Movies and TV shows won't play

When I try to play movies and TV shows on my brand new 80g all i get is a black screen with the play arrow in the top left corner then after about 10 seconds it goes back to the menu. I've tried all the r's, re-downloading the shows, turning off eq,etc. I have version 1.2 and the newest I-tunes. I called Apple support and they said I had to e-mail i-tunes support. I-tunes support said to call Apple support. Anybody? Should I return it? Video podcast do play and all movies play in i-tunes. Thanks

Yes all the files download from ITunes should play without any additional conversions.
In your first posting you didn't mention ITunes files.
That said:
Even though you downloaded from ITunes, doesn't necessarily mean that every file is okay and will play in your IPOD.
E.g. Podcasts sometime will have files that are supposed to work but they still could have problems playing in IPOD.
Do a manual Reset on IPOD--by selecting
Menu and Center simultaneously, for about 6 seconds.
You may have to do this several times.
re-try IPOD
Make sure your Windows software is up-to-date ;You have all the recent updates.
Make sure your running the correct software version for your IPOD;
In your case it has to be ITunes Version 7.0 or higher.
The other option if your not good with trouble-shooting;
take it back to the seller; because you belive it to be defective.

  • Downloaded Rental movies and TV shows won't play!

I just downloaded "Michael Clayton" the other day and when I tried to watch it, the video would play for about two seconds and then my itunes would freeze and I would have to ctrlaltdel. Also, I can't watch any of the tv shows I have previously downloaded now, with the same problem of freezing. However, the songs i have downloaded from the store play fine. I have talked to my friends and some of them are experiencing this same problem, so it could be an issue with the new Itunes. Please lend any support you have! Thanks.

I'm experiencing the same kind of problems with TV shows like "Grey's Anatomy" or "Desperate housewives" downloaded from iTunes (US store). I already tried to re-install iTunes and Quicktime but no luck so far. I suppose it has sth to do with the DRM functionality since as soon as I hit the play button of a TV show I have to activate my computer (btw: this happens only with TV shows, other songs I downloaded from the store play just fine). After the confirm popup ("Machine authorized...) the screen turns black or grey and I get another popup telling me that the file "xyz.m4v" cannot be played. After that, I have to hit ctrlaltdel..
funny thing is that I tried the same files on my DELL notebook running WinXP and had NO problems. Sounds like a Vista issue Please advise!!!! Thanks...

I have to reset everything, then it will repeat the cycle. This happens regardless of wire or wireless connection. I would suspect that there is something wrong with the network, or Apple TV, except that movies and TV Shows seem to be fine. My music library is about 3700 songs, all legit, either imported from source or puchased through iTunes. This one has me stumped and frustrated!

I thought that may have been the case too. I set the power settings to compensate but still the same. I also done things like reset the router and Apple TV to factory. Starting to think it may actually be the Apple TV, but it just doesn't make sense ?!?

Perhaps try the "Error 3001," "-42110," or "5103" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • After the latest version of Adobe flash player was installed, movies and tv shows will not play, and

After the latest version of Adobe Flash Player was installed,  movies and tv shows  will not run, and most of the news videos will not play. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but that does not help.

I have windows (crap) seven and internet explorer.  When I try to access movies or tv shows, I'm always asked to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.  When I check the programs list, it indicates that Adobe Flash Player Active X is installed.  I have uninstalled adobe and reinstalled it several times.  Do you suppose this is a virus, and I need to redo the hard drive completely?

  • Certain movies and TV shows won't sync with my iPad 2

I a unable to sync certain Movies and TV Shows from iTunes to my iPad 2.
Some iTunes Digital Copies and TV Shows downloaded from iTunes sync perfectly well.
However, when I attempt to sync my iTunes Digital Copy of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, or the two TV shows given away in the latest 12 Days of Christmas promotion, I get the message "XXX was not copied to the iPad because you are not authorized for it on this computer."
They all play fine on my iMac. Both the iPad and the iMac are signed in with the same iTunes account.
I have tried deauthorizing and re-authorizing my iMac, without success. The same message appears when I try to manually manage music and videos.
Any ideas why these files in particular will not sync? Many Thanks.

Check out this thread...basically, changing the extension from .m4v to .mp4 allowed me to move a TV Show in iTunes onto my iphone4.

  • Purchased movies and tv shows won't show up in iTunes on my Macbook Air

So, I have recently begun purchasing movies and TV shows through iTunes in an attempt to further enrich my Apple ecosystem (and to have awesome movies to watch on a 5.5" screen ). I have had mixed experiences with this transition and am still having issues. For example, my Apple TV worked fine with all my purchases instantly -- no problem there. My Mac Mini takes a bit but it sorts itself out in no time. My iPhone 6 Plus, however, has failed at showing new purchases in the cloud in the videos app (for example, I purchased Doctor Who Series 8 and wanted to watch an episode the other day but was disappointed to find out that it wasn't available in the cloud). My Macbook Air though.. absolutely no movies or tv shows show up in iTunes. I can download them from the purchased section of the iTunes store, but at 2-3 GBs an episode, and the limited memory of a Macbook, I have only condoned a desire to stream them through iCloud.
Yet I can't figure it out. Why aren't my shows and movies showing up at all in iTunes? All of my iTunes match songs show up just fine. I have checked and nothing is hidden, so I am literally stumped.
If anyone could help me understand why, that would be great. And if anybody knows what is going on with my iPhone's video app, that would be awesome too.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dylan

Oh alright -- I manage to resolve my own stupidity quite abruptly, actually.
Shortly after posting this, I annoying took another gander at iTunes Store settings. To my own idiocy, I must have unchecked "Show iTunes purchases in the cloud" at some point. In my defense, though, the availability of songs in iCloud threw me off quite a lot.
Ha ha -- anyways, if anyone else is having the same problem, check there.

  • My videos and tv shows won't play on my Macbook Pro

None of my videos or tv shows will play on my Macbook Pro.  They used to work but somewhere within the last month they stopped working.  When i play either one all i get is a still screen shot that is fuzzy, and the audio keeps playing but the screen stays frozen.

    many thanks.

  • HT204370 I bought a hd movie and now it won't play on my computer

It started to play and then said it couldn't be played in HD. Asked to do SD. When I press play, it is a black screen .

  • HD movie and tv show files won't play in iTunes 10.6.3.

Just did a fresh install of Mountain Lion and for some reason now HD movie and tv show files won't play.  I get a black screen.
Standard Def tv shows and movies are still playing fine though.
Oh and  yes I already tried switching it to 32-bit mode via the "Get Info" screen.  Same problem results.
    Any suggestions?

I think I have the same problem. Every time I play some HD movies in iTunes the movie seems to be stuck and the screen black. If I scrub the movie forward I can see the picture, even captions, but I can't play them. I said some because there are certain movies that DO play. I mean HD ones, SD video plays fine. But I couldn't find any clue. It's not a matter of file size, neither a matter of resolution, compressio... I'll wait for an update (system and/or iTunes) and if nothing happens I think I'll dig a little more. This is no big issue for me since they ALL seem to play perfectly when I select AirPlay to my Apple TV.
    I'll try checking tags

  • My movies and music videos won't show up on screen, I can hear the sound but not see the video how do I fix this?

My movies and music videos won't show up on my computer screen, I can hear the sound but not see the video how do I fix this? I'm not sure what to do as far as turning my purchased movie into DVD goes either. I just want to put the movie onto a DVD disc but my itunes won't even show that I have a blank disc in the drive, I'm not sure what is wrong or how to fix this, any help at all would be much appreciated.

    Hi @anthony7722 ,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to help!
I grasp that you uninstalled the Intel graphic driver and the catalyst control.  You reinstalled the Intel driver and now you can view and hear videos on the Internet but you are unable to set the resolution as high as previously.
When I checked the specifications for your notebook I see that you have switchable graphics.
Here are two links that I believe will help.
Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs
Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs
Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv7-6150eb Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
    Please try this process.
    1. Download the chipset driver, and both graphic drivers and save them  but do not install them yet
2, Delete the chipset driver and install the updated one.
    3. restart your notebook
4.Delete the Intel driver and install the updated one
    5. restart your notebook
    6. Delete the AMD driver and install the updated driver.
You should now have a Catalyst Control Center.
This should now allow you to use the higher graphic card which should support the higher resolution.
    I hope this helped.

    Michael,
Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
    Best regards,
    David

  • Movies and tv shows, stored in my itunes, are not playing on my iPad

In my iTunes, I've played tv shows and movies on my laptop and iPod, however I can't get them to play on my iPad.  Help?

The movies and tv shows in your iTunes library on your computer can be transferred to your iPad via the iTunes sync/transfer process. This is selected under the Movies and TV Shows tabs for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes. After the movies and tv shows are transferred, they will be available in the Videos app under iOS 5.
