Motion 5.1 Keyframe problem
After building a 3 minute project with mainly graphics and various moves using a camera in 3D I have found that when I attempt to change a keyframe using the keyframe editor the mouse pointer disappears making it impossible to carry on with the edit. Also if you use the keyframe transform tool Motion displays the beach ball and crashes.
This happens on my iMac and Mac pro. I have re-installed Motion and trashed the preferences on both machines without effect.

I've Carried out more testing-This issue is only happens with the camera keyframes and not with individual object movement and opacity changes. Also when the playback freezes the audio continues. I have selected a play range area that includes the section that stops playback and attempted a RAM preview, this fails which im guessing is due to the keyframe issue. Please help

Dear Friends, I have a serious problem with Kframes: after painting with paintstroke I select the shape style light streak 3 and I need to adjust the COLOR OVER STROKE commands into the Keyframes editor...I have no way to see the animated KF in editor... I just tried to (with the right track selected):
-right click over the COLOR OVER STROKE+choose "show in KF editor" (a new untitled set is created but I cannot see the animated KF)
-drag the same COLOR OVER STROKE to the KF editor (a new untitled set is created but I cannot see the animated KF)
-drag from timeline the paint stroke track (a new untitled set is created but I cannot see the animated KF)
-choose "animated" in the KF editor but I cannot see the Animated colorstroke KF
-I trashed all the preferences -I disclose color over stroke triangle, I select one color and click on the color KF, choose "show in the KF editor" and it's working but I can see only that animated parameter in the KF editor but I need to see all the animated parameters in the same KF editors to adjust them correctly toghether... After many attempts now I can see al the animated KF only on the first track and not on the others I've copied...why..?
With Motion 4.x I have only to click on the COLOR OVER STROKE and choose SHOW IN KF EDITOR and I can see and edit all the animated parameters perfectly...With respect to problem 1, motion is performing correctly. Once you set a keyframe for a parameter in the inspector orr turn on the record button then when you move the playhead and change that parameter either by changing iits value in the inspector or in the canvas Motion adds a keyframe automatically. This is true whether the record button is active or not. The checkbox in the recording options pane only allows you to change the keyframed parameter without setting a new keyframe when the project is playing.
With respect to problem 2, when you click on a keyframe in the keyframe editor the popup shows you the value of that keyframe. To change its value double click to get the window to set a new value. Then click in the window to get a cursor to type a new value. I have found that using the arrow keys to move the cursor to clear the window is the easiest way to enter a new value. Note that the values on the left side of the keyframe editor always reflect the value at the playhead position not a selected keyframe. If you place the playhead on a keyframe you can change its value there just as in the inspector.
With respect to problem 3, I can not reproduce wwhat you are seeing. I can keyframe x,y,and z rotation on an object or the camera and it alll works normally in all camera views. No delays or wrong movement. Perhaps I don't understand exactly what you are describbing. -
In a motion tween, I have an object moving in an arc between
two keyframes. I did the same thing between two later keyframes.
However, in the space between the two animations where nothing
should happen, Flash added it's own animation. The object moves
backward a bit and then back to where it should be. I can't get it
to stop doing that. The motion editor shows an arc between the two
frames but I just want it to stay still. Please help! The animation side of things is definetly not the focus of what knowledge I have but here goes...
A shape tween sounds like what you want. Create the base shape, and secondary shapes for a gap in each direction you need. After that you setup the timeline into sections for each of the directions and label them, and finally use goToAndPlay to choose which direction to unveil.
Should work, but Im not sure if its the best approach. Hope it helps. -
Dent/dip in motion graph between keyframes
I've noticed that ever since upgrading to AE7, I occasionally get this strange dip/dent in the line/curve between keyframes that I can't seem to get rid of.
Commonly, it occurs like this:
I set a keyframe at the first frame, then move the layer/item and set another keyframe at (say) frame 30. Everything's fine... Then I move to (say) frame 40, move the item, and set a keyframe. When I look at the graph, rather than the usual line going from one keyframe to the other, I have a kink/dent in the line going from keyframe 2 and 3, as if a keyframe of a different value was place in between the two keyframes.
I've tried toggling linear/bezier interpolation, and even removed and redid each of the keyframes, yet nothing gets rid of the kink.
Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know why this is happening? This has prevented me from finishing even simple animations, because there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it.
I never had this problem with previous versions, so I'm really puzzled by what is causing this. Just 3 keyframes, and it does it... nothing else complex or unusual.I think what you're talking about is bounce or rebound. If you change the spatial interpolation from bezier or auto bezier to linear the bounce will go away. You can't change spatial interpolation directly in the timeline graph editor. You change it by going to Keyframe Interpolation by right clicking (or Control + click on a one button mouse mac) on your selected keyframes in the timeline window and picking Keyframe Interpolation or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmnd + Alt/Option + K, or by going to Animation>Keyframe Interpolation from the menu bar.
While the graph editor will give you an indication of the position of the layer, you can only manipulate the time values in the Timeline Window. In the Composition window, you can only adjust the spatial (position, rotation) property. If you look closely at the keyframes in the Composition window before you change spatial interpolation, you'll see bezier handles on the path. They are really difficult to see on a straight path, but they are there. Changing Spatial Interpolation to linear will get rid of these handles, but you can also do it manually by holding down the G key while hovering close to the motion path and when the cursor changes to an open arrow you grab the path bezier handle and drag it to the keyframe.
Hope this helps. It's a rather common problem that's easily solved once you realize that you're adjusting the when in the timeline and the where in the comp window. -
Keyframe Issue Motion 3 - bezier keyframes turned into linear
Hello,
I have made a camera movement with a few behaviors and converted it into keyframes.
It took me a very long time to adjust the (bezier) keyframes, but I ended up with a really nice and smooth movement.
My problem is: when I quit my project and open it again, the curve of the parameters seems like one with linear keyframes. When I select a keyframe, the interpolation IS actually bezier. But there are NO tangents.
My solution is to use the Reduce Keyframes... tool on every curve and increase the Smoothing Factor. But it doesn't exactly recreates the curve I made before quitting.
Does anybody recognize this problem?
BramHi, that must be the problem!
After unlocking the camera layer (and individually locking the keyframes, don't want to mess up my work) and restarting Motion no strange things happened.
With Google I couldn't find any reports of this error, but thanks for the clarification!

Motion 4 Audio Waveform Problems
I'm having huge problems trying to animate to music in Motion 4.
When I import a track (I've tried MP3 and AIFF) into a project it appears correctly both in the Layers tab and the Timeline. However, If the track is altered in any way (moved, zoomed in or out, edited etc), the graphical wavefrom goes out of sync with the actual audio. The playhead can be over a silent part of the audio (represented by a flat line) but the music will be blasting out of the speakers. This means that all video key-framing etc has to be done by ear, as the visual waveform is totally inaccurate.
I've tried all of the usual house-keeping fixes. Re-starting. Repairing permissions. Trashing Pre-sets. None of this works.
Am I doing something thing wrong, or is this a glitch in Motion 4/Lion?
Thanks in advance
Imac 27" 2011, 3.4 i7, 16 gb RAMYou didn't say what versions you are using but I'd try first trashing prefs:
1) Quit Motion.
2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.
3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it.
And then if that doesn't help, do this
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3061
And if that doesn't help perhaps reinstall just the Motion app using Pacifist and run software update -
Motion tweens from keyframe vs properties panel
When motion tweening a grouped object in either Flash 8 or
Flash CS3, I get different results depending on whether I use the
keyframe or the properties panel to set the tween.
If I right-click the first keyframe and select "Create Motion
Tween," I get two graphic symbols named Tween 1 and Tween 2 in the
library .
If I select Motion from the Tween drop-down list in the
Properties panel, I do not get those two graphic symbols in the
library.
Question #1: Which is the better way to create motion tweens
-- using the keyframe or using the properties panel?
Question #2: What other differences are there between
creating a motion tween (or shape tween in CS3) between using the
keyframe or using the properties panel?
Ken Elder
Oklahoma City1) either is fine, however you should not try to tween
multiple object at the same time, put them in a moveclip and tween
the clip, or on separate layer and tween them individually. This is
why the symbol shows up in the Library, because it's not quite the
right way to do it, and Flash needs to make some things to try a
keep it straight. The best way to tween is to use the Tween class
and script the tween.
2) no difference, they both fire the same method. Like using
key shortcuts vs. the menu. -
MOTION BLUR & LIP SYNC PROBLEM
This problem is with encoding in CS5.
Using Encore to make a DVD I had to Transcode all my assets because of the "end of file" error
on doing this I had 7 clips out of 18 with either motion blur (may be jitter) and audio out of sync with the video but not on all of them.
Then I re encoded my originals in Prem Pro using different settings but still the same problem.
Your help would be appreciated
johnacs5Hi Jim & sellador,
As I am from England all my work is PAL 25 fps
This particular clip has the worst blur or jitter quite painful to watch. Oddly enough plays fine on the time line or viewer but not in WMP or DVD on computer or television (this must tell us something)
I have now done over 20 different outputs the best being de interlace no blur but the quality suffered.
Right some info:
Material, Original clip as shown in adobe properties: mpeg - 25fps Aspect 4:3 1.094 pixel
720 x 576 - Upper field first - average bit rate 871kb/s - Audio 48k
Sequence settings: DV PAL upper field first - 25fps - 1.094 pixel - Audio 48k
Export settings: MPEG2 - Custom - 720 x 576 - pixel 1.094 - upper field first

Motion 5 audio keyframe not rendering
Hi All,
I have a project in which I'm using keyframes to control audio level. The first two keyframes work ( level goes from normal to -18 ). The keyfrmames near the end do not work ( level goes back up to normal for a few seconds, then down to -96 for a fadeout effect ).
It sounds fine in Motion, but when I export to Movie it does not render.
I've already trashed the prefs.
Any help appreciated - VijayAudio in Motion has always been a bit iffy - I would do your audio editing elsewhere, like STP or FCP. Then bring it into Motion. Or try exporting audio only, if that works, bring in the movie and replace the audio.

Hi Adobe Forum,
I have been using After Effects on a friends computer and I cannot work out why the keyframes are giving me problems.
Particularly when using the 3d layer on my text. For instance, I will keyframe the z axis so the text flys towards me from the back of the composition. Then I want this to slow down as the logo gets closer.
The initial keyframe to make the text fly in from the back is:
1st keyframe = z axis: value: 24 484 @ 0 frames
to
2nd keyframe = z axis: value 0 @ 1. 06 frame
I then try to add my third which looks like this:
3rd keyframe = z axis: value: -342 @ 3.18 frames
These 3 keyframes should give me the desired animation but instead in between the 2nd & 3rd AE spikes the value in the middle:
2nd keyframe value: 0
in the middle of these keyframes AE automatically sets the value to -1915 so it increases to this to the middle and then decreases before finishes on the 3rd

Avoiding keyframe problems in premiere
Hi everyone
Recently I made my first video with premiere. I had a problem when I tried to open a saved project related with the keyframes. I searched a bit and found out that it was related with the language of the saved project so instead of using the correct form between the numbers of the keyframe (z.,z.,z.,), the project was saved using only dots (z.z.z.).
As my project had few keyframes and was an easy one, I decided that remaking it and processing the video was easier, so that's what I did.
Nontheless, I'm worried about my next projects, as I pretend them to be more complicated and intricated than this one. So my question is, is there any way to avoid that format-saving problem? Can I configure the program so I don't have to worry about it any more?
I'm using Windows 7 (x64) and Premiere Pro CS6.
Thank you very much in advance.Hi Yo1980,
Sorry. iCloud is what is causing the issue, as all was fine until a recent update from Apple. We know about this issue, but are still working on a fix. For now, you may need to uninstall it or run it on a separate computer or device.
Thanks,

Audio keyframe problems in FCE
Hi,
I'm working with FCE 4.0.1
I'm just about ready to export a project from FCE 4 containing various forms of audio: music from external sources (.aif, .caf, .mp3) as well as audio recorded on camera.
In the edit the audio has been keyframed so that the volume adjusts during the sequence. When playing the edit from the timeline however, the keyframes seem to be ignored at random - sometimes the audio is played as meant, othertimes it is abruptly stopped - there seems to be no logic to it. This happens to all sorts of audio, to the .aif as well as .caf or the audio recorded to camera.
I made a test DVD and the audio keyframes were ignored on this too. Where am I going wrong? Does FCE have a limit on the amount of audio tracks it can read well? (In some parts I use up to 12 tracks)
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how I can fix the problem?
Thanks! The amount of audio tracks varies throughout the project, however to a maximum of 16.
In the user preferences I see: Real Time audio mixing 4 tracks, and audio playback quality low (faster). Would it make things better if I changed this to 16 tracks, and a high quality playback?
The sample rate of the aif files is 48khz, as is the audio rate for the sequence.
I have tried the mixdown function on a small part - and it seems to help! But I can't understand what exactly it is doing - can you explain this to me or advise me on where to find more info?
Thanks Tom! -
Slow motion (constant speed) rendering problem. ATTENTION PROs!
I have tried almost everything to try and fix my problem and now I am going insane!
I am editing a short promo featuring constant speed adjustments and video filters. When I render the video seems to drop frames and jutter. Why is this when i have only reduced the speed of the clips by 50% or 75% ? ?
I have put it through compressor several times and printed the video onto DVD to see if the problem lies within any other program, but i believe my problem is with final Cut HD.
The footage is HDV interlaced. I have made sure the frame blending options are checked although this makes no difference and have rendered it I dont know how many time.
Do I need to bring the original rushes out of the bin and adjust the speed again from scratch...essentially start again?
HELP! I am going mad!
Mac Book Pro (2ghz intel / 2gb memory) Mac OS X (10.4.9) Final Cut Studio HDI have done it!
I firstly made a quicktime movie, using current settings, to create a single HDV clip. I then created a new sequence, titled HDV, and opened up the sequence settings. Going into the video processing tab I changed field dominance to 'upper odd' and motion to 'best'. I then dropped the new HDV clip into the timeline. At this point I sent this new clip to Compressor and chose the 'best quality 90min 16/9', MPEG 2 two pass + Dolby. EXPORT....HAPPY DAYS! The results are great. Perhaps I could make it better by stopping the footage down to SD first? -
Hey, I´m using the latest Version Premiere Pro CC with a MacPro and have a problem:
Why does an Objekt do moves between 2 keyframes, which I didn´t programmed?
E.g.: A text should slide from left to right. Between these 2 keyframes, the text goes also down and up again... but there is no keyframe in between...
I have this problem more often, but don´t know the reason.
Thanx for your help and suggestions.
MarcusHi Neil, thank you for your help.
I will describe in some more words :-)
I have a normal text written with the text editor. Base is a comic film, where pictures are moving.
This text has also to move from right to left in different speeds. First slow, than a fast move, than slow again. Then it has to turn up.
The Problem is between keyframes, where is only a move from right to left. Suddenly, the text goes down and up again.
You can see in the effect editor, that the values are changing, but I did not make them change. They go down and up.
I always delete the keyframes and start up from new, but this problem appears very often, again and again. Sometimes more drastically sometimes only a little bit.
But it makes me go crazy.... To me it is a bug.

Extra motion trackers in keyframe editor
I created an analyze motion behaivior to track for points to using in a match move behaivior. For some reason, there are two sets of x and y coordinates per tracker. What are these extra x/y coordinates for?
I'm starting to understand this now. The extra X/Y corrdinates are for the offset. If I do not use offset, the parameters show up in the keyframe editor, but there are no keyframes. The tracker preview shows the offset coordinates, and the canvas view shows the real coordinates. If I delete the offset coordinates, then the tracker is no longer offset. It is really annoying that the offset coordinates have the same name as the regular coordinates. How am I supposed to tell them appart?
