Memory slowly drops throughout the day

if i turn the phone off and take the battery out. then start afresh i have around 20 mg memory free. then throughout the day after using programs (i always quit them afterwards) the momory can drop down to as low as 6 mb by the end of the day, even with no apps open. i have handy taskman but cant seem to find anyway to restore the ram without turning the phone off again. any help
also can everyone tell me how many mb free you have after reseting the battery.

Which phone do you have?
It's probably a memory leak issue which may have been corrected in a later firmware update.

    I'm running iChat 3.1 (v417), using an AIM account. I'm on 10.3.4, a G5 2Ghz, and 2.5G Ram.
    I chat all day, do audio, video, even 4-way video conferencing. But about 6 times a day, iChat's connection stops, and I get a window saying that iChat is not connected. During that time, both Safari and Entourage continue to work and stay connected.
    Per Apple's site's directions, we have opened up the ports 5060 to 5353 as well as 16384-16403.

    We're on a cable modem, and the G5 is wired into a brand new Linksys router. We have the G5 set to a static IP, so it doesn't change.
    I'm not that familiar with the settings in a router, but I do wonder if some setting could be tweaked that would make iChat more stable.

    Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
    Using the phone while charging doesn't create a problem.. I do it all the time

    This is a known issue with the iPhone 5. Turn off the automatic time setting for the time being. It will most likely be corrected in an upcoming update to iOS if the tech press is to be believed.

    I did this with my iPad two and never really had issues but I would like to prolong the life of my new battery as much as possible. Is it okay to plug it to charge it for short bursts at a time throughout the day?

  • Passwords Required Throughout the Day

    I am a new user of Wireless Extreme. I have my non-wireless iMac desktop connected and also use Wireless Extreme to connect a wireless PC laptop to the internet.
    When I start my iMac in the morning, I am automatically connected to the internet - no sign on required. However, whenever my wireless PC laptop signs on, using a password, I am then asked to sign on my iMac desktop as well. I get the following message:
    The Internet connection is currently in use by another computer ( 172.16.1.13 ). Enter your DSL Account logon password to switch the Internet connection to this computer.
    Once I sign on my iMAc desktop, I get the following message:
    This computer is currently connected to the Internet. Close (quit) your web browser and re-open it to use your EarthLink Internet connection.To allow any machine on your local network to access your Internet connection without entering the logon password, click "Release Connection" below.
    This continues to happen throughout the day. The wireless PC also has to resign on to the network multiple times throughout the day. It seems that the iMac and wireless PC keep knocking one another off the internet connection. So my question is - is this the way Wireless Extreme is designed to operate or can I avoid the multiple signing on with both the wireless PC and my iMac desktop?

    You shouldn't have the problem of the 2 kicking each
    other. If you go into the Airport Admin Utility and
    under the Network tab, there should be a checkbox
    that says Distribute IP addresses checked. If that
    isn't checked, that is probably why the 2 computers
    are fighting for the same main IP from your modem.
    I made the change as you suggested, but still basically having the same problem. Either the wireless PC can use the internet or my non-wireless iMac desktop, but not both. In making the change you suggested, I noticed that I had three choices of the type of addressing I could use - 10.0.1.1, or 172.16.1.1, or 192.168.1.1. I don't know what these mean. 10.0.1.1 permits either computer, but not both to use the internet. I tried 172.16.1.1 and it locked out my iMac; I didn't try thr PC with this address scheme. There are other options available under networking, but I did not change them.

  • Horrible Speeds Throughout The Day

    The download speed randonmly increases and decreases throughout the day, rarely reaching higher than 45 Mbps especially at night. Has been like this for about a month now and I'm concerned, because my provisioned speeds are supposed to be Blast speeds over 100 Mbps. Can someone please help me? Note: this speed test was taken directly connected to the modem (no router involved).     How are things with your connection now? Could you try running the BT Speed tester and posting back your results. You will need to run the "Further Diagnostics" once the first test completes.

  • BT Hub 5 speeds dramatically dropping by the day

    Hi there,
    I have a serious issue regarding my BT broadband service, I was sold BT infinity 1 with expected speeds of around 28-32mbps.
    My Hub 5 was fitted on 6th December 2014 and all seemed fine at that time, when the engineer was here the speeds were around 37mbps (As if by magic!), but even after the engineer had left I was still getting speeds of around 30-32mbps which I was more than happy with.
    Over the latter end of December I noticed that the speeds had dropped off to around 24-28mbps, but I just put this down to local traffic on the line due to the busy Christmas period.
    Also in December I started to get periodically disconnected when using Xbox Live or Sky on demand services, again I know Xbox was suffering with hacking attacks and again it was a bust period so I just went with it.
    Now on to January, I thought that the speeds would again pick up, but to my dismay this did not happen and speeds seemed to teeter around 22-25mbps, I was not to fussed with this as that is good enough for me to get by on, but the disconnections persisted too and often left me having to restart the Hub 5 to get back on again.
    Then on Sunday 1st Jan, while I was using Sky on demand and Netflix I started to notice severe buffering issues, I decided to check my speeds again and was shocked to find them at 12mbps, this was just not fast enough to stream comfortably and this has now started to bother me as I often stream over the wireless network along with my kids watching youtube on the tablets.
    I have been regularly checking my speeds using 'OOKLA' speedtest as I always do and I am beginning to get concerned over what I am seeing, speeds are still dropping by the day and I am currently only getting 9mbps, a far cry from what I have been getting previously and from what I have signed up for.
    I have tried a few suggested tips, like changing the channel for wi-fi, splitting 2.4 and 5ghz for better connections with certain devices, resetting to factory defaults, restarting the hub, but nothing is working and I am worried that at this rate I will be down to 2-3mbps by the weekend and would have been better off with a cheap (non fibre) broadband.
    I have had no new additions to the house regarding technology and nothing has changed structurally to have caused interference on these levels, I even turned off every single device in the house (Sky boxes included) apart from my phone today and then placed it next to the Hub 5 (1 foot away) still only attaining 9mbps, something is seriously amiss.
    I have noticed a lot of talk about a new firmware that happened on 17/01/15, I have checked my hub was also updated on this date, could there be issues regarding the speed loss due to this firmware patch?
    Also looking at the official BT speed check, my line shows no issues and no work is currently going on in my area that I am aware of.
    I have heard that regularly restarting the hub may then result in it sending an error message back to BT to raise an issue and this itself can impair the performance, I have been advised to let it settle for 10 days without rebooting it.
    I feel at the moment that I am paying for something that I cannot actually use reliably enough to make it worth while and if this persists and I cannot find a resolution I may have to seek advice for terminating my contract early on terms of being mis-sold a product.
     I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions that you guys can offer me and I will be especially interested to hear what the official BT representatives reasons or excuses for this are.

  • Firefox keeps crashing constantly throughout the day

    Ever since my PC was reformatted and Firefox was installed, crashes have occurred throughout the day. First, Firefox goes into the "Not Responding" mode and then it will just crash! This happens constantly and it has become annoying and inconvenient. Here's the list of my last five crash reports:

    Have you tried the bascis from the manual?
    restart, reset, restore.
    Have you checked your settings to make sure that you do not have something running that you do not want to run?

    The easist way is probably to store the date the sequence number
    was last set, and then only increment the number if the date is
    different.
    If you just want a sequence number that changes once each a day,
    an alternative might be to just calculate the number of days
    since a particular date.
    In oracle this would be something along the lines of
    trunc(sysdate) - to_date('01-OCT-2001','DD-MON-YYYY') to give
    the number of days since October 1st.

  • Printers will not stay online throughout the day in Windows 8.1

    I am a systems administrator at a Law Firm and our managing partners request was to upgrade all of our attorneys to a device that will allow them to have a laptop and a tablet all-in-one.  So I recommended Windows 8 ultrabooks.  We ended up getting
    a mix of HP Elitebook Revolve and Sony Vaio Duo 13 ultrabooks, both with docking stations so that attorneys can continue using there desktop mouse and keyboard and monitors while at work, but can also undock and use there ultrabooks remotely. 
    Everything is working fine except for printing for some reason through out the day printers will go offline for no apparent reason.  We've got a billing program called Equitrac on our machines that will auto bill our clients when we print documents
    for that them, I figured that there was an issue with that so I uninstalled Equitrac and the problem still happened.  Group Policy deploys our printers so I disabled this policy and I've uninstalled the printer drivers and re-installed them to see if
    that works and printers will stay online for a short period of time and then they'll go offline again.  
    For a temporary fix right now I'm having to restart the Print Spooler service and the printers will come back online again.   This works for a few hours and then printers will go offline again.  I witnessed one of the ultrabooks showing the printers
    being online up until the point when the attorney pressed print and then all of them immediately went offline.  This isn't an occurrence on just 1 machine but is happening on probably 50% to 60% of them.
    Our support staff use the same printers on Windows 7 and they never go offline.  Is there something else that I can check on these Windows 8.1 Ultrabooks or is there a bug that still needs to be fixed from Microsoft?

    Based on my search, I found a KB that relate with Printer offline, you can refer to its solution for test.
    This problem occurs if the computer has the following registry value configured when you set the printer to the Offline status:
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\<print queue name>
    Value: PrinterOnLine
    Data: 0
    However, this value is not deleted by the Localspl.dll file when the print queue is deleted. Therefore, when you add a print queue that has the same name as the old print queue, the new printer queue inherits the Offline status of the deleted print queue.
    To resolve this issue, right-click the new print queue in the Printers and Faxes tool, and then clear the Use Printer Offline setting. This resets the registry key to the correct value. Alternatively, you can delete the registry key that is mentioned in
    the "Cause" section after you delete a print queue but before you add a new print queue of the same name.
