Material master: BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA

Hi Friends,
We are using the BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA for our mass material master upload. The programm is in use since 2005 (with several updates) and it works fine. Recently, I get feedback from my material master manager that some datas are not being populated.
Example:
MRP 2
    - min Safty stock                     MARC-EISLO
    - Special procurement              MARC-SOBSL
MRP 3
   -  Fwd consuption per               MARC-VINT2
Purchasing
   -  Source list                           MARC-KORDB
Plant data /Stor. 1                    
  - CC Phys. inv. ind                    MARC-ABCIN
The templates for upload are properly maintained. I have checked this during debbuging. Now I realy dont know where to check anymore.
Can someone help with tips?

I would have checked .. if FM interface is properly populated, the tables for respective tabs ...
As each table in the interface is grouped to particular tab when compared to MM01/02/03 ...

    While using the BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA to update material master, I am trying to set the deletion flag to EAN code in the Basic data>>Additonal Data view.
    I am setting the deletion flag in the internal table for table bapi_mean. After running the bapi, the EAN code is not deleted.
    Please can you tell me how this could be done... and where am I wrong?

    Even when it's implemented, you could set a break-point into the form "MEAN_UEBERGEBEN" of function-pool "1001UEB" and look, what happens there.

  • Create Material Master using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA - just the basic view

    I want to create new material master ( just the basic view ) using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.
    No error found in the return parameter, but the material was not created.

    I'm developing LSMW for Material Master Upload using BAPI method.

    There is a requirement to use/map a custom field. Upon research custom field can be added to the parameter EXTENSIONIN and EXTENSIONINX, but I have no Idea on how to do it with LSMW. Please advise what approach is needed.

    Im trying to develop lsmw for material master upload using bapi method.

    MESSAGE TYPE: MATMAS_BAPI
    BASIC TYPE : MATMAS_BAPI01.
    I m unable to find parameters to load gross_weight volume and volume unit and also problem loading the custom fields of material master. Any body who has worked on this one, can you please help me.

    The BAPI_MATERAIL_SAVEDATA support the gross_weight or the volume via the tables UNITSOFMEASURE and UNITSOFMEASUREX.
    eg.

    ALT_UNIT = PCS
    NUMERATOR = 1
    DENOMINATR =1
    GROSS_WT =1000
    All the customer specific field are supported by the EXTENSIONIN and EXTENSIONINX tables.

  • Bapi_material_savedata and material master change log

    Hi,
    The BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA is called to extend a part number to a storage location and change MRP4 Re-order point qty and Replenishment qty.
    The material master (MM03) correctly shows that the part number was extended successfully and the Re-order point qty and Replenishment qty are reflected correctly in MRP4.
    However, when I view the Change Documents (menu-Environment-Display Changes), only the extension to storage location is listed. There is no record for the quantities.
    Is this as expected? Is there something that can be done to enable recording of the quantities as well?
    Because it's a new part number in the storage location, I expect to see the usual as below, but there's none.

    Hi,
    The solution is to call the bapi twice: once to create the mrp view and once to change the values in the view.
    The first call will generate a Create event in the document log and the second call will generate a field Change event.

    I want to delete a record an EAN record(MEAN table entry) available in addtitional data tab in Basic data in Material master.
    I am making use of the BAPI BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA -  to delete the record..
    However I am not able to do the same ..,
    Kindly guide me what all details needs to be passed,, to do the same ...
    I cannot delete directly from MEAN table...

    Pass the details in the table INTERNATIONALARTNOS of the BAPI.
    Set the deletion indicator field DEL_FLAG to delete teh record.

  • Automatic creation of Material Master at the time raising the PO !!!

    Hello All,
    I am stuck in a scenario of our client which should be implemented (or mapped) in SAP.
    Scenario: At the time of creating the PO (in there legacy system -in house developed) they can choose the items from the existing master data or/and they can also add a new item (which is not present in the master data records at the time of creating the PO).
    Now as soon as the system realise that a new item is inserted into the PO, it will create that item record automatically in the backend (database) and the master data will be present from there on.
    The items they are dealing with are all fashion accessories and they generate order on the following basis:
    1. Demand of particular item in market.
    2. List of items provided by the vendor.
    3. Based on the requirement in there outlets.
    So for them its very difficult to fix there master data records, as it can be changed daily or monthly as per the market conditions. At the same time every time they order, its almost around 100 different items (some time 80 of them are new) in a single PO so they cannot create 80 records manually each time.
    These items are not consumable material so obviously they are maintaining the stock for them. They are also not going to use IS Retail.
    I am not at all sure how can we map this particular practice in SAP, it would be really appreciated if any one could help me on this problem.

      As you have two different systems one in house developed and another SAP, and the PO creation part starts from Legasy system which creats the PO in SAP, you can do some development as per below
    1:  While Passing the details from legasy to SAP, use two columns in legasy one will contain the Material Code of ECC (for laready exist material ) and another for deescription of material.
    2: In case material is new for which there is no material master in ECC pass only description from legasy systems.
    3:While getting triggred from Legasy to ECC to create the PO, first check whehter all the material code exists or not in ECC.
    4:If some material are not created (only description present) for those material first create the Material Code using BAPI 'BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA'.
    5: Aftre creation of Material code create the PO using BAPI ' BAPI_PO_CREATE1'.
    6:For the new created material , trnasfre the master record from ECC to Legasy systemso that next time user can see that material in your legasy system.

  • Material Master Update through BAPI - Follow up material not updated

    Hi Experts,
    I am updating the material master through a custom transaction using the BAPI  'BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA'. Rest of the fields are updating correctly except for discontinuation ind., effective out date & follow-up material.
    When I try to update it through MM02 it is working fine. However, when I pass the same data through BAPI it is throwing an error message that 'the material XXXXXX does not exist or is not activated'.
    Please advice.

    All the inputs that are required to create a material in dialog (MM01) should be mandatory as well if you are going for LSMW or BAPI. Obviously your material requires a description (which will end up in MAKT). If you have this description in your flat file then there are additional (perhaps language-dependent) descriptions required.
    You could try to use BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA in your test environment to find out the minimum input that is required to create a material in R/3.
    You may also have a look at thread what are the parameters have to pass to bapi material creation?

  • Problem with BAPI of Material Master creation

    Hi,
    I am creating material master(mm01) through BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.
    Program is working fine but when i m checking in MM03 to display uploaded data through BAPI, i cant able to see material which i created to through BAPI but i can see in MARA table.
    i dont know wht is the problem ?
    can anybody let me know abt this ?

  • Classification data in Material master

    Hi
    Is there any FM to read classification data in material master from buffer. I know there is a FM CLAF_CLASSIFICATION_OF_OBJECTS to read, but this reads from database tables. I want to know the FM, which would read this from buffer.
