Monitoring Servers hosted on Cloud.

Hi Guys,
I came across a request to check if it possible to monitor servers hosted on Cloud (Any cloud), servers in cloud are Windows and Centos flavors.
Pls help me in getting the possible solution and consideration which has to be taken care prior planning.
Pls Note: My request here is about only monitoring servers in the cloud, not the cloud itself.
Thanks !
- Thanks, Sai

Sure, that's possible.
You will need the Firewall(s) konfigured to allow TCP 5723 from the agent or gateway to the manager. Further, if there is no domain level trust you have to use certificates to achieve that.

  • How do I calculate if my client has enough bandwidth to have it's servers hosted within the cloud?

    Hi,
How do I calculate if my client will have a fast enough connection speed to have it's servers hosted within the cloud?
I come from a BI background so I am thinking of multi-billion record data sets, multiple users, etc.
Of course I also have projected future growth in mind.
Is there a white paper to guide me on best practice in this area?
    Kind Regards,
    Kieran.

  • Can I use virtual Servers in private cloud for RAC

    Hello  to all
We are going to install an Oracle RAC on two servers
But our Hardware Administrator says to us   “I Allocate two virtual servers in the our private cloud not two physical Servers (or real Servers)”
Do you think it’s practical and reasonable to using virtual Server for Oracle RAC  in production environment ?
Which one is better physical server or virtual server  for RAC?
    Please write your reasons
    Thanks

Using virtual machines is officially  supported for RAC only in a few cases which can be found here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/virtualizationmatrix-172995.html
Make sure that you meet these requirements in your private cloud. Some cases like vmware are still somewhat supported despite beeing not on the list.
Beside this you should make sure that your 2 virtual machines run on different hardware servers in the cloud, otherwise you lose most parts of the rac advantage regarding high availability, when both virtual servers happen to run on the same hardware during a crash
Virtual servers are used in production environments, but you will have to take greater care for many aspects of rac compared to physical hardware, e.g.. something like "live migration" of vmware can kill a rac node due to timeout.
I would prefer hardware for rac anytime over virtual servers and spare me the hassle of dealing with all possible issues arising from the virtualization.
    And check oracles licensing policy...
Running an enterprise edition rac on e.g. a large vmware cluster is insanely expensive, you pay every cpu core the rac COULD run on -> the entire cluster!
If you must use virtual hardware but don't want to and need an argument against it use the license issue.

  • All agentless monitored servers showing same percent memory used

I have 13 servers that are managed agentless via a proxy agent on the gateway server. I do this as when I had them set up to use the agent, the agent was consuming too much CPU on the servers. So, all appears to be fine, it is pulling in the percent CPU
usage and such, and recognizes the OS version and what not. The issue I have, is I set up a dashboard with a performance widget to track the percent memory used. All of my agentless monitored servers show the same percentage, and the percentage is also much
higher than what I see on the actual servers. So, it appears that there may be some form of roll up or something on the agentless servers, or it's taking the highest from the group, or I'm not drilling into the right counter or something. I have two widgets,
one that is performance and one that is performance object. The performance one grabs the object "Memory", counter of "PercentMemoryUsed", with no performance instance selected (although I have also tried "all"). The performance
object widget selects the same performance counter (Memory / PercentMemoryUsed /) and again have also tried "all" there as well. This allows the performance widget to graph/show the last value and maximum value, while the performance object shows
me the average sorted from highest to lowest. I have another server that is agent managed in the same list, that shows what appears to be accurate information...and there is also a performance counter for cpu usage that appears to have accurate data for all
of the above (agent and agentless). So, why am I seeing this issue with my agentless servers?

  • What is Novell's successor product manage & monitor servers?

Based on the inactivity in the group, I'm guessing there's another product
offering to manage & monitor servers?
If yes, can you guide to it. The ZCM 10 groups seem only for desktops.
Just wondering if Novell's no longer offering something to monitor servers.
    Thanks,
    Marc

Thanks. We presently use ZfD 7 and I'd like test out this ZSM. When we
upgrade to ZCM10 from ZfD 7 any compatibility problems with with ZSM M&M ?
Should we even consider implementing ZSM M&M? I mean is the writing on the
wall for it being discontinued or replaced?

  • Monitoring servers in SCOM 2012 via different locals within the same management group

    Hi,
I have 2 management servers in a same management group. The 1st one is having English (US) locale while other is installed on Swedish locale. Both are accessed by different users having same admin rights.
Once a USER 1 try to register a server through authoring tab from 1st management server(installed on English locale), a profile/group wrt the server registered is created successfully but the USER on 2nd management server (installed on Swedish locale) can
not see the same in Authoring tab. He can view it in Monitoring tab as as well as Administration tab.
The Vice versa is also true.
Does any one have idea that is it SCOM 2012's expected behaviour wrt 2 2 different users on 2 different locales within a same management group ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I am a little confused, what do you mean by "register a server through authoring tab"?
Do you mean that when you discover a server on 1st MS with discovery wizard then you cannot see it on 2nd MS(and the vice versa)?
As far as I know, all those information should be stored in the operation database which is shared to both MSs within the same management group.
We may use SQL query to find the discovered server on the operation database. Please also check operation manager event logs to get more information to troubleshoot this issue.

  • Failed Job Query on Central Management Registered Servers - Host Server is not included in results

The following standard query works great for showing failed jobs on servers. Executing this in Central Management Registered Servers works as expected, but the Host Server results are not listed, and the same query needs to be executed against the host server
    too.
    e.g.
Registered Servers are defined on Server A
Results are displayed from servers B, C, D & E - but results are not displayed for Server A.
How do we receive results from Server A without having to execute a separate query ?
    DECLARE @PreviousDate datetime
    DECLARE @Year VARCHAR(4)
    DECLARE @Month VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @MonthPre VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @Day VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @DayPre VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @FinalDate INT

    SELECT @MonthPre = CONVERT(VARCHAR(2), DATEPART(mm, @PreviousDate))
    SELECT @Month = RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR, (@MonthPre + 1000000000)),2)

    Hi vsla,
According to your description, I do a test. When I designate a Central Management Servers and create server groups, then execute statements against
     multiple configuration targets simultaneously, it
indeed only contains the results of server groups, you need to execute again on the host server (Central Management Servers) then display the results of Central Management Servers, because the Central Management Server cannot be a member
of a group that it maintains.
If you want to get all servers results by executing the statement one time. I recommend you use Local Server Groups, create new register server and add all servers to the Local Server Groups, then right click “new query
“, execute the statements, it will display all results about all servers. There are more details about administering multiple servers using Central Management Servers, you can review the following article.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb895144

  • RDS 2012 - using Virtulization Host role on HyperV Servers hosting VMs

I have an existing RDS2012 farm which is working great with Session Hosted Desktops.
I'm looking to evaluate pooled Windows 8.1 desktops and know I need to run these on HyperV servers with the RDS Virtualization host role installed.
I have an existing production HyperV cluster for servers and am wondering if i should use this for the Windows 8.1 VMs and if so, do i need to install the virtualization host role on all servers in this cluster.
Or would it be best practise to dedicate a HyperV server/cluster purely for hosting the RDS Win8 client VM's (and keeping the virtualization host role off the production HyperV cluster)?
    Thanks.

Virtual Desktops have different performance and capacity requirements than typical server workloads.  It is recommended to visualize desktops on hyper-visors dedicated to desktops only.  For capacity planning for virtual desktops on Hyper V, refer

  • Can't connect to adobe servers in creative cloud

I just got photoshop cc and lightroom but  when I open creative cloud and go to apps it says that I couldn't connect to the adobe servers. It asks me to check the firewall and my internet connection and I have done that but nothing happened. • Monitor Servers from separate SCOM instances

Quick question regarding SCOM 2012. I have had to design a single physical SCOM 2012R2 setup for a company which also has SQL installed locally. This was against my recommendations but business and cost requirements have dictated this. We have 2 datacentres,
DC1 and DC2. DC1 is the primary and DC2 is the DR site. They are looking for some kind of high availbility, can anyone advise if the following is possible:
2 single server SCOM instances, one at DC1 and the other at DC2 both with SQL installed locally
Monitor the servers at DC1 and DC2 from both instances using multi-homed agents
Would this be possible? I appreciate this would add administrative overhead but cant think of any other way to possibly do this due to only having a single server at each DC.

for building up high availability solution of SCOM 2012 r2, you should built two managment server, one managemnet server,MS1, locate in site DC1 and other,MS2, is located in site DC2. SCOM agents in DC1 report to MS1 and SCOM agents in DC2 report to MS2.
All agents should be configured autofailover to other Managemtn server. For a high availability of DB, you may refer to high availability solution on DB by using AlwaysOn Availability Groups.

  • Hosted or cloud ? Apex...

We are planning to put our application in a hosted or a cloud environment..
Can any one tell me the cost involved..We do have oracle xe to accomplish this...
We are looking for cheap cost... We dont need huge expense..And we also have a dba in our team..
I solution is envica ..Though it is not cloud ..But there are advantages ..They have some plans which states 20 dollars a month..
    Quite ok...
Dealing with envica or others we will have support , no need for a dba ,etc so we can reduce cost..this manner
How is it with amazon..Amazon will be cost effective if we have huge data..
We also use jasper for reports..
Let us know who has more information about it...
When we are going to cloud what are the cost consideration to take around. .
Also looking for cheapest cloud implementation..

    Hi,
    >
How is it with amazon..Amazon will be cost effective if we have huge data..
We also use jasper for reports..
    >
Depends on how huge is the data.
XE limits of 1 GB RAM and 11 GB tablespace apply on the cloud as well. You will need to setup the Jasper + Integration yourself. You have to manage your EC2 Instance yourself as well. Moreover, you will need at least 3 or 4 GB RAM on the instance to run XE + Jasper.
Please take a look at this page, if you have not already done so.
So you need to check if this is big enough for you (certainly not huge data). If you deploy SOne or SE on the EC2 instance the cost starts climbing up, license + bigger EC2 instance.
Apex Hosting Service providers offer you Oracle 11g SE as well as EE. But the cost goes up significantly when you ask for more Db space. At some point it will become cheaper to have your own co-located server purely on the cost front. Cloud will be cheaper than co-located. There is also the CAPEX vs OPEX aspect for "huge data" as the amounts involved are bigger.
As a side note, avoid XE on VPS.

  • SCOM 2012 unable to monitor servers

I have build a SCOM 2012 POC, post sql & SCOM installation am not able to monitor any servers.
I have added servers for agent monitoring. I had tried importing few management packs also. but i dont servers in the any monitoring alerts views. i have waited for 2 or 3 days too but unable to see any servers.
Please suggest me what are the must have management packs for SCOM 2012 for windows 2008 and 2012 monitoring.
Do we need to patch or install any hotfix for this to work am not sure..
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    ndraj

    1) check whether those server is under scom monitoring: operations console --> administration worksace --> Device Management --> Agent Managed --> whether you see your server is under this view and its health state is healthy(Green check mark)
    2) monitoring Windows Server 2008 and 2012: you should download
System Center Managment pack for Windows Server Operatng System, its current version is 6.0.7061.0.
    3) Run as account:  specify credentials for specific computers
    4) Run as profile: When a workflow requires rights and privileges that the default action account cannot provide, the workflow can be written to use a Run As profile. A Run As profile can have multiple Run As accounts associated with it.
