More on the modem on hold issue

I'm having a little trouble wrapping my mind around this.
I have a script that involves AppleOnHoldModem.app
If certain conditions occur while the script it running, that app is most likely generating information which I'd like to capture, I would guess by providing a value for a variable identified by the app. For example, the app might provide a name associated with the variable "Caller_" If that's a possibility, the problem is that I don't really know how the variable(s) are identified ("Caller_" is just a guess).
I think my question is this: Is there any way of identifying or listing all the variables that are related to the application? (This may be a totally absurd question, but I'm not sure.)

I think this definitely needs some clarification as to what I'm actually trying to do.
I'm running a background script that polls "state of status" of Internet Connect.app. It is known that state of status "12" signifies the occurrence of an incoming phone call while connected. So if a "12" occurs, I get the date and time at that moment (which works fine) and then go looking for the caller id info (name and phone number) of the caller.
I suspect that the caller id info becomes the value of a variable in the AppleModemOnHold.app (AMOH.app). Hence, when a "12" occurs, my background script does this:
tell application "AppleModemOnHold"
try
get CallerID
on error
beep
end try
If the result were to be the name and phone number of the caller, then I'd be all set.
But the problem is that "CallerID" is just a guess as to the variable's name; I've strung together about a dozen "educated guesses," all of them unsuccessful. This means that either a) my idea of how the AMOH.app relates to this is all wrong, or b) I simply have yet to guess the variable name correctly.
That's behind my interest in identifying by name all variables associated with AMOH.app.
Clearer? Probably clear as mud, huh?

  • Issue on deployment: Solution Deployment : Missing one or more of the following attributes from the root node in solution .wsp: assembly '', type ''

    Hi,
I have the following issue when deploying:
Solution Deployment : Missing one or more of the following attributes from the root node in solution .wsp: assembly '', type ''
The solution is a farm solution (was never sandbox) and it deploys fine.
It was updated several times with success. We did not see this issue until recently when we had some other issue (unrelated) and looked at the logs. The solution is updated without problem and updates are available for the user. But we can see this error
in the logs at the update time.
Any idea what might cause this?
    Pop Anisia

    Hi,
This error is wide meaning, as it can come from differences between SP versions, variables types used, bad manifest file, WebConfiguration ...
You can try to redeploy the solution.
retracted the solution, removed all the previous ref, removed dll from GAC and folder from 14\features and reset the iis, deploying it again.
Here are some similar issue post, you can use as a reference:

In additional, you can check the ULS log (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS) to get the detailed information.
    I hope this helpful.

  • Cant send mms messages. I get the error message:  "one or more of the message components have been delted by MMS Adaptation.  Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your handset".  This only seems to be an issue to iphones.

I cant send pic messages to iphone users. I get the error message:  "one or more of the message components have been delted by MMS Adaptation.  Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your handset".  This only seems to be an issue to iphones.  I like this phone but have had nothing but trouble since day one.  I am so tired of being on the phone with verizon and still not getting all the problems corrected.  Someone please help!

    Hello christina267,
Help is right here, front and center! Let's get your mms working properly. May I ask are you using the original stock messaging app to send texts and mms? Also, are you using any special characters or emojis in your message? Since you state that the issue is to iPhones, did you happen to have used an iPhone on your mobile number just before you were using the Galasy S 5? As you share the details then we can investigate.
    Thank you…

  • My usb modem will not connect to the internet after upgrading to OS X. The modem is active and was issued an IP addreess. There apparently is a connection error between the modem and Safari. Any ideas would be welcomed

MY USB modem will not connect to the Internet. The modem appears active on either USB ports and an IP address is assigned. The interface between the modem appears to be the problem. Any ideas?

What did have you do if anything?
I also tried to connect with an ethernet cord, and that too is not working.
What were the results from the Network Diagnostic test when connected by ethernet?
I've been searching online for hours and have found no solution that has worked.
What were those solutions that did not work other than what you already mentioned?

I note with irony how you will see that someone tried to contact me...but that isn't the case. I contacted them. By phone because that was what the "Chat" customer service person told me to do. This is classic case of one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. When I do get a live person on the phone ....Basically....verizon says there is a "line problem" and I wait for three days and the speed gets better for about a week, and then the speed drops off.
They can't deliver what I am paying for. I don't have a phone, I pay for high speed internet because FIOS is unavailable. Currently as I type this....speed test says I am .9/.27...the modem tells me 1.5/.4 but it drops as well. What is the issue, Verizon?
In addition someone on Verizon's end says...someone will call you in a few hours...which never happens. Never. More like in a day or two. If that.

  • WRT160N wont' recognize modem and other issues

To prevent a wall of text from being even taller, here are the three topographies presented in some crude visuals:
    Default, Option "A"
    Better, Option "B"
    Optimal, Option "C"
On second thought those images are pretty tall. That totally backfired. Enjoy the art.
Option A is the default as the installation disk would have me do. I will not work. All connection indicator lights are green (or blue in the 160N's case) for the internet connection's path. The 160N will not recognize the modem and the DHCP will not work. Yes, I went into the 192.168.1.1 control panel stuff. It's set to have the internet picked up by DHCP, and under the info tab I kept trying the drop ip and renew ip buttons. Always at 0.0.0.0. During the autosetup installation, it told me it could not detect my internet and all the connection lights showed a working connection. Using the EasyLink GUI, it could not autoresolve the issue or recognize my Westell 2110 modem it was trying to talk to. I reset the power (waiting 15 seconds before plugging it back in) on each device in every order and combination possible. I've tried different cables. Nothing works. It just won't talk with my Westell 2110.
Option B I would prefer over A as I could set up better protection from the internet. It would also solve the problem of my router and modem hating each other. It will not work. My computer refuses to find which connection is the internet when I have more than one active. The windows network wizard utility does not resolve this (yes, I set it to "this computer is a gateway" and selected the modem connection as the internet and the 160N as the connection to the rest of the LAN. Still doesn't work right). I can't seem to find anything for a setting to designate a connection as THE internet connection for Windows XP, and activating connections in different orders or reorganizing them on the CP list does nothing. It sill tries to use the 160N which has no net connection or there's some kind of address conflict when I'm 95% certain both of them are set to different addresses, as I trust what the CP connection status panel says. I've never had this problem at wired LANs. It's never happend with Adhoc either.
Option C is the optimal setup. It will not work. My Xbox 360 suffered severe hardware failure when I booted it up before even connecting anything. It was working perfectly just an hour before. I'm kind of ticked off at the universe right now. Ignoring that setback, I bought the 160N on a gamble. Either it was the V1, DD-WRT supported, or V2, DD-WRT WIP. It's a V2 which means I'll have to wait. I know that the DD-WRT frimware supports using a wireless router essentially as a wireless dongle that's cheaper than the official Xbox 360 dongle and was told it could simultaniously serve as a range extending router for the rest of my home network too. Two birds in one stone, saving me about 80$. Is it possible with the official 160N firmware to do this? Would I suffer any severe network preformance issues streaming the net across an extra dongle as compared to the default topography that goes directly to/from the 160N? All wireless adaptors in my network are 802.11N compatible.
I am uncertain on the SSID settings. I shut SSID broadcast off in the 160N control panel, but I can still pick it up on my wireless adaptors. I was told I could just shutoff the broadcast, and then someone would have to know the network was there and know the SSID to find it rather than it automatically pop up in the availible networks list. It still comes up automatically, just without a name. How do I make it "invisible"? Or was my friend who told me this just messing with me?
All my attempts to resolve issues were done at first on the revision 11 firmware, and then on the revision 8. Neither work. I have already read I should use OpenDNS with revision 8. Should I just return this router and pick up a classic WRT54G off craigslist for like 30$?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

First of all who is your ISP ( Cable or DSL ).If you are trying to configure your router using the Setup disk, its better you configure it manually.
Click Here to configure your router with Cable ISP.
Click Here to configure your router with DSL ISP.

  • How to fix the "Two computers using the same IP address" issue on the airport express

I just bought an airport express and got dsl at my apartment, and I haven't been able to set up the wireless connection. My DSL works just fine but whenever I hook up the AX I get an error message saying that there are two computers using the same IP address on the network, but I only have one computer.
I know this is probably a simple fix, but I've never had this issue when I set up the Extreme at my parents house and I haven't been able to find a thread on this.
As of right now I have it set to Factory settings.
    Help please!

This modem was designed to connect directly to a computer and you are trying to connect it to a router.
Unfortunately, this is not a simple fix as both the modem and your AirPort Express will need to be configured differently to work together correctly.
Connect the modem directly to your computer.
Open up your browser and type the default IP address for the modem into the address bar. Check your documentation on the modem but it is likely 192.168.1.254
That will bring up the configuration page for the modem.
You may need to enter the modem access code which is on a label on the back or bottom of the device
Look for an Advanced tab, then look for a tab labeled something like PPP Location
Right now, you will see that "PPP is on the modem"
Chance that to "PPP is on the computer or router"
Click to save your new settings and the modem will restart
If you ever need to get the modem back to its original settings, you will need to hold in the reset button on the back of the modem for 5-6 seconds and then enter in the default IP address to be able to access the settings on the modem
Connect the modem to the AirPort Express with an Ethernet cable
Open AirPort Utility on your Mac and click Continue to follow the guided setup to "Create a wireless network"
You may be asked to "switch" networks when you do this. You want to switch
Select the "Connect Using PPPoe" option when it appears
Enter your user name and password with your provider. Leave the Service Name area blank. You want to always stay connected if you see that option
Continue to follow the guided setup and Update to save settings
Pull the power cord from the modem, wait a moment, then restart the modem
Log on to the wireless network that you created during the setup and you should have an Internet connection

    Hi all,
I recently got that a new USB CDMA modem which works fine on Windows 7 system but when I try connecting to my other laptop which runs on Windows 8.1, it keeps giving the error:
Error 633: The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly. I've most of the links and solutions shared but none seems to work. I've generated diagnostic logs which are as follows. I interpreted some and most probably
it seems like an issue of incompatible driver, but does anyone else sees any issues in these diagnostic logs. Looking forward to your suggestions.

    Hi,
We could get more information about your problem through this log. While, for your problem, first of all, it would be better to contact USB Modem manufacture to confirm its compatibility with Windows edition.
After that, make sure its driver was upgraded to be latest.

  • Frequent internet drops (T4 modem reboots, upstream issues)

We've been with Comast for about a year and a half -- from day one we've had lots of problems staying connected to the internet. We've tried a number of solutions to no avail. (replacing router, removing splitter, removing unnecessary cable splices, etc.)  After posting logs on some other forums, it seems we are experiencing some sort of upstream connectivity issue. Today the internet dropped about 10x in a span of 2-3 hours -- I looked at the modem status during this time and EVERY time the problem was the same -- T3 and T4 modem reboot errors and an inability to connect to upstream channels 46 and 47. It was these same two upstream channels EVERY time, which seemed odd. Here are a few snapshots of the logs and whatnot: Modem error log:http://tinypic.com/r/2ytxso5/8 Upstream channels 46 & 47 during T4 drops:http://tinypic.com/r/2d829f9/8 Overall modem signals (when modem is successfully connected):http://tinypic.com/r/2efsup5/8 From what I can tell, the signal strength is excellent. I'm guessing Comcast's first suggestion will be to "replace the modem." Keep in mind this has happened from day one when our modem was brand new -- as such, I really think there is something wrong with the actual physical line or something. From a frequency standpoint, this happens daily anywhere from every 10 minutes to every few hours (making things like online gaming literally impossible to do). At this point I think the only course of action is to have a tech come out and investigate this in-person. If anyone has any other suggestions let me know.

We had the same problem, up until about two weeks ago.  Our internet would keep dropping and the modem would re-cycle.  I do web design and run an eBay store, so this was incredibly frustrating.  It started only happening a few times here and there, but eventually it got to where it was down/re-cycling more often than not...at least it seemed to be. Comcast was good about sending a tech out right away to see what the problem was.  It was obvious it wasn't something that could be diagnosed and fixed over the phone support line. The technician came out and identified the same problem you are describing. Upstream connectivity issues. I don't remember all of the explanation, but we were unable to maintain a constant upstream connection.  After a few minutes of checking out our wiring, he discovered the problem.  During one of the last visits from a Comcast technician (we've had several problems over the years) they installed an 8-port splitter block to handle all of the cable outlets in our house. This was our problem.  The 8-way splitter caused the upstream signal to degrade and be unable to maintain the connection.  He took out the splitter block and replaced it with some sort of powered splitter (it looked expensive, but they didn't charge us for it).  This took care of the problem immediately and we haven't had any problems for the last couple of weeks. Our speeds also increased dramatically. If you have any splitters (especially more than say three or four ports) this could be your problem. 8-way's are definite no-nos.   At any rate, I would definitely have them come out and check out your problem.  It is more than likely a wiring issue.  I know how frustrating it is to experience the issues you are having.  The technician used his phone to somehow track down the problem.  The guy was really knowledgeable and explained things to me really well...I'm just too old to remember everything he said.  He was in and out in all of fifteen minutes.  At the end of everything, there was no charge for anything and our service has been wonderful ever since.

  • More than one modem if same?

Ok, figured out our problem of having to have the downstairs modem reset stems from using two different modems, a Westell 6100, and a Westell 6100F.  The computers are too far apart to link both together, and the house is too old to rewire, and we are not doing the router thing.
What I am wondering is if we used 2 Westell 6100Fs, if we would have to reset the modems every time we used them?  Can anyone help?  Moving the same modem to the other computer ALSO seemed to cause problems.  Does that mean I can never move my computer to another room?  If so, I ain't too happy.
      Cyndi, the better half.....

Since you do not want to wire OR rewire the house for Networking..
#1 How about using the existing power grid as a network?
    #2 OR using wireless?
You can use the modem in another room..
It is just you have to be sure that every other device that uses the phone line, has a DSL filter.
The modem unless directed, should never behind a DSL filter.

    Dear sir
Thank you very much. I am not a computer davy. still I ail try to explain. I am in Chennai India. My service provider is BSNL. I have a broadband connection wit 4 mb speed - though I get only 3 to 3.3 mb. The TC is connected to the modem *** router through ethernet in wired LAN1 socket. My iMac is connected to the modem in LAN2 socket through either net. Though the TC is permanently connected to the modem-router, it gets connected to the internet only if it is shown in the dock. If it is exited from the doc, it loses internet connection. I tried factory reset. Still the same problem. Therefore, unless the iMac is open and the Tc is shown in the dock, TC is not connected to the internet. Therefore all the time iMac need to be open and running. I hope, eih little knowledge I have explained. Thank you
    S KANNAN
    IRS(RETD)

The TC is perhaps in the wrong mode..
If you have a modem router the TC should be connected by ethernet and the computer plugged into the TC not the modem.
TC will be in bridge mode.. but it can lose connection on a daily basis.. if you have that issue downgrade the firmware as later firmware is not reliable.
I recommend 7.6.1 but the earlier ones are better on 7.5.2 .. anything more than 18mths old should go back to 7.5 firmware.

  • How well do the MBP's hold up?

I've been using laptops for some years now, mainly Dell Inspiron and Latitudes, but just picked up myself an MBP. The MBP seems to be build like a tank with its aluminun case...but how well do these things hold up?
For those of you who have them I would be interested in how much you use your MBP, how you use it...traveling, school, etc. I would also be interested in whether you shut them down or just close the lid, go to your next destination, open it up and continue on with your work?
How well do the keyboards hold up on the MBP? I've gone through a few on my work Latitude.
    Thanks,
    ~Steve

At work I've used a IBM T42 for the last 2 years including lots of international travel.
In short the T42 is a slow (pentium M) bulletproof laptop that has taken everything I've thrown at it without any issues. This includes airports, hot/humid countries and I've never had a problem with presentation projectors.
I have a MBP 15" 2.4 SR with 2GB for home. My first Mac too. Here's my impression:
    1. Aluminium is thin compared to the feel of the T42
    2. Screen wobbles (flexes) more than the T42 this could lead to fatigue when working on the move, when the screen is shut on the T42 the overlap against the side of the laptop prevent side ways knocks to the screen breaking the screen pivot.
    3. Heat issues without smcFanControl. The T42 isn't afraid to ramp up/down it's fans.
    4. No form of desk dock. It's quite useful just to place the laptop in the dock and have everything (power, network, keyboard, mouse, second monitor, skype headset, etc) all connect up in one go. I suppose apple's answer is wireless..
    5. MBP is faster performance than the T42 by a long way.
    6. MBP SR has better battery life by far
    7. T42 wireless experience has been better than the MBP - mainly due to OSX's desire to look for a different connection if the preferred wireless becomes unavailable.
    8. Keys on the T42 becames nice and shiney quite quickly but I don't have a problem with that. MBP has no issues.
    9. MBP has far better trackpad usability - down to OSX. On the move I'd often loose files with the T42 with the trackpad as windows double click on the pad causes drags etc.
10 Webcam in the MBP is a master stroke. With my T42 I carry a Logitech Fusion webcam around to record white board sessions. Now the MBP internal cam can do that - although it does require some odd looking manovers with the MBP!
    11. No getting away from it - MS Office. The move by MS to support Applescript instead of VB for the mac:Office 2008 is a little worrying as VB scripted templates from the business will no longer work. I've yet to see if this will be a problem but it makes me apprehensive.
    12. MS Visio - I've not found a OSX substitute. This needs to be available for integrating into mac:Office 2008 documents, slide sets etc.
    13. HDD movement protection. The T42 has very good movement protection. I don't feel the MBP's is quite up to that standard.
    14. Second monitor/projector support is good with both. I think the MBP OSX has the lead over windows but it does require an adaptor. Just a bind to remember it..
So in short - I would say that the MBP isn't ready for mainstream travel business abuse. The build design is great for sitting in coffee bars or places without much movement but needs more armour and architectural integrity for mainstream business abuse.
The T42 is designed from the bottom up for abuse and it shows it. Now lagging behind in performance and features it's still one of the best (if not the best) business laptops out there.
Working practice perspective - I would prefer the MBP/OSX as a work platform.
I hope I don't get shot by the applofisi but that's my experience.

  • UBR EEM script resetting the modem

    Hello,
I'm trying to find a way to perform some action on cable modem basing on syslog event. Let's take an example: I'm getting the following message in the syslog:
%UBR10000-5-UNREGSIDTIMEOUT: CMTS deleted unregistered Cable Modem XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ
Now, I'd like the script to reset this modem when such event occurs (maybe it makes no sense to reset deleted modem but it's only example)
And now I'm looking for the way, how to use the event syslog message in the script and how to extract the MAC address of the modem from this line.
Being specific - how to get $MAC variable, having in mind that there's no regexp command on UBR IOS?
    event manager applet modem_reset
event syslog occurs 1 pattern "CMTS deleted unregistered Cable Modem" period 1
action 1 cli command "clear cable modem $MAC reset"

    Hello, Joseph,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I have followed your advice and prepare an example script, however I have an issue with extracting particular substring. • Modem-on-hold questions

    Hi all,
Is there a way to get modem-on-hold without a v92 ISP (dial-up)? Dial-up is my only option, and there is only one phone line available.
If using Netzero, is their software necessary to actually connect to the internet, or is it just a bunch of after-you're-connected homepage stuff? Why can't their phone numbers simply be entered into the Internet Preferences Setup? I just need the connection, not their email, etc.
Has anyone been happy with modem-on-hold in Tiger? Seems it works intermitently at best.
Thanks for any help. This will be on a new eMac with built-in v92 modem. (More questions as I get prepared to set up Dad's eMac. I asked these over on the Tiger forums, but no response -- there's so much activity there the question is already way down on the second page after less than a day!). And since the questions really aren't eMac-specific, I thought I'd bounce them around here.)
    Thanks!
    Tina

Thanks for the lead, Bill. As it turns out, at least from what I can find out from other sites offering that device, it requires not only call waiting but Caller ID as well. Dad can not get Caller ID where he lives (he's not really in the boondocks, not even "way out in the country", but he is on a road on the outskirts of a small city ... I thought California had EVERY technology available to every citizen).
Looks like I'll just have to wait until I get there and see how Tiger's built-in modem-on-hold works. I don't imagine Dad will be on the internet all that much anyway (unless the eMac woos him ...)
Thanks again for tracking down the Emerson.

    Hi there,
I use visual studio community 2013 to develop app for office. When I create app project using template and directly run it, it shows me this error: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

    Hi holm0104,
Did you add custom code into the project? Can you reproduce the issue in a new project without custom code?
If not, did you have issue when you create a normal web application?
