Metadata not saved in xmp, but in bridge cache

I have a script that sets the metadata for the following fields:
GPSLatitude
GPSLongitude
GPSAltitudeRef
GPSAltitude
and the data shows as having been applied in the Bridge Application, but the data is not in the sidecar XMP file, nor DNG files. If I move the file out of bridge the metadata goes away.
Is there something I'm doing wrong when setting these values?

Hi Omar,
I also was trying to insert GPS data in the XMP files, and came on to the same problem you encountered. I also don't understand why specific EXIF fields cannot be updated. I know they shouldn't be updated (in an user interface), but sometimes there are some exception, like we can find in this thread here.
However, I finally did find a solution, but it need some more testing to say it really works under all circumstances. Perhaps it can also be of any help on ohter EXIF fields.
Here is my solution:
1) Create a new XMPMeta object and fill in your GPS fields
2) Get the current XMP metadata from the selected thumbnail
3) Use XMPUtils.appendProperties to combine the two meta data objects
4) Write the appended metadata to the XMP file
5) Write the appended metadata back to the current thumbnail
I've used the following script snippit:
var xmp = new XMPMeta();
xmp.setProperty(XMPConst.NS_EXIF,'GPSLongitude',longitude);
xmp.setProperty(XMPConst.NS_EXIF,'GPSLatitude',latitude);
xmp.setProperty(XMPConst.NS_EXIF,'GPSAltitude',altitude);
xmp.setProperty(XMPConst.NS_EXIF,'GPSMapDatum','WGS-84');
var md = thumb.synchronousMetadata;
var xmp2 = new XMPMeta(md.serialize());
XMPUtils.appendProperties(xmp,xmp2,XMPConst.APPEND_ALL_PROPERTIES | XMPConst.APPEND_REPLACE_OLD_VALUES | XMPConst.APPEND_DELETE_EMPTY_VALUES);
var xmpFile2 = new XMPFile(thumb.spec.fsName,XMPConst.FILE_UNKNOWN, XMPConst.OPEN_FOR_UPDATE);
if (xmpFile2.canPutXMP(xmp2))
xmpFile2.putXMP(xmp2);
xmpFile2.closeFile();
var xml = xmp2.serialize(XMPConst.SERIALIZE_OMIT_PACKET_WRAPPER | XMPConst.SERIALIZE_USE_COMPACT_FORMAT);
thumb.metadata = new Metadata(xml);
I have not tested this with JPG and TIFF files. I have tested a bit with existing and non existing XMP files.
Any suggestions are very welcome!

  • CRM sales order is not saved in CRM but in ECC

    Hi,
    I am new CRM area and will not some hints on where to check.
    When the the Sales orders are successfully created in CRM, they are replicated to R/3 but the sales orders are not saved in CRMD_ORDERADM_H table of the CRM system.
    Also, I dont know see any details of the sales order in the interaction record document flow.
    Can you please help me with any hints on where to check to fix this issue..

    Hi Sangameshwar,
    In CRM you can have two scenarios for ERP Sales Order.
    1. ERP Sales offer and Sales order, using the CRM User Interface to create directly the ERP Sales Documents with LORD interface. The document is only saved in ERP. I believe this the scenario you are using.
    2. CRM Sales offer and Sales order, the document is saved both CRM and ERP. The documents are replicated via Middleware.
    In both scenarios the interaction record should add the document in the doc. flow, it's probably a missing customizing in the interaction record.
    Hope this information help you.

  • Metadata not saving in Illustrator CS6

    I have come across multiple users with this same problem and have found no solution.  I am creating files in illustrator and saving them as jpegs using 'save for web'. However, none of the user generated metadata is saved with the file.  For example, Headline, Description, Keywords and Creator.  Any suggestions???????

    The files I am testing with are .jpg's.  They ultimately need to be opened with Illustrator which is why I posted.  I only tested with Photoshop to see what would happen and was pretty surprised to see the data there.  Like I said, it works in CS5 Illustrator, CS6 Photoshop, but the data just doesn't show up in the CS6 Illustrator (in the advanced nor the raw tab), and when I view the .jpg with textedit the data is difinitely there.  Pretty weird.

  • LR 5.3 bug: local adjustments not saved in XMP

    Hi,
    I'm seeing the following bad bug on my mac, with LR5.3
    If I save metadata to disk and immediately reload, I lose some adjustments, like brushes, tone curves, etc.
    I compared some old .xmp and the .xmp saved by LR5.3 and indeed there are some sections missing.
    Can anyone confirm? This looks like a P0 bug to me. What's the procedure for notifying Adobe?

    did you wait for LR to save all the 10000 XMPs?
    yes, I waited... 24 hours. but again, time is not the issue. This happens even for a single picture, albeit it does not happen for any picture.
    I open a picture, save metadata, switch to finder/terminal, look at the .xmp manually and I see all the legitimate differences (e.g. softwareAgent changed from LR4.1 to LR5.3), but also a lot of sections are missing.
    If I switch back to LR and re-read metadata from the file, I lose all the local edits, etc.
    are you sure the Write rights of the restored files are OK?
    Have you tried the same operation on the local disk?
    yes and yes.
    I think I found the pattern:
    this happens for pictures that have been upgraded from PV2010 to PV2012 in LR4.
    If I edit one of these pics in LR, it shows "Process version 2012", and in history I see "Update to current process (2012)".
    However, the .xmp file on the disk says: "crs:processVersion = 5.7" (which is 2010, IIRC).
    If I select "Process Version 2010" and then again "Process Version 2012", and I re-save the xmp, then it looks good.
    Do you have any clue of what's going on?

  • Photoshop not saving current document but temp file OK...

    Hi, this is slightly difficult to explain but happened twice yesterday. We have not experienced it before and have not updated out CS6 apps recently:
    Situation – Photoshop 13.1.1 x64. Mac Pro 3.33 6-core running OSX 10.6.8, 48Gb RAM. Working on a large-ish .PSD file (650 Mb) and saving to a network drive (a Drobo connected to a server) which is our usual routine and has been for years.
    Problem – When I save the document and close it, the saved file (in the correct target location) shows the correct modified time and date stamp but if you open that file up again a lot of work is missing. In this instance, about the last half hours work (since the previous time I saved it). However, if you then go to File > Open Recent and choose the file name, the document opens with all the missing up-to-date work in it.
    Clearly, File > Open Recent is opening a temporary document somewhere and not the saved file in the target location.
    My concern is why isn't the saved file (with correct modified time and date) up-to-date? Suddenly we are having to double check every PS file we work on and save and that is not practical.
    Any help greatly received.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Clearly, File > Open Recent is opening a temporary document somewhere and not the saved file in the target location.
    ctrl-clicking the name (in non-tabbed view at least) should indicate the actual path of the file.
    and saving to a network drive
    Well, as far as I know Adobe washes its hands of any such set-up and if there are issues with Photoshop and a server you are on your own.

  • SCXI 1520 quarter bridge setup will not output excitation voltage, but full bridge will

    My SCXI system will not output an excitation voltage to the quarter bridge(verified with voltmeter). It works for a full bridge setup. When connected to a 'quarter bridge I' configuration, I can use MAX to null and shunt calibrate. The quarter bridge circuit appears to be balanced after the calibration, but the calibration results post a software gain factor close to zero, as well as a close to zero excitation voltage (eventhough I have the voltage configured for 5 volts). I have the SCXI 1520 module, the virtual channels, and the wiring properly configured (several years experience with this device). I'm using an old E series DAQ card AI-16XE-50, with the 50 pin cable that plugs in the back of the SCXI chassis. I noticed I had two bent pins with the cable connector module that plugs into the SCXI backplane.  I was able to straighten them, so the cable connects properly, but I suspect the bent pin incident caused electrical circuit damage. Any suggestions on trouble shooting? None of the three 1520 modules I have will output an excitation voltage for a quarter bridge.

    Sorry that I don't have an answer for you tyea, but I'm interested in your thread because I have a similar issue with a 1520. My excitation votltage, as measured with a DVM, is always 1V. I've tried 0V, 1V, 5V --- it's always 1V, on Full or Quarter bridge. I'm using a similar DAQ to yours - a PCI 16XE-10 (and a PCI-6030E on antother system).
    I don't have a lot of experience with these modules. This could be a wiring or programmatic thing I'm doing wrong.

  • "Media kind" metadata not saved in file

    This has been noted in other threads, but I am wondering whether it is simply an iTunes bug, or whether there really isn't an ID3 tag associated with Media Kind.
    Are there any third-party tools that can modify this tag (and that iTunes will read on importing)?
    Bill

    Media Kind is an internal iTunes property and not part of the ID3 specification. Apple could have chosen to use a custom field, as they do with the non-standard Part of a compilation flag, but haven't. Mostly the correct value is inferred from file type or determined when content is added to the library. For example, Digital Booklets downloaded from the store are treated as Music, PDFs added by the user are treated as Books. You might be able to make smart playlists that catch any incorrect assignments so you can repair with a few bulk Get Infos. At present Media Kind isn't accessible to third party scripting, and may never be.

  • Metadata not showing in Aperture, but exists in original file

    Lots of photos in my Aperture library seem to not be showing their metadata. I say "not showing" because the metadata is indeed present in the actual files when I open them in Preview. Preview lists full EXIF, GPS, camera make and model - everything. And they appear to be linked in the library correctly, because I open them by right-clicking to Show in Finder.
    These are all Referenced Masters (as is everything in my library). They tend to be photos taken on an iPhone 5, and are in my Photo Stream. That's about the only pattern I can discern. This only is happening with about 1000 of my 30,000 photos.
    I have tried:
    -Reopening Aperture
    -Reconnecting masters (although they always show as Online)
    -Repairing library permissions
    Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Oh looky here... this Metadata -> Update from Originals menu is exactly what I need! Seems to be working like a charm.
    Figures, as soon as I finally post the question, I figure it out!

  • Bridge cache managment & export to folders?

    What is the function and advantage of "auto exporting cache to folders" in Bridge?
    Round 2 testing, I changed the CS6 Bridge cache location to be the same location I was using for CS5, on a secondary drive.
    Small mistake, because CS6 proceeded to delete the entire existing cache and start building a new one. However, Bridge CS5 seems to coexist OK sharing the same cache with CS6. They are both re-building the cache as I visit individual folders. (30,000 files in 800 folders gonna take a while).
    Long ago under CS3 I adopted the strategy of setting Bridge to "Auto export cache to folders." That worked well, because if you purged the master cache, Bridge would very quickly rebuild it from the folder cache files each time you re-visited a folder. The thumbs would come up very quickly if a folder cache existed, much slower if no folder cache existed.
    Under CS5, and now CS6, that is no longer true. If you visit a folder after the cache has been purged, a slow process to generate thumbnails occurs. It appears that the individual folder cache is not being used for anything. The time to re-build the cache is about the same, regardless of whether folder cache files exist or not.
    Purging or deleting the Bridge cache was often necessary under CS3 because the cache often became corrupted. CS5 was more stable, but still not immune from cache corruption. Maybe CS6 will be even more stable, but I'm betting cache purges will still be sometimes necessary. Is there any way to make the rebuild faster? Or more generally, what's the best strategy for Bridge cache management?
    (And no, I don't have "keep 100% previews in cache" selected.)

  • Can I put the Bridge Cache on the external hard drive for images being located there?

    Hi,
    I'm on a MacBook Pro retina.
    While I have a 500 Gb hard drive, I notice that the Bridge CS 6 cache is getting larger quickly (looking forward to 1 Terabyte SSDs).
    I have most of my images on external hard drives, but Bridge CS6's cache seems to be on my computer.
    Can I store the Bridge cache locally?
    So, if I have 1000 images on hard drive A, the cache for them would be on hard drive A.
    And for 100 TIFFS on hard drive B, the cache would be on hard drive B.
    And for the 100 most recent TIFFs I keep on my computer's hard drive, the Bridge cache would be on my computer.
    It this what checking the box next to "Automatically Export Caches To Folders When Possible" does or am I misunderstanding this - and this option only puts  COPY of the cache files on the external hard drive, but the Bridge cache file on my computer still contains all the images, not matter on which hard drive they'd be?

    That is correct as stated above.  In efffect you will now have 2 cache the central cache and the folder cache.  Purge only affects the central cache.  To purge the folder cache you have to click Tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder.
    You can locate your central cache anywhere you want in edit/preferences/cache.  You will want to purge the cache before doing this and then change location.  THe entire cache will have to be rebuilt.

  • Bridge not saving toning/applying post production - like 20K images to tone!!

    Hi - Am desperate - have 10 weddings to do post production on and my bridge is acting up.
    I am having a bridge isssue - when I apply the toning/cropping/color correction to images and press done it is not saving the work. In addition when I do the work in bridge and then choose save as it just save them as untoned JPGSs. It does not apply the raw conversion or xmp data.
    In addition it is only happening in half the images in the folders not all of them. And it's not camera specific it's random.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Bridge is only a file browser without editing capacities (except the export panel but that has been discontinued in Bridge CC) and reflects the content of your folders. If you make changes in ACR using either selecting via PS  or via Bridge any changes should be visible wether you have hit done or save in ACR.
    If you have other results, especially random difference it looks like a cache problem to me. So point the Content panel to a problem folder and use menu tools / cache / purge cache for folder and check if this solves your problem.

  • Bridge not saving settings.

    I am using Bridge with CS4 and have the following minor but irritating problem.
    Bridge does not save the current settings such as last folder used or screen view settings when the computer system is shut down.
    These setting are saved during periods of opening and closing bridge while the computer remains powered up but are not saved (presumably to the registry) when the computer is powered down.
    I am using Windows XP / service pack 3
    I presume that there is an entry in the system registry that needs editing. I would appreciate if anyone with knowledge of a solution for this problem would assist me.
    TIA
    Roy Berger

    Thank you for the information, it is most helpful.
    Of course you are correct about me having bridge set to "autoload on
    startup". It will look into closing Bridge before shutting down.
    Appreciate the prompt reply,

    Lightroom is not saving metadata. I have done several things to save and I still get the tag that states is is not saved. I have also created 2 smart collections. One showing metadata has been changed and one showing metadata is not up to date. No matter what I do it is not showing in LR that it is saved. I spent 2 days with Seth Resnick trying to correct this and we re created my catalog. It was ok, until I imported new images and same problem. Now I have a new problem, when I bring image to PS it saves it but does not bring back to LR. Am I the only one out there who has this problem?

  • "Automatically Write Changes into XMP" Not Saving XMP Files

    I tried finding some other discussions on this but I couldn't seem to find anything...
    I recently checked the "Automatically Write Changes into XMP" setting in my "Catalog Settings". However, as I continue to add pictures to my library and make changes, I do *not* see the XMP files being written to the location of the pictures (Nikon NEF files located on my hard-drive). In fact, I can't find the XMP files anywhere. If I want to output the XMP files I have to do a Ctrl + S (Photo --> Save Metadata to File).
    I did notice that when I unchecked the setting and re-checked it, *some* of the XMP files showed up. However, in my import of 24 photos, only 14 had XMP files. I had to manually "Save Metadata to File" to get the XMP sidecar files to show.
    Am I doing something wrong? Is something not working right? I'm a bit confused. I assumed it would automatically export the sidecar files.
    How often should it be outputting XMP sidecards? If I import a new image should the XMP sidecar file be created? Or is it created the first time I change an original picture?
    I am using Adobe Lightroom 2.0 (Camera Raw 4.5) on a Mac OS X 10.5.5.
    Thanks,
    -Leftquark

    @Eric: hitting cntrl+s works but can be tedeous on large galleries. I've been doing this but it can be a pain.
    @Jeannine: different topic than this thread but to answer anyways... Lightroom automatically saves all changes into your catalogue. You never need to dave your changes (here's the kicker though) as long as you do not move the original file. If you
    move the file than lightroom won't know that it's the same image as the one you've edited. Once you are done editing your image you will need to "export" the image to a new file (you don't wan to overwrite the original). If you don't export than only lightroom will have your edits. Lightroom is "non-destructive" Which means that it doesn't touch your original photo. Lightroom keeps a text file containing the instructions on what you did to make the edited version. Since your changes are just text inatryxtions you have to "export" the image to get your final image in a version you can put online, print, etc. But to answer your original question, I think you prob moves the original image. If not, could you give us more info?

  • How to save metadatas in RAW files (and not in external .XMP sidecar file)

    Hello,
    I would like to save metadatas (for example keywords) inside the RAW files, and not in external .XMP sidecar file.
    How to do this in Lightroom ?

    PS: is XMP a file format (= .XMP files) or a metadata format that can be embedded either in a .XMP sidecar file or in the RAW itself ?

    XMP does not mean XMP FILES per se.
    XMP is a metadata format/standard. so it´s not horrible named but simply missunderstood.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Metadata_Platform
    XMP can be used in several file formats such as PDF, JPEG, JPEG 2000, JPEG XR, GIF, PNG, HTML, TIFF, Adobe Illustrator, PSD, MP3, MP4, Audio Video Interleave, WAV, RF64, Audio Interchange File Format, PostScript, Encapsulated PostScript, and proposed for DjVu. In a typical edited JPEG file, XMP information is typically included alongside Exif and IPTC Information Interchange Model data.
