Material requirment from Projects

Hi,
I have one scenario where the material requirments will come from projects as materials (BOM) are assigned to project builder. After MRP run if there is material components available in free stock, it is n't getting adjusted against material requirments, rather creating new PR for the items. Request you to suggest on this.
Thanks & Regards,
Ranjan

Dear Biplap,
Any material required for a project and is assigned to a project is generally a special stock, "Q' type.  Basically SAP handles material required for project seperately, Sale order separtely, consignment seperately, vendor seperatly etc.
So when u run MRP for the first time related to that project, generally no material will be avl <b>under that project segment</b> and create Planned order / PR as the case may be eventhough there is unrestricted normal stock for that material. SAP MRP will only consider the materials or docs for netting only if it is related to that particular project/sale order.
If you want to consider the unrestricted stock also then possibly u will have to write a Z program which will convert the normal unrestricted stock into project stock and again rerun MRP on that material to cancell the requirement generated thro the initial MRP run.

  • Periodic material requirment in project

    Hello Guru's,
I need your help in my project requirment :- We are working for construction project were we have an activity for concrete work.
now total work involved in this activity is 120m3 and the duration is 12 months. So period wise 10m3 work i am going to execute.
To execut this 10m3 of work I need 5kg of cement per month.
So total material required to execute the 120m3 of work in 60kg.
Now my requirment is when I create activity in proj for concrete work, i attach cement as material to this activity and generate the reservation. Against this reservation through MRP material is procured and issused to proj. (this is the process)
While attaching material I need to specify 60kg but system should generate 10kg of reservation every month is this possible???
if so how or suggest me to map this process.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
If I need to cretate  periodic requirements for a material which is converted into a PR then do I need to assign the material perio-wise?
what i was thinking if there is any means of triggering a PR for the overall quantity and then splitting the quantity period-wise in the PR.My MM person says no functionality of this kind is available.
Would the best way-out be to create a manual PR and put the periodic requirements line-item wise?
      Thanks and Regards

  • Material requirement grouping Project delivery

    Hello,
We have a scenario wherin Delivery through projects needs to be done for material with MRP grouping. The material is grouped at top level WBS. Once the material comes in stock through procurement cycle at top level WBS the same is transferred to lower level WBS . The problem is that at the time of Delivery from project for MRP grouped material, 'Availability check' does not work and Qty appears blank at the time of delivery. Once MRP group is removed, the qty appears in delivery.

    Hi,
please read FAQ note 677169 section 3:
    b) Why is availability check not executed in CNS0 ?
       Answer:
Please check whether availability check is switched off by
delivery item category (0VLK; indicator 'AvailCkOff').
    c) Why does availability check in CNS0 return different quantitites
than availability check in network ?
       Answer:
Availability check is controlled by checking rule and checking
group. In CNS0 checking rule is hard coded to 'B ' for plant
stock and 'BE' for individual stock. In network checking rule is
defined by order control (plant/order type/business func.) and
might therefore differ from the hard coded checking rule used by
       CNS0.
Please be aware that also in SD ATP checking rule for delivery is
       hard coded with same values.
Please check ATP result with transaction CO09.
    Kind regards
    Peter

    Hi,
check the program name for the transaction and create a screen exit for the same.
Also u can go for copying the code in customer namespace and then add ur own functionality to dactivate or remove the delete function.

  • Delivery from Project with reference to sales order

    Dear All,
I am facing problem in delivery. In my case scenario is-
    1. There are 10 materials with 20 quantities.
    2. I create a sales order only for two material with 5 quantities and enter wbs element number.
Now when i use CNS0, enter sales order number and wbs elelment number system shows all 10 materials that I dont want means I want the materials that are included in sales order. Please help me how to control this.

  • Pass on Material requirements to MRP areas within Plant

    - We are on ECC 6.0 & have a scenario wherein material requirements from depots are passed on to respective plants according to the settings defined in the Special Procurement key in the Material Master (MRP View)
    - The requirement from depots are passed on to the manufacturing plant & further down  to the Plant in which MRP areas are defined, in the form of Planned Orders, if the stock is not sufficient at depot.
    - For Subcontracting, we have various MRP areas within a single separate plant. The requirement is that PR that is generated for STO should be able to pass the requirement to an MRP area (after stock checking at MRP area level), (system to decide the MRP area to be selected for passing on the requirements).
    - Currently the system is passing the requirements & checking the stock at plant level only.
    - Stock determination rules donu2019t seem to work here.
    - The opening up of the u2018Issue storage locationu2019 in STOu2019s by config: (u201CPurchase order-> - Set up Stock Transport order - > Set up Stock Transfer between storage locationsu201D) is yet to be tested.
    - But in that case, only a single MRP area is defined for the material & therefore the requirements may flow directly to that particular MRP area. In case of Multiple MRP areas being defined for a single material, how can we ensure that the system determines a stock checking at one particular MRP area & pass on the requirements to it.
Seeking guidance as to how this issue can be resolved.
    Precisely,
    REQ.FRM>FLOW TO>AS (MRP element)
    Depot>Plant 1>Planned order (PlOrd)
    Plant 1>Plant 2>Material reservation (MtlRes)
Plant 2>MRP area of Plant 2>Transfer reservation (TrnRes)

    dear colleague,
Please check the following info that can be useful:
    1) Note 358936 is relevant for MRP areas of type storage location and
not for Subcontractor MRP areas (which you would be knowing).
    2) Secondly this note was created as an advance development and not
for any particular customer problem. It was also feasible to
develop this functionality with a small change.
    3) The feature of procurement with Schedule lines for components
in subcontractor MRP areas is not available in the standard SAP
suite and there are no plans to develop this in the near future.
This feature would be an advance development.

  • Sales order stock from Projects

    Dear Gurus,
    The Scenerio is,
I am procuring materials through project. Generally it will go into project stock, If it is mentioned as a stock item. But my requirement is, the procured material has to go into salesorder stock.( Bcoz delivery of material happening in SD thrpugh sales order.) Is that possible? If yes, what are all the settings, I have to do in PS module and other modules,if required. But the cost(Planned/Actual) has to be captured against Project.
    Awaiting for your reply.
    Regards
    Suresh

    Hi,
When you are creating a PR from project , the "OPTT" customizing
1.Should have the "D" setting for "Sales Doc- Project" setting.
and in the sales order that is relevant to the project , you must have the WBS element assignment
Both the project and the Sales order should have the material ! project having it as being procured ( to take care of PR & PO generation )
and the SO having the material as being delivered ( to do the delivery and billing of the material supplied )
The Sales order should have the material production or procurement getting triggered through the item category ( and the material master's MRP Type ) and the requirement type !!
All these settings  once maintained, you can have GR of material to Sales order stock !

  • Transfer posting of subcontracting stock with mvt type 541 from project stk

    Hi,
we run project MRP and the requirement is raised for subcontracting item also ,after converting the PR into PO when I try to transfer post material in MB1B using 541 ,system shows Error Purchase order does not contain any item even I have  material in my project stock, what may be the reason?
    Regards
    Kantha

    Hello Kantha,
The components which you provide for a vendor are manged in a vendor-related special stock, O. This stock is updated at plant level, becuase material is actually not in your plant. If you want to provide stock to vendor the avialble stock types in subcontracting are from un restricted use and in quality inspection.
When you provide componets to vendor via transfer posting this needs to go from only unrestricted use stock to the stock of material provide to vendor movement type is 541.
So to execute the transfer posting for the stock of material provided to the vendor, you have to specify special indicator O, if not the transfer posting will not differ from normal transfer posting.
Also T-code MBLB will help you in evaluating the stock of material provided. So you need to transfer the stock from project stock to unrestricted stock to carry out the transfer.

  • Material procurement as Project stock

    Hi,
I have assigned a Non Stock Material (N) to WBS activity ---> converted the PR (created for network) to PO --> now i want to do GR for this PO and update the material recieved as Project stock on the correspondign WBS.
I am using movement type 501Q when doing GR, and i expect that the corresponding WBS should automatically be populated or i should be able to add the WBS manually? but WBS field in MIGO screen when doing GR is greyed out?
Any pointers to address this will be helpful?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    >>>>>>
But now for one project i dont want to take material from store, but want the material to be supplied by supplier directly at project site, also i dont want to show the material supplied as directly consumed but want to show it first as WBS stock and then do GI to show consumption? how can we achieve this??
    <<<<<<<
If you are intended to ship directly to site, then change procurement scenario as Drop shipment. In that case material never see the warehouse, what I mean no GR. Hope this make sense.
for other requirement, discuss with your WM guys who should have fictious GR for that material. In that case you have to use material account assignment as Q (project stock). the only thing is you are not physically bringing material into warehouse but still you have GR for that material.
Why you want to follow suck kind of routing, directly use drop ship procurement scenario which makes your life easier without any risk. By doing this you encouraging some kind of malpractices in system where users may misuse.
Any have its your call and take decision accordingly.

    Hi,
I also strongly recommend you to read the following material. It is long, I know, but covers almost everything, including your questions:
    Working with the Development Infrastructure
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/03/f6bc3d42f46c33e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
This includes also some conceptual descriptions, tutorials, it describes among others the component model, and nwdi elements one by one like cms, dtr and cbs, etc, I believe it is a good start.
Still, let me briefly, but really only in a nutshell answer your questions.
The changes are only in inactive after checkin. You won't find in active, only if you activate (for details about actvation please refer to the above guide, since if I go into details, I am afraid the answer will be too long).
This was so far the dev/inactive and the dev/active part.
Then you release the changes and import into consolidation. Here it is indeed tricky, since a force activation takes place after a succesful import, so your changes will be visible in both cons/inactive and cons/active.
You also asked what to consider if you delete a DC:
#864515 - How To Delete a Development Component
You wanted to know where to monitor activities. For this go to the CBS webui and check the "Activities" page.
Here you can look up all the activations took place in the past,  you can check pending activations, etc, you can even use CBS webui to activate.
Release: You are completely right, there is no release feature in any webuis, as this feature was never implemented. While you can activate from NWDS and from the CBS webui, regarding release the only option is NWDS.
I hope this helps, let me know if you require more clarification.

  • Delivery from Project - reg

    Hello,
in my project i want to deliver material frm my project.
    Now iam using thg CNS0,
i want to know the difference between CNS0 and VL01N.
which way is better to deliver material frm project and difference b/w those.
pls help me in this regard,
    Regards,
    Prakash.
    Reward points for useful answer.

    Hi Prakash,
CNS0 is transaction for project delivery and VL01N is for ales order based dlivery. Which one to adopt is dependent on the rest of the configuration and business requirement.
Project delivery type is "LP' and default delivery item category type is "DLP'.
Primary difference between project delivery and other deliveries is that project delivery does not create any requirement (TOR) , whereas in the case of sales order based deliveries, deliveries create requirements. i.e, requirements which were till then emanating from sales orders, emanate from delivey once a delivery is created.
Another major difference is that with VL01N, you can do delivery related billing, whereas  deliveries created using CNS0 cannot be referenced for billing.
Hence, if there is no billing process involved, CNS0 would be the ideal choice. If mile stone billing is involved, again CNS0 would be the obvious choice. If delivery related billing is involved, possibly you may have to go in for VL01N.
Some explanations provided in SAP Note:677169 are quoted below:
    Quote begins:
    Delivery from project (CNS0)
    a) How can I change delivery type 'LP' ?
                           Answer:
Delivery type 'LP' (0VLK) is hard coded and can not be changed.
    b) Why is availability check not executed in CNS0 ?
                           Answer:
Please check whether availability check is switched off by delivery item category (0VLK; indicator 'AvailCkOff').
    c) Why does availability check in CNS0 return different quantitites than availability check in network ?
                           Answer:
Availability check is controlled by checking rule and checking group. In CNS0 checking rule is hard coded to 'B ' for plant stock and 'BE' for individual stock. In network checking rule is defined by order control (plant/order type/business func.) and might therefore differ from the hard coded checking rule used by CNS0.
Please be aware that also in SD ATP checking rule for delivery is hard coded with same values.
Please check ATP result with transaction CO09.
    d) How can I filter out components in CNS0 ?
                           Answer:
Please refer to notes 546029 and 891134.
    Quote ends.
Hope you find the explanation useful.

  • How do the Procurement of materials from projects?

    Hi Friends'
How do the Procurement of materials from project s, here our Process is:
Whenever our engineers on site see any shortages he will send a report thro our customized InfoPath request form. Then we decide depending on the material whether to order to USA or Procure locally. Some mechanical parts we procure locally. For this in PR we give reference of WBS element. Purchase department raise PO, we receive material, sent to site And finally we charge USA(parent Company)  for this amount against this project.
For the items like electronic cards, Critical mechanical parts to be ordered to USA we send the InfoPath form to USA. We get weekly shipments from USA. We create PR and also PO. No action by our purchase dept. The FREE OF CHARGE (FOC) material is received to us. Stores will do MIGO and then we dispatch to Site.
Friends please suggest how to do this Process through project systems. I need the entire configuration setting that we need to do and the process also, plz friends... I need these settings step by step.

    Hari

    suggest attend course PLM220
If using only WBS then you have to raise PR from MM module and the material demand will not be driven from PS (except Easy Cost Planning)
If using networks then assign material component to network activity and set the item category as non stock item - this will trigger PR from activity
