Matching RED preset sequence compression

When using the RED presets, I notice Premiere CS5.5 is using MPEG-2 I-Frame compression for the sequence (when I do an Export > Match Sequence Settings).
How would I setup After Effects to match the same compress as the sequence?
I'm guessing: Profile 4:2:2 / Level High. GOP M=1 N=1 Closed=0.

Why are you using Match Sequence Settings from Premiere Pro? In most circumstances, that's not what you want.
Likewise, why do you want to do this from AE?

  • Sequence compression setting / Quicktime Export

    Is there any advantage to changing the sequence compression setting to "None" and re-rendering before exporting a sequence using DVCAM footage captured from a DSR30 via FireWire? My normal compression setting is DV/DVCPRO.
    How about leaving the sequence settings at DV/DVCPRO and changing the Quicktime export setting from "current settings" to "uncompressed 10 bit" or 8 bit?
    I'm still getting artifacting when compressing to MPEG2, even with compression markers at transitions and encoding at 2-pass VBR and burning the DVD at 1x.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I decided to check out the Compressor discussion group - full of near suicides like me bemoaning the gross infusion of MPEG2 artifacting after upgrading to Compressor 2.
    Appparently, popular opinion says the VBR feature is faulty and Apple is waiting until mutiny ensues before addressing the problem.
    So I have encoded at 1-pass, 7.2 bitrate, best motion estimator, segmenting OFF, using Compressor, as suggested by some kind soul in the group, and then importing into DVDSP.
    I then burned the DVD and viewed it on my bigass TV.
    NO ARTIFACTING! Plus compressor took SIX minutes to MPEG2 the 40-minute FCP movie. And, yes you can see in the Compressor preview window that FCP has inserted compression markers at all edit points.
    So by selecting settings for what Apple terms lower quality output, I get higher quality output in a fraction of the compression time!
    I am fearful Apple is hiring enemy combatant programmers, lowering the morale of editors worldwide by making their work look like poo.

  • How to create custom search box will allow up to 60 alphanumericcharacters & User can input a minimum of 1 character and the system will pull back an exact match on the sequence entered.

    Hi,
    Can anyone please help me in creating the Custom Search box with below mentioned functionality
    "The search box will allow up to 60 alphanumeric characters.User can input a minimum of 1 character and the system will pull back an exact match on the sequence entered"

    Hi Pradeep,
    Find the complete JQuery AutoComplete function with along with different events in it like focus, select, open and close. You can modify this code as per your requirement.
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").autocomplete({
    source: function (request, response) {
    var getUrl = "<site URL>";
    $.ajax({
    url: getUrl,
    type: "GET",
    contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
    dataType: "json",
    data: {
    featureClass: "P",
    style: "full",
    maxRows: 10
    dataFilter: function (data, type) {
    return data.replace(/\\'/g, "'");
    success: function (data) {
    response($.map(data.d, function (result) {
    return {
    label: result.Last_Name + ", " + result.First_Name,
    value: result.id
    focus: function (event, ui) {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").val(ui.item.label);
    return false;
    minLength: 1,
    select: function (event, ui) {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").val(ui.item.label);
    return false;
    open: function () {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").removeClass("ui-corner-all").addClass("ui-corner-top");
    close: function () {
    $("#ddlSearchTextBox").removeClass("ui-corner-top").addClass("ui-corner-all");
    Let us know if you need any further.

  • Match Footage with Sequence Preset?

    I got some problem with matching my imported footage with my Sequence Presets. I'm new to
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and have tried to read me to a solution here on the forum but need some more help.
    I have found some similar topics and can confirm that my problem is most likely caused by a mismatch between my Sequence settings and the source.
    Can someone maybe guide me through the sequese presets step by step and the general specs as well to create a good editing base for my project.
    I read that G-Spot was a good tool to get all info of the source file and here´s the source file properties I would like to match:
    I want the best possible quality out of my filmed footage, booth video and audio but I don't really know how to match those settings.
    I really appreciate all help I can get here.

    Welcome to the forum.
    One should go about this in the opposite direction - matching the Sequence Preset to the footage.
    It looks like you have PAL Widescreen, and that would be the Preset to choose.
    If one has odd footage, PrPro provides a way to alter the Sequence Preset - the Desktop Preset, which allows one to customize most attributes to match. Say that you have that same footage, except that it was shot at 18 FPS (not the normal 25 FPS), in the Desktop Preset, you could change to 18 FPS. That holds for more attributes.
    Then, if one wants something else, when the Export, most formats/CODEC's will allow them to make the change there.
    Starting with a Preset that matches the footage 100% will give the best editing experience, and the fewest issues.
    One note: you are dealing with MPEG-2 footage, so it has already been pretty heavily compressed, resulting in an initial loss in quality. With most Export options, one will compress that footage again, resulting in another loss in quality. The ultimate workflow would be to go back to before the MPEG-2 compression, if at all possible. If not, then one just has to live with the quality loss.
    Good luck, and hope that this helps,
    Hunt
    [Edit] I see that you have AC3 Audio. That might, or might not pose an issue. What exact version of PrPro do you have? With about CS4.2, AC3 Audio support was built into the program. Before that, one had to find the AC3 .dll file in Encore, and copy it over to the main PrPro folder. The exact name of that .dll file depends on the version of PrPro and Encore, that one has.

  • What is the best way to match clip and sequence settings for real-time editing?

    I am a long time FCP user and trying to make the After Effects workflow a little smoother by utilizing the Adobe suite.
    One of the most valuable things I miss about FCP is that when I drop a clip in a blank sequence (no matter what the settings of the seq) it will ask if I want to match the settings of the clip. This ensures that no rendering is required to quickly edit the video in real-time.
    Is there a plugin or function in Premiere CS4 that I am missing that will afford me this feature? Currently i am doing everything I can to match the clip settings when creating a sequence, but sadly i'm still having to render the timeline to preview the edit.
    lh

    And in CS4, if there is not a matching Preset, you can choose the Desktop Preset, which will allow you to customize nearly every attribute to match your source footage. The name is a bit of a misnomer, but has been around for a long time. I would have called it the "Custom Preset," but Adobe never called.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    PS - I just learned something new about CS5 from Curt, because of your question - thanks!

  • FCP Sequence compression / format for editing photos for a HD Plasma screen

    Hello Forum
    I'm editing a 10 minute documentary that's mostly based on graphics and photographs, and a voiceover. There's maybe 30 seconds of HD Video in it (Sony EX1 Camera). (But I assume the video will be convertable into any format anyway.)
    The final film will be screened on an 1920x1080 HD Screen.
    What sequence preset should I use? I don't see any 1920x1080 in my final cut pro 5.2.
    I'm somewhat new to the world of HD. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Cheers,
    sk

    Thank you for all your replies.
    You guys are right. Sorry it's 5.1.4...
    Let's assume there's no video involved. What would be a good format workflow for a 10 minute film containing audio, graphics and photos only (72dpi jpgs and tiff files)?
    I will receive low res / temp photos for a rough cut. And then high res photos for the final cut.
    I would like to edit offline with a timeline setting that allows me to pan and zoom in/out of photos without much rendering, a fast compression. And then once the cut is approved another setting that allows me to uprez to a higher compression with little effort.
    My setup: Mac Pro (2009) with 3 gigs of RAM (thinking of upgrading to 6) and 512 megs graphics card.
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Thank you

  • CS6 Match Frame Problem, Sequence Clip vs Source Clip issue

    Hey folks.
    So, I'm on Windows 7, Premiere Pro CS6.
    I've found an issue with Match Frame (Control F), it seems to be acting inconsistently.  Sometimes when I double click on a clip in my sequence and hit F it brings up the sequence clip, other times it brings up the source clip (in the Source Monitor)
    The problem here is that I'm placing markers on my sequence clips to line them up based on visual cues in the scene.  This work fine for a while, but then, seemingly randomly, I'll double click a sequence clip and when I hit F it brings up the source clip, not the sequence clip.  Now when I place markers they do not show up in the sequence because I'm marking the source clip not the sequence clip.
    Anyone else encounter this?  If needed I can try to capture video of this happening.
    Thanks all,
    ~ James

    Does this mean that it isn't possible to "Reviel in project", or otherwise locate a merged clip in the project window?
    So far "Reveal in project", and "match frame", point to the same subfile of a merged clip... not very useful. What other options are there?
    ... A sad workaround is to type in the name of the merged file in the search frame at the top of the Project pain.
    I guess this one for the feature request list.

  • Exported Image Doesn't Match Export Presets After Use of Straightening Tool

    Unlike my experience with previous versions, in Aperture 2.1, after applying the "Straightening Tool", I cannot get an exported image to match the dimensions set for "Export Preset." The results are a reduction in size.
    It appears that the output is being based within the rectangular confines defined by the out of view corners of the rotated image rather than that of what is actually being displayed.
    Is there a new method I am missing or is this a bug?

    So, like really, no one has experienced this problem?
    The resulting dimensions of the exported image, which was rotated by the "Straightening Tool" are smaller than that of the export image, of the same picture, not rotated, but with the same "Export Preset" selected.
    Example:
    I want all my exported images to be a dimension of 200 x 300 pixels. Those exported without the "Straightening Tool" applied are exactly 200 x 300. Those, say with a 10º "Rotate" applied to the original and, exported with the same "Export Preset" dimensions, result in an image which is 145 x 216 pixels in dimension.
    This is very unlike Aperture 1.5.6, in which the exported output of both image versions would be identical, at 200 x 300 pixels in dimension.

  • Export RED DPX Sequence

    I have some RED 4K material. When I try to export out a DPX sequence and import that into AE it is not maintainng the modified RED RAW image charateristics of how it was shot or how I altered it. It looks as if it's showing me the RED RAW Flat gamma setting.

    i've had to manually override timecodes on export, not at all ideal and tedious as ****, please tell me there is a simpler way of doing this, this plug is supposed to make your life easier, any feedback/advice greatly appreciated.

  • Image on monitor window does not match red playhead as it moves

    While editing a movie, imported slides do not match the monitor view. As the red playhead moves along to the right, when a slide changes the image on the monitor remains on the previous slide. After about 15 secs the next slide appears, but briefly then it's on to the next slide.
    This is annoying. I have tried everything I can think of to overcome this (eg rebooted, pulled the plists, varied length of slides, started new movie etc). Fortunately, it does not happen with imported movies from the video camera. I can overcome the problem by placing transitions between all the slides, eg use a one-frame cross-disolve, but I'd rather not have to trick it this way. Does anyone have any ideas on this please? Thanks,
    Keith

    I also had the same problem. I have discovered that it is due to the upgrade of Quicktime. To reinstall an older version of Quicktime is quite tricky but I have solved the problem. There is no need to uninstall Quicktime 7.6.6. as this will be done later during the installation of the earlier software. Try this: Download a copy of Pacifist. From www.mac.oldapps.com download a copy of Quicktime 7.6.4. Open Pacifist, drag the installer box icon of QT 7.6.4 onto the Pacifist window. Click open package. When asked click "Replace" check the "all" box. This will over-ride QT 7.6.6 replacing it with 7.6.4 and your problem should be solved. Good luck! Let me know how you get on, please.

  • Match frame and sequences

    Hi Guys,
    Another question from the avid to fcp transistion.
    I made selects sequences and then edited from them into my cut, when I try to match frame back to the master clip I can't get past the select sequence.
    Help, I can't figure it out, I know it's probably something simple.
    Thanks

    PW3 - don't cut from a sequence like that - you end up with nested sequences that way - this isn't an Avid. Instead hold down the cmd-key when you press F10 to overwrite, cmd-F9 to insert, in the contents of the sequence in your viewer, instead of cutting in a nested sequence. Then the match back will work as expected.

  • Non-Match Red Circle Meaning?

    I have Photoshop Elements 7 and my friend has Elements 6.  Both of us havehad this happen.  When saving a photo that we have "fixed," closiing it and returning it to the Organizer, occasionally we see a red circle with a white diagonal slash through it on the upper left corner of the photo.  When you hover your mouse over it, it says "Non-Match."  I have checked eight (yes 8) Elements manuals as well as Elements Help and cannot find a description of this, how it occurs and how to get rid of it.  Then, suddenly, the following day I work on photos and do exactly the same "Save As" thing and the red circle does not appear.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.  What is this, why does it happen, and how can we prevent it from occurring again? (If it matters, I have Windows Vista 32 bit, my friend has Windows XP.)

  • Red line with matching red dot imovie 11

    Hi All,
    I'm just getting to know iMovie 11 and am now only baffled by a few things.. One of which is this red vertical line with a red dot that I sometimes make appear on the timeline... I'm not sure what it's for but would love to know! I've tried searching online to figure it out but I assume because I don't know what it's called, it's very hard to find anything about it...
    Does anyone know what I mean and can you point me in the right direction of where to find out what it is and how it's used?
    Thanks!

    I found a work around... If you copy and paste the video files into the events folder it adds them when you create a new project. I'm not really happy about doing it this way, but at least I can finish editing my clips

  • Logic's presets for compression/space designer, etc.

    Hey
    Do you guys/gals find the presets worthwhile or do you tend to tailor your compressors/reverbs, etc.?
    Most of my vocals feel like they need something to bring them out and I'm wondering what you all tend to do with Logic's effects.
    Steve

    hi, it's all song/style/situation specific.
    especially with comps and eq's.
    SD is a great tool, and there are many, many 3rd party IR's to download or buy.
    of these i use the knock offs from Lexicon, TC, EMT, etc.
    they're more even.
    some of the real halls and spaces are a little colored for my present projects.
    noisevault and echochamber are good sites for free downloads.
    best, DR9.
    PS: re vox, if your mic doesn't cut it, you'll waste a lot of time correcting it later.

  • Trying to convert codec to match in multiclip sequence

    I did a 4 camera shoot which I want to edit in Multiclip.  EXCEPT the 4th camera was different that the other 3 Sony XDCAM EX 3, and recorded in 1440x1080 instead of 1920x1080.  It was in PAL.  So I used Streamclip-Movie Converter after the files had been converted to MOV, chose Frame Size 1920x1080 (HDTV 1080i) in Apple XD CAM HD 1080i50 (35Mb/sVBR) in a Batch List.  And I saw the list in 1920x1080 in my external drive BUT when I imported them in my project 2 weird things happened :
    1)  3 clips were the right frame Size (1920x1080) BUT the wrong Pixel Aspect HD (1440x1080) instead of Square.  I checked Streamclip for a Pixel Aspect option, but there were none.
    2)  a new batch of clips labeled 1920x1080 in my destination folder in the external drive, when imported in the project, appeared as 1440x1080 in the Browser!
    Does anybody have an inkling of what the problem could be?  I thank you very much in advance.

    > But when I do it the converted files (1920x1080) in my Destination folder on my drive, revert back to format 1440x1080 when I import them into my Project!  Do you understand why?<
    That's probably just a pixel aspect ratio setting. The files are probably sourcing the same original media. One has the square pixel flag on, one has it off.
    The main thing with multiclip in Ye Olde Finale Cut Pro was that they all had to be exactly the same format. Exactly. FCPX changed that a bit but it's still much easier to do multiclip with congruent media. And not long GOP codecs or highly compressed codecs like H.264. Use real codecs like ProRes.
    Whoa. I just realized where I was!
    How did I get here?
    Am I dreaming? It's a nightmare.
    I gotta wake up!
    Aaaaarrrggh!
