MKMapRectContainsPoint is failing on IOS 6

Hello,
I am testing an application made for IOS 5 on IOS 6. I am using Mapkit and MKMapRectContainsPoint, it works on IOS 5 fine but it fails on IOS 6 for the same locations, so i made some tests and realize that the CGRect returned by visibleMapRect on IOS 6 it's different from the one on IOS 5 , I also print the values of the array that returns [self.map annotationsInMapRect:self.map.visibleMapRect] and for IOS 5 it returns correctly the annotatiosn that i put on the map, but in IOS 6 returns an empty array.
Someone has the same problem? i would appreciate any help,
please excuse my english
thank you

Sorry,
i would like to delete this question it was my mistake, i put addAnnotations in the function viewDidLoad instead of viewDidAppear, that works on IOS 5 but not in IOS 6 so i didn't realize that mistake before.
how can i delete a question in the forum?
thank you very much

• Calendar Server 7u2 fails with iOS 5

Hello everybody.
Connecting to Oracle Calendar Server for CalDAV with an iPhone 4, updated to iOS 5, fails when loading the calendar. The iPhone can neither see the calendar, nor load tasks. The connection works fine with Thunderbird 7.0/Lightning.
The iPhone also complains that it can't validate the (definitely and double-checked) username and password, regardless of whether we use HTTP or HTTPS. Is there a configuration option or patch we can install?
Thanks for the help,
John

although the symptoms are usually different (but I never tried the upgrade account scenario myself).Thank you, this at least is part of the solution. I can now add the calendar account in the iPhone's settings app as it stopped complaining that it can't confirm the account. By the way, this is a fresh installation of version 7u2 and I added the account to the iPhone after importing the calendar from an .ics backup... if that helps :-).
However, even when setting the iPhone to sync "all events" instead of "the last month", only meeting invitations how up inside the CalDAV calendar in the Calendar app. To be clear: events that have been created by the same calendar account do not show up (neither past calendar entries, nor future entries).
Is there something else I can try?

• VPN fails for iOS and Android devices

L2TP and PPTP VPN set up on OS X Server 3.0 fails when connection is made from iOS or Android device. When connecting from a MacBook Air running Maverick it all works fine. Exact same client settings are done on iOS and OS X.
When connecting from OS X, Server VPN log shows all the details. But when trying to connect from iOS and even from my Android, there is not a single entry in the Server logs that anything even reaches the server.
I checked using TCPMon and using PPTP and was clearly showing that packages were forwarded to the server. But still nothing showed in the log.

It's a known bug and will be fixed with 10.9.1 according to the Apple support.

• Urgent Help: RemoteObject failed in iOS

I am current running AIR 3.1 with Flash Builder 4.6, creating an application that would make remoting calls to BlazeDS. For some reason, the emulator and the browser version of the application works, but as soon as it is deployed to iPad, the remoting stops working, and returns an error "Send Failed".
I wonder if anyone who may have experienced something similar, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have experienced the same problem with Adobe's "Flex Test Drive for Mobile" tutorial. I can connect to a remote database using the iOS desktop simulator, but when the app is loaded on my iPhone/iPad, there is no connection. I have been trying for days to find an answer. If you know the solution, please post. Is there anyone from Adobe listening?

• UC560 backup to CCA failing with IOS error

Prior to doing a full upgrade of my UC560, I attempted to use CCA to do a backup of my configuration, voicemail, etc. The process seems to get fairly far (backing up CUE), and then CCA informs me that the backup failed.

I'm reluctant to go ahead with the rest of the upgrade without having a reliable backup.
-Jim

As you said -- upgrading would be a bad idea.
The first thing the update process in CCA does is create a backup -- if this fails, either the upgrade will hard fail then, or if it continues, your config/data will not be imported sucessfully after the upgrade.
There are some references to that error on google -- though for a different platform.
The fix mentioned is a reboot of the router... that would probably be a good place for you to start.

• Group Messaging failing since iOS 8.0.2

I have a couple of apps installed via apple store for sending group sms. e.g Group, Easy Group etc. These app are free ordinarily but to take advantage of some other features, I upgraded to the premium version.
However, since I upgraded to iOS 8.0.2, these apps and a couple of others have been failing to send out group messages. It's a shame that Apple has not provided these feature in the default Message app. I send out sms daily to groups (some having over 300 contacts). Can anyone help?

• First call fails on iOS 4.1

I installed iOS 4.1 onto my iPhone 4 last week and didn't notice this problem over the weekend, but today several times when someone called me, they were able to hear me but I wasn't able to hear them. They would hang up and call back and then everything was fine.
This happened with three or four different callers, but not every caller.
My wife also upgraded her iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 and she just had the same problem when I called her ... she couldn't hear me, but I hung up and called back and then she could hear me.
Has anyone else seen this since upgrading?

Iskor12,
I have notice one anomaly. Sometimes when I have WiFi on and use the "App Store" application it will go out and download new information BUT the progress pin wheel never stops spinning. It is almost as if the application/network or something gets hung up continuously trying to finish some down load and never does.
I have been making sure to go to the task manager and shut down the "App Store" program. At the moment I don't know what the effect of this continuously running network link has on the battery but if it does it again today I will allow it to continue to run and see what if any effect it has on battery life.
Some of these problem are do subtle you really have t jump thru hoops to determine just what is or isn't going on.

• Close gesture fails after IOS 8

Hi everyone! I've just started using this forum. I have an IPAD Air and since i updated it to the ios 8, i start having some "gestures" preblems.
The thing is simply. When I try to close an app using the 4 fingers gesture, it just ignores it. So, i am forced to use the home button.
As a temporary fix, I drop down the notification center. After I drag it down, and then up, this issue seems to be corrected.
I usually experience this bug after a short sleep period.
Anyone else experienced the same??
Im using IOS: 8.0.2 (12A405)

Same here with a 1m cable. Another 1m cable is working just fine. One came with the iPhone when I bought it, the other I bought separately, but I couldn't tell now which one is which. I upgraded to 8.2 last night. Apple, what the f**k are you doing?

You should look at the following considerations before upgrading.
Considerations:
Is it a 3G unit? Battery drains faster because of the "in your fingertips" kind of user interface. With 3G connectivity on in iOS5.1 vs.4.2, the battery mileage will decrease faster than those of Wi-Fi units. There's something with the network modem firmware which may be the cause of accelerated battery drain as well
Are you having preference of things like "notification centre", lock screen changes, iCloud etc over battery performance? The difference in battery performance differs from user to user. It's the way iOS5 is built that lowers battery performance.
How often are you close to a wall socket OR how willing are you in using an iPad while its bound by a cord?
Possible performance degradation - read around the iPad forums. It may happen.
There's no turning back.
Are you still adamant on upgrading?
The question is, would you go for acessibility and convenience to an extent that battery performance/hardware performance is compensated? If you have already given it a thought, great.
You need at least Windows XP to download the latest iTunes which is capable of upgrading your iPad to iOS 5. Followed by connecting your iPad to the computer. Then hit check for updates after navigating into the device menu.
The link in your discussion should also aid you in the consideration.

• IPhone 5S fingerprint reader fails after iOS 7.0.3 upgrade

Hi all.
I recently updated my iPhone 5S to IOS 7.0.3 and ever since then, I am struggling to unlock my phone every time. I press the home button and then I used to just leave my finger on the button and it would unlock. Now it just doesn't seem to recognise my finger is even there.
I lift my finger off and put it on again and nothing. I lift my finger off and actually press the button again and leave my finger there and sometime it unlocks, sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't even say "try again" it simply doesn't recognise I'm trying to unlock it. I'm ready to chuck the bloody thing at the wall!!
Has anybody else experienced this problem since updating to IOS 7.0.3?

I bought my iPhone 5s a few days ago. It came with 7.0.3. It works 100% of the time, but people were having trouble with it when they went from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3. A lot of times, when doing an upgrade, the fingerprint scanner problem can be solved with some simple troubleshooting skills:
Troubleshooting steps:
First, if you have never rebooted your phone after the update, it helps to reset your phone. This is just pressing and holding the home button + power button until the apple logo comes on the screen (the phone will power off and then on. When Apple logo appears, you can let go of both buttons).
If fingerprint scanner is still hit and miss, you should redo your finger prints by go to settings->general->touch id & passcode->touch id. Delete all saved fingerprints (swipe to the left and press delete). Add fingerprints again.
If it still doesn't work or still hit and miss, you can always reinstall the ios. This can be googled. For me, it is too much trouble, so I go to the next step..
Finally, if that's still no good, you can always take it back to the apple store. The warranty on it is a full year so it is free for them to just look at it and tell you if it's a hardware problem. I know cuz I have replaced my iPad, iPhone, and even my macbook this way. No, I don't do it on purpose, but apple products has flaws too. Especially if it is a hardware problem, I need it replaced - and since it is still under warranty, it is replaced for free. So I don't hesitate to stick it in their face. Well, don't be mean about it though. Just say it like it is without the attitude and they will do what they can to help you fix it.
Tips: when you replace your phone, they may or may not give you a "refurbished" phone. That's the only thing I don't like about replacing my apple things. BUT since iPhone 5s is so new, the chances of you receiving a refurbished phone is quite slim... Or so I was told. So don't wait.

• IPhone 4s - Fail during iOS update (7.+) & Unable to recover

So the title is pretty much clear. But just to be sure:
I have an iPhone 4s.
It started acting up. By that I mean that a few applications started crashing at random times. And the connection between iTunes and iPhone (cable) wasen't working well.
Asked some friends, told me that I probably didn't update everything properly.
Then I updated iTunes and my iPhone, while my iPhone was updating it suddenly stopped and it put on the "connect to iTunes" screen.
So it basically went from updating iOS to asking for a clean recover in 10 mins.
The problem now is, that when I connect it to iTunes and click the "Recover iPhone" button, it gets stuck.
The exact point where it gets stuck is where iTunes says "checking/updating iPhone Firmware" and on my iPhone the loadingbar stops arround 55-60%
After that the message "The iPhone iPhone cannot be recovered. An unknown error has occurd (29)".
Any help would be appreciated!

• Itunes failing on ios 7 iphone 4s

Since updating to ios 7 on my iphone 4s I can not get in to intunes store. Apps store is fine! All I get is the store opening but no products just blank screen? Any ideas?

iPhone 4, recently updated to iOS 7.0.2.
I've noticed this exact same problem and it happened before the .2 upgrade. Also, the Podcast app will not let me update or refresh, and I cannot seem to access the iTunes Store Via the Store button.
I have tried to restore, and reboot, but it does the same thing.
I'm going to flatten the phone and do a clean install. I'll report back with any results.
Also, if you have contacts synced with iCloud, then you shouldn't worry about losing them after a clean install. Just resync with iCloud.
I would recomment any app that you use for say, taking stills of receipts or photos, be exported or transfered before a clean install and of course, just go ahead an back up your iPhone in general in case you need to go back for any reason.
Cheers,
MJ
