesn't solve the problem on the phone, but it gets rid of the email which is your ultimate goal anyway.
