MFP M476DW Scan to Email setup

Posting this as a general gripe and as a solution to others who may have similar issues: When configuring Deafult SMTP settings for scanning to email on the M476DW, be aware that the "SAVE AND TEST" button does not utilize any of the information in the "send from" fields.  It merely sends a test TO and FROM the email address you entered in the TO field beside the SAVE and TEST button. So while this test will confirm whether you can talk to your SMTP server, it does nothing to confirm whether your entries in the "Default From" fields are correct.    (in my case, we had the DEFAULT FROM field set to "jblow" instead of "[email protected]") So, our SAVE and TEST successfully sent test emails to whoever you put in the SAVE and TEST field, but when trying to do a scan to email at the actual physical device it would error out, giving absolutely no indication of what was wrong apart from "An error occured while sending the email.  Try sending again."I eventually discovered the issue by percolating through SMTP logs on my mail server. So, HP, if you are listening. Three things would be nice to have in future firmware on this device. 1) how about a log file somewhere that we can actually see what it's trying to do or a more specific error message on the panel? 2) what good is the SAVE and TEST feature if it doesn't test the parameters that are entered? 3) while I should have known that the Default From:  field needs the "@doman.com" at the end of it, wouldn't it make sense to not accept anything in non-email address format? Thanks for listening, and I hope this helps someone in the future.

Thanks for this posting. I just finished setting up our printer and for the life of me I couldn't figure out where to change the from name. When I tried to scan to email, it was showing it was from "unknown" which kept putting it in my spam folder. HP diffenitly needs to clarify what needs to be entered in the from field.  I'm a happy camper thanks again

  • Laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276nw Scan to Email issue

My laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276nw claims email is not set-up.  I have entered in the e-mail addresses to send the scans to, but it still claims it is not setup.  How do I setup this feature? I already have the "Send an Email" feature working where it sends the scan "from" my e-mail, but I want to use the Address Book feature and just send to a specific e-mail.

    HI @Username57 ,
I see by your post that you what to setup the scan to email on the printer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.
I have provided a document for How to Scan: From the Control Panel. Select Scan to an email.
If you are still having issues then go into the printer's Embedded Web Server by typing in the printer's IP address in your web browser and setup a Static IP and set the DNS address.
Click the Network tab, then click on IP4 config on the left side.
    Click on Network Address (IP)
    Select Manual.
Type in the printer's information and IP address.
Set the DNS Address Configuration as Manual. Under Network Information, it looks like you can change the settings there.
Set the preferred address as 8.8.8.8
Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4 and confirm the changes.
    Try setting it up again.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Happy New Years!

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus Scan to Email Setup, website not working.

When setting up scan to email.
The first question is: Is the HP software provided with the printer installed on the network-connected computer?
The answer should be yes, but we can't follow the steps of opening up the software on the computer and acessing scanner options like the printer tells us to.
Anyway, in the past I have set up a two users by selecting "No" to this question then it provies me with a website to enter in:
    http://192.168.5.158
This is the current address it is giving me. This has worked for me in the past and have had no issues setting it up this way. But now (after my employer changed my email address) my scan to email is no longer working and I am trying to set it up again with my new email.
Every time I type in the given address: http//192.168.5.158 I receive an error message.
[Fiddler] The socket connection to 192.168.5.158 failed.
    ErrorCode: 10060.
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 192.168.5.158:80
I had found a forum that had supposedly been a solution where they said to remove web services on the printer and re-set it up, this did not work at all. Still can't set up a scan to email. I just want to use the site given like I normally do, and set it up that way, I need help as SOON as possible please

    Hello rachelhuver,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Regarding the issue connecting to the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus's Embedded Web Server to change the Email used for Scan to Email, I would like to see if I can help.
If you touch the Wireless icon on the printer, is the I.P address the same as you noted in your post? If not, use that I.P in an attempt to access the needed page.
If you are still unable to load the page, try using a different web browser on the computer. For example, if using IE, try Firefox.
    If you are still unable, it would appear to me that the network is blocking this page from you. You can get around this by connecting temporarily to the printers Wireless Direct network. To connect to this;
    Touch Setup
    Network
    Wireless Direct
On with no security (I suggest)
Connect the computer to the printer's network, ie HP-Print-**-Officejet 8600 series.
Open a web browser (don't worry if you get a message about no Internet), enter this I.P: 192.168.223.1 and hit Enter.
You should now be able to access the Embedded Web Server of the printer, make your changes and apply them.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi imalkait,
I understand you would like to know about the scanning capabilities of the Laserjet M177nw. I can help you.
You can scan from the HP Software, email also.
There is no Scanning from the printer's display on this model. (Email or Computer)
You can network the printer and all the users can scan to their computers through scanning software.

  • Scan to email setup

When trying to setup my scan to email via Gmail I keep getting an error screen saying "incorrect credentials". I am using the correct password. Additionally, when i use a Yahoo email account it appears to work.

    Hi,
Gmail had recently changed several security options which may block the printer from connecting to their servers.
First open the following link and ensure you are logged on to the same account as you are setting for the printer.
    https://myaccount.google.com/
Within the Signing in section ensure that "2-Step Verification" is set as "Off", as well ensure that "Access for less secure apps" is set as "Allowed", otherwise the verification will fail.
Within the Recent activity section click on "Devices", if you see any blocked connection attempt (it will be highlighted in red) click on Yes and follow the steps by allowing access for less secure apps...
Once you are done run a test for the outgoing user profile and check if the problem been resolved.

  • LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw scan to email

I used to be able to email pdf scans but now it will no longer do that.  The message I get says to check email configuration.  How do I do that?

    Hi @Spargle,
I see that you are having issues scanning PDF documents to email, you are getting a message to  check the email configuration. I would like to help you.
Did you change your email client or passwords?
Who do you use for a email client? (Outlook, Yahoo)
Please try the steps in this document to see if it will help resolve this issue. Go to the section for How to scan to email. It provides information for setting up the email client.
Scan from Windows 7 With the Full Feature HP Software for HP LaserJet Multifunction Printers.
If you are still able to email JPG, then it may be the drivers or the software that is corrupted. I would suggest to uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • "Scan to Email " setup on hpoffice jet pro8600- can't find the wizzard for this enable

Printer needs to be enabled to scan to email.   New printer

No it is not new. I changed my email passwowd & cant figure out how to get to the right screen to correct it. I was able to print out instructions but they don't make sense. They say to double  click scanner actions & I can't even find that!

  • Error Message- Changed email passwords and now can't scan to email

Changed google email accounts and now wont scan to email, error message.
How o I change or confirm passwords. It has also lost air print.

    Hi @sellingsf ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you need to update teh settings for your scan to email feature and have an Airprint issue.
    I would like to help.
First you will need to gather your printers IP address.
Touch the wireless icon on the front panel of your 8600.
If it says IP no link, your printer has fallen off the network. This would be why Airprint is not working.
Once you have the printers IP address, open safari or chrome.
In the address bar type the printers IP address and press return.
This should take you to the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Once at the EWS you should see the scan to email setup.
Choose the option to edit the email and type in your new password.
    Save and test.
With the inability to Airprint, go into system preferences.
Then go into printers and scanners.
Select the 8600 plus and click the minus icon to remove it.
once the printer is gone, click the plus sign to add the printer again.
If you encounter any 'hiccups' or require further assistance, please let me know.

  • T3500 scan to email

I have T3500 mfp, when scanning to email, i get a error saying "Permission: Write privilege. I spoke with HP support they say that the email server has a file size limit and that the item we are scanning is too large. The email server we are using has a file size limit of 24mb and we are only scann a 8x11.5 fax cover sheet at low resolution which is no way that big of a file. Any other ideas what could be blocking the scan to email feature?

    Hi @lcpez
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I gather that you are getting an error when you try to add emails to the scan to email feature on your Photosmart 5520 printer.
My recommendation is to please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region. If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

  • Scan to Email Error Message "cannot connect to server. check server name and address"

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
I've been using this printer for several months.  Now am getting an ERROR message when I try to scan to email that it "cannot connect to server. check server name and address"

  • Cannot set up scan to email

Cannot get the setup wizard for scan to email to successfully complete this task.  Tells me that username or password is incorrect but they have been entered correctly.  Have reentered info severat  times.  What do I do?
    Thanks

    Hello @mkormendy ,
You can try to set it up without the driver.
    Obtain the printers IP address.
Go into Setup, then Network, then select View Network Settings.
    Note the IP address.
On your computer open your preferred web browser. (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, ect..)
In the URL or address bar type the printers IP address (192.168.x.xx or whatever it may be)
    Press the enter key.
You should be taken to the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS)
From here you should see the scan to email setup.
    Go through the setup.
This will use the printers firmware and bypass using the software.

  • HP 375 MFP scanning to email not possible any more

    HI, there:
I have owned the MFP for over 4 months. Just after it was installed, I set up the scanning to email function, and it has been working well so far- until now. Actually nothing was changed- but suddenly the port 25, or other ports do not allow me to scan from hotmail accounts. I am not sure if it is hotmail, or not, since my outlook emails are still coming. Even after I tried with other ports- still setup of scanning to email with HP program could not go thru. Can anybody help? I really don't want to bring a USB stick every time using the function.
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi @SB-MRE
I would like to help you setup your scan to email. During the profile setup process, you might be asked for SMTP server name, SMTP port number, or authentication information. You can contact the email/Internet service provider or system administrator for the information. SMTP server names and port names are typically easy to find by doing an Internet search. For example, use terms like “gmail smtp server name” or “yahoo smtp server name" to search.
Please use the following document to help you through the setup; How to Scan: From the Printer Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Network Fol...
Upon opening the document above, click on Scanning to email (N911g and N911n models that use network connections only), then you will see Mac under Step three: Set up the Scan to Email profile.

  • HP LaserJet MFP M476dw paper size mismatch when copying or scanning from ADF

We have HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw that has an issue when copying or scanning from the ADF.
Put a single A4 sheet in the ADF and choose copy, with all settings correct & no resizing, and the output copy is moved down the page (increased top marging by a couple of inches).
My initial thoughts were a paper size issue (e.g. treating A4 as Letter or vice versa) but all settings look correct.  I have even done a reset and started over and the problem remains.
If I take the original and place it on the flatbed and copy from there with all the same settings then it works fine.
There is a similar issue when scanning from the ADF.  Again, scanning from the flatbed works fine.
I've tried all I can think of.  Does anyone have any further suggestions?  Could it be a fault in the ADF?

  • Laserjet 500 MFP Scan to email stopped working

    Hi,
We have three LJ500 M575's, which we have been using for around 10 months with no issues.
All three devices use the same Exchange User.
This week we started to get SMTP Protocol Errors when sending scan to email, I have checked the Log and the error is 44.10.01 SMTP Protocol Error.
I ran through the setup wizard and left the details the same, at the end I sent a test email, and this is fine, I have sent these internal and external to the company, and each time the test email is delivered.
When I then go back to scan I get the same 44.10.01 error. I have changed the username and ran the same test, with the same results, I am able to send the setup test email, but when I go to scan I get the same 44.10.01 This is the same across all three devices.
I have flashed one of the devices with Firmware 2304061_439478, but this has had no effect.
I cannot see any errors on the Exchange side.
    Any ideas anyone?
