Uploading data from a windows mobile device to a server using GPRS
I want to upload data from a java application in pda (a Windows Mobile 6.1 device) to a server using a GPRS connection.My application uses a IBM weme VM.
I want to know whether I can do this in Java itself,because otherwise I would have to resort to some C++ methods(that uses the connection manager api) and call that using jni. But if there is some java method for this,it would have been helpful and straightforward..
Can I do this using socket connection in java? if so, Would somebody provide a code snippet ?Which port to connect to in that case?
Plz let me know about this.
Thanks in advance.
Edited by: shreya_ann on Sep 23, 2010 4:44 AMHey forum....
When I dock my Windows Mobile device in a Windows 7 PC, the Windows Mobile Device Center opens and I can browse the device and copy files between it and the PC. However, I'm looking some kind of way to automate this process. All I'm really interested in
is a single file named TEXT.TXT which is stored in the My Documents folder. Basically, I'm looking for a script that will detect the Windows device (it's USB-attached) when docked, find the file TEXT.TXT in the My Documents folder and then copy this file to
the /Temp folder on the desktop.
I've tried using the synchronization feature of WMDC but it copies the file to a documents folder set up for the specific device. Instead, I'm looking to find and copy the file to C:\TEMP regardless of the device.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Everett
Just configure the device to sync the folders you want to sync. Start by reading the help very carefully.
This is not a scripting question and this forum is not for end user questions. I suggest posting in the Windows Phone forum.
You can also sync via OneDrive over a cellular or wireless connection.

There are links on the pages for various Cummulative Updates for SQL Compact v3.5 SP2 which look to relate to the desktop version, but are these also available for Windows Mobile devices? If so, what is the process to get hold of them?
We are seeing intermittent problems with corrupted databases on devices which are using SQL Compact v3.5 SP2 and have seen that some of the Cumulative Updates do relate to corruption and would like to see if these can help to solve the issue.Just select the KB article, at the top of each there is a link to request a hotfix, you will then get a email with a download link. The 8088 and 8109 hotfixes also apply to Windows Mobile.

Can't get mobile device to auto configure the active sync server
Hello
I am trying to get my costumer mobile devices to auto configure the active sync server name so they don't have to type it in. I believe I have everything in place Certificates are fine. I populated the external url on the active sync
object in Exchange.
DNS is set up correct. I ran the Exchange Connectivity Analyzer and it runs perfectly. The only test step if fails on is the first attempt to contact the autodiscover service using just the domain name and that is because we have a
record in DNS so our domain name points to our public web server but all the other tests run fine. At the end, it even displays the xml file contents and shows me the external url of the active sync object.
I get a successful run but it first shows SSL certifiate of our public Web site and then hangs on the server config and then prompts me to enter in the server name and domain. My external url in Exchange looks like this:
https://remote.domain.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
Any Help??
EddieThank you for replaying but there is already internal A record that points to Exchange server. Firewall, DNS external and internal are setup like this:
Firewall:
Port 443 and 25 points to Internal IP of our Exchange 2013 (only mail server in company).
Port 80 not open.
External DNS records:
autodiscover.mydomain.com à points to our WAN IP
remote.mydomain.com à points to our WAN IP
mydomain.com à points to external online webhosting
Internal DNS records:
autodiscover.mydomain.com à points to ours Exchange 2013 internal IP
Remote.mydomain.com à points to ours Exchange 2013 internal IP
mydomain.com à points to external online webhosting
Test form "ExchangeConnectivityTest.com" is Successful but with warnings.
Warnings are about https://mydomain.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.XML
because
https://mydomain.com is
pointing to website, which is hosted externally.

IOS Mobile Device Management - The SCEP server returned an invalid response
I am in the process of writing an open source iOS mobile device management module in Java. For this I am referring the Apple provided Ruby code at [1]. I have set this up and it works fine for me. Now I need to convert this code to Java. So far I have accomplished to do that up to PKIOperation. In the PKI operation I get "The SCEP server returned an invalid response" which I believe is due to wrong response I sent to device upon PKIOperation.
However when I do search on the internet I get this is something to do with the "maxHttpHeaderSize" as I am using the server as Apache Tomcat. Although I increase that since still it does not get resolved.
Here is the code I need to convert - taken from Apple provided Ruby script
if query['operation'] == "PKIOperation"
p7sign = OpenSSL::PKCS7::PKCS7.new(req.body)
store = OpenSSL::X509::Store.new
p7sign.verify(nil, store, nil, OpenSSL::PKCS7::NOVERIFY)
signers = p7sign.signers
p7enc = OpenSSL::PKCS7::PKCS7.new(p7sign.data)
csr = p7enc.decrypt(@@ra_key, @@ra_cert)
cert = issueCert(csr, 1)
degenerate_pkcs7 = OpenSSL::PKCS7::PKCS7.new()
degenerate_pkcs7.type="signed"
degenerate_pkcs7.certificates=[cert]
enc_cert = OpenSSL::PKCS7.encrypt(p7sign.certificates, degenerate_pkcs7.to_der,
OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher::new("des-ede3-cbc"), OpenSSL::PKCS7::BINARY)
reply = OpenSSL::PKCS7.sign(@@ra_cert, @@ra_key, enc_cert.to_der, [], OpenSSL::PKCS7::BINARY)
res['Content-Type'] = "application/x-pki-message"
res.body = reply.to_der
end
So this is how I written this in Java using Bouncycastle library.
X509Certificate generatedCertificate = generateCertificateFromCSR(
privateKeyCA, certRequest, certCA.getIssuerX500Principal()
.getName());
CMSTypedData msg = new CMSProcessableByteArray(
generatedCertificate.getEncoded());
CMSEnvelopedDataGenerator edGen = new CMSEnvelopedDataGenerator();
edGen.addRecipientInfoGenerator(new JceKeyTransRecipientInfoGenerator(
receivedCert).setProvider(AppConfigurations.PROVIDER));
CMSEnvelopedData envelopedData = edGen
.generate(
msg,
new JceCMSContentEncryptorBuilder(
CMSAlgorithm.DES_EDE3_CBC).setProvider(
AppConfigurations.PROVIDER).build());
CMSSignedDataGenerator gen = new CMSSignedDataGenerator();
ContentSigner sha1Signer = new JcaContentSignerBuilder(
AppConfigurations.SIGNATUREALGO).setProvider(
AppConfigurations.PROVIDER).build(privateKeyRA);
List<X509Certificate> certList = new ArrayList<X509Certificate>();
CMSTypedData cmsByteArray = new CMSProcessableByteArray(
envelopedData.getEncoded());
certList.add(certRA);
Store certs = new JcaCertStore(certList);
gen.addSignerInfoGenerator(new JcaSignerInfoGeneratorBuilder(
new JcaDigestCalculatorProviderBuilder().setProvider(
AppConfigurations.PROVIDER).build()).build(
sha1Signer, certRA));
gen.addCertificates(certs);
CMSSignedData sigData = gen.generate(cmsByteArray, true);
return sigData.getEncoded();
The returned result here will be output in to the servlet output stream with the content type "application/x-pki-message".
It seems I get the CSR properly and I generate the X509Certificate using following code.
public static X509Certificate generateCertificateFromCSR(
PrivateKey privateKey, PKCS10CertificationRequest request,
String issueSubject) throws Exception {
Calendar targetDate1 = Calendar.getInstance();
targetDate1.setTime(new Date());
targetDate1.add(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, -1);

targetDate2.setTime(new Date());
targetDate2.add(Calendar.YEAR, 2);
// yesterday
Date validityBeginDate = targetDate1.getTime();
// in 2 years
Date validityEndDate = targetDate2.getTime();
X509v3CertificateBuilder certGen = new X509v3CertificateBuilder(
new X500Name(issueSubject), BigInteger.valueOf(System
.currentTimeMillis()), validityBeginDate,
validityEndDate, request.getSubject(),
request.getSubjectPublicKeyInfo());
certGen.addExtension(X509Extension.keyUsage, true, new KeyUsage(
KeyUsage.digitalSignature | KeyUsage.keyEncipherment));
ContentSigner sigGen = new JcaContentSignerBuilder(
AppConfigurations.SHA256_RSA).setProvider(
AppConfigurations.PROVIDER).build(privateKey);
X509Certificate issuedCert = new JcaX509CertificateConverter()
.setProvider(AppConfigurations.PROVIDER).getCertificate(
certGen.build(sigGen));
return issuedCert;

Problem uploading file from mobile device to tomcat server
Hi guys, here's how it goes.
I'm designing a site using JSP for wireless devices like PDAs, Smartphones etc, basically any mobile device that has browser capabilities. There's a page where the user is allowed to upload a file from the mobile device, which works perfectly fine when I access the site using a PC. But when I try to upload a file from a mobile device, ( I tried using a Nokia 6680 ) , there wasn't any error but the file just wasn't stored in my server.
Here's how the upload form looks like :
<FORM name="filesForm" action="ProcessFileUpload.jsp" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">
<font size="1" face="arial">File :</font><br>
<input type="file" name="file1" size="10" style="font-size: 9px;"/><br><br>
<input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Upload Files" style="font-size: 9px;"/>
</FORM>Here's the gist of ProcessFileUpload.jsp:
<%
System.out.println("");
System.out.println("Content Type ="+request.getContentType());
DiskFileUpload fu = new DiskFileUpload();
// If file size exceeds, a FileUploadException will be thrown
fu.setSizeMax(1000000);
List fileItems = fu.parseRequest(request);
Iterator itr = fileItems.iterator();
while(itr.hasNext()) {
FileItem fi = (FileItem)itr.next();
//Check if not form field so as to only handle the file inputs
//else condition handles the submit button input
if(!fi.isFormField()) {
System.out.println("NAME: "+fi.getName());
System.out.println("SIZE: "+fi.getSize());
System.out.println(fi.getOutputStream().toString());
// File fNew= new File(application.getRealPath("/"), fi.getName());
File tempFileRef = new File(fi.getName());
File fNew = new File(filepath.toString(),tempFileRef.getName());
String MM_Overall_DRIVER = "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver";
String MM_Overall_USERNAME = "****";
String MM_Overall_PASSWORD = "*********";
String MM_Overall_STRING = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/";
Driver DriverRecordset1 = (Driver)Class.forName(MM_Overall_DRIVER).newInstance();
Connection ConnRecordset1 = DriverManager.getConnection(MM_Overall_STRING,MM_Overall_USERNAME,MM_Overall_PASSWORD);
PreparedStatement StatementRecordset1 = ConnRecordset1.prepareStatement("use " + domain);
ResultSet Recordset1 = StatementRecordset1.executeQuery();
filepath.append("/").append(tempFileRef.getName());
StringBuffer fp = new StringBuffer("insert into ");
fp.append(domain).append(".filepaths (path) values ('").append(filepath).append("')");
PreparedStatement ps = ConnRecordset1.prepareStatement(fp.toString());
ps.executeUpdate();
System.out.println(fNew.getAbsolutePath());
fi.write(fNew);
else {
System.out.println("Field ="+fi.getFieldName());
}Basically I store the file uploaded in the tomcat server and the path of the file is saved in a table in MySQL.
When I upload a file using a PC, the tomcat console displays the content type file name yada yada yada. However, when I upload a file from the Nokia 6680, I get just the content type then things just stop there and nothing else happens. No file name no file size whatsoever. The path of the file is not inserted into MySQL and the file is not stored in the server.
Can anyone please enlighten me on this issue and hopefully gimme a solution to this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.-bump-

Need to test iCal server with Mobile devices
I have a deployment of the iCal Server rolling out to a global user community. I know it works with the iPhone and iPad, but I need other mobile platforms that we can test it with. So if there are any users with other mobile devices that want to test connections to a Caldav server - I would love to be able to try it out.
Hi Dave,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to make the calendars in SharePoint can be viewed in iCalendar format in the mobile devices.
To make the SharePoint calendars be viewed in iCalendar format and then you can sync your iPhone with the calendar , you can use the
MashPoint REST API. Please refer to the link below:

Best regards.

Download file from server to Mobile Device
Hello everyone,
I would like to know firstly if downloading a file from a server to the Mobile device is possible or not. Secondly, if it is then is there a working example (code) I can use.
What I need is to simply download a text (.txt) file, nothing fancy :-)
Thanks,
TADAHi,
First of all your mobile device has to support JSR75 (PDA Optional Package for J2ME = File connection & PIM).
Use following link to read a very useful article at SDN, about this API.

There is also the sample code located, you are looking for.

Access Project Server 2013 from personal mobile device
Dear All,
This is something great about Project Server 2013 (PWA) where users can view theirs task & other information on their personal mobiles, tabs etc. But i not able to access my company Project Server 2013.
Is that i am missing something to install or configure PWA 2013 as i am admin for this application?
Kindly let me knowThat means your PWA site collection in not published externally so your mobile device can't resolve the DNS. If you connect your mobile device to the same network your Project Server environment is on, it will work as the DNS would resolve. You probably
want to look at publishing PWA externally if you want to use it on mobile devices. Here are some links for you / your IT department, the process is the same for PWA and any other SharePoint site collection:
