More overstuffed mailbox issues.

My co-workers and I have recently experienced overstuffed mailbox issues and I have been using this forum to figure out what to do. We had been getting "Not downloaded from server" info, and sure enough the mailboxed in question are as large as 1.7 Gb.
Now the only problem is, I don't know how, if at all, the messages from this folder can be retrieved so that some of them can be saved. Ideally, we would like to delete most of the messages but keep the most recent in an active mailbox for searching purposes. Then we would be dilligent in the future about deleting old work to avoid this in the future.
But what can I do right now? I read something about a "Breaker Script" but I don't know how to get it, or what the exact procedure for using it would be.

Thanks, this worked perfectly! Is it possible, though, that using this script might make the split mailboxes, or maybe the Mail program in general, run more slowly? This seems to be happening to me today, but it may be unrelated.

  • More dissapearing mailboxes - 10.4 migration "lost" local mailbox

    I recently got a new iBook running 10.4, and transferred my old user account across (from a 10.3 system). I had all the IMAP stuff come across OK, but I also had a local mailbox, called Archive, with an archive dating back to 2001. Mail now thinks that's an IMAP mailbox which isn't in sync with the server (You need to take this account online in order to download it blah blah). All the messages are listed, but unopenable. In ~/Libarary/Mail/Mailboxes I have a folder called Archive.mbox, which is about 800M. About half of that is an mbox file. So the data is there. How do I get this new version of mail to recognise it as a local mailbox and not an IMAP one?

    Tiger Mail doesn't think the Archive mailbox is an IMAP mailbox stored on the server. This error message indicates an "overstuffed" mailbox issue that was brought over from Panther Mail or brought to the surface with the mailbox conversion process to Tiger Mail.
    Did you create a backup copy of the Panther Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail before upgrading to Tiger?
    If not, try the following.
    Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Archive.mbox. Copy the Archive.mbox folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
    Within the original Archive.mbox folder at Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes, delete all files/folders except for the Info.plist file and the Messages folder. The mbox file and any other files/folders within the Archive.mbox folder are left over from the mailbox conversion process to Tiger Mail. These are no longer required by Tiger Mail and are not deleted after the conversion process is completed.
    Launch Mail and select the Archive mailbox in the drawer. At the menu bar, go to Mail and select Rebuild.

  • Overstuffed mailboxes in Tiger

    Hi,
    I'm dealing with a BIG problem, and it is that I get the following message when I try to open any email in my INBOX:
    The Message from "XXXX" <XX> "RE:XXX" has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
    I read somewhere it is due to an "overstuff" of the mailbox, although the post read are related to versions 10.3 and I'm on 10.4.7.
    I tried to move some emails to other mailboxes and I can't.
    I tried to rebuild the mailbox and it was even worse, because doing it I lost 2/3 of my messages, so I went back thanks to the backup.
    I prefer not to try other options regarding to previous versions because this is a new one.
    The whole Mail folder in "Library" is 1.7GB. I read in Tiger an "overstuffed" mailbox starts at 2 GB, so I don't really know where the problem begins.

    are within this INBOX.mbox folder,
    Please find the info in the post just above.
    How many different Domain names are there involved?
    Everywhere you have written eneko@Domain, is that a
    different Domain, for example?
    There is only one account involved. I've got one more account with the same domain and it works. When I go to Inbox in Mail I can see the emails in all accounts, in all folders, but in one.
    what is the total size of the INBOX.mbox folder,
    versus the size of the Messages folder? Is there
    only one folder with Messages in the name?
    In Library/Mail when selecting the "bad" account folder,
    POP-eneko@DOMAIN and getting the info it is only 12,1MB.
    INBOX.mbox inside that weights 10,7 MB.
    In the messages remaining in this one INBOX, is there
    any pattern to the dates that remain?
    It is difficult to know, but the messages are from a specific data range (about 15 days) months ago. None out of the range. I think also that they are not all which there should be in that range. It is remarkable also that all off them are mark as unread, although most of them were read months ago.

    please let me know if I hit the mark or not. If I understand correctly, you
    have a problem using a model for both UPDATE and SELECT queries because of a
    computed column...correct?
    If so, this issue is solved in JATO 1.2. 1.2 has an attribute in the field
    descriptor to indicate in which type of queries a field should be used. You
    can use this attribute to indicate that a field should only be used for
    UPDATE queries, SELECT queries, or whatever combination of query types you
    require. You can then define synthetic fields for use only during one of
    the query types.
    Does this sound useful in fixing your issue? A way around this in JATO 1.1
    would be to create separate models for SELECT and UPDATE queries. The
    SELECT model could contain all the fields for the joined query, but the
    UPDATE model would contain info for only one table. The 1.2 feature simple
    allows you to do the same using one model.

    Sorry for the delay with the answer, I've tried to obtain JATO 1.2
    and repeat the project migration to verify whether version 1.2 solves
    my problem or not (actually, it is a pilot sub-project).
    Unfortunately, I still have no 1.2 version.
    Let me try to answer on your question without getting the results
    with JATO 1.2. Your explanation sounds like version 1.2 is very close
    to solve the problem. Actually, our situation is easier because we
    have SELECT object only, not SELECT and UPDATE. For data integrity
    the only 'Select' ND's do(s) have been used through the whole
    project. The backend communication (update, delete) is provided via
    EJB like (entity) Java classes.
    My question is: could I define synthetic field with 1.1.1 version. By
    the way, word synthetic reflects the possibility to construct the
    field under certain SQL circumstances (SELECT, UPDATE, e.g.) or the
    possibility to construct a `fake' field (for example,
    CountColumn of a do) as well. If the later is true, could you please
    give a brief idea how to create this synthetic field.
    After the translation in the doPriorityCountModelImpl class we've
    got:

    How can I create more than mailbox in E61i? I ceated one, and it's only the available one now. The manual says go to Menu > Messag. > Mailboxes and press Options > New Mailbox. But I did not find these options.

  • Showing more than 10 Issues in Test Manager tree view

    I know the table shows them all, but is there a way to show more than 10 Issues in OTM Tree View? Seems cumbersome to keep having to click >>Next and <<Previous for each set of 10.

  • Exchange 2010 /hosting shared mailbox issue

    Hello everyone.
    I had an issue come up in our Exchange 2010 with /hosting switch deployment (currently at SP2).
    We have several organizations and shared mailboxes configured and working on some. We add Full access permissions via Powershell + Send as rights and it auto configures and works just fine.
    Last week though, one of several people that uses a specific shared mailbox started getting the error: "Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either there are network problems or the
    Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance." (Error ID: 300)
    The other users can still work just fine. Configuring the account in another PC shows the same problem (so it's not the local profile).
    Creating 2 users, giving nr1 full access to nr2 generates the same error.
    In another org though, i was able to give full access to another acount to an existing user and it worked (although the auto-mapping didn't, had to add it manually)
    I'm out of ideias. Any sugestions?
    EDIT: Did a couple more tests on another Org. On this one everything works with the shared folder access with old and new accounts but strangely the auto-mapping doesn't.
    It seems that this is an issue with the mapping.

    From your description, I recommend you manually update or create your Outlook profile with RPC encryption and check the result. Here is the steps on Outlook 2007 for your reference:
    1. Select your profile, and then click Properties, click E-mail Accounts.
    2. Select the Microsoft Exchange Server account, and then click Change.
    3. In the dialog box that contains your mailbox server and user name, click More Settings.
    4. In the Microsoft Exchange Server dialog box, click the Security tab.
    5. Click to select the Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange check box, and then click OK.
    6. Click Next, and then click Finish.

  • Lion and Mailbox issues

    Hi!
    I'm recently new to Apple, having just bought a Mac Air. I've configured Mailbox because I hate using the service provider sites to deal with my email, preferring a simple, no nonesense email service without instant messager, flashing lights emotions and other hype. Unfortunately my Mailbox seems to want to retrieve my entire history of sent messages from my configured email accounts and even more annoying is that I seem to have to keep deleting the same messages from my trash before they finally die! The other curious issue is that I sometimes find I have several copies of a sent message in my draft folder.
    Is this just happening to me? Is there a way of keeping my mailbox under control?

    I have the same issue.
    Safari would stall and sometimes stop responding without any reason.
    Three things seems to help.
    1. Stop automatic graphics card switching (if you have discreet card). Could be issues with graphics drivers not knowing "how" to render a web page when moving from program to program.
    2. Turn off automatic brightness control.
    3. When Safari crawls, turning of HOVERZOOM usually brings Safari back to normal. I now have this off and seems to be helping a lot.

    i'm not exactly sure if this is what you mean, but if you want to see multiple instruments in the score view, just clicking anywhere on the "paper" brings up all the instruments used. if you want to see each single instrument come up in the score view, i think, like the previous person said is a matter of arranging the windows in the specific screenset, and having an Arrange and Score or Arrange and Matrix so that you can click on the regions and they'll come up on the other screen.
    Make sure you save and/or lock your screensets.

  • Mailbox Issues in New Databases in DAG

    Ran across a strange problem after moving mailboxes into 2 new Databases in DAG. We have a 2 Server DAG that
    had 2 existing DBs. We created 3 additional DBs and planned on moving all MBs over to reclaim space from the older DBs. After moving 30 or so Mbs to the new Databases we found that while mailflow functioned, we could not access any shared mailboxes or mailboxes
    that had full control permissions could not be added. Users that had been moved but had shared MBs on another DB in Outlook would get error messages that Folders could not be expanded or Exchange Server was unreachable, all while mail flow was functioning.
    Moving these users back to the original DBs solves the issue. 
    Any ideas what could be happening to the new DBs added to the DAG? The DBs were mounted and copies were healthy.

    Are there multiple DCs in your organization? And please make sure sync is no problems between DCs.

  • Mail rebuild mailbox issue with Gmail

    I set up Mail 4.6 to receive and send e-mails to and from Gmail as per the instructions on the Gmail site and used additional information on this forum.
    What is happening is whenever I rebuild the gmail folder it downloads again all the files I have deleated. I rebuild after deleting a lot of Spam and e-mails I no longer need.
    As recommended the account is set as a imap account.
    Under the mailbox tab it is set:
    DRAFTS: Store draft messages on server - box not checked
    SENT: Store sent messages on server - box not checked
               Delete message: dropdown set to: One day old
    JUNK: Store Junk messages on server - box not checked
              Delete message: dropdown set to: One day old
    TRASH: Move deleted message to the Trash mailbox - box is checked
                 Store deleted messages on the server:  - box not checked
                 Permanently erase Delete message when: dropdown set to: One day old
    Under the Advance tab it is set:
    Enable this account - box is checked

    Keep copies of messages for offline viewing: dropdown set to: All messages and their attachments
    I am not sure is this last item of  'Keep copies of messages for offline viewing' refers to the the Gmail server or the mail box - if it is the gmail server then I guess Mail is just syncronising with this; thus any mails I delete will be down loaded again. ((All the other mail servers I use I set under Advance tab to 'Remove copy from server after retrieving message' - but this option is not shown for gmail.
    Two things are happening:
    a) When I delete files in the Mail, Gmail folder the next time I rebuild the mail box I get 1000 + emails down loaded; even though I may only have deleted 30 or so.
    b) At other time mail will show downloading e-mails in the blue download indicator, but no new emails appear.
    Would welcome some direction on how to resolve these issues; thank you.

    The issue with g-mail became cronic. Now I can't delete e-mails received to my gmail account.
    When I try to delete emails in the gMail or Mail inbox the following message is show.
    The Message could not be removed to the mailbox (null)
    The destination mailbox "(null)" does not allow messages to be moved to it.
    This started after following the recomendation I found in the forum to sync gmail folders to the Mail - folders.
    I am looking for solution to get back to the original condition that while not what it should be it is better than now.
    Was hoping for solution were I wouldn't have to delete gmail account from mail then start again.
    Any ideas welcome as I would like to delete emails in the gmail folders in Gmail without logging into Gmail every time.

  • Mail from Excel using a Shared Mailbox issue

    Hello,
    We have Office 365 running with several shared mailboxes. We configured the value DelegateSendItemsStyle so when you send an email it will be placed inside the shared mailbox send item folder. (See KB:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2181579). So far so good. 
    When we send directly from an Office application like Excel (File -> Share -> E-mail -> Send as Attachment), in the new email window we change the From field to a shared mailbox, type our text and send the mail. Now the file will be placed
    inside the users send items folder.
    Somehow when we mail directly from Word/Excel the DelegateSendItemsStyle gets overruled and ignored. When we change the shared mailbox to a payed one with a license, add the box as a second Exchange account and send the mail then, everything is ok and the
    mail will be placed inside the shared mailbox send items folder. As you might understand, with 25 shared mailboxes it is a waste of money to license them all.
    I contacted Microsoft Office 365 support, and this is outside of their support scope.
    Any ideas how we can fix this?

    Please read the kb 2181579 again, we can find the following information:
    The functionality is available only when the Exchange account is set to
    Use Cached Exchange Mode. The DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value does not affect an Exchange account that is configured in Online mode.
    When you said "add the box as a second Exchange account", did you mean "additional Mailbox"?
    Go to File -> Account Settings -> Account Settings -> Double click on your account name -> More Settings -> Advanced -> Make sure "Use Cached Exchange Mode" and "Download shared folders" have both been ticked -> OK.
    Kindly check the result.

  • Mailbox Issue - Won't Delete ANY mail

    Hi there,
    I seem to have an issue with Mailbox on my MacBook Air. Please note: I did NOT have the issue on my iMac, before I sold it and reset it. Both Mailbox accounts were set up exactly the same.
    I have a hotmail account which I have set up through Mailbox. I can send and receive with no issues at all. The only thing I can't do is delete the mail. I have over 15,000 junk emails and can't delete them. It's exactly the same with my Sent and Trash folders. I like a nice clean Mailbox - this isn't good for my OCD!

    Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Advanced tab for the account preferences, is "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" selected and if so, what is your selection below for removing messages from the server when downloaded by the Mail.app?

  • More iTunes Store Issues

    Last night I tried to download a free TV show from ABC's Million Hit Lowdown (Desperate Housewives / Remember) - it downloaded 1.9 MB within the first few seconds and then stopped. I tried pausing the download and restarting a few times, restarted iTunes several times, then gave up last night and tried this morning and it is still stuck in the same place. Last night I was curious as to if I could download anything else with any problems, so I purchased a song and it downloaded fine (yet at the same time, the TV show download was still stuck). I have a cable modem and generally TV shows download fairly quickly. Last night was the first time I used the iTunes store with iTunes 7.

    I noticed tons more memory getting chomped by itunes 7 than ever before, esp. during downloads. Could that have been the issue here? (though I notice you're running G5 dual, so probably not)
