MFP Anomaly

Ever since upgrading my 4404 and WiSM controllers, I keep getting a bunch of MFP errors like the one below. Is anyone else seeing the same thing ? I have MFP set to optional. It is occurring in multiple cities.
Thanks,
Randy
Message
MFP Anomaly Detected - 582 'Invalid MIC' violation(s) have originated from the AP with BSS '00:1c:0e:40:ba:6f'. This was detected by the radio with Slot ID '1' of the AP with MAC '00:1a:e2:10:e0:80' when observing 'Beacon, Disassociation, and Deauthentication' frames.

Hi Randy,
Just thought you might want to see this recent post where these same errors are ocurring after an upgrade to 4.2.61.0. Maybe you could piggyback on this TAC Case;

Hope this helps!

  • MFP Anomaly errors preventing upgrade to 7.6

This error is preventing us from going to 7.6 at my organization, as when we did, the NCS server was flooded with about 10K messages/day.  It was almost a full time job to delete the errors.  I followed all advice given to me by TAC, but the errors keep coming.  We rolled back to 7.4 becuase of this and other issues with 7.6.
How can you put out a version of code that floods your own NMS software?  This needs to be fixed asap; I have been waiting since November 2013 for a resolution.

  • MFP Anomaly Detected - WLC-4402-25-K9 - 5.0.148.0

From time to time I see messages like the one below in the Trap logs of a WLC-4402-25-K9 running 5.0.148.0:
MFP Anomaly Detected - 1 Invalid MIC event(s) found as violated by the radio <offending-MAC> and detected by the dot11 interface at slot 0 of AP <reporting-MAC> in 300 seconds when observing Deauthentication frames. Client's last source mac <client-MAC>
Is my WLC misconfigured or is this a (known) bug in 5.0.148.0?
    Trond.

There are some known issues in this area (mainly cosmetic) but it might also be an indication of an attack. You'd have to track this down with a packet capture to see if this is a false positive or not. From the MIB, the description of the event that triggers this message is:
"bcastDeauthenticationFrameRcvd - The Access Point detected a broadcast deauthentication frame. Broadcast
deauthentication frames are rejected by CCXv5 compliant
    devices."

  • MFP Anomaly help

    Hi Folks,
I just spotted this on our WCS6.0
MFP Anomaly Detected - 3,461 'Invalid MIC' violation(s) have originated from the AP with BSS '00:16:9d:44:65:d0'. This was detected by the radio with Slot ID '0' of the AP with MAC '00:19:aa:f5:5b:a0' when observing 'Probe Response, Beacon, and Deauthentication' frames.
3,461 seems like far too much - is this an attack? What should I do?
The message reads "originated from the AP", I've id'd the AP in WCS - are one of our APs acting up?
    What is going on?
    Thanks
    Scott

This is a problem on the controller, the WCS is just reporting what the controller says in this case.
There are quite a few bugs on this depending the code of WLC you have:
    4.2:
CSCsq87439 "MFP Anomaly Detected - 'Invalid MIC' violation(s)" messages seen on WLC
    5.0,5.1 and 5.2:
CSCsl59308 EW: Many 'MFP Anomaly Detected' alarms being reported

  • MFP Error reported in WCS

I've searched for the following errors but cant find anything on the MFP Invalid Sequence Number error
I have just enabled Management Frame Protection (MFP) under AP Authentication / Wireless Protection Ploicies.  Since then I have seen the follwoing MFP related errors on WCS.
MFP Anomaly Detected - 11 'Invalid Sequence Number' violation(s) have  originated from the AP with BSS '00:11:20:8e:91:50'.  This was detected  by the radio with Slot ID '0' of the AP with MAC '00:1a:e3:76:fd:50'  when observing 'Deauthentication' frames.
MFP Anomaly Detected - 20 'No MIC' violation(s) have originated from the  AP with BSS '00:26:cb:ac:7e:71'.  This was detected by the radio with  Slot ID '0' of the AP with MAC '00:26:cb:d1:b2:b0' when observing  'Deauthentication' frames.
The WLC's are running 6.0.196.0 and WCS is on 6.0.170.0.
My question is what do these errors refer toand how do I get rid of them??  What caveats are there for impleementing this globally or on a per WLAN basis?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Martin

    Hello,
I have exact the same error message 8 or 10 times per days, but we have MFP enabled on our system from long time and we have WLC Version 7.0.98.0 and WCS 7.0.164.0.
Did you get solutions for that?
    Thanks for your help

  • Wireless Mesh losing connectivity

My client has a Cisco 2504 controller running 7.5.102.0 code.  They have 2602E APs as Mesh Root AP and Mesh APs.  The distance between the antennas is approximately 30 feet.  The client is complaining of constant drops.  To date I have configured preferred partent on both mesh APs, and dropped min tx rates to lower multi-path issues in this manufacturing environment.

    Hi,
After performing the site survey, select low noise channel on the access-points, yes it seem due to the interference clients are dropping their connection.

  • CCMP not encrypted violation

After upgrading our three WLC 5508 to version 7.5.102.0, the security log in Prime is flooded with:
MFP Anomaly Detected - 10 'CCMP Not Encrypted' violation(s) have
originated from the Client with MAC '04:f7:e4:d2:e7:11' while it was
associated to the BSS '84:78:ac:de:b4:3e'. This was detected by the
radio with Slot ID '1' of the AP with MAC '84:78:ac:de:b4:30' when
    observing 'Association Response' frames.

The clients seems to connect without any problem though.
I have searched the support forum but haven't found anything about this. What is causing this messages ?

MFP traps are expected where clients go into power save mode and in busy environments (CSCsr20434 ) . Since this is as expected, logs are filled with unwanted traps with no way to disable.
An ENH (Enhancement) request is filed to correct this.
https://cdetsng.cisco.com/webui/#view=CSCtd34834CSCtd34834 MFP traps can not be disabled, filling logs on LWAPP/CAPWAP platforms
CSCtd34834 is an enhancement request and fix has not been implemented yet, so still valid on 7.5 code. You can request your TAC case to be marked on this bug and accounts team to push for bug resolution from BU if service impacting.

  • WCS issue

I have an issue with a WCS log. I am receiving a MFP anomaly detected-1 Invalid sequence number message in my WCS and a coupple of radio interfaces of APs are constantly going down and up.
Could someone give an explanation for this issue.
    Thanks

The controller may generate "MFP Anomaly Detected" alarms, which are reported as 'Invalid MIC' events. The alarms may originate from many different valid APs.
This condition does not affect the operation of the access points. These messages can be normal in the course of AP operation, etc. and Cisco typically recommends that MFP be disabled so that it does not cause client issues since this is especially seen with older clients(or clients not having the most up to date drivers).
A workaround would be to disable and then re-enable the access points identified in the messages, or you can try and disable MFP validation on some of the APs, or disable Infrastructure MFP globally.
This can be done from the WLC GUI at Security->Wireless Protection Policies>AP Authentication/MFP, or by using the WLC CLI command: config wps mfp infrastructure disable

  • Fax function of HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575

    Hi,
I am one of users of HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575.
I would like to know can I set the printer do not print my fax number and fax header on paper when I fax my document to others.
I had login as admin but I did not see where I can config it.
    Thank you.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 - Can't scan from Windows

We recently purchased and installed an HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 to be used as a networked all-in-one solution for a number of offices. I have been able to get it set up on our network and have installed the appropriate drivers on the requested Windows 7 x64 machines, and network printing works perfectly. However, it seems that despite the fancy scanning features available from the all-in-one itself (scan to email, scan to a network folder, etc.), I can't find any way to do an old-fashioned scan from Windows.
I have installed the full software solution available on the driver download page for the device, and while Windows lists the device as a "Multi Function Printer; Scanner" it does not recognize it as an actual scanner. The built-in Windows Fax and Scan simply reports that no scanners are installed. The software installation did not include the HP Solution Center (which I am used to seeing from my experience with various other HP all-in-one devices) or any equivalent for direct scanning. The driver download page for the device does not include any separate scanning drivers, so I can't be certain if they were included with the full installation or exist at all. Some of our staff also use Adobe Acrobat to scan, and even that fails to recognize the MFP as a scanner.
We'll eventually be setting up the device to scan directly to a network folder, but we need a fallback while IT takes their time getting it set up; I can't imagine that the simplest option is not available at all. I must be missing something here, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: To add, I also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Interestingly, it reports the device as a printer and only offers to "Fix Printing" without any sort of resolution for my scanning problem.

  • HP AiO remote doesn't recognize 3rd party toner as compatible in LaserJet M1217nfw MFP

    Hi,
I have a HP Envy 17 running Windows 8.1, a MacBook Air, an iPhone and a HP LaserJet M1217nfw MFP.  I recently replaced the toner with a 3rd party replacement cartridge and while the printer does give me a "supply memory error" I am still able to print just fine from the Mac and my phone.  I am unable however to print from my Envy.  The HP All-in-One Remote app in Windows 8 gives me an "incompatible cartridge" message and says there are no solutions availble.  Is there a work-around to this?
I am not very good at Windows 8....
    Thanks

    Hi Thaddeus,
Although the printer may resoponse to some commands, a supply memory error is an error state about the used cartridge.
Due the error message on the screen the HP AIO Remote recognize the cartridge as incompatible, that cannot be bypassed
with any settings, resolving the issue which cause the error message is the only key to resolve a such.
If the HP AiO Remote fails to print in such condition the only solution is to fully resolve the condition by following the steps listed in my previous post.

  • Can't install HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP at notebook HP Pavilion

I bought new notebook HP Pavilion 13-a051sr with Windows 8.1 (x64) onboard.
I'm trying to install HP Scan.
While installing all-in-one HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP using "CM1312series-win7-full-solution-AM-EMEA1-v5.1.exe"  can not get after the dialog window "Locating the printer". Printer could not be found even if I write down printer' IP-address. The latest printer firmware is already installed. Firewall is disabled, antivirus is closed.
I installed printer without any problems using it IP-address. What can I do in order to install scanner module?

  • LaserJet Pro 200 color mfp m276 Printing issues

I have had this printer for about a year now.  Now it has started printing solid black lines across the page I am printing, whether it be from my computer or a fax.  I can run the cleaning process from the printer and its fine for a few hours and then back to the solid black lines.  It gets so bad there is more ink on the paper than white when it does this.  Have tried everything I can think  of to cure this to no avail.  I am running hp cartridges and just plain white paper.  Any ideas as to how to fix this.  These lines are thick lines, just not _____ but are about 1 " wide each.
I really need help with this really soon or I will have to replace it with another brand.  I use this in my office and can't have important faxes coming across with all these lines so I can't read it.  I posted this Saturday and still waiting for someone to respond.

    Hi @RandallRaley ,
I understand that when printing, you are getting solid black lines across the paper and now on the back of the paper. You are using HP cartridges, plain paper and have ran the cleanings with the same result. I can help you today.
Try another type of 20lb -24lb plain paper to see if you have the same results.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next, click the link for firmware.
    Try printing again.
If the issue persists, follow the steps for aligning and cleaning the toners, printing a Print Quality page, inspecting the toner for damage, checking the paper and driver settings to see if this will resolve the issue.

How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Are you getting the black lines on the Hardware Self Tests also?
Where is the printer located? (on a desk, on a enclosed shelf in desk)
What kind of paper are you using?
What is the weight of the paper?
Was there any black on the toner?
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!
