MOVED: K8MM3-V win2000 very poor performance

This topic has been moved to AMD64 ATI/SiS/VIA based board.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=105470.0

I've tried:
original install of win2000: problems as above
Fresh install of win2000 no service packs: same problems
Fresh isntall of win2000 with lastest drivers from MSI website: same problems
Fresh install of win2000 with service pack 4 (latest): same problems
Fresh install of winXP: No problems at all
As above but with latest MSI drivers: Still no problems at all
It's definitely related to win2000 and I suspect it must be a mobo driver issue?

  • MSI GE70 2OE-015NL very poor performance on battery power

    Hey guys,
First of all I want to say that I'm really happy with my GE70 notebook. Everything works perfectly fine except for this one thing... When I play games on the notebook while on battery power, the performance is very poor. For example when I normally on AC power get around 250 FPS, it drops down all the way to around 40-60 FPS on battery power. In real demanding games this can be very annoying, since I have to play on AC power constantly for games like Battlefield 4. Although this isn't really a problem for me most of the time, I just don't think that's the concept of a notebook... I monitored some statistics using MSI Afterburner and I noticed that the GPU's core clock is clocked all the way down to a constant 135MHz whilst gaming and the memory is clocked all the way down to around 400MHz. I'm using a GTX 765M. I've already tried changing settings in the Windows power settings, the NVIDIA control panel and I even looked into the BIOS, but I couldn't find a solution to this problem. Apparently the GTX 700M series GPUs support Optimus technology which should give a decent battery life using the full power of your GPU, but for me it doesn't do so. The battery gets drained in around 45 minutes while gaming on very poor performance. I hope you guys can help me out!

    Oyo,
All Gamer NB are not done for play in battery mode, battery life are short and the power provide by a battery are far from the power adapter, this mean the NB get less power and your CPU and VGA are working in lower mode = lower result.
This is normal because link to the battery, thepower adapter provide 120W, the battery 49W, you see the gap between them ^^
So for play games, use the power adapter and the battery together, this is the best way.

  • URGENT: Migrating from SQL to Oracle results in very poor performance!

*** IMPORTANT, NEED YOUR HELP ***
Dear, I have a banking business solution from Windows/SQL Server 2000 to Sun Solaris/ORACLE 10g migrated. In the test environment everything was working fine. On the production system we have very poor DB performance. About 100 times slower than SQL Server 2000!
    Environment at Customer Server Side:
Hardware: SUN Fire 4 CPU's, OS: Solaris 5.8, DB Oracle 8 and 10
    Data Storage: Em2
DB access thru OCCI [Environment:OBJECT, Connection Pool, Create Connection]
Depending from older applications it's necessary to run ORACLE 8 as well on the same Server. Since we have running the new solution, which is using ORACLE 10, the listener for ORACLE 8 is frequently gone (or by someone killed?). The performance of the whole ORACLE 10 Environment is very poor. As a result of my analyse I figured out that the process to create a connection to the connection pool takes up to 14 seconds. Now I am wondering if it a problem to run different ORACLE versions on the same Server? The Customer has installed/created the new ORACLE 10 DB with the same user account (oracle) as the older version. To run the new solution we have to change the ORACLE environment settings manually. All hints/suggestions to solve this problem are welcome. Thanks in advance.
    Anton

On the production system we have very poor DB performanceHave you identified the cause of the poor performance is not the queries and their plans being generated by the database?
Do you know if some of the queries appear to take more time than what it used to be on old system? Did you analyze such queries to see what might be the problem?
Are you running RBO or CBO?
if stats are generated, how are they generated and how often?
Did you see what autotrace and tkprof has to tell you about problem queries (if in fact such queries have been identified)?

  • Very poor performance Windows RT with Citrix

    Hi All,
I'm currently in a project with a customer implementing XenApp 7.6. The customer uses Dell XPS 10 tablets with Windows RT installed. We have installed the latest Receiver from the Microsoft Store and added a connection through a Citrix NetScaler Gateway
    VPX version 10.5.
The user experience on the tablet is very very poor. This is extreme when browsing using Internet Explorer 11. On a normal Windows 8 client or a thin client with WES2009 the experience is good.
Besides the bad performance there's also a problem with the home/start button on the remote OS (Windows Server 2012 R2). The button isn't working or only after multiple tries.
This experience is also on a windows 8.1/10 machine with the Citrix Receiver from the store.
Any thoughts about the issue's above? What can we do to optimize the environment for working with the Citrix Receiver from the store?
    Kind Regards,
    René

  • Very poor performance on oracle linux 6.3 on virtual-box 4.2

    Dear all,
I installed an oracle linux 6.3 on vbox VM (2 gb RAM, 20 gb disk): the installation took a long time and after, I faced poor performance and big latency.

I can confirm that there is no issue with Virtualbox 4.2 and Oracle Linux 6.3. I use it all the time. Performance should be near native and some aspects like disk I/O may even be faster. Your problem could be insufficient hardware, like missing x86_64 or hardware virtualization support. However, like rukbat wrote, this is not the right forum to discuss Virtualbox and your computer hardware here. I suggest to start with the Virtualbox documentation to verify your hardware is sufficient.

  • Macbook (mid 2012, 9,2) has very poor performance since the day I bought it (less than 2 months ago)

    Problem description:
My macbook is extremely slow since the day I bought it (which was less than 2 months ago)…Came preinstalled with Mavericks and 4GB of RAM. Upgraded it to 16GB hoping that would help, but that did very little…then upgraded to Yosemite. That just made it worse. Formatted the whole thing and installed clean Yosemite. Still, every time I right click, I get the rainbow loading icon and it hangs. Every time I open any file, or click any app, it hangs for a few seconds, again with a loading icon. Every time I play a song on iTunes or even VLC for that matter, it stops multiple times, every few seconds. Feels like it’s “buffering” while I’m playing a song off my hard drive. It’s been bothering me for too long now…Any idea what the issue is exactly?

  • One specific MSAD account having very poor performance

We have one specific MSAD EPM account that takes forever to login, access a planning form and run a report.  If this same user uses our testing native directory IDs he session is as fast as all other MSAD accounts.
If another MSAD account uses his workstation they encounter no problems (thus not a workstation problem)
We have dropped and added him back to the security groups, refreshed filters and reviewed his MSAD setup to make sure it is not different.
Looking for other avenues or tools to use to determine why this individual is having problems.
    JTS

Had to share this will all,
Finally figured out what the problem was after sniffing through our entire network.  It was a workspace preference for Accessibility Mode.  For this user it was checked (File/Preferences/General/Accessibility Mode)
Once unchecked the system speed was normal to other users
    Always the little things

  • CRIO Poor Performance - Where have my MIPS gone?

I have a cRIO based system that is used to control a motor for a particular application. The application has been developed and enhanced over the years and is currently using about 50% of the CPU. The RT Controller is a cRIO-9012. I have recently been asked to add a 1 kHz (or more) loop function to the cRIO application. I can only achieve a maximum loop rate of about 200 Hz. When I told the customer this, he asked how fast my controller was, to which I replied 400 MHz. “Where is all the CPU power going?”, he asked. He's now thinking of replacing the cRIO Controller with an mbed with C code to get the performance he requires, which is a pity since I'd like to continue developing the application in LabVIEW.
Following on from his question, “where is all the CPU power going?”, I decided to write a simple application to test the cRIO 9012's performance. Below is the code I used to perform the evaluation:
With just the bottom loop running, which reports CPU load over the cRIO Controller's serial port, I have a CPU load of 7.0%. This is the baseline.
I then add the "execution" loops as shown above the bottom loop, one at a time and recoded the CPU load. Here are the results:
    1 Loops - 18.3% load (11.3% extra)
    2 Loops - 29.4% load
    3 Loops - 45.5% load
4 Loops - will not run!
    I have two problems/concerns.
    Concern 1
The cRIO 9012 has a 400 MHz processor, which has 760 MIPS of processing power. The rate of the simple loop is 2 kHz and each loop takes about 11% of the CPU power. That is, each loop uses up 83.6 MIPS and each loop iteration uses up 41,800 instruction cycles. Where are the 41,800 instructions going? Even if there was a context switch after each loop iteration, this would account for 150 to 200 instruction cycles. Each loop is only doing an integer increment, timing check, compare and branch. These should only take up about 4 instruction cycles (8 if you want to be generous). If this was programmed in C, you could get bare metal performance that allows a single loop rate of something like 40 MHz or with an RTOS something like 2 MHz. Instead, my maximum loop rate is something like 20 kHz.
Where are the "wasted" 41,600 instructions per loop iteration going? This is only 0.5% efficient!
    Concern 2
Why does adding the 4th "execution" loop cause the application to halt (or at least not send data over the serial port)?
I like programming on the desktop using LabVIEW and I like programming the FPGA using LabVIEW. The RT Controller is however becoming an embarrassment. Is it really the case that the best additional loop rate I can add to an existing application that already uses 50% of the cRIO Controller's CPU can only be 200 Hz maximum?

    Thanks for all the feedback.
    MajorTom,
Changing to timed loops instead of while loops makes the performance worse. For 2 Loops, rather than a CPU load figure of 29.4% (22.4% after removing base load) it shoots up to 78.4% (71.4% after removing base load). That is, it runs about 3 times slower, which takes the "efficiency" down from 0.5% to 0.15% efficient.
    TimothyA,
I tried making the "execution" loops subVIs (with Preferred Execution System = other 1, with the top level = other 2) and that solved the four "execution" loops problem. Thanks, one of my concerns is now resolved (I'll mark it as such once the conversation quietens down).
The execution time is still large with the 2 loops taking 29.1% of the CPU, which is the same as before.
I tried using the "reduced" us wait next multiple CLN.vi, but it appears to be in LabVIEW 2014 and I'm using LabVIEW 2013. Any chance of resaving it as LabVIEW 2013?
    crossrulz,
Thank you for pointing me to the table in the CompactRIO Developer's Guide. I assume you’re talking about Figure 3.5. Priorities and Execution Systems available in LabVIEW Real-Time. I didn't realise that Execution Systems are limited in the number threads (would be nice to get a warning when this happens). This will make interesting reading and experimentation.
    All,
I’ve tried various loop limiting rates including Timed Loops and While Loops with RT Wait Until Next Multiple, RT Wait, Wait Until Next Multiple and Wait and the best perform is from the two RT waits. The worst performance was from the Timed Loops.
In summary, I’ve solved the problem regarding how to run more parallel loops, but I still get very poor performance with each loop interaction taking about 41,800 instructions when it “should” take more about 200 instruction cycles. All I want is to be able to run a loop at at least 1 kHz on my cRIO-9012 when I already have an application that takes up about 50% of the CPU. I have the threat of the code being moved to an mbed using C, which I’m trying to resist. Surely a 400 MHz controller can have a 1 kHz loop and not take up more than 10% of the CPU.

  • Poor performance with WebI and BW hierarchy drill-down...

    Hi
We are currently implementing a large HR solution with BW as backend
and WebI and Xcelcius as frontend. As part of this we are experiencing
very poor performance when doing drill-down in WebI on a BW hierarchy.
In general we are experiencing ok performance during selection of data
and traditional WebI filtering - however when using the BW hierarchy
for navigation within WebI, response times are significantly increasing.
The general solution setup are as follows:
    1) Business Content version of the personnel administration
infoprovider - 0PA_C01. The Infoprovider contains 30.000 records
    2) Multiprovider to act as semantic Data Mart layer in BW.
    3) Bex Query to act as Data Mart Query and metadata exchange for BOE.
All key figure restrictions and calculations are done in this Data Mart
    Query.
    4) Traditionel BO OLAP universe 1:1 mapped to Bex Data Mart query. No
calculations etc. are done in the universe.
    5) WebI report with limited objects included in the WebI query.
As we are aware that performance is an very subjective issues we have
created several case scenarios with different dataset sizes, various
filter criteria's and modeling techniques in BW.
Furthermore we have tried to apply various traditional BW performance
tuning techniques including aggregates, physical partitioning and pre-
calculation - all without any luck (pre-calculation doesn't seem to
work at all as WebI apparently isn't using the BW OLAP cache).
In general the best result we can get is with a completely stripped WebI report without any variables etc.
and a total dataset of 1000 records transferred to WebI. Even in this scenario we can't get
each navigational step (when using drill-down on Organizational Unit
hierarchy - 0ORGUNIT) to perform faster than minimum 15-20 seconds per.
    navigational step.
That is each navigational step takes 15-20 seconds
with only 1000 records in the WebI cache when using drill-down on org.
    unit hierachy !!.
Running the same Bex query from Bex Analyzer with a full dataset of
30.000 records on lowest level of detail returns a threshold of 1-2
seconds pr. navigational step thus eliminating that this should be a BW
    modeling issue.
As our productive scenario obviously involves a far larger dataset as
well as separate data from CATS and PT infoproviders we are very
worried if we will ever be able to utilize hierarchy drill-down from
    WebI ?.
The question is as such if there are any known performance issues
related to the use of BW hierarchy drill-down from WebI and if so are
there any ways to get around them ?.
As an alternative we are currently considering changing our reporting
strategy by creating several higher aggregated reports to avoid
hierarchy navigation at all. However we still need to support specific
division and their need to navigate the WebI dataset without
limitations which makes this issue critical.
Hope that you are able to help.
    Thanks in advance
    /Frank
Edited by: Mads Frank on Feb 1, 2010 9:41 PM

Hi Henry, thank you for your suggestions although i´m not agree with you that 20 seconds is pretty good for that navigation step. The same query executed with BEx Analyzer takes only 1-2 seconds to do the drill down.
    Actions
suppress unassigned nodes in RSH1: Magic!! This was the main problem!!
tick use structure elements in RSRT: Done it.
enable query stripping in WebI: Done it.
upgrade your BW to SP09: Has the SP09 some inprovements in relation to this point ?
use more runtime query filters. : Not possible. Very simple query.
    Others:
RSRT combination H-1-3-3-1 (Expand nodes/Permanent Cache BLOB)
Uncheck prelimirary Hierarchy presentation in Query. only selected.
Check "Use query drill" in webi properties.
Sorry for this mixed message but when i was answering i tryied what you suggest in relation with supress unassigned nodes and it works perfectly. This is what is cusing the bottleneck!! incredible...
    Thanks a lot

  • Blackberry Link for Q10 with Outlook Sync has very poor performance and not good Functionality

I am wondering if anyone has tested this software. Blackberry Sync software for my previous phones were wonderful. I can sync my contacts and calender in a very short time. With this new Blackberry Link it takes about 1 1/2 hours Plus to complete. And when it does complete - it duplicates entries which I did not want.
Plus what is missing is the following:
        1. I am not able to say Update both Device and Outlook any longer. This functionality is gone.
My question: How does it do a two way sync if I only have a choice to use what I have on my phone or on outlook only
I want to be able to update my Outlook contacts with changes and addition I made on my Q10 phone and update my device with changes I made to Outlook.
Why did Blackberry remove this very flexible choice? Plus Blackberry Link has very poor performance.
I work for a large company and I do Enterpirse Software testing daily. Performance is the number one complaint for customers on top of the UI and functionality.

    Thanks for the reply.

A thing I noticed when I opened Descktop Software for the first time since the new Z30 is that the old application thinks it is looking for a Z30.  I havent even opened the application since before I got the new device.  The only way it could think I have a Z30 is if it is using a lot of the same files as Blackberry Link.   That is some pretty terrible software development practices in my opinion.  I'm going to take your suggestion and uninstall both apps, run a registry cleaner and reinstall BB Link and I bet it works a lot better afterwards.
    EDIT 12 March 2014 7PM EST

  • Poor Performance in ETL SCD Load

    Hi gurus,
We are facing some serious performance problems during an UPDATE step, which is part of a SCD type 2 process for Assets (SIL_Vert/SIL_AssetDimension_SCDUpdate). The source system is Siebel CRM. The tools for ETL processing are listed below:
    Informatica PowerCenter 9.1.0 HotFix2 0902 357 (R181 D90)
Oracle BI Data Warehouse Administration Console (Dac Build AN 10.1.3.4.1.patch.20120711.0516)
The OOTB mapping for this step is a simple SELECT command - which retrieves historical records from the Dimension to be updated - and the Target table (W_ASSET_D), with no UPDATE Strategy. The session is configured to always perform UPDATEs. We also have set $$UDATE_ALL_HISTORY to "N" in DAC: this way we are only selecting the most recent records from the Dimension history, and the only columns that are effectively updated are the system columns of SCD (EFFECTIVE_FROM_DT, EFFECTIVE_TO_DT, CURRENT_FLG, ...).
The problem is that the UPDATE command is executed individually by Informatica Powercenter, for each record in W_ASSET_D. For a number of 2.486.000 UPDATEs, we had ~2h of processing - a very poor performance for only one ETL step. Our W_ASSET_D has ~150M records today.
    Some questions for the above:
    - is this an expected average execution duration for this number of records?
    - updates record by record are not optimal, this could be easily overcome by a BULK COLLECT/FORALL method. Is there a way to optimize the method used by Informatica or we need to write our own PL-SQL script and run it in DAC?
    Thanks in advance,
    Guilherme

  • Poor performance of BLOB queries using ODBC

I'm getting very poor performance when querying a BLOB column using ODBC. I'm using an Oracle 10g database and the Oracle 10g ODBC driver on Windows XP.
    I create two tables:
    create table t1 ( x int primary key, y raw(2000) );
    create table t2 ( x int primary key, y blob );
Then I load both tables with the same data. Then I run the following queries using ODBC:
    SELECT x, y FROM t1;
    SELECT x, y FROM t2;
I find that the BLOB query takes about 10 times longer than the RAW query to execute.
However, if I execute the same queries in SQL*Plus, the BLOB query is roughly as fast as the RAW query. So the problem seems to be ODBC-related.
Has anyone else come across this problem ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Biren,
By GUID, are you referring to the Oracle Portal product?

  • Poor performance of WD Abap/ Adobe

    Dear sirs,
I would like to know if anybody of you have experienced very poor performance of WD ABAP with Adobe interactive form. Our client has paid for a 2-3 pages interactive form in WDA and is complaining about very poor performace. As a result no users are using this application because of this poor performance.
Can anybody point out what can be a problem? Some developement problem? Basis issue? Any experience related to WDA Adobe performance? Thank you all, Otto

Update: SAP OSS message was opened regarding this problem.
We got a list of patches to update, notes to apply etc. All was done, applied, patched. The performance didn´t get better, it anything it was like extra percent or two, but nothing what would make the customer less angry.
The result: this technology is promising but a) needs strong client PC b) will get better (i hope gets better soon)
Our basis team checked all the times (of actions that has to be done to load/use the app) and the memory need both on server and client. On some client PCs only the Adobe Rader was starting like a half a minute (and more, not less). If you add time for WD, for WD/ Adobe communication and the data transfer, the time to start working with WD ABAP Adobe app can be more than a minute. That is not very usable.

  • New Project settings...possible solution for AVCHD poor performance

I have experience very poor performance when editing AVCHD content from my Canon camera.  I was using the DV widescreen by mistake as the last format I used was a DV camera.
When I switched to AVCHD Full HD 1080i 30 the performance was greatly improved.  But I actualy have my camera set for 1080p 30.  It's a setting on the canon vixia HF S100.  My options are 60i, 30p, or 24p.  I prefer no interlacing so I can avoid de-interlace issues when posting content on computers (plus most TVs are progressive today and it's easier to go from p to i without impacting quality).
But which options is best for me?  should I try and create my own custom setting?  I noticed in the Hard Disk and Flash presets they have two settings (one says 60i but that is anamorphic).  The HD 1080i 30 looks like the same settings Full HD 1080i 30.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Poor performance of VL10A transaction

    Hello Experts,
We are facing very poor performance in One of our production system in VL10A transaction
I checked for the response time and it is going up to 5 seconds
    I checked for :
Table Space > it is fine
Pending updates ? it is fine
Available workprocesses > it is fine
Abap Dumps > no major issues.
    Could any body suggest ??
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Amber S

    Hi
Try to get a working example of the transaction with poor performance. I would just run the transaction and monitor the work processes SM50 at same time. If you always see your request on a certain table, for example VEPVG, then I would take an SQL trace with transaction ST05.
If the process in SM50 is only on a table (-> accessing the database) for a short time, then you would investigate more on the Abap side.
Btw, if you did not modifiy anything, then you can always go to SAP support (-> look for SAP notes first!) as this is a standard functionality.
    Best regards, Michael
