Moving and an unknown cancelation fee.

I am moving to an area where service is not provided and because I have to cancel I have to pay $110. I asked for a copy of the contract but was told it was a verbal agreement. I asked for him to read back the verbal agreement and no where does it say anything about paying a cancelation fee if I am moving to another are. If it had I wouldn't have singed up because I knew I planned on moving. Is there any way to get a copy of the verbal agreement? And if I never agreed to this moving fee is there anyone I can call about it?

I am getting this error whilst attempting to move NEF (Nikon RAW files) either between folders on the same hard-drive or between hard-drives (which are incorporated into my Lightroom catalogue).
Whenever I receive this error, a strange (locked) file appears in the directory/folder to which I intended to move the file and on examining this file in the terminal I can see that it contains the following error message: "cannot execute binary file...logout". The filename of this strange file is usually very random such as 470F00FF-9FBC-4517-84BF-26E52251B2B9-449-0000020C6A4DD5FD
I do not have any problems with missing sidecars and always select "save metadata to files" before attempting to move the files...can anyone figure this out?

  • Cancellation fee when moving out, (after contract ...

Hi, I am moving abroad soon. I would like to know what charges I will have to pay. My 18 month contract with BT infinity will be over before I leave. I understand that I will lose the line rental as I have already paid for a full year. But should I be paying a cancellation fee? I am not cancelling I am moving abroad.

It is in their Terms and Conditions that they will charge a £30 cease charge.
A cease charge of £30.00 (not subject to VAT) is payable if you cease your broadband service and do not request and use a migration access code or another recognised transfer process to move to another service provider.
It does go onto to say:
This charge is not raised if you are moving home and BT is unable to provide the service at the new address. For more information please visit www.bt.com/ceasecharge
    And also this part:
When won't the charge be raised?
This charge will not be raised should you :-
Move home and you re-connect to BT Total Broadband via the homemover process.
Move home and we are unable to provide the service at your new UK address.
You are ceasing service due to bereavement or severe illness.

Just your line that is ported gets the Early Termination Fee if you are still in contract.
If you keep the other lines active you are still responsible for them.

  • Cancellation fee moving back to France

    Hi everybody,
i'm really angry to discover the way that BT wants to stole me...
They ask me 397.03 pounds of cancellation fee because i really need to leave the UK at the end of the month.
It's unbelievable to see that kind of fee for just stoping broadband, landline and TV (i cannot use the BT vision because of the lack of aerial reception in my area...)...
I can understand that we broke the contract, but, please, just stop stealing people...
They said : "keep all the equipment, we don't want it... "
Is it your conception of ecology ?
    What can i do ?
My objective is to send all the equipment to BT, like that, they can use it again (they are pretty new and very good) and have a reduced fee.
    What do you think ?
    Thanks

Yes but "BT is respected internationally for its commitment to the principles of Total Quality" according to its Quality Strategy. Within a Total Quality Management approach, one of the most important factors for the success of an enterprise is its customers.
Without them, a business cannot exist. But to capture customers, a business must try to find out what people want, how much and how often they will buy and how their post-purchase satisfaction will be ensured - this is because people talk, blog and influence others.
Even if this guy doesn't come back from France leaving him satisfied makes commercial sense and fits with BT's quality strategy.
That kind of thinking has gone out of fashion.  It started with the low-cost airlines.  Their service is poor, and they add on extra charges at any excuse, but their advertised price is cheap and customers like things cheap.
This attitude has now spread to most consumer-facing bisinesses.  Keep the advertised price down, cut customer service, and if you lose a few disgruntled customers then you will gain some from your competitors who are just as bad.

  • Misled by Salesman - FIOS cancellation fee

Sad to see posts like mine all over the internet. Even more sad that I didn't see them before I switched to Verizon. This past April I switched from Comcast to Verizon FIOS. At the time I was apprehensive about signing a 2 year contract, knowing that I likely wouldn't be in the same are for that long. I was assured by both the home salesman and customer service that, if I moved to an area they didn't service, I wouldn't be charged an early cancellation fee. Now I am moving, and the only thing Verizon offers in the area is home phone service. Since I am moving into a parsonage, the phone line is already provided from the church, so I have no need for another home phone line. Talked to Dave in customer service today, and he informed me that I am facing a $125 early cancellation fee, since they do "technically" still offer service in that area, even though I made it clear when I signed up that I had no interest in any services other than internet. So my choices are either to pay a $125 early cancellation fee or $20/month + setup fees for a home phone that I don't need. Terrible customer service Verizon...

    Hi Whalefree,
Would you mind sending this post to me in a private message along with your account details so I can investigate this for you?

  • £30 cancellation fee for broadband.

I've been with BT for ages, decades actually and as I was moving in to a new house I decided to see if I could get a cheaper service.
Plusnet are £13.99 for line rental and £5.99 for 10 gig of broadband and free evening and weekend calls.
So not only have I been royally shafted all along but now they charge me £30 cancellation fee for my broadband.
If you are a moderator reading this please do not reply by saying it's in the contract, I don't care if it is - it's not how to treat a loyal customer who's spent probably 10's of thousands of pounds with your company over the years.
It is not in the spirit of good customer service to charge people to leave anything. That's known as EXTORTION and holding people to ransom.  This is a thinly veiled attempt to get people to say "Oh well, if it's £30 to leave I'll stay."
WRONG ! I'm off to plusnet and I'll be complaining to OFCOM  http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/
and your customer services in writing.
I'll also ensure I tell everyone I know on facebook not to sign up with BT.

I'm afraid it's OFCOM who allowed them to introduce the charge in the first place, so you won't get far complaining to them.
"As a condition of our service, you must, when you end your broadband service request and use a migration authorisation code (MAC) or another recognised transfer process to move to another service provider. If in breach of this condition you do not do this you will have to pay a broadband cease charge of £30 by way of compensation to us. You will not have to pay this charge in the event you are moving home and we are unable to provide the service at the new UK address. For more information go to http://www.bt.com/ceasecharge. This charge is compensatory and is not subject to VAT."
I'm guessing you didn't get a MAC, or Plusnet didn't use it properly.

  • Early cancellation fee

I have a family plan package with 3 phones. We moved to a new neighborhood 9 miles away and now I have very limited service inside my one story home. I spoke with the verizon tech rep and tried of few things, but none worked. Why am paying almost $200/month for little to no service? My work requires me to be on call several days out of the month. I cannot afford to have missed calls. The verizon rep told me that I could pay $250 for a signal booster, but refuse to pay extra for something that should be standard. They offered to discount it a few dollars, but I told them I am not willing to pay anymore for this service. I have been an excellent customer with verizon 15+ years. This is how verizon is taking care of me.  I have starting to research other companies and was wondering if verizon charges each phone a cancellation fee or a package cancellation fee?

Each line is charged an ETF since each line has its own contract.  If you last purchased a smartphone when signing a new two-year contract, the ETF is $350 minus $10 for each full month of the contract term you've completed (it's $175 minus $5 if you last purchased a basic phone).

  • Service cancellation fee

I need to cancel our service. We have 4 lines, all being smartphones. How do I do it? I'm SURE Verizon charges a cancellation fee, ha!

    mimisan99 wrote:
If you cancel in the middle of your billing cycle...Verizon will give you some mumbo jumbo that the "port"  didn't complete until the day before your next billing cycle.  How convenient!!!  I cancelled 3 weeks before my billing cycle and paid their early termination fee.  I didn't have a problem paying that but I do have a problem paying them until the end of the cycle when I can't use the phone.  They got an extra $75.  So don't cancel in the middle of your cycle but then if you do, they will probably give you some **** about the "port" didn't finish until the next billing cycle.  I guess either way your are screwed!!!  Glad I am not a Verizon customer.  BTW, I was transferred three times to learn that I wasn't getting my $75. bucks back.  Good Luck!!!
Actually, paying for the full final month of service isn't "mumbo jumbo," it is part of the terms and conditions of the customer agreement:
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY POSTPAY SERVICE IS CANCELED BEFORE THE END OF MY CONTRACT TERM?
If you're signing up for Postpay Service, you're agreeing to subscribe to a line of Service either on a month–to–month basis or for a minimum contract term, as shown on your receipt or order confirmation.  (If your Service is suspended without billing, that time doesn't count toward completing your contract term.) Once you've completed your contract term, you'll automatically become a customer on a month–to–month basis for that line of Service. If you cancel a line of Service, or if we cancel it for good cause, during its contract term, you'll have to pay an early termination fee.  If your contract term results from your purchase of an advanced device, your early termination fee will be $350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete.  Otherwise, your early termination fee will be $175 minus $5 for each full month of your contract term that you complete.  Cancellations will become effective on the last day of that month's billing cycle, and you are responsible for all charges incurred until then.  Also, if you bought your wireless device from an authorized agent or third–party vendor, you should check whether they charge a separate termination fee.
It has nothing to do with the port.  When you agree to the contract, you agree to pay for that final month. Most carriers do this.  I had U.S. Cellular for a couple of years, and they had the same policy.  I don't know about AT&T or T-Mobile, but I am fairly certain Sprint has the same terms as well.  Knowing the terms of the  contract you agreed to saves time, hassle, and frustration.  Also you don't have to pay two companies for a one month of service.

  • Creative Cloud Cancellation fee after 12 months

    Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to sign up for creative cloud, but under the terms and conditions i noticed it says after the 12 months, they'll renew your contract automatically, at the standard annual plan price, unless you cancel.
Will there be a cancellation fee associated with this, after the 12 month period? I only want to test Adobe Cloud for a year, so i would like to know.
    Thanks in advance! xx

Once your contract renews just cancel within 30 days and there will be no fee, this is the same as when you first sign up.

  • Can the 50% cancellation fee be waived if switching from full membership to photography package?

I really only use Lightroom and Photoshop and I want to cancel my full CC membership and switch to the cheaper photography plan, but I am curious if there is a way to waive the cancellation fee since I only just renewed my full membership about a moth ago. Can anyone help me out here?
    Thank you!

Your IT administrator will send you an email invitation to join Creative Cloud for teams. Once you have accepted the invitation you should contact us to cancel your individual membership.
You need to launch one of your CC apps and select Help>Sign out. Close the app, relaunch and sign in again with your Adobe ID. This ensures that your Adobe ID is now associated with the new subscription plan.  (Your Adobe ID would be your company email address if this was the address used for the teams invitation).
Please let me know if you have further questions.
    Thanks
    Bev
