MDM Product History cMDM A2I MDM

I've searched this forum and browsed can someone describe the product history (SAP MDM) and evolution but that answer doesn't go deep enough.
Back about 9 years ago SAP was trying to develop an MDM product they called cMDM (collaborative Master Data Mgmt).
I'm aware of their 2004 acquisition of A2I and how they based their new MDM Product on that acquisition.
I understand that the Product portion of SAP MDM is based on the A2i PIM acquisition. My question is, is the Customer and Vendor SAP MDM solution also based on A2i, or is it based on the earlier SAP cMDM development work?
I realize this is kind of like product archeaology, but I have a client that wants to do MDM for Cust and Vendor but won't touch the A2i solution.
Thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe
Today the "A2i solution" is the only MDM solid solution that SAP provides, there are many customers using Vendor and Customer scenarios using the SAP MDM solution.
Which customer are you talking about ? Why he doesn't want to use the A2i solution ?
Thanks

Yaron

can someone describe the product history (SAP MDM) and evolution

    Hi SasikanthReddy M,
can someone describe the product history (SAP MDM) and evolution
This is what one of the blog says on this:
MDM product was available for the last few years and its last version was MDM 3.0 this product was ABAP based tool with very strong capabilities in large scale data integration and consolidation between SAP systems, the problem with this tool was that it was too complicated for implementation and less strong in the client side.
In order to make it better SAP had to decide whether to invest more development efforts or buy some other product that will be able to provide the missing capabilities, during the quest for this tool SAP found this Israeli company called A2I and their product called xCat. Even though the xCat product was intended for product catalog management SAP identified the grate potential in it both from conceptual and technical point of view and decided to buy it and make it SAPu2019s MDM product.
At first this product was called MDME (MDM Extension) but now it was announced as the MDM official tool by SAP. The MDM5.5 tools is a very sophisticated tool from one hand providing great Data Modeling , data consolidation, fast data extraction , and search capabilities, and from the other hand it is very simple for installation and implementation (both from infrastructure point of view and end user experience). So now SAP has a very strong offering in the MDM world:
Now the lastest version of MDm is MDM 5.5 SP06.
    Hope it helps.
    *Kindly reward points if helpful

  • Pull Opportunity Contact Ship Address using Opportunity-Product History

    Hi,
I am looking for a way to report opportunities and I need to be able to pull the opportunity contact's ship to address. I'm using the Opportunity-Product History view as it is the only one that has the custom fields that I need.
Any ideas as I didn't see opportunity contact to choose from, much less the address.

I'm still confused, obviously I don't know how to do a union. It keeps telling me that I must select the same number of columns from both reports. I thought that this would be as simple as a JOIN in SQL...I guess not.
FYI, I can't find the key contact address anywhere, anyway.

  • Upload Summary Production History data

    Hi All,
I want to upload data for summary production history data, scenario is that there is no transaction to upload the data and there is a table called s225 that contains the data related to summary production history data. I can not use any BDC or LSMW. Does any one of you know about any BAPI through which I can upload the data into table s225 or I will have to directly insert the records from data file using a report into table s225. What should be the right approach when there is no transaction defined to upload data and no BAPI is also given.
    Thanks
    Mahen

    Hi Mahender,
    1. Are u sure only one table S225 is involved for this ?
    2. If so, then u can directly upload
       into this table using
GUI_UPLOAD (upload data into ITAB, same structure as S225)
       MODIFY (sql)
          ie. Modify S225 from itab
              (in one shot)
    3. However, it is not recommended
to tamper data of standard tables directly.
sap may stop support due to this !

  • Clearing Product History?

trying to run a report on who still has gw7 still on their machine, the problem is, according to zcm more users than we actually have still show having gw7 and we know at least half got gw8.
ideally we'd like to see about clearing the history, we really only need to know whats currently installed, not what was installed in the past

And how often have you configured inventory to run, the default is 30 days I believe? And also this might help: Removed or upgraded products are still showing in inventory

  • Product ownership

I am doing a lot of opportunity-product history reporting using custom fields in the 'Owned by User' section to add extra information about the opportunity owner
In the opportunity-product history the Owned by User relates to the product owner and not the opportunity owner. This is fine when specific products have been created by the user but I am having big problems where no products have been specified yet.
Unlike other posts here I want to report opportunities with 'Unspecified' products
My reports are going wrong where the 'owner' of the Unspecified' product does not agree with the opportunity owner
My tests suggest the person who created the opportunity is not automatically the owner of the Unspecified product
Does anyone know HOW CRM on Demand decides who the owner of the Unspecified Product should be?
So far I have reviewed over 100 opportunity records and it is definitely not always teh person who created the opportunity. There seems to be a link with opportunity and account teams but nothing I can put my finger on....

    Thanks Tim
The reports contain custom fields in the 'Owned by User' section. Its not a case of displaying the owner but extra information about the owner
We need to understand how the ownership is assigned or how to change ownership of the Unspecified product
    Best wishes

  • How tomaintain product revenue when the oppty is in sales stage Closed/Lost

When the opportunity is in the closed/lost stage the product revenue is always zero. How can we move the opportunity to closed/lost but still maintain the revenue values for the products.
We use the product revenue to report opportunity revenue...
    thanks..

I always use "Opportunity-Product History" for my pipeline reports. In this subject area "Product Revenue" is available for Opportunities which are "Closed/Lost". I would log this as a bug with Oracle as it clearly should not set the Product Revenue to 0 in the Product History subject area.
In this subject area I can create reports and trace back Opportunity Revenue and Product Revenue. I have multiple pipeline reports running at both levels which are accurate for mutiple deals. If you do decide to use this subject area beware of the following:
    - Dont use the Sales Stage or Probability Successs % at Product level as it does not update as a user steps through the sales stages. Use the opportunity details for accuracy
    - If you want a weighted product revenue calculate this based on the Opportunity Probability % and the Total Product Revenue, do not use the out of the box metrics
Regarding your second question, Opportunity Revenue puts the total opportunity amount in your pipeline on the date of the opportunity close date. It also gets updated when a user adds a product and presses the "Update Opportunity Totals" button, this sets the Opportunity Revenue to the total of the Product Revenue from the products you entered. Sometimes users forget to press this button and the revenue is out of alignment. Opportunity Revenue can also be updated if you have the setting "Product Averaging" enabled in your company profile, this takes an average of the Product Revenue and updated the Opportunity Total when a user presses the "Update Opportunity Totals" button. These metrics are updated each evening, you are using the History subject areas which take 24hours to refresh. Does that answer your question?

  • Updating product revenue close date based off opportunity close date

We do not use the product revenue close date, only the opportunity close date. We need to get the fiscal month of the opportunity close date but we have several reports the need to use the opportunity product history area and that does not contain the fiscal month for the opportunity. If we did a combined report, we cannot offer the user any prompts.
Does anyone know how to get the opportunity close date fiscal month from the opportunity products area? Is there a way to update the product revenue close date when the opportunity close date it updated?
    Thanks

    Hi David,
In the universe you describe you have the opportunity 'Close Date'. Use a 'case-when' expression to create the 'Fiscal Month' you need.
Other than that you can use the JoinFieldValue function in the application to retrieve the opty close date, but that will require you to update product revenue for it to trigger which probably won't work for you.
    Good luck.

  • Reports by Product

i have reports by product but i need the reports for fiscal month and fiscal year..
I have seen in the analysis by default a "pick list" which asks you to month and fiscal year need to see ..
    That is what I need.
can help me some one ?

Opty - products history report has this option. On the right hand side there is a date section and it has the fiscal options.
You can open the default analytics reports, I suggest you open the report you want to like and see how it is done, then you can replicate it in your report. It sounds like a column selector.

  • Report Custom object with product?

if I want to create a report with the fields of a custom object in relationship with the fields of the product,is possible?
Because when i cilck in Analytics there aren't Custom Object link and in Product History isn't present the Object link where i select the columns.
Also when I go to the panel of Reporting there is not a link there is not the link that reports Custom Object with Product, also in Product Opportunity there isn't a Object link.
How can I be connected for a report these 2 entity?
    Regards Vale

    Hi Vale,
Unfortunately, not every object relationship is exposed within analytics and reports, and that is the case with the relationship you are trying to report on (i.e. Custom Object and Product). Also, Custom Objects can only be reported on using real time reporting (as opposed to the historical analytics).

  • What Time of Day Does Apple Release a Product?

    Hello,
I want to pre-order the Apple Watch on April 10th. I want to order it as early as possible, so I can receive it as soon as possible. My question is if Apple will release the product at 12:00AM on the 10th, or some time later like 6:00AM. From my previous product history, with the iPhone 5S, It was available to buy, (not pre-order), by 7:30 AM. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi...
    Safari > Preferences > RSS
Every 30 minutes is as often Safari can update RSS articles.
AFAIK, it's not possible to set it up for a specific time of day.
You might check Safari > Safari Extensions. Might be something under Productivity under Categories.

  • Opportunity Team - Owner

    Hi Folks,
    Using the Opportunity Team functionality:
When a user creates an Opportunity against an account that they do not own, the account owner is added to the 'Opportunity Team' along with the user who created the opportunity in the first place. Is there any way to prevent this? We do not want the account owner to be added to the oppotunity team automatically.
When the record is written to the warehouse the 'Account Owner' is listed as the record owner 'Owned By User - User Name' and not the user who created the opportunity (Opportunity Product History Subject Area). We need to use this field as it also drives 'Report To' and 'Supervisor'. When you look at the opportunity in the application and scroll to the 'Opportunity Team' tab the correct person is listed as having "Owner" for 'Opportunity Access' yet this is not reflected in the warehouse? Any Ideas?
    Thanks

Have you defined an account team and have you provided access to opportunities in the account team location? If so they will automatically flow into all the opportunities you create. If you leave the opportunity access blank in the account level, they will not be added to the every opportunity that is created.

  • How can I search multiple columns in a SQL command of Union tables

    Hi:
We have a database with tables that are nearly identical that we use for production and production history.
I have created an SQL command in Crystal 2008 to joins several of the tables and then added a "UNION" to connect the History and Prod tables.
I need to search multiple (3 total) columns for 5 different data types, to return the records being investigated. I tried this using an "OR" statement in the where clause and have had inconsistant results.
The first two or statement function perfectly the third works as long as the value being passed is numeric and the last two fail consistantly with invalid column name errors. It appears that crystal is getting confused and passing the wrong data type especially if I do a new search using a different option for the "?SearchParam"
Can some one offer some insite on how I can search these fields to return the record data needed

This is actually a fairly easy fix - because of the way the "OR" works in SQL, you need to surround each "set" of statements in the or with parentheses.  So, it would look something like this:
    Where
    ({?aSearchParam} = 1 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND "TBSLI21"."LI21_OR_NO"=Cast( {?Search_Val} as Int))
    or
    ({?aSearchParam} = 2 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND "TBSLI33"."LI33_CI_OR_NO"=Cast( {?Search_Val} as numeric(12,0)))
    or
    ({?aSearchParam} = 3 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND Convert( VarChar(20),"TBSLI33"."LI33_EXT_SYS_SL_OR_NO")= Convert( VarChar(20), {?Search_Val}))
    or
    ({?aSearchParam} = 4 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND Convert( VarChar(8),"TBSLI21"."LI21_OP_GRP_NO") = Convert( VarChar(8), {?GroupNo}))
