Modify Flash CC's HTML5 template?
I am trying to include some other Javascript libraries into code created when converting some old Flash animations to HTML5/JS.
It's simple enough to just open the Flash CC-published .html file and add the necessary <script> statements to the head, but of course, every time you re-publish the Flash CC HTML and JS, it overwrites the added lines when the HTML file is updated.
Unchecking the "Publish HTML" box doesn't help all that much.
Is it possible to modify the "template" that Flash CC uses to output HTML? This would save a lot of tedious cutting and pasting when testing animations.
TIA!
Thanks, Nipun. My basic problem is that I have a fair amount of Flash work that needs to be "converted" so that it will function on iOS devices.
I have been playing around with Flash CC's abilities to pull in existing FLA files, and modify them for HTML5 output. I have found MANY problems with this "workflow," thus far. I am not even convinced that the "conversion" is even useful, given the things that need to be addressed, even down to stuff like confronting a different scheme for frame numbering on the Timeline, etc.
The Edge Animate software is hopelessly crippled by its failure to (automatically) address cross-browser flavors of HTML5 coding, and by its reliance on having to hand-code almost anything that isn't related to the Timeline advancing - i.e., stuff that "jumps around" automatically, as opposed to someting approaching the REAL functionality that we had in Actionscript.
So, I'm still really waiting to see what transpires before I devote any more of my time to learning software that doesn't seem like it's truly addressing the issue of seamless, cross-platform HTML5 animation.

Inserting Flash in a DW template
I'm relatively new to Dreamweaver (version 8) and I'm having
a problem inserting a flash (.swf) slideshow of pictures into a
template that then updates several webpages. The problem is, when I
insert the flash into the template page and the webpages get
updated, the flash animation does not play on the webpages and just
has a white box. If I detach the template from the webpage, then
the flash displays correctly. But the problem with that is then
there is no point to using a template because I would have to
manually update each webpage instead of just the template when I
want to make a change to all the webpages. The problem must be with
the template, because when I try to attach the template to a very
simple webpage containing only a couple words and no other
graphics, the flash will not display correctly. Any ideas on what
is wrong or how I can insert a flash slideshow into a template so
that it updates the webpages correctly?Make the link to the Flash element ROOT relative.
That way, the link doesn't need to be managed and will work
just fine in
your Template child pages.

Code coloring error in HTML5 templates
Is it just me?
In both HTML5 templates (two or three column), that one can select after select 'New' from the 'File' menu the code is all grayed out after the browser conditional:
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js">##HERE##</script>
<![endif]--></head>
<!-- This HTML comment is here for no other reason but to fix the code coloring in Dreamweaver -->
Code coloring is fine up to my indicator ##HERE## above, after that all grayed out till next end HTML commnet '-->'.
I can fix it, lamely, with the comment you see above, "<!-- This HTML...-->"
If the line <script ...>...</script> is removed from in between the conditional tags everything is fine.
Thanks for any help.Just put a blank html comment <!----> after<! [endif] ->, the problem will disappear, the color will appear
example:
<!--[ IF lt IE 9]>
<scriptsrc="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"> </ script>
<! [endif] -> <!---->

Modifying existing Coll. Room Template
Dear KM friends,
I have created a Collaboration Room Template.
But i need to changes in Pages layout, iView settings, even i need to add new pages and delete.
can anybody tell me, How to modify the existing Collaboration Room Template??
Please reply me
thanx in advance
KanthaHi,
As per the doc...
Each template contains technical attributes and settings for the rooms or room parts that are created based on the template. In the portal, the templates are stored as Collaboration content.
You maintain templates in room template administration or in room part template administration.
In the template, you define the room or room part structure by assigning a workset to the template (see Maintaining Worksets for Templates). The following special points apply to this assignment:
· You can use one workset as the basis for more than one template, which are differentiated by their external parameters, for example.
When you create a template, the system copies the workset assigned and assigns this copy exclusively to the template. Changes to a workset that is already assigned to a template are made only to this template.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/44/f99140c2eab118e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
You can simply delete or add or modify the pages to the workset in the templete.

Modify default font of iweb template
Hi there,
I'm using the dark room template for my website, but i'd like to change the default font of the blog (Futura) to Lucida Grande.
It was very easy to modify fonts for the new blog entries but any possibility to modify the dark room "blog" template to have lucida grande as default.
Thanks for your help.

Background image displays locally in HTML5 template but not when published
I have used an excellent HTML5 template which uses JavaScript to display background images. However while this file works locally it doesn't when published. The site structure is sound and I notice this happens with the source files I downloaded also so it's nothing I have done in my build which could have caused this.
This is the link to my site, everything is fine except the background image not showing.
http://www.khawkinsdesign.com
Any ideas, as I say fine locally, not fine when published?
Message was edited by: Kyle HawkinsHi Kyle,
I realise you posted your question a couple of days ago but it looks like your background image issue may now be fixed?
In any case, your site has a few issues. Not sure who told you the template was HTML 5 but they might be yanking your chain. There is nothing HTML 5 about the code used and the DOCTYPE is from HTML 4. As such, some of the code you have used is throwing up errors - some related to the DOCTYPE and some where you haven't closed the tags:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.khawkinsdesign.com%2F&charset=%28detect +automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
<ul id="footer-nav">
<li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="portfolio.html">Portfolio</a></li>
<li><a href="about.html">About</a></li> /*The closing tag is missing in your code */
<li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li> /*The closing tag is missing in your code */
</ul>
It would be best to amend the errors but some might disappear when you add the HTML 5 DOCTYPE in to your code. Things like your lack of "type" on the sources is a required v4 attribute, but not in v5.
<!DOCTYPE html>
Have a read through this for more info - this is a great resource for everything HTML 5. http://diveintohtml5.info/
Rik
EDIT:// It seems that the DOCTYPE is the 5 version on all but the home page so you may only have one to correct. However, there are still no HTML 5 elements used to take advantage of the new DOCTYPE. -
Including a Flash movie within a template
Hi,
I've put a Flash banner into a template and saved it. The
actual template works fine when i check it in the browser but all
the pages that are attached to the template just have a white space
where the banner should be.
Do templates not allow for flash movies? No. I mean to make the link so that it's relative to the ROOT
of the site,
e.g.,
/flash/whatever.swf
rather than relative to the template document, e.g.,
../flash/whatever.swf
The former link will be functional on any page in any
location in your site,
since it always starts the path at the root of the site. The
latter link
will *only* work from the template page and not from any
particular child
page.

Exporting flash files as HTML5
Is there a way of exporting more complex flash animations to HTML5 please? I create scientific animations in flash - http://www.liquidjigsaw.com/science/animation - and my clients now wish them to be viewable on an ipad.
Also the new animations I create have been requested in HTML5. I have done lots of research and installed the Toolkit for JSCreate for flash but this only works for very simple animations.
This is becoming a big concern for my business - can you advise please? Or should I no longer be using Flash?Yes I think the AIR files can be put on a website but they can also be distributed outside the App Store. This is called ad-hoc distribution and is a privilege that comes with being a Registerd Apple Developer although you are limited to 100 devices per year.
Adobe AIR (for iOS or for Android) has allowed me to port many pieces of Flash work straight over to mobile devices with only a few lines of ActionScript needing to be changed. So Flash does run on iOS (although inside a native wrapper)! -
Future of Flash/Flex given HTML5 shows strongly
Facebook has chosen HTML5 as the language to develop the new platform. It seems Flash/Flex is losing the war. Any comments?
The one between Flash/Flex and HTML5, or between Adobe/Google and Apple. People are complaining Flex applications use a lot of memories and CPU powers on mobile devices. But I'm not so sure how good HTML5 is.
Can you do a digital Guitar like the one we saw on Google a few days back using Flex? I heard it was done with HTML5. -

Modifying DVD Studio Pro Apple template's
I have a DVD Studio Pro question regarding how to modify DVD Studio Pro Apple template's with out loosing their key atributes of menu page quantity calculation and button advance direction flow. The Apple templet I was trying to modify was "Portfolio".
To what extent did you need to change it?
If you are wanting to add additional items to the existing template, then this is not a problem... just add what you need. If you want to change the background image then this too is probably possible. Apply the template, look in the assets tab, open the folder called 'Templates' and look for the file you want to change, then control+click on it, select 'reveal in finder'. From now on make a backup of the original and then change it as you see fit. Revert to backup when you need to
Not all templates are customisable, but the Portfolio one appears to be. -
Modify Flash Video Bandwidth Template
Good Day.
I'm hoping someone might be able to give me an idea as to
what I'm doing wrong...
Using Flash MX Pro 2004 with the built-in template, Video
> Bandwidth Select. I'm tring to pass a URL varible of a FLV
movie name to the actionscript in the 3rd screen (select screen). I
have tried EVERYTHING I can think of to dynamically pass a varible
(in this case a movie name) to SWF. I have tried using flashvars
and URL variables (but not text files as it adds more complexity).
I just can't get it to work. When I manage to get something to show
up, like in a simple text box, it always says 'undefined'.
Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong... or can you not do
this with this template?
Thank you, so kindly.
Joseph Krogman. What I need is to be able to take flash 9, AS3 swfs, import
them into a Director 11 project, and interact with the flash
funcitons, call them, set properties, etc. Despite the
documentation on the Adobe Director page saying this is possible, I
have not been able to get it to work, and other posters on this
board have stated that it is currently not possible. Any clarity or
examples would help. I notice Director 11 has no entries concerning
Director/flash programming yet on the Adobe Developer page, just
tutorials for MX2004. -
Flash Drag and Drop Template in Captivate. *HELP*
Good morning.
I am attempting to use the drag and drop learning interaction
that comes pre-packaged with Flash CS3 and import it into Captivate
for use in a Captivate based e-learning exercise.
I create the drag and drop just fine in Flash, and it looks
perfect when I publish it in Flash, etc.
When I attempt to use the EXACT same SWF in Captivate,
however, it does not work. I can move the drags around the screen,
but they will not "drop" where they are supposed to.
Thinking maybe I broke the template, I went ahead and just
imported it 100% unchanged from Flash into Captivate (without me
messing around with it changing things around) and it does the
exact same thing.
I have successfully used my own homemade flash "widgets" in
Captivate, to include like click and reveal type interactions...for
whatever reason, though, I can't get this one to work, even though
I know it works perfectly in Flash.
The .swf file was developed using ActionScript 2.0 in Flash
and I tried publishing it with Flash 9 and Flash 8 as the setting,
both do the same thing.
Help!!!?
Thanks.
RobHi R
Note that the Border simply adds space to the project so the
playback controls aren't covering part of your movie. Assuming you
want that to continue AND have a playback control, you might resize
the project so the playback control is included in the main movie
as well as being placed in an area that doesn't possibly obscure
any screen activity.
Cheers... Rick -
How to modify Apple's "Project Proposal" template in Pages 5.0?
In Pages 5.0 I want to use Apple's "Project Proposal" template for my project proposals, but I need to modify Apple's original template.
Removing the image works in the "Modern Report" template - but does not work in the "Project Proposal" template.
What is the difference in how the image is places in the "Modern Report" template vs the "Project Proposal" template?
In Apple's original version on the first page, there is a large image, followed by:
Project Proposal
Prepared for: Trenz Pruca, Title
Prepared by: Urna Semper, Job Title
2013年10月26日
Proposal number: 123-4567
I need to remove the image, and start my text from the top of the first page. I could manage to remove Apple's original image easily, but the space previously occupied by the image remains as empty space. I tried for a couple of hours to eliminate this empty space (previously occopied by the image) and move the "Project Proposal etc" text to the top, but could not find a way to do that.
Where can I find and modify the offset of the text from the top of the page, or eliminate the empty space previously occupied by the image.
There seem to be some controls hidden somewhere in the Pages software, or of the template itself, which I could not find yet, where this text offset from the top is controlled.
Any help greatly appreciated.
GerhardI encounter the same problem today when trying to use this template, and after reading previous replies, I went and copy all the elements (Select All) into a new blank document (don't have an older Pages version) and it worked just fine for me, no overlaping or anything, as you can see on the image below, the layout doesn't start after the image, I just had to tweak it a little, like moving the company name and upper line to the top (and move them to section master) and manually adding the bottom line.
I'm new here, so if any of you can tell me if and how can I upload my Project Proposal template I just created to this discussion, I'll be happy to share it with all of you.
