Maximum Frequency on PCI-6024E

Hello, I'm just wondering what is the maximum frequency can PCI-6024E hold?
My sensor's range is .016KHz - 16.6665 KHz, if this is too much, can I just use
a divider to cover what is max limit of the card?
Thanks!

One Step At A Time, Maybe Two...

200Ksamples/sec on a single channel, per the specs:
http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/370719c.pdf
For optimum accuracy, sample at 5-10 times the highest frequency component of the signal if possible (minimum of 2x per Nyquist), that would be 166.6Ks/sec rate max which is still within range of the card.

  • Maximum frequency out on PCMCIA 6024E

    Hi all,
I have a short question about the PCMCIA 6024E. What is the maximum frequency that I can generate on the counter out pin?
    Thanks for the help!
    Charel Marais

The 6024E has a 20 MHz timebase on board. The counters on the 6024 work
with two load registers for the number of timebase ticks the output
should be high or low. The minimum value for both load registers is two
timebase ticks. Thus the maximum counter output frequency is 20 MHz / 4
    = 5 MHz.
    I hope that helps,

  • How much is the value of minimum delay of PCI-6024E?

    Hello:
I use PCI-6024E board to do some work.when I use function "scan_op" of multichannels sample,I find I can't get a value in the help files. One of parameters of function "scan_op"---"scanRate" is so described:"When scanRate is not 0, scanRate must allow a minimum delay between the last channel of the scan and the first channel of the next scan." I want to ask how much is the value of minimum delay of PCI-6024E?If you know, please tell me,thanks.

    Hello;
For E Series devices, this delay corresponds to the speed of the board. So, for the 6024E case, as the maximum Sample Rate is 200kS/s, that means that the minimun delay will be 1/200k = 5u seconds.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do i generate the TTL pulse from PCI 6024E DAQ card

Hi, I'm trying to write a program which generates a single TTL pulse when it is run. My goal is to generate the pulse, send it to the output channel of my PCI 6024E DAQ card, and then use a BNC cable, to display the signal on the oscilloscope. I have written the code and I think it appears fine but when I try to view the signal on the scope I am unable to see the pulse. I have tried slowing down the sweep on the scope and have adjusted the voltage and time scales but have not seen any response. After examing my DAQ card, I noticed that none of the PFI/TRIG terminals on the card are wired; the output channel connects to terminals for DAC0OUT and Ground. I'm wondering if this pin needs to be wired in orde
r to generate the pulse since PFI0/TRIG1 is the start trigger terminal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
You are looking for a retriggerable pulse generation. Please check the Generate Retriggerable Pulse (DAQ-STC).vi example that ships with LabVIEW.

  • Noise in thermocouple measurement using PCI-6024E DAQ card

I am using a PCI-6024E DAQ card for thermocouple(TC) measurement. The
TC is installed in the mold cavity of an injection molding (IM)
machine. The leads from the TC are connected to the DAQ card using a
CB-68LP board. I made a  temperature mesurment task in LabView 7.0
with the two leads from TC as differential inputs and used CJC value of
    25 deg C.
The problem is that when the IM machine is OFF, I get a reasonable temp
reading with some slight noise but as soon as I turn ON the IM machine,
the temp readings go wild with a lot of variations around the mean
value. The temp values also don't go to higher values when the TC is in
contact with the molten plastic in the IM machine.
Do I need to ground something here or put a resistor in the I/O board?
BTW the IM machine is grounded and the TC give correct temp values when
connected to a hand-held temp reader.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hello  Aftab,
Looks like you need to use bias resistors to reduce the noise. Check out the following tutorial for more information about how to use bias resistors.

    nce of nth triggering pulse. i need to know when the when the ist trigger occurs and when the nth trigger occurs . please tell me how to to . what i know is that event triggering has to be done with start and stop trigger. please tell me how it has to doneSuresh;
What you will need to do is to set up a digital start and stop triggered Analog Input acquisition. Then you will need to have a counter set as event counter, having the specific number of pulses you need configured as the preset value, configured to count down, and generating a pulse after the terminal count has been reached. That counter output will be the stop trigger of the Analog Input operation. In summary, you will have the external pulse being both the digital trigger of the Analog Input operation and the source pin of the counter, and the counter output being the digital stop signal for the analog input.
I'm attaching a Labview VI that does the start and stop analog input acquisition. You will need to include the counter part and set the stop s
ignal to be the counter output.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can version 7.1 work with a PCI-6024E?

Hi! I've been trying to run a VI which is being successfully used in my lab to acquire data. However, whenever i try to run it i get stuck when the AI Waveform Scan VI file is being searched. Following your replies to similar questions i've made sure that the traditional NIDAQ is properly installed. is it possible that my data acquisition card (PCI-6024E) cannot support ver. 7.1? what do i do next?
    Thanks,
    Tamar

from what i understand from your post, your problem has nothing to do with the card.
your vi cannot run because a subvi is missing: AI Waveform Scan. it is probably in a different library than on the original computer (i would guess the original computer has a different version of LV installed). maybe it is one of the examples in a previous LV version?
Either way, the easiest solution for you is to go to the original computer, save your vi with all dependencies (as an llb for example), and try again on the new computer.

  • PCI 6024E COUNTER TIMER

I have connected the output of my amplifier/discriminator which gives TTL output pulses of 20 ns rise time to my PCI6024E counter source, the other counter source is connected to a square wave generator such that when that counter gets to a certain value, both the counters reset.
there are no gate, output and ground connections.
when i started this, this setup worked.
but now there seems to be a problem.
the maximum frequency is 20 Mhz, my signal is a bit more than that. will this cause a problem or i will just loose some counts and nothing more.
also should the other counter source be set at a particular frequency?
i found out that if i connect my signal (ttl) and square wave generator ground to the same ground, my results depend on the rate of square wave generator.
does anyone know why this is?
    thanks for your help
    madhu

    Hi mandhu,
Here's my understanding of what you're trying to do, please let me know if I understand correctly:
The source input to Counter0 is wired to a TTL signal from the amplifier/discriminator, and the source input of Counter1 is connected to a square wave signal. When Counter1 reaches a certain value, the values of Counter0 and Counter1 are resetted.
If the above is correct, can you elaborate on the what is not working (e.g. error encoutnered, wrong count, etc.)? Has anything changed at all between when it worked and now (e.g. noise in signal source, hardware or software set up)? What software (e.g. LabVIEW) and driver (Traditional or DAQmx) are you using for your application?
Using a signal higher than 20MHz should not damage the board, but you will miss counts.
I'm not sure I understand the following explanation of the application. I assumed from your application description you want your second counter to control the count of your first counter as well. Is this the case? Please try to elaborate on the software and the signal connections.
"but now there seems to be a problem.
the maximum frequency is 20 Mhz, my signal is a bit more than that. will this cause a problem or i will just loose some counts and nothing more.
also should the other counter source be set at a particular frequency?

  • R6850 kit to connect 5B backplane to PCI-6024E DAQ card is it possible?

I have an old 5B01 backplane that I have connected to an SC-2050. Can I connect the SC-2050 to my PCI-6024E DAQ car using the R6850 kit?

    Lcacho,
I've reviewed the manuals and specifications for all those devices, and the connection should work.  Please note, however, that given the age of the 5B01 backplane, I cannot confirm this completely.  However, from the information I have, you should be able to connect all these devices.

  • Run 2 PCI 6024E in parallel -- Dirty signals

    Hi everyone,
I have two PCI-6024E Cards in my system. I want to run them parallel in continuous acquisition mode (I need to monitor 12 channels in differential mode).
    The VI works like this:
Two tasks are configured for continuous acquisition (Device 1 and 2). In a following while-loop I read a certain number of samples from both devices, do some calculations, and write an extract (2 Vals) to a log file. Loop starts over.
    The problem:
When doing so I have false measurements 3 to 4 times a second. Strength about 70% of my input range.
    Things I did so far:
Checking the circuitry by using an analog data recorder. Result: clean signal
Checking the channels in MAX (test feature). clean signals
If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated

    Hello Peter,
first you should insert an error cluster to display the error (inside and outside from the while loop).
Then you should reduce the amount of data for example from 600.000 to 6.000.
You have 12 Channels with 600.000 values per channel and you save double values.
The function "Save Data" needs a lot of time.
You should try to open the file before you jump into the while loop.
In the while loop follows the write function and outside from the while loop the close function.

  • About installation of PCI-6024E!

I have a PCI-6024E card. After I installed the NI-DAQ version 6.9.3,I plug PCI-6024E card into the PCI slot of computer. But Measurement and Automation didn't find it in the "Devices and Interfaces".Then I pluged PCI-6024E card into different slot, the result was same.Could you please help me how to slove this problem?By the way,my operation system is windows 2000.I tried all troubleshooting method that on NI's website to improve this problem, but I failed. Please advise me some suggestion.Your soonest reply will be much appreciated.

    1) The option you speak about is used to check if there are new driver versions for the products you use. The one I mentionned is not the same. You can access it through the last line of the same menu. It allows you to define whether MAX updates the list of the installed products on your demand or automatically. If the first option is checked, you must press F5 to update the display of MAX.
    2) Your card may be defective.
    - Was it detected by the operating system after the installation ?
    - Does it appear in the list of the installed peripherals (Control Panel --> System --> ...) ? (As mentionned before I unfortunately don't remember the exact terms because I have been using french versions for a long time).
    - Do you have another car
    d to check ?
    3) No problem with the driver version.

  • How to measure frequency with PCI-4474 card

    Hi,
I'm trying to measure frequency with PCI-4474 card.
    Any sample code available?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting the the NI forums.  There aren’t any example programs that ship with the DSA drivers.  Will you be using this with the Sound and Vibration Toolkit?  If so, there are numerous examples that install with this software package.  Check out the LabVIEW Example Finder >> Toolkits and Modules >> Sound and Vibration Toolkit.
In addition to this, you could also use the signal processing VIs that ship with LabVIEW.  There are also examples that ship with LabVIEW that use these VI in Example Finder >> Analyzing and Processing Signals FFT and Frequency Analysis.  There is an entire Signal Processing palette that should contain the functionality that you need.
I hope this helps.  Post back if you have further questions.

  • Serious problem with CPU "maximum frequency"

    Hello,
    I have a problem with my W510.
I think that this problem has been around since I purchased it, or at least since a month or so after I purchased it.
When I plug power in or out it almost always affects the CPU's maximum frequency, as can be seen in Windows 7 Resource Monitor, and also in a program called CPU-Z which actually shows the current Core Speed.
When things work properly, the core speed is a little over 3,000 Mhz.
However, this speed changes whenever I plug the power in or out.
It usually changes for the worse when I plug the power IN!
Often, upon plugging it in, the speed drops to around 1,000 Mhz. Then I plug it out - and the speed goes back to 3,000 Mhz. Plug it back in - 2,500 Mhz. Plug out - stays on 2,500 Mhz. Plug in - 1,500 Mhz. Plug out - 2,500 Mhz. Plug in - 3,000 Mhz. Plug out - 3,000 Mhz, etc. Every once in a while it even drops to 300 Mhz.
It seems to be random and arbitrary. Sometimes it takes me 10, 15, even 20 times of plugging the power out and back in to get it to work at 3,000 Mhz.
The machine is new, there is no fan noise, and anyway the changes are directly correlated to plugging and power in and out, and they never occur on their own - so it's definitely not overheating or anything like that.
I also don't think that it's an issue with the power itself, since it happens to me in different places and different countries, and in every place if I try to re-plug the power enough times - it will eventually be resolved (so obviously there is enough power).
Is there anyone else who's experiencing this problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have found that Throttlestop helps me with my own speedstep problem. The speed moves a lot at light usage due to speedstep, but when i use a cpu benchmark to load the four cores they set to max speed and don't move. You could give it a try.

    Hey MPM,
Since Windows recognized the board as a PCI device, it sounds like a
general driver error.  The NI-DAQ driver would be needed to
communicate with Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and
LabVIEW.  For LabVIEW 5.1 the current available version is NI-DAQ
6.9.3.  I would recommend doing the following.
    1.  Uninstall the current version of the drivers.
    2.  Shut  down the computer and remove the PCI-6024E.
    3.  Reboot the computer, download and install NI-DAQ 6.9.3, which is available at ni.com/downloads.
    4.  Shut down the computer and resintall the PCI-6024E.
Once you reboot, you may be prompted with the found hardware
wizard.  Once it is completed, the board should be available in
    MAX and LabVIEW.

  • How does the system Validyne pressure transducer -- Validyne CD280-Dual-- SCB-68-- PCI-6024E-- LABVIEW work and how can we calibrate the pressure transducer?

    Hello there,
I am completely new to the LABVIEW software.
I am learning an existing LABVIEW code of my pressure acquisition system (attached) which has the data path as following: Validyne pressure transducer --> Validyne CD280-Dual--> SCB-68--> PCI-6024E--> LABVIEW and I have some question:
    1. How does the complete system from transducer to the LABVIEW work? ie if we apply the pressure at the transducer, it will change the resistance of the transducer then ....?
    2. How can I find the equation which express the relationship between the pressure and the voltage at the oupt of the Validyne CD280-Dual in the LABVIEW?
    3. If I want to do the calibration for the transducer, what are steps?
