MaxDB (7.8.02.27) installation error: Invalid parameter Data Volumes

Hi all,
i get errors during installation procedure of MaxDB 7.8.02.27 at the point where i define the Database Volume paths (step 4b).
If i use the default values the database gets created without errors.
But if i do changes e.g. to the size of the data volume, the error appears when i click next:
"Invalid value for data volume size: data size of 0KB does not make sense Specify useful sizes for your log volumes".
If i create 2 data files with different names (DISKD0001, DISKD0002), i get an error mesage that i have used one filename twice.
Now its getting strange: If i use the previous button to move one step back and then use the next button again, it sometimes
accepts the settings and i´m able to start the installation and the database gets created.
I´m remote on a VMWare server 2008 R2 (EN) and i´m using the x64 package of MaxDB.
Any ideas?

Hi Martin,
A general system error occurrs if file *.vmdk is larger than the maximum size supported ... It has to be replaced with the nearest acceptable value associated with the various block sizes so that you can use to create a datastore.
You may need to resize your block size while choosing VMFS datastore.

After Effects Installation error: Invalid Type Context

I am currently working with Creative Cloud CS6 After Effects on a Windows 7 Toshiba Satellite, Core i3. I've been having trouble opening the program suddenly. I thought it might be due to a plug in which I had been trying to get working with both my After Effects and Premier (which works fine btw) to use to read a specific video coversion file (AVS). It didn't ever work so I unistalled all the plug ins I could find, uninstalled After Effects and reinstalled it. Then I started getting the error "Invalid type context" and AE would crash. I've uninstalled and re-installed twice and still cannot get AE past this error.
Edit: Got a chance to write dow the info message after the error:
"After Effects error: Crash in Progress. Last logged message was: <1588> <ae.blitpipe> <2> Making new context"
I've looked for help in the FAQ and also done a couple searches in the forums, but found no topics about this type of error. Any thoughts?

1. I've uninstalled all files pertaining to AVS conversion from my computer.
2. I've given After effects full permissions through my windows firewall and McAffe too.
3. I've reinstalled twice since my first post.
4. I've stopped Adobe QT32 from running while AE loads.
5. I've run the program as an administrator and tried running it configured for Vista OS.
6. I've removed all preferences and cannot find any folder for AE preferences in my AppData folder.
I'm still unable to keep the program from crashing as it initializes the user interface (farther along than before). I'm still getting the Invalid Type Context file. It brings up a save project option, which I haven't tried as I haven't gotten far enough along in AE to have any work to save.
I did get this detail report in an attempt to diagnose the problem:

Error: Invalid Parameter when trying to extend volume in Windows Server 2012

From VMware, I added space to a Hard Drive to a Windows Server 2012 VM. I then went into the WinServer console, and opened Disk Management. I did a rescan on the disk. It found the extra space. I right mouse click on the Disk,
and choose Extend Volume, choose the available space, and then an error returned of 'Invalid Parameter'.
In Disk Manager, the new larger space is assigned, but Windows Explorer and everything else only recognizes the original smaller size.
EventManager shows Event ID 265: A pointer device did not report a valid unit of angular measurement. Event ID 257: A pointer device reported a bad angular physical range. Event ID 258: A pointer device reported a bad angular logical range.
Anyone have a solution for this problem?

Please try to use the command line utility diskpart to extend the drive.
1. Open a command prompt
2. Type in diskpart
3. Type list volume
4. Type select volume #
5. Type extend [size=n] [disk=n]

Itune\quicktime installation error invalid G drive on Windows

Hi,
I am trying to install Itunes 9 on a Thinkpad T61. When it gets to the quicktime phase, it says invalid G drive. I have tried going to the cmd prompt and performing Subst G: C:\, but after doing so it goes a little further, then says "the specified path is too long G:\lib". My only option is to cancel out. I have tried starting in my dock with external drive plugged in and thumb drive too to avoid having to use the SUBST command. When I do it this way, I get a different error, 2869.
I have tried just installing quicktime separately, but does not work either. I etiher get Error 2869 or that the G drive does not have enough space? I have a different laptop (older T41) that it worked just fine. Why not just use that one? The USB ports will not operate at 2.0! (known but separate problem). Sorry for the long question, but could not find anyother similar post!

Doublechecking Jim. Have you tried the procedure I describe in the following post? (In your case you'd be looking to change the drive letter to G rather than F.)

The description in the documentation is

Invalid compressed data--crc error (RHEL ES 3.0)

i have downloaded from the Oracle Server these archive: ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz
in order to install Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.3) on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (ES) 3.0 server, but when i tried to uncompress (with gunzip) the archive ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz, i receive these error: "invalid compressed data--crc error".
so, please can you tell me what is the problem exactly. because, i have downloaded four times !!! but the problem didn't change.

This is what I got when I ran cksum:
$ chsum ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz
405751305 649170233 ship.db.lnx32.cpio.gz
as you can see it does not equal 1778052285, so does that mean I have to dl keep downloading the file till i get the correct cksum?
This is just a dev system so it has only 32MB, is that a problem? Do I have to have 256MB?

Installation error: "MaxDB Software must be installed before ..."

Dear collegues.
During my installation of the win7 x64 trial version SP7 I get this error:
"An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Error during execution of command identifier 'XSERVER_STOP' : MaxDB Software must be installed before this class can be instantiated!"
The error occurs during step 5: installation of the MaxDB-client.
I've initiated the installation according to the guides, so I would assume that anything needed for each installation step is taken care of by the installation wizard. Thus - I assume I do not need to manually install MaxDB beforehand. Right?
Before installing the SP7 version, I tried with the SP6 version, but got the some problem. I've un-installed both, and I checked the register keys and found no entries here - allthough I'm not 100 % sure where to look.
Anyone with similar experiences?

OK - I managed to figure out a solution. It seemed that the problem was caused by an earlier but un-sucessful attempt to install miniWAS. Also I un-installed SAP GUI. After cleaning up in registry keys, delete SAP-related services (even though disabled) and deleting all SAP related files and folders, the installation worked fine.

I am new to this forum and I would like to inquire about the reasons behind a specific installation error of Oracle 11gR2 on Fedora 13 and the way to fix it. The error led to a weired behavior for the EM. I am going to explain everything precisely to flap the correspondence time so please please please bare with me.
I have followed precisely all the pre-requisites for preparing the installation environment (Fedora 13 Linux OS) by following the instructions in the manual that comes on the source installation Disk-1of Oracle 11g R2, like assigning the environment variables, setting kernel parameters, installation of all the required and necessary packages, creating the necessary directories and changing the owner ship, in addition to creation the user 'oracle' and the necessary groups. This installation ends up with a successful working database that can be accessed using sqlplus locally and remotely from another machine. My EM also worked but for a limited period of time for only about 10 to 15 min then after that I cannot access it due to a problem in the agent background process or daemon that is resulted from the error happened during the installation, and need to restart my machine. Here is what happened.
My installation is a stand alone database (database control / console database). Everything went smoothly during the installation except the following error that I couldn't get rid of or fix it, and I just continued the installation by clicking on the continue button of the OUI alert window. The error message on the alert window is:

notice the EM Daemon (agent background process) is not running
Becuase of this error, the actual status of the database is not shown up in the EM. For example, if I try to startup my database through the EM, it starts successfully, but its status will not be shown, same thing happens for the listener. Clicking the View Details link in the EM after starting up the database shows up the following:

I have successfully installed Oracle 11g R2 after some manual intervention to solve this linker error.
The linker error actually gave the useful hint to solve this problem:

/usr/bin/ld: note: 'B_DestroyKeyObject' is defined in DSO /home/akos/app/akos/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libnnz11.so so try adding it to the linker command line
/home/akos/app/akos/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libnnz11.so: could not read symbols: Invalid operation
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
This means that the gcc linker phase lacked an option for "-lnnz11". I run "make agent nmhs" manually,
so the last command that gave an error can be copy&pasted to the command line. Adding "-lnnz11"
after "-lcore11" to the command made it run successfully, and also re-running "make agent nmhs"
on the command line didn't fail now. Then I chose the "Retry" button in the installer GUI and it proceeded.
This change in the Fedora 13 linker was announced at

In Fedora 12 and earlier it was allowed to an app with library A and the app was able to use symbols
from every other libraries (B, C, ...) that library A was linked with. In Fedora 13 this is not allowed anymore,
your app needs to be linked explicitely with library B, C, etc.
Later, there was another problem with SELinux not allowing text relocation in .../product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1
which was solved by running:
chcon -t textrel_shlib_t '.../product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1'
and re-running configuration of "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant". This allows keeping SELinux on.
After that, installation and setup of the first database succeeded on Fedora 13.

Sap netweaver abap trial version installation error

I have windows 64 edition.
i am trying to install sap netweaver 7.02 abap trial version 64 bit.But it gives folowing error
An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :The database installer reported an error. DIAGNOSIS: Some database applications might still be running. SOLUTION: Check the log file sdbinst.log and C:\sapdb\data\wrk\MaxDBRuntimeForSAPAS_install_ _ .log.). You can now:
Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW702/AS-ABAP/ADA/CENTRAL/.

As written on the error message you have to check the log and post it here.

J2ee Adapter engine installation error

Hi All,
I am installing XI with NW07. I had an ERP2005 server here with ABAP only. I installed Java Add In to it with usage type PI.
Now I tried to install J2ee adapter engine. It showed if i want to run a new installation or continue the old one.
I tried to install installation of J2ee adapter engine from a new directory.
It is stuck in between. I choose it as a MCOD to existing DB.
I can see a new instance for this in MMC and it is up and running.
But the old java instance is not running. None of the Proceses of Old Java instance (dispatcher, server0 and SDM) are not running. Did I do something wrong?

I ran the prerequisite checks before starting the installation.
It shows everything ok except it told me to have a environmental variable as CPIC_MAX_CONV with the value 200 at least. And I did that.
All the other checks were ok.
All are on SAME OS and same machine.
I have J2EE Adapter Engine installation guide, but there is nothing for this in that
In Instance properties file for the old instance it is showing the instance ID which it is not able to find.
In the configtool of both the instances, the instance ID is same under cluster_data and this is of the newer instance
How did the instance ID and data got replaced in the configtool of old instance. I mean the new instance has its new directory or folder.
What Could be the problem?
Did I do anything wrong here?

I am trying to Install ECC 6.0 for our R&D Server and i have 240 GB HDD and 4 GB RAM. I have only one drive (C:\) and i know its a bad practice to install ECC on one drive but i have to do it. I cannot format it either.
The INstallation started and during ABAP Import stage ( it has 9 failed jobs), the installation gets stuck for almost 2 days. I try to install again but i get an error message which says:
