MDT 2012 won't login after first reboot - workgroup only

I am setting up an mdt server for a new company that we accquired, right now they are only in a workgroup, with no network connectivity for at least 2 months back to our domain.  We are using WIN7 ENT X64SP1.  We do this within our own domain logging
in with a local account without problems, but for some reason not working here.
<AutoLogon>
<Enabled>true</Enabled> <Username>custom</Username>      <Password> <Value>password</Value>
<PlainText>true</PlainText></Password>
<Domain>.</Domain>
<LogonCount>999</LogonCount></AutoLogon>
So the question is what do we do with the domain part, we can't specify a pc name as it will change each time

You should be able to leave the domain as is. My guess is that you do not have the local account configured. Configuring a custom logon account is a two step process, the first being to create an account with the password you wish to have, and the second
step being to configure the information above with the custom account you've created.  Validate that the account exists under oobeSystem > UserAccounts>LocalAccounts. Hope this helps.

Macbook Pro won't login after sleep (sleep with low battery --> mac turned off maybe it's called save sleep)
So if I hit the powerbutton my mbp booted like it is booting from the save sleep (so very fast and the login screen is there in about 10 sec.and there is no apple logo while booting just the desktop screen in "unsharp" ore foggy however...)
Then when i see the login (if the keyboard backlight turned on) i wand do tipe in my code but it won't work... the trackpad is not working; and when i plug-in a usb mouse the mbp is not powering on the usb-mouse (laser is off)
    Why is that this way?
Is there n option to wake up the mbp fromm deep/save sleep without haveing issiues after that?
    THX

Sorry for such a long delayed response...
I was able to get to an apple store this past weekend, and let me tell you... I'm about finished with there great "support".
Right before I went to the store, I tried to eject a disk. Well the cloth in the SuperDrive (I assume to protect the drive from dust and such) Pulled up with my disk. So I get the Apple store, describe my problem and what happened with the cloth piece. The "Genius" writes up a form and tells me they have to run diagnostic and it will take a couple days... and I will get a call when its done (1-3 days).
Well on day number 3 I called up the store and they told me it was ready to be picked up? I asked if anything had been fixed and they told me they could not reproduce my "sleep issue", so they couldn't fix that.. but told me the cloth piece in the SuperDrive had been fixed.
I drive an hour (one way) to the Apple store to find that all they did was PULLED OUT the cloth... they did not replace it! So basically I have a hole for a Super Drive.
I asked why I was not called to say that my computer was ready to be picked up... didn't get an answer on that one.
I asked why my SuperDrive was said to be fixed, when nothing was done... they told me that it would have to be sent out to the factory store for that to be fixed (FIRST TIME THEY MENTIONED THAT!) Oh, and that would take 5-7 business days. Well that's not going to happen right now considering I'm a college student that NEEDS a working computer!
So I go home, angry... start just putting all my important documents back on the computer. And the screen starts blinking!!!! I guess now I have the same thing described in another post on these forms...
Lets just say that I'm not very happy with Apple right now! If anybody else has success on either the sleep issue or the screen blinking issue, please let me know!
    Thank you!

  • Workgroup setting won't stay after system reboot

Even though this issue was reported in 10.7, the issue still remains in 10.8.
    Background:
I have a home network consisting of a iMac (2011) and two Windows 7 PCS connected to a Netgear Gigabit switch. I on occasion transfer files to and from my Mac and my Windows PCs.
Pre OSX Lion, This situation worked fine. But since Lion and now Mountain Lion I am no longer able to copy files to my Mac from my Windows Pcs. Copying files from my Mac to my Windows Pcs work fine. In troubleshooting this issue, I found out in the Network system preference option after selecting ethernet and then the advanced button, then clicking on the Wins tab, that the Netbois and Workgroup fields are blank. After providing a Netbois name and the workgroup name the same as the Windows Pcs, then selecting the OK button generally works. Sometimes I have to go in multiple times before it takes the information but once it does everything works as it suppose until I reboot or shutdown and startup. If I do either when I go back into the Network in the System Preferences the fields are blank again.
I've followed some of the suggestions from the other support documents but they did not work for me:
    1. Deleting the com.apple.systemperference.plist file and .lockfile
    2. Create a duplicate ethernet service add the necessary changes then make that ethernet service the active one after disabling the original one.
None of these worked. I submitted on Apple Feedback this issue when I was still running OSX 10.7.2 but it never was fixed and now Mountain Lion behaves the same way. I will be submitting once again in hopes someone at Apple pays attention.
It seems this issue has to do with the Apple inhouse developed SMB share implementation. When they was using the SAMBA software I had no issues.
I even did a clean install of Mountain Lion to make sure the problem would not be transferred from Lion. Didn't make a difference.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
That work around is great. A lot easier that typing in the info repeated before it takes just to have to do it again after the next reboot. If anyone has access to the Apple Bug Reporter, please add this bug for all of our sakes.
    Two things.
    1. After the initial ML install, the word workgroup was in the workgroup field. And that did not disappear after each reboot. Only when changing it to something else is when the problem manifests.
    2. I wonder if the Macbook Air and The new Retina Macbook Pro has this same issue being that they too come with SSD styled storage. If anyone have these macs please reply with your findings.
    Thanks
p.s. Again would really appreciate someone with Apple Bug Reporter access to log this issue. Thanks again

  • Task sequence fails to resume after first reboot - Post Installation Task Sequence

    Hi everyone,
I am unable to deploy a Post Installation Task Sequence whenever I add an application to the "custom tasks" folder in the task sequence.  If I create a blank Post Installation Task Sequence w/o making any changes, it deploys fine and gives
me a summary page w/ no errors. Just to be clear, Litetouch runs fine when I kick off "cscript litetouch.vbs" from an elevated cmd prompt when logged in as administrator, but after reboot it boots to windows and does nothing.
I know it's not deploying because it's leaving around a mapped drive to the share, a SMSTaskSequence folder and MININT folder on the target machine.   My understanding is that those are supposed to get cleaned up by LTIcleanup.wsf at the end of the
    task sequence.
The BDD.log doesn't seem to be of much use.  The last line of the log says "sms task sequencer already found on c:\minint\tools\x64" and then it does nothing.
FWIW, I'm able to deploy using the standard task sequence and also able to sysprep and capture. The application that I am trying to install is just a batch file that adds the reg key to hide the start menu, then reboot.  I am not rebooting in the script,
I'm telling the application to do the reboot in MDT.
I know to a certainty that the target machine (a VM) has been sysprepped and am able to establish a connection to the deployment share so I'm kind of at a loss.  Also looked over Keith's FAQ on the subject and couldn't find any similarities to my issue.
Any help is appreciated.  I can provide logs if necessary.  Thanks!

Well, I created a fresh deploymentshare on a fresh windows server 2012 VM and am still having the same problem.  If I create a blank Post OS Installation Task and make no changes, it deploys fine to the target vm (win8.1).  If I have an app (chrome)
that I have set to reboot after installation, it always (tested this 30+times) fails to resume the task sequence.  I get no final confirmation page and a big mess that I clean up with LTIcleanup.wsf.
The deployment share has full (everyone) permissions to the share and I have full perms set to domain admin group for ntfs.  It seems like something goes wrong with the reboot cycle, but autologin seems to work fine with the admin pw so I'm really confused.
Like I said, the bdd.log in c:\windows\temp\deploymentshare doesn't have any errors.  I've tested this both on joined and unjoined (workgroup) machines and it makes no difference.
I should note that I can deploy Chrome and other apps sequentially as long as reboots are not involved.  So far, I've only had this problem if the reboot occurs with the first application.  Haven't yet tested on reboots w/ other apps in the sequence.
FWIW, this is starting to look like this:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2db5f184-8332-4f63-b1ad-385a6d893f8c/mdt-2013-windows-81-application-install-with-reboot-problem?forum=mdt
Can someone tell me why this might be happening?  Is this a bug with this task sequence? Would someone mind testing this to see if there's just something wrong in my environment?
    I'd appreciate it.  Thanks.

  • Mac Pro (v1.1) won't login after installing new video card

    Hello,
I have a Mac Pro from 2006 and after my NVidia 7300GT burned, I bought a Geforce 8800GT to replace my old card. After I installed it to the motherboard following the user manual, I turn on my mac and I get the white screen with the apple logo but it won't login. I left it like that for 30 minutes, then I forced restart and the same thing happens. Does anyone have a clue why this happens and how can it be fixed?
    Thank you

8800 required 10.5.2 or later (10.5.3 DVD and 10.5.6 DVDs were sold, though now $29 will get you 10.6.3).
No OS earlier than 10.5.2, in addition to there having been two versions of the card, EFI32 (2006-7) and EFI64 (2008+).
my link to ebay doesn't list it now:

  • My iPad, purchased in Nov. 2012 won't start after the most recent IOS update, and it's fully charged. Any suggestions?

My iPad purchased in 11/2012 won't start since updating to the most recent IOS version in 3/2015.
It's fully charged but pressing the HOME button or SLEEP/WAKE button, individually or together doesn't have any effect.
    Suggestions?

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Messages - no user is allowed to login after server reboot

    Hello all together,
I had to reboot a XServe with Mac OS X 10.8.3 and Server App 2.2.1 installed using the command line because I couldn't connect via ARD anymore at that time and the users couldn't login at all with their OD accounts.
After the reboot no user was able to login to the messages server which wasn't any problem before this reboot. "User ID or password is wrong". The messages service in server.app is running. I restarted it twice without any advance. The passwordservice server log shows up all requests and the passwordservice error log has no entries at all. I couldn't find any related entries in any of the logs I searched in, especially not in the system.log.
The users trying to login are local network users which are allowed to use this service and are all members of one group which is also allowed to use this service.
If I turn the messages service off and try it again I get the same error. Therefor I can't even say if the service is definitely running but port 5223 is opened.
    Any suggestions?
    I really appreciate your help!
    Kind regards,
    ragob66

    Hello,
    for information purposes:
A second server reboot resolves this issue!
    Thanks!

  • Updating servers with all approved updates (also dependencies after first reboot)

    Hello all,
We have two WSUS servers for updating our WS environments (one master, and one replica / two sites).
However, when we approve a list of updates - not all updates will be installed.
After the reboot the remaining updates (dependency updates) weren't installed :( .
Is it possible to define two schedule times? (or is there a other solution?)
We want all updates that are approved to be installed in the maintenance window of our customers.
Hope to hear from you and thank you in advance,
    Joey.

[W]hen we approve a list of updates - not all updates will be installed.
After the reboot the remaining updates (dependency updates) weren't installed :( .
Correct. Update are only installed at the daily scheduled installation event. The good news is that this 'dependency' scenario rarely occurs, and almost never occurs in a single month's of updates; most likely this is a manifestation of a machine behind
in patches being caught up through several months of updates.
Is it possible to define two schedule times? (or is there a other solution?)
If you know this scenario exists, my suggestion is that you create a special WSUS Target Group designed to manage machines in this condition, and you address the issue by assigning an approval deadline to the "dependent" updates, which will force their installation
to occur at the first available opportunity after the deadline expires (e.g. immediately after the machine reboots from having installed hte prereq updates).
If such scenarios are legitimate, they will identify themselves in pre-deployment lab testing scenarios.

  • MDT 2013 Windows 8.1 Task sequence Stops After first Reboot. login

    Hi There,
The issue I am having is that After the OS gets laid down, and the Windows 8.1 computer reboots, The task sequence does not continue. It fails everytime. There are not any obvious errors that happen in the process that I can see in the logs. But I have
customized this process quite a bit and I could use some help. We are deploying potentionally to over 30,000 computers.
The test machine I have been using is the Surface pro 2.
The interesting part is after a failure is if I start the process over again ,  boots into PE, then run diskpart manually from command prompt to Clean Disk 0, and then reboot and start the MDT task sequence, it will deploy fine.
I also have a custom step that copies the TS media from the stick to a Recovery partition I create. The user can launch a -re-image or MDT refresh from an Icon/script, which will unhide this "recovery partition", and kick off a lite touch refresh.
This works succesfully everytime. We have remote locations with very slow links, so MDT over the network or MDT integrated with SCCM is not an option at this time. So this is the solution.
I am attempting to use MDT 2013 to deploy Windows 8.1 Offline, and using GPT partitions.
I am using a custom Format and partiition Step, that call the CustomDiskpart.txt script from %deployroot%\Scripts.
I am also using a Split image, as multi partitioned EFI/NTFS USB sticks are not a possibility for us , also, the USB sticks capable of this are seen by MDT as a "fixed drive" anyways. Which can cause issues in itself. So the LTIAPPLY.wsf has
been edited to search and apply ther split .swm files.  This works well.
After the Task sequence failure I have tried launching the Litetouch scripts from the C:\MINNINT folder manually to continue the sequence, but it doesnt  do anything.
I don't want to always be running Diskpart manually before imaging a new OEM computer. I needa second pair of eyes on this.
    Thank You in advance!

    Hi,
Thanks Again for taking a look.
I checked the sysprep log in the image and they look fine. No errors.
As requested here are some logs. Let me know if I can provide anything else.
    BDD.log
    litetouch.log
    SMSTS.log
Im not actually attempting to provide a recovery image. What I am doing is leveraging MDT to refresh the computer remotely. We can update the MDT media on the hidden data partition, when required and kick it off remotely. Some of the computers are very
remote, and without SCCM DP's, plus a combination of slow links and a lack of deskside techs made this a requirement. This works without incident.
The only issue I have is on a new computer if I run the sequence (offline USB media) it will fail the first time, unless I run a diskpart clean in PE first.. Then it will succeed. Refreshing the computer is fine.

  • MDT 2012 - Will not continue after Windows 8 x86 LTI Deployment First Logon - FAILURE (Err): 429: CreateObject(Microsoft.BDD.Utility) - ActiveX component can't create object

I've looked at all the other threads I could find in Technet that look close to this issue.
In my BDD.log, the last entry is "FAILURE (Err): 429: CreateObject(Microsoft.BDD.Utility) - ActiveX component can't create object" right after "RUN: regsvr32.exe /s "C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Tools\x64\Microsoft.BDD.Utility.dll""
    I have the following:
    C:\_SMSTaskSequence folder
    C:\MININT folder
LiteTouch.wsf link under the Startup Folder
    Deployment share is mapped properly
System logs in automatically as local administrator
Even with this, it does not automatically resume the imaging job. I do not understand why it is not continuing.
If I launch the LiteTouch.wsf from an Admin elevated cmd window, the Task Sequence resumes like nothing was wrong.
    Any guidance is appreciated!
EDIT1: I changed my customsetting.ini file to join a workgroup instead of the domain and it appears to be continuing without issue now. Is there something I am missing as to why it does not automatically run when it joins to a domain?

Just wanted to provide an update.
So, i took the suggestion of a few other blog posts and moved the object into the Computers Container in AD so it did not have any policies impacting it. After doing this, it properly cycles through the application installs and reboots in the Task Sequence
    while joined to the domain.
Is there an sort of comprehensive list of GPO settings that break MDT? The ones I have found (legal prompt, etc.) we do not do so it has to be something else.

  • Audio Won't Import After First Clip

So I'm having this weird glitch in Premiere the last few days.
The first video clip I drag into a timeline works fine. But after that, any clip I drag from the Project window onto the timeline will ONLY give me video - not audio... even though I know the audio is there. It even plays in the source preview window.
The only way to get both again after the first time is to drag multiple clips onto the timeline at once. That works for some reason.
Restarting the program doesn't alleviate the problem, and neither does restarting the computer. I've tried resetting my preferences, but that did not work. I also tried reinstalling the program, but that didn't work, either.
I can't seem to find anyone else on the web talking about this problem.
Anybody seen this before or have any ideas? It's super annoying.
Edit for more info: The "Drag Audio Only" function in the source window also will not work at all. "Drag Video Only" works fine.
Meanwhile, going back to Adobe Premiere CC (Rather than CC 2014) there is no such problems. But I can't do that on projects I'm already working on in CC 2014...

So I talked to customer support and they told me what to do. Apparently you need to make sure the "A1" on the very left is highlighted or it won't work. It will still import the first one since it's a new sequence, but after that you're sunk. I wonder why I never encountered this before. Oh well. Good to know.

  • Mac won't login after Leopard update

i recently ran the update for itunes and quicktime and it asked me to restart my computer. I did and everything looked fine. I try to log in and it would take me to the Setup Assint..the one you get when you are turning on your mac for the first time.
    what can i do?? thanks!

Try rebooting in safe mode. Restart and hold the shift key down when you hear the chime. You should then reach the login screen, and then choose restart from there. That has worked for most people.

    Hi Linux experts,

    "GRUB Loading stage2...."

    Hi,
I'm using Chan's article to install Linux on top of Vmware. His article is on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/chan-bul-vmware.html#2.
Maybe I missed step 11 of his instructions.....but it says leave the default /dev/sda1...thats what I did.

I upgraded my system this afternoon, but when the upgrade completed all my window decorations were gone and plasma as down.  I restarted kde from virtual console 1 and the login screen was brought up.  Now when i go to login i get stuck in an endless loop.  I type in my username and password, and then after a few seconds the login window reappears.
I checked /var/log/errors.log and there are a number of lines like this:
kdm_greet[3623]: Cannot open default user face
i then installed gdm which wouldn't log me in either, but gave an error along the lines of xclient doesn't exist
this error occured after installing xorg-server-1.6.1.901-1
any help would be appeciated as i can't use arch at all atm!

sorry, i forgot to mention it.  I've tried both of those things and niether helped.  Same problem.  I also changed the permissions on the /tmp directory which removed another error message to the effect of: cannnot save user authorization,
oh and just fyi, my disk is not full, there is at least 5gb free on that partition, so thats not what was causing that error.
