Migration issues going from 2.0 to 3.1

Hi,
I'm investigating the migration of an old 2.0 datamodel (build 584) to a new 3.1 version (build 700) and I have some questions and issues:
Can I go directly from 2.0 to 3.1?
When trying I get an error message and the log-file from datamodeler contains errors.
Using version 3.0 (build 665) as an intermediate step doesn't give the error-message....
After opening the 2.0 model in 3.0 and using "Save as..." I observe some strange things:
- The properties "Name on Source" and "Name on Target" of each Logical relation are now emtpy. They were filled in the 2.0 model.
As a consequence all my labels in the Logical diagram are now blank.
I found a posting "Sql Developer Data Modeler 3.0 EA1: Relationship source and target names" for 3.0EA1 that this was a bug.
Is it still a bug in 3.0 build 665?
- In the relational diagram all columns with a datatype that defined by a domain show UNKNOWN.
Looking at the properties of such a column I see that the domain is migrated properly.
It is only not shown in the diagram....
Someone a clue?
Thanks in advance,
Enrico

Well, it gets even more serious.
When generating DDL I get a generation error because all the datatypes of the columns with a domain are generated as UNKNOWN....
After some searching I see the following:
Defined is domain NUMBER_10_F in both version of Datamodeler
Version 2.0
Relational model > Table properties > Columns > Datatype : Domain + Type : NUMBER_10_F
Relational model > Column properties > General > Datatype : NUMBER(10) {NUMBER_10_F}
Physical model > Column properties > General > Datatype : NUMBER(10)
Version 3.0
Relational model > Table properties > Columns > Datatype : Domain + Type : NUMBER_10_F
Relational model > Column properties > General > Datatype : UNKNOWN {NUMBER_10_F}
Physical model > Column properties > General > Datatype : UNKNOWN
Somehow the columns do not inherite the right datatype from the domain.
Probably I did something wrong with the defaultdomains.xml file but I do not know what.
I copied it from the old datamodeler (2.0) directory datamodeler\domains to the new datamodeler (3.0) directory datamodeler\datamodeler\types
Suggestions?
Enrico

Hi to All, My wife still has ios 6 on her ipad (she likes the look). I will do the 7.1 upgrade when it is released. Should there be any issues going from 6 directly to 7.1? Thanks!

There shouldn't be. I went from iOS5.whatever to iOS6.1 with no issues.
Just make sure to back everything up before you do it, just in case all doesn't go as planned.
I always do mine the old fashioned way, download the full OS via iTunes so if you've already got it linked to a computer and been using iTunes to do updates/syncing that's how I'd suggest you do it.

  • Trouble with migration assistant going from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro running 10.5.8 and just got a new macbook running 10.6.1. I'm trying to run the migration assistant. It gets to the point where it says 'preparing information' on each computer and then it seems to just hang. I've let it go for 45 minutes and nothing happens past that.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Susan

I'm not sure what you are doing so try this:
On the old computer do the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
With both computers turned off connect a Firewire cable between them. Boot the old computer into Target Disk Mode. After the TDM screen appears boot the new computer normally. After the new computer has started you should find a drive icon for your old computer on the new computer's Desktop.
Open Migration Assistant in the Utilities folder. Select the migration option (should be already selected) to migrate from another computer or hard drive. Then follow the onscreen instructions. For additional help select Migration Assistant Help from the Help menu.

  • Scaling issue going from computer to flat screen tv.

I have a client that has shot thousands of pictures from his world travels over the years some in the raw format some in jpeg. He created a slide show in Photoshop Elements of the pictures and when he shows them through his computer onto his large Toshiba HD flat screen some of them come out jagged (doesn't matter if they are jpeg or raw). I am assuming it is a scaling issue causing this. Question can some one please give me the right instructions on how to go about fixing this so all of his pictures come out crystal clear on his flat screen? Thanks.

What is the current pixel dimension of the images that are causing the issue?

  • Help please... Audio sync issues going from iMovie to iDVD (iLife '09 packa

I've tried technical support, I've tried looking online but nothing seems to have helped, so here's the problem:
I have a video/movie, that is around 58 minutes long, I share it to iDVD and the other media formats from iMovie. The vid has music, transitions, titles, credits, etc... It plays fine in iMovie while I am editing it. The problem comes when I try to export it to another media format and to iDVD.
There's a section that has major audio sync issues that I have no idea how to even begin to fix. There is audio and music from the 55 minute mark that plays over the 27 minute mark for a good 3 minutes of video and audio.
I've tried some of the suggestions I've come across but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have anything that they can offer this very frustrated guy? Please and thank you in advance.

I don't shoot 12 bit audio (ever) so I'm not an expert on fixing it or converting it back to 16 bit audio. I can only report what others on this forum claim to have worked (in some cases with marginal success).
The ones that comes to mind are:
    1. video and audio extraction in an attempt to re sync.
    2. exporting back to the camera from iMovie and then re-importing as 16 bit.

  • Black and White conversion issues going from LR to PS

When I take a black and white image directly from Lightroom to Photoshop using "Edit in Photoshop", the black and white conversion doesn't stay true. My image, once opened in PS, is mostly black and white, but has green and magenta casts running throughout. Anyone know how to resolve this without just gray scaling the image again once in PS?
Screen grab from LR on the left, and PS on the right.
    Thanks.

    Geoff the kiwi wrote:
How does the OP's green/magenta colouring equate to your stated red/cyan?
Well, it looks cyan to me. Here it is with saturation boost - assuming the OP made the screenshot correctly, assigning the display profile:
In any case, the Photoshop bug is well known and well documented, showing up as cyan shadow banding in ProPhoto files, when GPU is set to "Normal" or "Advanced" mode.
I'm not saying the display profile isn't involved, it most certainly is. The whole issue is the conversion into the display profile. And it also shows to varying degree with different display profiles - sometimes just subtle cyan bands, easily missed until you look for it, other times more pronounced and with secondary red banding (like here).
It also happens with sRGB as display profile. So the bug is real, no question about that.
What's different here is that there's cyan also in the highlights. But that could be the screenshot - or it could be "just" a bad display profile. I'm not ruling that out, just pointing out that there is a more likely explanation in this case.

  • Odd pagination issue going from RH8 to RH9

I just recently upgraded from TCS2 to 3. I'm linking a structured FM book to a RH project. The FM to RH mappings are set to paginate at the ChapterTitle and Heading1 (top level section elements) levels. Everything worked fine in RH8, but in RH9 any time I have a ChapterTitle not followed by a paragraph, RH9 isn't correctly creating a separate topic for the ChapterTitle and instead creating a topic using the chaptertitle with the first Heading1 topic lumped in. This creates a problem since I'm using a htt for the chapter level topics to generate a mini-TOC to the sections in each chapter. If I add a paragraph after the ChapterTitle (before the first Heading1) everything works fine and I get a separate topic for the ChapterTitle and the first Heading1. All other Heading1 styles are correctly being generated as a separate topic.
To be clear, I'm using the paginate setting in the paragraph styles mapping and then using <$paratext_no_num> topic name pattern. Did something change between RH8 and 9? Do I need to just bite the bullet and add topic name markers?

There has been a change in the pagination behavior in TCS 3. TCS 3 does not allow creating of empty topics with just a heading text. If pagination is set on two heading styles with one following the other at a particular location, the earlier one is simply ignored at that particular location. In order to achieve pagination at such a location one needs to pick either of the two options as you have already mentioned in your post.
Add an extra paragraph in between with some relevant content.
Or use Topic Name Marker for pagination.

  • Has anyone had issues going from 1 Apple ID to 2 since the iCloud update?

My wife and I each have our own iPhones and iPads and I just got her a MacBook Pro, but we've been sharing 1 Apple ID to share apps.  Now with iCloud, all our information is being combined, like contacts and iCal.  Has anyone had this situation and resolved it?  If so, can you give me any good tips?

So yes, I did figure it out...with the help of the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store.  The answer was pretty simple and very easy.  My wife and I each have our own iCloud accounts now, which our iPhones / iPads / MacBooks each sync with, but we still share a single iTunes account.  This causes no conflicts whatsoever in terms of our personal information or ability to share apps / music purchased on iTunes.  There are a couple of things to remember, though:
    - We each sync to our own computers to keep it clean.  Any music / apps we want to share we move manually or just initiate separate downloads.
    - The iTunes account on both computers is the same, but our Apple ID's for iCloud are unique.
    - Before the setup, the user that is getting the new iCloud account needs to backup their personal info that they want to keep prior to syncing to the new computer / iCloud account, as it will not keep it.  This way, the info you want can be restored to the device.
    - I'm not sure if this solution will still work if you're syncing multiple devices to the same computer, but I'd think it would be fine.
If you're not sure how exactly to do all this, by all means, set up an appointment for the Genius Bar.  They helped with everything with me, as I had no idea what to do, and they were awesome.
Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Migrating root CA from 2003 to 2012 R2

Hi all, I have a couple of questions about migrating a root certificate authority from Server 2003 to Server 2012 R2.  I've been reading the following link which is pretty comprehensive except for a couple of small things....
    technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126140(v=ws.10).aspx
    1) I would like to use a different server name, which seems fairly straight forward with some changes to the registry on the destination server.  I understand though, and can see, that all certificates currently issued by the CA have a CRL Distribution
    Point of ldap:// CN=<<name of CA>>,CN=<<name-of-current-server>>,DN=CDP,CN=Public Key.
It's the CN=<<name of current server>> part that bothers me.  Will revocation checks still work if the name of the CA server changes - ie. will it still work on account of the <<name of CA>> part remaining the same?
    2) I read something about issues going from a 32bit platform to a 64bit platform - is that applicable for in place upgrades only, or something I should be considering during the migration process?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The computer name, (hostname or NetBIOS name), does not have to match that of the original CA. However, the destination CA name must match that of the source CA. Further, the destination CA name must not be identical to the destination computer name.
Please go through the below article to do CA migration:

  • Can Migration Assistant copy from a Time Machine volume?

My PowerMac G5 died, and I'm replacing it with a MacBook Pro. Is it possible for the Migration Assistant to copy my files from my old system's Time Machine backup, since the machine itself doesn't work?
Also, any complications running Migration Assistant going from a Power Mac system to an Intel-based system? (Aside from the obvious: that any Power Mac native apps won't work...)
    Thanks!

yes, it's possible but it's actually not advisable to use Migration assistant when migrating from PPC to intel. definitely do not migrate the applications.
also, you might consider doing a completely manual migration. see kappy's post in this thread

  • U460 Brightness Control Issues (Only goes from Brightest to Darkest)

My Ideapad U460 is having problems with the brightness level. It will only switch from the Brightest to Darkest brightness level...meaning it's either too bright or too dim. I've tried switching my power options too but everytime i try to adjust the brightness either by just clicking the "Fn" button to adjust the brightness or changing it on the Control Panel's Brightnes Options by moving the cursor down the brighness scale (it STILL only goes from the lowest to highest in brightness).
Please help! This is quite frustrating since it goes from being WAY TOO BRIGHT to WAY TOO DARK. Also, I recently had my screen changed because it was malfunctioning. Everything is fine in terms of my memory and just the laptop itself but the brightness issues are becoming unbearable. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP

  • Print issues when going from develope to print

In LR5 when going from Develope to Print, I loose the picture and the print tab is greyed out.  Never had this problem before, did I do something wrong

Make sure the source remains the same - check the filmstrip.
The only suggestion is to place the batch for editing and printing into a collection or (temporary) quick collection and access the images from there in both modules.

  • MBP Retina Migration Issues

I'm simply posting this to share my issues with the community, on the chance that it might help or reassure someone, rather than look for help myself at this point. I used the Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant to move from a Macbook Pro with Snow to a new Macbook Pro with Retina display and, of course, Lion.
    1) Original migration was going to take 255 hours over WiFi. Did very little after running for a couple of hours. There is no way once started to change the type of connection, pause, nor restart the migration. You have to cancel on the source machine, not the new machine. Then do a second time.
    2) Bought an Ethernet to USB adapter for $40 and redid through Migration Assistant. Took 3 hours of an estimated 1 hr 55 minutes. Creates a duplicate ID, which worried me. OK to simply delete the original ID. This software needs some serious work on usability.
    3) MA said it didn't migrate incompatible software, including Snapz Pro X (movie and screen cap program). Yet, when I started up there was Snapz. Deleted. I'm on the beta program for the new release, completely rewritten in cocoa. Looks like it will be great.
    4) Dropbox could not find its own folder on the MBP-R. Relink didn't fix until I re-relinked, did manually, found and "merged" folders. Related to having to use a second name when I used MA because my "name" was already used in the first attempt.
    5) Google Drive did not work. Same problem. Had to delete the Google Drive folder then recreated. Works now.
    6) Apple Track Pad does not work with Lion, quite sadly since Lion supports more gestures. I've read there is a lenghty work around but can't confirm that.
    7) Wake from sleep had some issues at first but seems improved, perhaps by latest update of Lion. Still binks and flashes, minor issue.
    8) Had continued to use Apple's Backup to store select folders on external hard drives, even after MobileMe closed. Worked great on old MBP. No longer works. Boots as trial version, then asks me to pay up for MobileMe to use, which I would if I could
    9) Icons/ desktop does not properly restore when it switches between internal display and external, Apple Thunderbolt Display, i.e. icons moved from right edge to middle of screen.
    10) Adobe CS6. Migrated CS5, then upgraded. All fine (so far) except Acrobat Pro left old icon on Dock, which instead of failing to open the old program, or opening the new one, does some peculiar copy protection routine. Had a Doh! moment before I simply deleted and replaced the icon.
    11) Using Timemachine with external RAID 5 (Pegasus R4) over Thunderbolt. Great. Tremendous speed improvement.
    12) Bluetooth device set up had lots and lots of problems. Took forever to find Mobile Mouse, Keyboard, and extrarodinarily long to find Trackpad (which, again, doesn't work when found). Did find my other MBP half way across the house -- immediately. Had to try repeatedly. Once I got them set up, though, they work -- except for the Trackpad.
    13) Lastinly, you'll notice this form itself doesn't even include Lion / 10.8 yet. Same problem happens in many places on Apple.com Sigh.
Good luck and enjoy the great new computer!

    14) iMovie problems. Apparently, prefs cause long movies to fail to save. There is an update, but the process doesn't work. Asks to a different Apple ID even when not needed.
By the way, here is the WiFi transfer time:

    Exchange 2013 Migration issues
I have three issues and decided to list them here. Please pick and choose to assist. Thanks in advance.
    Environment:
    Mixed 2007 SP3 R12 and 2013 CU3. 2007 Environment was webmail.domain.com. I installed new Exchange 2013 (1 CAS, 1 Mailbox) according to:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff805032(v=exchg.150).aspx. Exchange 2007 is now legacy.domain.com and Exchange 2013 CAS is webmail.domain.com.
Machine 1: Windows 8.1, not domain joined, using Outlook Anywhere external. Outlook 2013
Machine 2: Windows 7, domain joined, using Outlook Anywhere internal. Outlook 2010 SP2
I have migrated 1 user so far to Exchange 2013. This user was a Domain Admin. I have removed that membership. I checked the box to inherit permissions of the security of the object and reset the AdminCount attribute in ADSIedit to 0 and verified this replicated
to all domain controllers. ( I originally thought this to be the issue with it prompting for the password. )

    ISSUE 1
Issue: On Machine 1 (reference above) Windows Security prompt that says "Connecting to
[email protected]". Almost always prompts when Outlook is first opened. Afterwards (if it goes away) seemingly random on when it asks for it. I put in the credentials (absolutely correct) and it fails and prompts again.
I always check the box for it to save the password. To get rid of it, I click the Cancel button at which Outlook reports "NEED PASSWORD", but still acts fine sending and receiving emails. Eventually the "NEED PASSWORD" sometimes changes
to say "CONNECTED", but it works regardless.
No issues on Machine 2 so I don't know where the problem might be as there are a lot of variables in play here.
    ISSUE 2
Migrated user is unable to open Public folders from Exchange 2007.
Cannot expan the folder. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance. (/o=...).
This error occurs on Machine 1, Machine 2 and from OWA, same error each time.
    ISSUE 3
Apps. Installed by default are 4 apps (Bing Maps, Suggested Meetings, Unsubscribe, Action Items). I have made sure the apps are enabled in OWA and they show up in mail items on both Machine 1 (Outlook 2013) and OWA. They do not show up in Machine 2 (Outlook
    2010). I'm assuming that isn't supported.
In OWA, when I go to the installed apps listing it shows all of the apps but has a broken link on the image describing the app.
When I click the app in either Outlook 2013 or in OWA, I get "APP ERROR, Sorry we can't load the app. Please make sure you have network and/or internet connectivity. Click "Retry" once you're back online.
Current workaround is just disabling them through OWA.

    Hello,
In order to avoid confusion, we troubleshoot a issue per thread usually.
For your first isue, I agree with Ed's suggestion to check if your certificate name is correct.
Besides, I recommend you change ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod from Basic authentication to Negotiate authentication to check the result.
For the second issue and third issue, please create a new post.
