MBP keeps ejecting SL installer disk

Can someone please let me know what my options are to make my MBP take the Snow Leopard installer disk? I tried the restart and "C" option, that got me no where... Please help! Anyone?

Try this. Open Disk Utility and let it repair permissions and check the HD itself. If that turns out OK, disconnect all that is connected to your Mac (except for keyboard and mouse), and try running the installer of Snow Leopard again.

• My MBP keeps ejecting my install disks!

I thought I'd make backup copies of my SL disks, but the Machine keeps ejecting them. It reads other disks just fine, including the Tiger install disks off an iMac.
The SL disks will read fine in the iMac, but the MBP doesn't want them!
And once I've solved that, how do I copy them? On the iMac I keep getting the installer if I click on the disk icon.

The SL disks are DL DD DVD's. Perhaps your optical drive is having problems reading those. Take it to an Apple store or AASP.
How to Make a Non-Commercial DVD copy of MAC OS X
Making a DVD Image:

Step 1. Insert the retail Mac OS X Install DVD into your drive.

Step 2. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).

Step 3. In Disk Utility, you will notice a white pane on the left hand side. In the pane, select the Mac OS X Install DVD by clicking on it once.

Step 4. Click New Image on the Disk Utility toolbar.

Step 5. A dialog box will appear. Give the new image a name. I used 'Mac OS X Install DVD'. Select the destination where you wish to save it. Leave Image Format at Compressed (default) and Encryption at None (default).

Step 6. Click Save to begin creating the image.

Step 7. Once your image has been created DO NOT mount it. Leave the image alone and proceed to the next section.

Burning the Image:

Step 1. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).

Step 2. Click Burn on the Disk Utility toolbar (upper left).

Step 3. Navigate to where you saved the DVD image created in the previous section. Click on the image file, then click the Burn button. Do not drag and drop the image file into Disk Utility during this step.

Step4. Insert a DVD when prompted and proceed to Burn it. (use good quality media).

Not sure which iMac you have or what OS X it is running, but
If your iMac is running Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks, use OS X Recovery instead of the Install Disc.
see > OS X: About OS X Recovery
If your iMac is running Snow Leopard or earlier, then something is wrong with your Superdrive or your Install Disc.
If other DVDs and CDs are working in your Superdrive, then contact Apple Support and order a new Install Disc.
see > http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
If no DVDs or CDs are working in your Superdrive....?
1. Try the steps, at > Apple Computers: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive
2. Try cleaning it with a Lens cleaning kit. example > Memorex-CD-DVD-Player-Laser-Lens-Cleaner
3. Contact your local AASP and make a service appointment. see > https://locate.apple.com/

• DVD-r read error; keeps ejecting burnt backup disk

Hi all,
I'm running a Dual 1.8 G5 with OS 10.4.8. After 3 years of use, I had some serious hard drive errors and had to reinstall the OS, but not before backing up my system on DVD-rs using Disk Utility. I checked them on my old system and they read fine; however they aren't reading now that I've reinstalled the OS; as I insert the disk, the drive hums as if it's reading the disk and then ejects it.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.
Thanks

• How do I eliminate the reappearance of the installation disk?

Every time I open Firefox, the installation disk and window reappear on my desktop. Then I quit Firefox, eject the installation disk, and the process repeats.

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the DMG file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.
• Apple USB DVD burner ejects any blank disk

I have MacAir with OS Maveriks 10.9.1 and external Apple's USB DVD drive. The drive keeps ejecting any blank disk when inserted. Tried several. What is the problem? Both devices are 14 months old.
Any help?

Ejects after several seconds then it a dirty laser diode lens
Ejects immediately then it's a damaged loader usually
Given its age, warranty work out of the question. you may investigate the Ifixit.com videos on tearing down the ext superdrive for a lens cleaning or attempting same yourself without teardown.
I've fixed many myself, 9 times out of 10 its a dirty lens with dust.

• Mac Keep Ejects Installation Media, Hard disk is empty, How to install OSX

I installed Ubuntu in my Mac Mini, Later my apple wireless keyboards pairing is not working and to pair i need to have OS X installed, since no osx installed, to boot i used to press the option key. So now I formated linux, now my hard disk is empty no partition or nothing. But the problem is my mac mini keeps ejecting OS X installation media (original dvd set came with mac mini) but I can boot from ubuntu live cd. How can I solve this problem. Some one told me to reset my pram, but I was unable to do it. Pressing Command Option P R does nothing. Please help me out. without my machine working I'm like a dead man.

Yeah I managed to get one, and tried c key to boot from the disk. It doesn't work. The current status of my machine is. My hard drive is clean (unpartitioned space, I formated it). Still Mac Ejects OS X installation media which came with the mac mini, But I can boot using Ubuntu,Solaris, etc disks and I can install them. How can I install OS X in this situation. Since I'm doing my PG course in Computer Science, the system is an urgent stuff for me.. Please help me out.
And why mac is ejecting the actual original installation media even when it's taking all other disks ?? I tried two different disks to make sure if it's the trouble of the disk, but that's not the case. I only ejects OS X disks and ejects all OSX Disks (i tried tiger disk, and leopard disk)

• Both Windows and Mac OSX won't read/keep ejecting disks

I erased my harddrive and reinstalled Snow Leopard this way I could get Bootcamp up and running. After I reformatted the computer, I have been having serious issues with it reading any Windows CDs. The first issue was with the installation CD. My computer would take it in and spit it back out, it did this over and over. It was a Windows XP full installation CD. The same CD I have used when installing Bootcamp in the past. I also tried a Windows 7 full install CD and had the same issue. After many attempts, it finally read the XP CD and I had XP running. I installed the drivers and went about using XP. For the most part things felt alright, but I was still having issues with CDs. I would put most CDs in and it would just eject them, or sometimes eat them, and not eject them at all. Other times it told me some software CDs were blank, when I knew they weren't. The CDs worked in every other computer, but not in my machine. I figured I would get around it by using disk images all the time, but this has proven complicated and annoying.
Today I finally got the Vista upgrade CD to work. When in Vista I was still having CD problems, but then things got worse. Daemon Tools wouldn't work anymore and neither would Alcohol 120%. It seems like things just stopped working all of a sudden. The Windows 7 CD wouldn't read eother so I was stuck with a pretty useless partition and operating system.
I just erased my drive again and reinstalled OS X 10.6. I am still having the problem with CDs. It keeps spitting out the Windows CDs/Programs designed for Windows CDs or is telling me they are blank media. I am at a brick wall here. I really would like to get Windows up and running so I can run my important software. Does anyone know what could be the problem? I appreciate the help.

So, if he has a OS 9 bootable G4, do you think the external USB floppy would work under OS 9?
Also, if he upgrades the 7200 to OS 9, do you think he could install that drive into the G4 and boot from it? I think there were some options in earlier OS <9 that let you do a custom install for all computers, not just the target one, which is handy for an external drive that you might use to boot more than one comptuer from, but I guess that depends on the installation disk?
Networking is a good way to migrate the files over, but if you plan on retiring the 7200, why not take the hard drive out and put it in the G4, at least temporarily to copy stuff over.

• IMac Bootcamp keeps ejecting Windows 7 installtion disk

Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro which used to have Windows 7 on via Bootcamp but the Windows partition started crashing so in the end I uninstalled windows using Bootcamp reverting my hard drive to just one partition. Now I'm attempting to do the same thing again. I followed the correct procedures but for some reason my mac keeps ejecting the Windows 7 installation disk. It's the same disk I used when I first installed Windows. Any ideas?

This is for UltimateRainbow
On the OSX side, if you put in the Windows DVD, can OSX read the DVD?

• Installer Disk Will not Quit and Will not Eject. Please Help!

I did a really stupid thing today: I tried to install Leopard on my iBook G4, not thinking/realizing that it needs more RAM than it has to be able to install it. Now, 10 hours later, the installer disk will not quit and I can find no way to eject it. I have shut down the computer several times and then restarted while holding down the mouse button, but the **** thing just starts cranking away again. At some point, I was able to pull down and choose Quit for the Installer; eventually, a thing came up giving three options: I think they were "restart" "choose startup disk" and "don't quit." I followed the directions that also appeared and clicked "choose startup disk." It has continued to chug away for the past hour after doing that. Is there any hope that I can
a. recover my poor little iBook
b. recover the Leopard Installer Disk? I sincerely hope not to have to buy another one!
Thanks.

There was another thread on this very topic recently, and many things were tried, but I don't know if anything ever worked and I was unable to find that thread.
However, here is something from the MBP forum that sounds like it might also work for an iBook:

• Mac mini mid 2010 hard disk keeps ejecting itself

My mac mini is set up with two sata disks installed, one is a 128 ssd and the other a 1tb hdd. Since installing mountain lion, the hdd keeps ejecting itself, and i get a message saying - this hard disk was not properly ejected. then i wont find the disk in finder, or disk utility!. I then have to remove the hdd from the mac mini and plug it into a usb caddy, which finds it no problem, and then when i put it back in the mac mini, it works again!! so the disk is not faulty i dont think. It then works for a period as random as a few hours, to a few weeks and then i will randomly get the "this disk was not ejected properly" message and it has again dissapeared. I use the mac mini as a media centre and it isnt really being pushed hard when the failure happens.
Anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong?

Hello, Sorry for the late reply.
When i open console after the ejection i get the message:
01/11/2012 22:32:42.000 kernel[0]: Failed to issue COM RESET successfully after 3 attempts. Failing...
01/11/2012 22:32:42.000 kernel[0]: disk1s2: no such device.
Hope this gives a clue, i'm tearing my hair out over it. there is absolutely nothing wrong with the disk itself.
If i do a full shutdown and restart, it finds the disk again no problems, but if i simply choose to restart from the menu, it does not find the disk again.
Thanks for any help you can give on this. I have only been experiencing this issue since i upgraded to mountain lion.

I had 4 installation disk but the last installation disk is missing. I still allow to keep the Photoshop , Indesign and illustrator software in the computer but i can only keep that on a trial of 30 days. In order to use it permanently, I have to activate the Suite. As the phone activation service is no longer available. I try the online activation as mention in the phone message when I tried to call, but is not successful@ as it didn't bring to an activation page. What should I do to activate it or solve the problem?

There should be an option tro activate when you run any of the installed programs.
